Fries

My all time favorite chili dog. This place is unbelievable. Seasonal as it's busy time in the summer. Menu is just hot dogs, chili, cheese and fries. Some ice cream and sodas as well. No nonsense. Quick and easy to order. Super fast service. We stop at this place every time we visit the Islands. Between $2.50-$4.00 for a dog. The chili is not like any other chili I've had. Meaty, and cheesy. Sometimes I get mustard on it and other times I don't. Pretty easy and basic review. Definitely a 9.3 out of 10. Highly recommend it.

We have eaten at Netty's several times. My boyfriend loves it, but I'm not really a fan. The place is always packs and I'm not sure why. I ordered a chili dog with onions and a fry. They put too much chili on it and the bun so so soggy ans no onions. The chili is more like taco bell meat. They wrap it in wax paper and all the grease just soaks threw and makes a mess.

I love this place! For years we would drive by after taking the boat to Kelley's but never stopped. I finally tried it last summer and now I am hooked! I don't know how they do it but it is the best chili cheese dog of my life. Not a huge fan of the fries, they are a little bland for me. Cannot forget a malt while you're there, I love a chocolate peanut butter malt! This sounds silly but I got a large ice water to go and they actually gave me a large cup and it was so refreshing. I think they charge a quarter for the water but on these hot summer days it is worth it!

I was staying in Sandusky recently and passed Netty's a few times. It has such a quaint, Americana feel about it. Right across from a high school and walkup service only. The kind of place you'd see featured in a period piece set in the 70s or something. I got a caramel sundae, which was pretty much your standard McDonald's softserve variety. But I loved it. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was so inviting. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Peach Slushie

A long time area favorite. It's also popular with tourists checking out the islands. Netty's is one of those neighborhood food stands. Menu is mostly all hot dogs and ice cream. They also have good slushies. I like finding these neighborhood hangouts. It wasn't busy at all the day we stopped here. My companion wanted something cold so we stopped. It doesn't look like anything noteworthy. It's just outdoor seating only. There's a walk up window. It has some tables in front. We ordered. I got a peach slushie because it was an unusual flavor. It's about $2 for a medium size. This was a decent tasting slushie. It wasn't great but it was okay. She had some ice cream that was something mixed with vanilla. It was reported to be not that bad. This did the job of cooling off. It also has hot food. Most of it is greasy stuff like fries. There was nothing that appealed to us.

Chili cheese dog no bun. Was supposed to be no onion, clearly was not no onion.

The root beer float was nasty. Staff wasn't friendly. We will just keep driving on by next time.

The main difference (recipe wise) between "Lafayette Coney Island" and the inferior "American…read moreConey" is the chili & onions. American uses boring "sweet onions" while Lafayette uses "SPANISH onions " which have more kick. But the real difference is the Chili, and that's the reason for the split & disagreement. Lafayette has a MEATER chili, meaning they don't skimp on quality ingredients. My best friend and I used to skip school in the 80's just to eat here. And the bathroom is COOL! It's like an adventure! The other main difference is American Coney has open seating because REAL Detroiters don't eat there. When interviewed there's a real character difference between owners. Grace Keros, the 3rd gen owner of American Coney likes to talk sh1t. You don't need to do that when your product is superior. Every interview she gives is sour grapes. Plus REAL Detroiters Coney dogs never put CHEESE on the coneys. American Coney = FAKE Detroit Coneys. Here is a pic of me in my $4Million Batmobile. Batman prefers Lafayette!

This was a classic spot that served classic Coney dogs, burgers, fries, and even pies. The place…read morewas small with a counter to sit at with several tables. The food was ready right away. The Coney dog ($4) was ordered. It had the classic toppings of bean less chili, yellow mustard, and raw chopped white onions. This was solid. There was a nice bite on the chili with plenty of mustard and onions. The bread was soft and the hot dog was cooked appropriately. The chili was the key as it was hearty and meaty. Will I go back? Yeah, sure.
