Must deduct two stars: 1) Not having a sign for customers with instructions to scan the bar code found on order receipt to obtain your fountain drink. Max limit to scan three times and must fill or refill your beverage within so many seconds. If not, beverage machine will not dispense liquid. If running into issues, kindly speak with the MOD. 2) Fast food restaurant ran out of ice two hours before COB. We found out about the operation of dispensing machine from a kind, younger gentleman that frequents this location. Not from an employee or management. Ambiance consists of red, white and black theme. Cons: Not able to order in person. There are only two employees prepping and cooking your food. Pros: Nearest location to Cedar Point. Free parking in the lot. Must place your order at one of the two kiosk. We ordered at the kiosk and waited 45 minutes. Food was never prepared. Since other customers were waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes without food, we asked for a refund and left. Only a few employees were working. Other employees were just hanging out. Update: Just reviewed my credit card statement. Steak 'n Shake never issued a charge credit for my cancelled order. If they provide you with a receipt that says your order was voided and shows an overpayment amount, it is NOT a charge credit. You are still being charged for the food that you never received. Employees let our food sit off to the side for 45 minutes while they served other customers. not only that, but they didn't even offer us anything in consolation. Just a cold bag of food I cannot believe I allowed myself to believe that this was a quality establishment. They showed our food zero regard, had to come home and reheat everything. I placed an order at 7:47 and did not receive my food until 40 minutes later. When I did receive my meal, the fries were incredibly soggy and unpleasant to eat. There was only one man working in the kitchen because the manager and other employee on duty went on a smoke break before completing all the orders on screen or informing the remaining employee what was not complete. This place is trash! The place is dirty! You definitely don't want to have to sit in there. On top of that the employees are all arguing with each other instead of doing their jobs. They also don't care that your standing there waiting and no one ever come out to ask what you need! This Steak 'n Shake is beyond saving in my opinion. It is so far gone and off the mark. The inside is filthy. It smells dirty. Bathrooms are disgusting. They had a list of items that they were out of written in sharpie on a piece of printer paper. Included in this list was shakes of all kinds. I was in a hurry and did not notice this piece of paper. They're so understaffed, I had to use a kiosk that allowed me to place an order for four different milkshakes. The only person that was there was an underage (he told me) employee by himself. This is against the law. He was stressed out and trying to do his best. He informed me he was on the last week of his two weeks notice. He told me the manager should be back at some point. I waited for the manager to get back to find out how unprofessional and rude she was. She was condescending and tried to shame me for not reading the cardboard sign on the window that said "no shakes". I informed her that I noticed the larger illuminated sign that said "steak 'n SHAKE" The manager had no idea how to give me a refund. I ended up having to get one issued through my bank. This is the second or third time we have had a poor experience at this location. This was the worst time by far. This steak 'n Shake needs to close its doors. No one is actually managing this location. Save yourself some time and go somewhere else. read more

That was probably the most disgusting restaurant I have ever come to. I didn't mind ordering at the Kiosk. However you have to scan a QR for the pop. We didn't understand that when we did it. So didn't get a QR Code. EVERY table in the restaurant was dirty. The staff was nice but the food was terrible. Not what I remember Steak n Shake Being. The floors were also gross. Food: 3 out of 3 Okay the food was amazing! I got the Triple Steakburger (no cheese) and it came amazing. The beef patties were thinner than advertised on their menu but they sure were tasty and juicy. The burger came with a slice of tomato, lettuce, raw onion, a pickle, ketchup and mustard. The fries were more of the shoestring kind and crunchy but at the same time the insides still retained some moistness. And to my surprise they gave me a side of their cheese sauce which was awesome. The cheese sauce went well with both the fries and the burger! Price: 1 out of 1 My Triple Steakburger cost me $3.99 plus tax. Was that crazy or what??? Service: 0 out of 1 Unfortunately I'd have to give zero in this department since we had to wait literally 15 mins to get seated and about 45 mins to get our food. And it wasn't because of the wait staff's fault. They had to wait tables, bus them, bring food to customers AND make the shakes. From my conversation with locals, this wasn't surprising as the management team was aware of this but didn't do anything to help their wait staff. It was such a shame. I left my purse there 12/16/24 I didn't realize this until I got home and called. I live 2 hrs away so I was relieved when they told me they would ship it to my house, that never happened. I called multiple times and every time I call it's a different story. Each person gives a different date that the purse was sent. They have shady employees who basically stole from me and lied to me consistently. I had to cancel all my cards, order new ID. I had cash and had to replace a purse and wallet, not to mention the constant stress this has caused me. I have all the receipts, recorded phone calls and phone logs so we will see if corporate can fix this before the authorities do. read more

I had never been, but heard a bunch of things..so it was time to lose the Steak 'n Shake virginity. It's good cheap food, and it's open 24 hours. You can't really go wrong. Think fancy/upscale fast food establishment. We walked in and the sign said to wait to be seated. It was pretty much empty when we got there with the exception of 1 table. Well, we waited and waited. Finally we were seated. Took a little bit longer than it should've. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and added Cajun spice. It's was only a $0.30 upgrade, so why not? It was delicious. The chicken had a great amount of spice, and the fries were tasty. The Cajun spice was great. Even though my meal sounds unhealthy, it didn't taste bad for me. It wasn't greasy at all. The bun was good too. It didn't taste like it was from yesterday, or last week. Lol My friend ordered I believe, a steakhouse burger and Parmesan fries. He enjoyed it. He also got a banana milkshake which he stated was the best milkshake he's ever had. One thing that confused me was that I saw other people getting water refills from a pitcher, but when our waitress asked me if I wanted more water, she brought my glass to the back with her to give me my refill. That's a little odd. Everyone else gets it from a pitcher, but my refill comes from the back? Strange. Food was delicious, but the water refill did not sit well with me. RUN! We are from Michigan and we love steak and shake. We were excited to see that they had one right outside the Great wolf lodge parking lot when we stayed there. During one of the days we stayed, we pulled into the parking lot. We were very surprised when we saw that it was empty. We thought at first that they may have been closed due to staffing issues, because we had ran into that issue a couple of times already during our trip. We then saw a customer pull into the drive thru and get served so we decided to go inside. What we saw inside made perfect sense as to why the parking lot was empty. The place was a disgusting mess with not a customer in sight. Everything was greasy and dingy and smelly, there was ketchup and grease smeared near the garbage cans and some of the tables. What dumbfounded us is how it got that way with nobody in there. They must not have cleaned up right in a really really long time. Needless to say we were so grossed out that we walked back out and ate at the Culver's across the street. What a shame for this location so be so dirty because they could be doing a lot of business in that prime location. read more

I stopped in while visiting Sandusky. The service was ok. She was fairly attentive. Not really friendly, not rude or unfriendly. Perhaps she had a long day and was ready to go home. The food was good. I felt it was a good value for my money. I'm not a fan of the thin fries they serve here. It's my personal preference I can't fault them for that. I probably won't return as I don't really go to Sandusky that much. But I definantly will visit other locations . read more

brought the kids to cedar point for the weekend. We tried 4 different times to come for a late breakfast or a late dinner. Says open at 10 am, never once on our trip did the open at 10am. the is says closes at 10pm. I went there on a Friday evening at 940 and they added another sign saying closed early. This steak n shak is a joke. Don't even open the doors if you can't staff it properly. This place should be shut down for lack of management. This is one of my favorite fast food chains in the states. It's a classic 50's diner with a large variety of deliciously thick milkshakes, and tasty ground steak hamburgers. But my absolute favorite thing here is the cheese sauce. On my most recent trip I had the cheesy cheddar burger with fries and a side of cheese sauce. It was the perfect amount of food, and while I generally don't like shoe string fries, these are great. So much cheese on the burger and fresh vegetables to top it off. I've been to this location a number of times. The service is fast and friendly - often chatting you up about your day etc. and not in a way that seems forced. I took a star off b/c while he did it in a friendly way, the manager wouldn't let me buy a can of their cheese sauce to take home! lol read more

This place was absolutely awful! We were looking for a good place to eat while in town to visit Cedar Point. We walked in and immediately the employee was irritated that us and the couple behind us walked in when the doors were "supposed" to be locked despite it only being 830 when they close at 10. Every single table was disgusting, as were the booths and floor. Don't even get me started on how awful the bathrooms were. When we asked to get a table wiped down or for a rag to do it ourselves the employee rolled her eyes and said it would be a minute. I will not be returning to this location ever. Or quite frankly any other steak and shake after this experience. read more

Two stars because the shake and the burger were VERY good, once we managed to actually get them. Coming here is a time investment akin to starting a novel. You get into it with the sights and smells and then you sit and wait for your order to be taken (in my case 18 minutes), then you sit and wait for the food to arrive...(in my case 37 minutes). Once it arrives it is sooo good you nearly forget about the service being so awful. I have rarely had such an offhand experience with someone whose income I controlled via my tip. The simply don't care if you are there or if you will ever come back again. I feel like they would rather that I didn't show up so they could have more time to do nothing. Eh... Checked this spot out for lunch again this time when in town. My husband loves Steak and Shake as he grew up in an area where they were common. I on the other hand feel Steak and Shake is okay. Kids ate free when the day we ate there although the mini corn dog meal ( five teeny tiny corn dogs and a side if applesauce) was too small for my 8 year old so we ordered him a second meal which we paid for. It didn't come with a side the second time...which seemed odd but we didn't want to hunt the waitress down again...plus everyone else at the table was already done eating. We made the mistake of ordering from this Steak 'n Shake during our trip to the Great Wolf Lodge next door. It was a horrendous experience. Placed order on their own website at 6:03 and it said would be ready at 6:15. When my husband got there, the dining room was closed so he had to wait in a long drive thru line. He waited 6 minutes at the window before anyone even came to the window. At this point it is 6:32 and they told him the order hadn't been started yet. So my husband waited in the parking lot until he finally received his order at 6:56. He brought it back and they didn't give us one of the kids meals we ordered. So we had nothing to feed my 3 year old... Husband called to explain they were missing a meal and the rude store worker told him to "call the app and get a refund" instead of offering to make the food or apologizing. The food was horrible and freezing cold, like it was sitting there for a while. The workers didn't care at all. This place should get shut down. Not a bad choice before your fun day at cedar point. My roommate thought it was "awesome, so good, the food was delicious." This is probably a result of him missing the last exit for food, so we ate lunch about an hour later than we intended. This steak n shake isn't too much different from other ones I've been to. They had great service even though they were pretty busy. I had the guacamole steak burger, but wasn't super impressed with it. Really meager amount of guacamole. Let me say the food was great for the most part and the price was even better. After a long day working the Super Summit Show we wanted a quick bite to eat before heading to our hotel. We decided on Steak 'n Shake as we don't have one back home in California, at least not one super close by. We ordered two burgers, a shake and some chili cheese fries. The ordering process went pretty smoothly except for when I tried to order a peanut butter banana milkshake. I was told they could not do the side by side in those two flavors or combine them, weird, but whatever. We decided on the peanut butter shake and I've got to say it was one of the best shakes I have ever had. The burgers were equally as yummy. The chili fries on the other hand left something to be desired, the fries were lackluster, the chili had beans and zero flavor and I think the cheese was a cheese sauce if I am not mistaken, bleh. It did take forever to get our food also. I estimate we waited about 30 minutes in the drive through, which is pretty ridiculous. I would be back for the burgers and shakes, but that is about it. I don't know how this Steak 'n Shake is still in business. The customer service skills here are very poor. If you dine in here the cleanliness of the place isn't that great. The whole place is very dirty. If you order in the drive thru you wait at least 5 minutes or more until your acknowledged by the drive thru attendant. When completing your order it will be unlikely that there are no cars in front of you. If there are cars in front of you there is a good chance you will have to wait awhile to get up to the drive thru window. When I pulled up to the drive thru window the employees gave me an unpleasant look. I just ordered a milkshake and their enthusiasm wasn't that great. The staff seems to get upset when you place a order here. When I finally received my order they weren't very nice about it. When I asked why does it take so long to get my order, they gave me a not so great response. Just not a very good experience overall. read more
