Calling in has met with mixed results, waiting behind the cars and walking forward isn't very safe as well as it's degrading. The last few times I told myself "Never again!" Actually, every time! I've been here 1 from to 5 times a month, since December 2019, when I started working down the street a block. Three visits ago, I tried calling again from the intersection, but nope, I couldn't place an order that way. Had to wait in line. Two days ago, I called and said, "Hey, look, it's dark and rainy, let me call in an order. I'm in your lot." That worked out well, but then the first window told me to wait until all the cars ahead of me had passed. Then they told me to go pay at the 2nd window, because my food was ready, and I still had to stand back and wait for car after car, after she had said she'd help me, "after this car." I asked when are you going to open up inside and just two days ago I was told that they didn't have the staff to open up inside. Then today, while a car left a space while he was ordering, I just proceeded to the window and ordered. She didn't say, "Just go inside... it's open now." So, I had to stand there between the cars while some customer complained that I had just walked up and cut in front of him. If I had gone inside to begin with, I would have been ahead of him! The situation is, either you close your windows to walk-up traffic, or indicate out front whether your inside is open, or closed, or just have one plan that you use consistently, because we truckers are SICK TO DEATH of the COVID-19 rules that have so negatively impacted our eating for a year and a half, while the rest of the public can sit in their cars, park in designated spots and have food brought to them, and not be treated like second class citizens with a disease!

Food was consistently good. I got the Country Boy which was ham, eggs, hashbrown casserole and fried apples. Kid got a NY Strip and eggs. I have to tell you, I was surprised how tender it looked. He cut into it like a hot knife through butter. He said it was very good. Unfortunately, the service seemed overwhelmed. We never got any napkins. Never got refills on our water or iced tea. That was just a little rough. All in all, it's consistent with every other cracker barrel. I have to cut a star out for lack of attention. At least check on us once. I don't mind waiting. I honestly don't. I'm very rarely in a rush, but just be attentive.

To make things worse, our server brought the check right after my food arrived because everyone else was done. Once we paid, she stopped checking on our table--even though I was still eating. I couldn't get a refill or any service at all. The delays were frustrating, but being forgotten while I was still eating made the experience even worse.
