I'm a fan of 5 Guys ever since I first tried it on a whim during a trip to Baltimore. Let's not get shit twisted. It's a burger joint, not a fine dining establishment. It's reasonably priced, though I can see why people would quibble when everything comes out to over $10. Meh. I think it's worth it but to each his own. Their burger is just a burger, and a tasty one at that. They have all sorts of toppings you can add on so go for it. I'm a simple dude, so I don't go overboard with the stuff. Another reviewer said the fries weren't that good. I'd strongly disagree. Their cajun fries are delicious. What's more is that they'll give you an overflowing cup of fries (and then some) in a brown paper bag along with your burger. You seriously get a lot of fries here. One cool quirk: in addition to the regular condiments, they always have a bottle or three of malt vinegar to put on your fries for all of you northerners. read more

I discovered 5 guys many years back and have found all of their locations to be fairly consistent on food quality. This location is no exception. I would put 5 guys as my favorite hamburger in San Antonio. I have tried several of the known hotspots in town like Chris madrids and Chesters and feel the quality and taste of meat is better here at 5 guys. Since their regular burgers are a double, I settle for the little cheeseburger and the wife gets one "lettuce wrapped". We share a small Cajun fry between us since they are so big and it is perfect. My complaint is not about the food. My complaint is the lack of customer service! I may have well walked into a freezer, both the temperature & staff were as cold as ice. I asked the cashier (young, big African American man with a black beenie on) "why is it so cold in here?" He literally stared at me and did not respond at all. Nothing, the man said nothing. I had to go wait in my car for my food and get a baby blanket out of the car to wrap around me just to sit inside in order to eat. I asked the young man who brought me my food the same question "why is it so cold in here?" This young man simply handed me my food and walked away. So even though the food may have been prepared correctly, I was too cold to sit and enjoy it. Not sure when I'll be back here again. Oh and I just don't understand why there is a tip jar and the register asks you if you want to tip. These employees make above minimum wage and are not working in the service industry like a bartender or waiter who are tipped because they only make $1.97 an hour! One thing I look for in food is consistency. Consistency in brand, flavor, product & service. Recently we traveled to Paris, and after few days of attempting to eat Parisian food & a late night craving of burgers we ventured out to Champs Èlysèes. I cannot stress to you how safe we felt at 5 guys @ late hours in Paris. Fast forward 7 days, hubby & I driving by Dezavala. We remembered what great burgers. We popped in & enjoyed dinner. Five Guys, you've become my current food obsession. I just wish you were healthier! My sister lives in Phoenix and has been bugging me for months to go to Five Guys. The closest one was quite far away from my house so when I saw there was a Five Guys moving closer to me, trying it was one of the first things on my to do list. First off, the location is great! You can't get a better spot on DeZavala. The parking is great. Out of all the times I've been here, I've never had an issue with parking. When you walk in the restaurant, you have to order your food with the cashier, they give you a number and your food comes out shortly thereafter. The prices are definitely reasonable but aren't really that cheap. Don't be expecting McDonald's quality burgers and fries here, because it's way, way better! For three people (two adults and one kid) it cost us $25 which really isn't that bad at all for what you're getting. The customer service was really great. Everyone was really welcoming and friendly. The first time I went to five guys, I ordered a large fry and expecting it to be enough for myself only, when the other people in my party wanted to order more fries, she quickly told us the large fry could feed 3-4 people and she didn't think we needed to buy it. I'm glad she told us, otherwise we would've had a crapload of fries we had to throw away!! Now on to the food. The burgers are GREAT! When you're ordering, YOU get to choose what you want on your burger. You don't automatically have lettuce, tomato and onion on your burger - you get what YOU want. I love that. The fries are freaking amazing. Arturo said how he doesn't like the way the fries are made or taste, but I have to say - I absolutely LOVE the fries. Put some extra salt and some malt vinegar on top and you are set!! Dining area is extremely clean. Someone is always walking around to see if you need anything and I love that. You also get complimentary peanuts while you wait which is another bonus. I got a small burger here for about 5 bucks, which is about the size of a regular burger at any of the fast food joints. The burgers are pretty pricey here. I never get a regular sized burger at five guys because those are too big for me. I ordered my burger to go with grilled onions, lettuce, cheese, and ketchup. There are a wide variety of toppings that you can customize your burger with so that's a plus. Overall, the flavor of the burger was good, but when I opened my burger to eat it at home it was SOGGY. Five guys is only about 15 minutes from my house. The bun was soggy and the burger and toppings were falling apart/all over the place. It also took a long time for them to make my burger. I probably waited at least 10 or 15 minutes for it to come out. I've been to the five guys location near the Quarry and I thought the burger was made better there, but I had it in the restaurant. Overall, the burger is decent here, better than most of the big fast food chains like BK and McDs. I don't think I'll be back though. It's a bit too pricey and the burgers at Whataburger are about as good and cheaper. read more
