I love this location. However today I ordered my usual cheeseburger and fries and was so disappointed. The burger was ready in less than 5 min so you know what this means. They gave me a Precooked burger already done and yes I could tell the difference the flavors were just not good. So it's probably just happened to be a burger that wasn't picked up or something. I wonder why it took me so long to finally get here since I live less than 1/4 mile away. I blame being on a diet, but after over doing I could enjoy. Service is the same smiling kind you are use to having. The guys cooking and bagging are just the normal show. The Coke freestyle machines can still be used, even hands free. In this Covid-19 time, limits on number of customers on, social distancing required and don't even think of coming with out a mask. EBS would enjoy the food and the service if he was here. Today (against my better self-judgement) tried the location at 12 mile and Telegraph. First, I am warning that you must speak "Klingon" to order. If you want only one hamburger, you must order it as a "little hamburger" or you pay for and get two hamburgers. I got the two hamburgers. They were dry and overcooked (tho' it wasn't that busy). The toppings were scand and put sloppily. For over $11 for hamburger I don't think they are worth it. read more

Good burger, prepared fast and to order. I like that the toppings are unlimited and you can pretty much get an entire salad on top of your burger. My bacon cheeseburger had lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles and green pepper. And it was AWESOME. No fries today because I really don't need the extra grease and the burger by itself was more than filling. Uh, I did have a couple peanuts. Very salty. Service was good and accurate. they said there's a 15 minute wait because they're out of foil to wrap the sandwiches. i set my timer for 10 minutes. when the timer went off, i waited a couple more minutes and went back inside. another employee gave me the same speech about not having foil, and told me there's a 15 minute wait. so now i know they're just pulling numbers out of their butts. it's already been 30. they ultimately had to resort to using little rectangular foil pans. I give them credit for being innovative, but they should have seen this coming before it actually happened. Somebody should've taken an inventory and realize they were going to need more foil before their shift was over and someone should've left to get the foil way in advance. Who knows what kind of lines there were at the store where they were going to get the foil in the first place. Poor planning. Poor management. I will never go there again if I can help it. read more

We go grab a burger and share a regular size fry with plenty to spare. The staff at this location almost know our order by heart. They build us amazing burgers. The usual is a single party cheeseburger "all the way". That includes lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, sauteed onions, mushrooms, ketchup, mayo, mustard on a sesame seed bun. This location repeatedly disappoints. We have placed online orders for pick-up, and every time, our food isn't ready at the specified time. We have had to wait 15 minutes after our designated pick-up each time we've placed orders. The second time this happened, I completed a survey and a manager contacted me to remedy the situation, which I really appreciated. He mailed a $10 gift card, and we used it on our next *late* order. This is now three times, so as the saying goes: three strikes & you're out. I will also add that our latest order was incorrect. We had ingredients not requested, missing ingredients, and very few toppings -- even for items we asked "extra" of. I love steak. Burgers...not so much. I mean, a burger is a burger right? Wrong! 5 Guys has the burger market cornered. You can go to any 5 Guys on any day and get the same burger and I'm big on consistency. The service at this particular location shoots my review to 5 stars. I did not know the regular bacon cheeseburger was 2 patties and the little was 1, so my first time I had way too much food but not a real problem lol. I totally support their "fill the bag up with fries" business model and you always get more than enough for yourself and to share with any sized order. *try the cajun*. Custom toppings on any burger with no extra charge creates a customizable experience and you're sure to get something you enjoy. They also have a veggie option for those who want to indulge in the the yummy hand cut fries but not the beef. Cost is $20 for burgers and fries for two, expect to spend $10 more if you go to a location with milkshakes but it's typical burger fare these days...a burger is now a masterpiece, not the same old burgers mom used to make. I struggled with my review for here. I don't think the burger is quite as good as my all time fave at Masons but it still is a really damn good burger worthy of appreciation. Bonus is I can get it and its not a smoky bar so that helps the rating too. It is a bit of a hike for me though. This also is a burger place where the toppings are super fresh and there is a good variety of them, sometimes I am in the mood for that. If thats your thing you will love it here. James and I swung by when we were in the neighborhood-ish. James was thrilled my new to try was a burger place as he likes them as much as I do. Unlike Rodger he was not thrilled to see Coke products as he is a Pepsi man. Atmosphere is basic and I don't care, it's a burger joint and I am not picky. James had a bacon cheeseburger with no condiments and I had a regular cheeseburger, semi loaded up (lettuce, tomato, onion, grilled onions, mayo, ketchup and mustard). Yep indeed both were doubles. Holy huge. Thank goodness we were super hungry, I still could only eat half. I liked the burger a little more than James, who liked his well enough. I think the difference was in the toppings, like I said if you like a dressed burger this is your spot, for a plainer type burger stick with Mason's or Millers. I am a girl who likes variety so I like em all. We decided to try both cajun and regular fries to split. That idea went out the window quickly as I loved the cajun and they were not his thing, yay more for me. They are a bit overwhelming but I liked that. Warning: This place is neither good for vegetarians or those with peanut allergies. There is nothing on the menu, except the fries, that would be suitable for a vegetarian at all. Inside there are boxes of peanuts in the shell just around the restaurant. I'm sure if you had a peanut allergy this would be instant death. Five Guys is a pretty simple place that serves just your basic burgers, hot dogs and fries. You can select from a large variety of toppings and condiments to get on your burger. The burger was served hot and juicy on a crispy grilled bun. The fries are decent. I expected this place to be a little less expensive. Everything is a la carte and I didn't see a combo option. This place is more expensive than your typical fast food, but it's also of higher quality. I found the interior to be somewhat obnoxious. The walls are white and reflect the bright lights of the high-powered fluorescent lights. There are inexplicably boxes and boxes of peanuts scattered around the place as if to form a maze. The employees cook the food and then yell back and forth but I couldn't understand what they were saying. Overall, not a bad meal, but I'm not compelled to return unless someone insists. read more

The security guard working Saturday, March 20th around 4:30 PM was an absolute pig of a human being on a power trip. It more than likely was an employee wearing a cheap security shirt. He didn't treat me like a paying customer, but like an inmate acting out of line. I walked in wanting to use the bathroom quickly. I was going to buy like a drink or fries, but I'm a regular customer of Five Guys at various locations. I was ordered to go back to the vestibule and informed "THERE'S A LINE, WAIT HERE FOR IT." I was like, dude, I just want to use the bathroom, is that ok? He repeated, yelling and pointing at me, "YOU HAVE TO WAIT HERE, YOU CAN'T GO IN, THIS IS THE LINE." I mean, he was just loving his little cheap security t-shirt and power trip. Here's the guy meant to maintain order in the store trying to start a fight with customers. Dude has no idea what he's doing. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who walked away without buying. I mean, you sell burgers and fries. I understand why your store may need security, but DWC next door treats their customers well, lets them use the bathroom and seems to be doing great business. I'm really not sure why Five Guys there has to be run like the inmate processing center at a maximum security prison If you really need to go to a Five Guys, just find another location. My dad, a Chicagoan relocated to Jacksonville, told me that Five Guys was the only place in Florida where he could get a decent burger. But he neglected to mention HOT DOGS. Then again, even when we would go to Superdawg together, he would get the whoopercheesie and I was the one who had the hot dog lust. I digress... Five Guys has a tasty burger. I love that all of the toppings are FREE -- including grilled mushrooms and grilled onions -- delish! And there is even FREE WHOLE PEANUTS! The fries are amazing and the hot dogs aren't bad. The hot dogs just didn't hit the sentimental hot dog button with me. My main gripe with this place is 2 fold: 1. The buns they use are generic McDonald's buns, and they just don't hold the ginormous burger together. They are tasteless after thoughts. 2. No Vienna All Beef hot dogs = automatic fail. Kosher hot dogs instead? Lame. Not as nearly as tasty in my opinion. But man, it's half the price of Red Coat Tavern and without any of the annoying wait! Excellent Five Guys experience. The grillman asked me how many patties I wanted as I was standing in line and started cooking them even before I placed my order. My usual Five Guys order is a bit complicated, but the cashier was flawless, getting the order right the first time. Because the burger was already cooking, the order was ready faster. Five Guys, that eternally loved east coast burger chain has made it's way to Detroit! For those who don't know it started out as a family business in the DC area and then expanded all over the east coast, famed for it's focused menu of handmade fresh lean ground beef burgers and fresh cut fries cooked in peanut oil. They try to make a point of this all over the restaurant, so those with peanut allergies, need not apply...or enter, especially with Five Guy's tradition of offering free self serve roasted peanuts which gives you something to snack on while you wait for your food. And since all burgers are made to order, it's normal to wait 5-10 min for your order once it's placed. Also something to note is the burgers are offered in 4 simple varieties: plain, cheeseburger, bacon, and bacon cheeseburger. Also burgers come in two sizes: 'regular' which actually means double patties and 'little' which really means a full McD quarter pounder size patty. Little burgers aren't little here!. Burgers are freshly made, juicy and excellent, but since their patties are 80% lean beef, they had a tendency to fall apart easily, so be prepared to finish with a fork & knife. The Southfield location is clean and well kept, with peanuts being kept in tidy boxes and floor free of shells unlike other FG restaurants. read more

Very disappointed in what I saw when I visited this restaurant on 12 Mile and Southfield. After I had already placed my order, I noticed the cashier scratching her head and then proceeded to help with orders, without washing her hands prior to putting on gloves. i have ordered from here several times and never had a problem. lunch time can get busy, but everyone moves pretty fast to get the orders done quickly. the cajun fries are a staple here, and you get more than enough in a (little) serving! the only thing about this location is that i wish they sold milkshakes like some of the other locations. read more

Five Guys has a website that says order online and your order will be waiting for you. NOT. I don't drive, I take Uber, so I expect the order to be ready. What Five Guys does instead, they wait for the customer to get there and THEN they start cooking the fries. Because of this I will never ever go to Five Guys again, because you say the order will be ready and it never is, if you don't cook the fries until the customer gets there. Someone should inform corporate headquarters about people who use uber/lyft to pick up orders called in an advance and are NEVER EVER ready at the time they state they will be ready. Five Guys, I remember when they first opened, I had a friend from the east coast that used to rave about them and I was happy to see one open close by to me so I could give it a try. They were slammed back then, I'd bet business is only about 1/3 now as you can normally walk right up and order, lines used to be out the door & no where to sit. I really love the peanuts while I wait, the service is friendly enough for fast food, the burgers are really good, bacon crisp ( I like it fried in peanut oil, yummy) and the soda cold. Fries are fresh cut which I'm really not a fan of, but they do give you a bunch. The wait is on the longer side for fast food, but is worth it especially when you are chowing down on peanuts. read more

This was my In-and-Out burger replacement when I was living out in DC. I'm glad they have one in the Detroit area now. It's a great burger joint and a legendary chain. Mmmmm... 5 Guys in my mouth, what a great idea. Okay, so I had heard of these restaurants before but hadn't had a chance to try it until tonight. Let me say this first... I really like the way the place is set up. It's similar to Fuddruckers in that you order, pay, and they bring it to your table. Plus it's cool that they give you free peanuts. The Bacon Burger was absolutely delicious. I had it with pickles, tomato, and jalapenos... OUT OF THIS WORLD TASTE. They used all fresh ingredients. I got a total boner when I realized the jalapenos weren't from a jar, but sliced fresh. The fries were the best fries I have ever eaten. Everything was really fresh and price was very very reasonable. I wish we had one in Flint, but these love handles need to peace out, not grow bigger. Maybe it's a good thing that there isn't one by me, because I would have 5 Guys in my mouth every day. After having a fantastic experience at the mound location!!!!! I didn't hesitate to put a order in I was on the other side of town!! But this time it was a complete disaster!!!!!!!!! After placing my order it took over an hour to get my food there must've been 15 people waiting for their order, nobody had control of the restaurant the customers didn't know what to do. The girl that was giving out the food had the worst attitude had her headset on and it was on her phone most of the time. She wasn't following any of the company procedures and her attitude!!!!! No one communicated at all!!! There where 10 orders, all partially made all sitting on the counter. Unless you walked up to the counter somehow got her attention and asked about your order was the only way you were about to get it!!! The other girl doing the beverages and helping her was just as bad!!! The kitchen seem to be overwhelmed understaffed and under trained!! There were at least seven people working behind the counter and again none of them working together. Customer service was nonexistent!!! Needless to say my order was made right but was cold the french fries were horrible and I got about a triple order but they were ice cold!! The execution was a disaster at this place. I believe the manager was cooking in the back but when you have a staff with a terrible attitude that the staff had they were doomed to fail!!! A little apology or communication with the guest would've made all the difference in the world instead of just ignoring us and leaving us standing in the dining room!! read more
