The food is delicious. But expensive. I got the little cheeseburger and little fries- for $8.03. That's not even the regular size or with a drink. If you want a burger that's more delicious and cheaper head down the street to In-N-Ot. They also play the music way too loud, the cashier couldn't even hear what I ordered and I didn't hear her. Also I ordered "everything" which apparently means mushrooms as well. More my fault for not noticing, but just a heads up for those who plan to go hear. I have been here more than a few times now and I have to say it is probably the best burger I've ever had. I haven't had a McDonald's burger in years, and the lowest I will go with fast-food it Jack-in-the-Box or maybe Carl's Jr. (depending on the location). From having tasted varieties from the mentioned above, to In-and-Out, to any local bar-and-grill, Five Guys is hands-down the best burger out there. And even though it is (slightly) pricier than other burger places, one Bacon Cheeseburger (normal with two patties) can easily fill me up, leaving me with no need for fries or nuts. I agree with some others that their fries are OK, but I am not a french-fry person and do not miss having them with my meal. The establishment itself is clean, but can be loud and annoying during key meal hours (especially dinner during the week). I especially enjoy the radio station they play, since the bulk of it is definitely my taste of music and adds to the atmosphere. I can only hope other Five Guys are up to this standard of food quality, and I look forward to trying them out when I am visiting other cities that are lucky enough to have one of these establishments. read more

Been coming here for a while. Tested out the online app ordering. They must not be too familiar with it as I saw an employee walking a cust out to their car (great service) with my order. I informed the guys behind the counter (who are great) and after verifying that my order did go out with someone else, they immediately set about remaking my order, however that kinda negated the whole point of ordering ahead of time . Quite possibly the best tasting fast food burgers around. They also won't cost you an arm and a leg. The grilled cheese sandwiches are ridiculously priced for what they are, two slices of bread with cheese in the middle. Nothing wrong with this place but didn't live up to the hype... I spent months hearing how great 5 guys is and how it blows in n out out of the water... I don't think so. I find the fries ok, do not like the powdery/grittiness of their cajun style fries... I like the idea of the simple menu but find every time I order it lacks flavor. Looks like a buger I would make at home but doesn't taste like much of anything... Worst part is the bun - it's unfailingly weak, tasteless and falls apart as if it's wet (which it often is and is not helped by the fact the burger is wrapped in foil that cauases it to essentially steam the bun). 3 stars, I don't hate the place but I will always go to in n out given the choice (and the price). read more

I just don't get the hype. It's a fine burger and the fries are decent (they need to be double crisp though), but I've had better. I also don't understand the endless comparisons to In-n-Out, they are totally different places, the only thing they share is the use of the word burger. I think everyone who is building up that battle is the victim of some clever marketing. They really are two different experiences. In this area, they'd be better compared to say a Phyllis's Giant Burger or something. Actually, The Counter is closer to Five Guys if you want to go into Corte Madera for that taste test. I would eat at Five Guys but not if there was a big line. I think the love is more about the hype of their marketing than the food being mind blowing. They do have a good selection of toppings. I have never been disappointed by their burgers, and their choices for toppings at no extra charge can't be beat. I give them an average rating for the fact that I opted for the hot dog this time. The bun and dog are decent, nothing really special. What really got me was the incredible lack of toppings. I basically got my normal toppings from my burger and put them instead on the bacon cheese dog. I can normally barely contain the amount of extra delicious food falling out of my burger...the complete opposite for my dog. I am literally digging for bbq sauce. Another reason for the average stars is the weird set up they have for the restaurant, I always feel like I'm in someone's way while I'm waiting for my food. The burgers are pretty good! You can order it anyway you like, any condiment or topping that they have on the menu board. I feel like their prices are a little bit high, but it does taste good and fresh. Employees are very nice and their french fries are delicious! I used to go to In'N'Out; I now go to 5 Guys. First things first: A "little" burger is just a single patty, so make sure you know this before you order. The burgers are up fast and taste good. You get a bunch of fries when you order them, which means plenty to share. The hot dogs are sliced down the middle which helps to bring about their flavor. Free peanuts too, so if you are allergic then this place isn't for you. Overall a good mess of food for your money. Plus they have an on-line ordering system which is easy to use and convenient if you want to pay by credit card and have your food ready for when you show up. The music some people complain about? It's rock and roll, not Yanni or Celine Dion. I for one am glad that 5 Guys doesn't blast the crap that KZST has every other business in Sonoma County hooked on. Or top 40 crappy stuff either. Fast, decent price, good grub, nice tunes. Give it a try. read more

These guys can't get an order right to save their lives! Been here a few times now and EVERY single time, something goes wrong! This time we ordered a few different burgers, fries, and drinks. Although their actual burger patty is tasty the rest is not! First of all, they do not carry seedless buns, and their suggestion of 2 bottoms doesn't work, there's still seeds pressed into the sides. For anyone who cannot have seeds, this is an issue! My husband actually walked to Safeway to buy me seedless buns! Yes, I know, he's awesome :) So, anyway their burgers are super greasy and literally the whole thing falls apart in your hand. The burgers and fries are good. Minus 2 stars because they've gotten our order wrong every time we've been there. We got an order to go today. 2 burgers (one lettuce wrapped) & 2 fries. It appeared as though our burgers were buried under the fries (spilling out all over inside the bag), no big deal. When we got home and ripped the bag open it turns out there was only 1 burger in the bag, the "lettuce wrapped" burger was smashed at the bottom of the bag in a foil tray, all the ingredients but no lettuce. Personally, I am upset that there is not a zero star rating because this burger joint definitely earned all zero of them. The cashier was cross-eyed and I could not tell if he was looking at me or the wall, so my initial contact with Five Guys was not "looking" good. When I received the burger (in a classy, brown paper bag) I was still optimistic because of the recommendations of friends and acquaintances. Looking back, it is clear that I have become the latest victim of a nationwide prank. If it weren't for my hunger pangs and the high price tag I would have tossed this burger in the trash after the first bite. You can see all of the toppings, but taste buds don't lie, and all they said was GREASE! I could not even taste the bacon, which is one of the most un-American crimes I can think of. In fact, I believe there is a ballot measure in the upcoming election in California to make this sort of infraction a misdemeanor. Look it up. Bleachh!! Ordered online, convenient yes but they totally messed up my order. Did not give my gf the drink I ordered. Asked her if she ordered a drink, she says "I dont know I didnt order it." I know I said that I'd never darken the door of this placed again, but I went to two other Five Guys restaurants since my first review. In each case, rock music was playing but at a subdued level which allowed conversation without having to raise one's voice or be distracted or annoyed when reading. Unfortunately, the Santa Rosa location hasn't changed. It's probably due to its location across from a Junior College and that may mean that patrons don't care about conversation or a (reasonably) pleasant place to eat. On arrival, I could still hear the music two doors away (they must have patient neighbors). This is a great place to grab a burger. My experiences at 5 guys have all been great with the exception of the occasional cashier that possess the personality of a plank of wood. The food is always well cooked and exactly as I order it (I'm very particular so have a specific order). I always order the smallest fries because they give you bag fries to keep the burger warm and it equates to another small order of fries. The food is a good bang for your buck and it certainly wont leave you hungry. read more

The staff at this restaurant offers very poor customer service. My first visit in was to pick up an order for a friend. The doors were open at 11:25 a.m. and as I walked in the staff were sitting on the tables, feet on the chairs and chatting. I asked if they were open for me to pick up an order and was told they didn't open till 11:30 a.m. I left an came back 15 min later. A few days ago a friend and I went in to have a meal and the employee that took our order was not clear about the standard garnishments. I read from the RED line on the board and he said, "THE BLACK" when my friend said look above the items in RED. The employee asked my friend if he wanted "Double Patties" on his cheeseburger and that's what my friend ordered. When we picked up our order, my friend discovered that he only had one patty on his burger sandwich. He went back to the servers, and instead of taking his burger and adding the 2nd patty, they sent him back to the table with his burger and then brought him a foil tray with the 2nd patty w/cheese for my friend to put in his burger sandwich. I'd ordered the kiddie bacon cheese burger and when I unwrapped my burger the whole sandwich was slipping apart. The big wad of lettuce was falling out of one side as the tomatoes and bun top slipped the other direction. Then I discovered there was only one skimpy piece of bacon on the burger. The presentation of our burgers for a "Dining-In" experience was atrocious, They were slapped together and when wrapped in the foil the buns were smashed and the sandwiches slipping apart. For the price I paid for our burgers and beverages ... NO FRIES ... I would've expected a much better dining experience. All in All this was a VERY DISSAPPOINTING dining experience and I won't go back. read more

Five guys gets one star from me. People compare it to in n out but to me there's almost no comparison. In Santa Rosa, go down the street to in n out, wait a little longer but save your money and eat a way better burger. Five guys is expensive and the burgers were just okay, fries were pretty good. The dining room was also dirty and we waited until 3 people got their food in front of us. Once we got the burgers, we both got the little burgers and they had a couple inches of space until the bun. The ingredients did seem fresh but were just okay. If people on the East Coast only have Five guys then that's okay for them as an alternative. If you a a member of the In-N-Out cult, don't bother. Personally, I prefer the fries at 5 Guys, they actually taste good. My one suggestion is that they should consider some seasoning for the meat. Not a fan of the peanuts on the floor thing, it just makes the place look dirty. The music is so damn loud and I felt rushed. I got that "go on and git, digest later" feeling.

I would never come back to this place ever again. The place was a mess dirty floors and bathroom was disgusting. The urinal over flowed all over the floor. The only table that I could sit at with my family had the time had a broken shade so the sun was in our eyes the entire time. The order was messed up and when we went to get it corrected Jose Cruz up front did not believe us and made us open up the burger to make sure it was wrong. Ordered curbside pickup. I arrived five minutes before my scheduled pickup time, clicked the text link to let them know I was there. Waited fifteen minutes with no response, then tried to call. No one picked up. Called again, they finally answered but put me on hold. They left me on hold for five or ten minutes. I hung up. Went inside, waited in line another ten minutes. When I reached the front of the line and asked for my order, explaining it was supposed to be a curbside pickup, first they inexplicably seemed to be telling me they knew I'd arrived and that I'd tried to call by showing me the missed call notifications on their phone. Then they sent me to the pickup window, where none of the many workers acknowledged me. After several minutes, I went back to the cashier and interrupted her to ask for a refund. No, no, no, she said, food is ready. I told her that appeared not to be true, but followed her back to the pick up counter. A very confused worker located the bag and handed it to me. So I spent something like 30 or 35 minutes trying to pick up my fast food meal, getting more and more annoyed, and after all that, after eating, spent the evening in the bathroom because clearly they don't practice hygiene. I would just chalk this up to one bad experience but something identical happened at the Petaluma location last September. At least that time I didn't get sick. No more Five Guys for me. read more

So today I went to see what all the hype was about; I went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Upon entering the establishment, I immediately thought to myself that this place was an In-N-Out ripoff. The other thing that caught my attention was the wall of peanuts that was next to me while I was waiting in line. At this point still not impressed. It was my turn, and I walked up to the counter, and the cashier explained to me the basic premise behind 5 Guys. I understood; then my daughter and I proceeded to order. We got our food about five minutes later. There really wasn't a good place to wait for my food because the place was to packed. My number was called, I picked up my food and went home... now the good part. I was very surprised at how much I liked my food. I ate my regular bacon cheeseburger (two patties of meat is what regular means at this place) with everything (all of the condiments listed in black: the usual suspects with the addition of bacon, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, and BBQ sauce) and my Cajun fries. At the end of my meal, my daughter and I both agreed that this place was better than In-N-Out! I can't believe that I said/typed that but its true. I feel that Five Guys Burger and Fries' food is on par with In-N-Out, but having the option to add: bacon, grilled mushrooms, jalepenos, hot sauce, A-1, or BBQ sauce all for free to your burger gives Five Guys the slight edge. Cajun fries just means that they add Cajun spice to your fries, but again this was a very nice touch. I still love In-N-Out, but I am now a fan of the Five Guys and their burger! read more

Hands down, the best burger I've had in my life. Five Guys is often compared to In-N-Out, which I don't think is a fair comparison is fair. Both places serve great food but I'm here to talk about Five Guys. Their burgers are real first off - no frozen stamped out patties. The flavors are individual and spectacular. You can actually taste the cheese which I thought was a weird thing to think at first but everyone else seems to agree, it's not fancy gourmet cheese but for some reason it feels as though it should be. I usually get all toppings except for mayo and it comes out perfect every time. Well worth the hefty price and wait. Just be careful when ordering. Their "Little" burgers are single patties (nothing little about them). Their regulars refer to double pattied monstrosities. The fries are thick and hefty - almost like a steak fry. Great burger. Different philosophy than In 'n' Out when it comes to the standard "burger and fries" thing. 1) all toppings are free (except I think the bacon and cheese, not unusual) 2) there are two tiers of toppings, first the works, which is ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, tomatoes, lettuce. the second tier is stuff like jalapenos, relish, peppers, etc. The choice of toppings is significant. I like that. A lot. 3) The size of the fries is pretty big. However, the "Cajun Fries" had a TON of spice on them. I like stuff with flavor, but in this case it was too much. I couldn't even finish them. That might be a personal preference, but I'm not picky, and this definitely was too much. 4) Friendly staff. Maybe even more friendly and courteous than the In 'n' Out people. That's saying something. 5) Good drink selection. There were more choices than just Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, Root Beer and Water. 6) The only other slight bummer was the fact that the food took a bit longer than I hoped. There were 6 people ahead of me in line but it took what seemed like a long time for them to finally call my number. Maybe I was just starving. Who knows? All in all a great experience and definitely on the level of In 'n' Out, but by no means a knockoff experience. I've eaten here a few times every time a slow roll down hilll.. fries oversalted,old oil,gross.I know the place is peanut friendly and sometimes mess but this place is dirty. Burger was disgusting there was a plastic string in my burger. Cooking area filthy if i can see where you cook it better not be a hot mess. Eating area is messy,tables,chairs are sticky.
