3 burgers and fries spent over 50 Bucks and little bits of bacon on my burger.
Rob C.

This place played music so loud it was ridiculous and when asked to turn it down they couldn't. Been here a lot and it was so loud I'll not come back. Yes it was that crazy loud. Actually uncomfortable and the inability to adjust it was eye opening. I stoped here wanting a great burger experience and didn't get that at all. Super disappointed.

Let's be honest, you don't go to Five Guys if you're on a health kick. The burger and fries are great, and ooze enough grease to lube a tractor. They do capture the feel of a backyard hamburger with fries from the State Fair, which is my book is pretty damned good. Can't give them 5 stars, though. Service is hit and miss, and when I've been there. The a la carte menu brings the total for a typical burger, fries, and drink to around $17-18, which is a bit steep. Yes, it's a quality hamburger, but they're trying to make up the volume of your meal with a heap of more filling-but-cheaper french fries. Also, for those prices you can expect a better than fast food restaurant hard seating and a cleaner place for your meal. This place scores a 3 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Went here for the first time in a long time, since I have found their prices to feed the family is way too expensive, but I just needed a couple of burgers and order of fries. Nothing extra on the burgers and it came out to $32. The burgers and fries are good, but there are other burgers out there for less. I ordered my burger dry (no condiments) and when I got home it was plain. Drove back up there and the manager was nice to make me a new burger with some extras on it. I appreciate the service and enjoyed my meal.

You can't go wrong with a burger and fries!!! After driving around with kids all morning and hangry on the horizon nothing like a hot steaming bag of fries and fresh hot burger to beat the hangry. We swung in and it did not disappoint. Service was fast and polite. We all enjoy watching them make our food and watching the process. Everything came out fast, fresh and delicious!! A little cheeseburger, a cheeseburger, a grilled cheese, hot dog and fries was a hit. And whoever set the playlist had the best classic rock mix on, we were all table dancing. A great place to stop with kids, on a date or by yourself as an escape.

The customer service was great! Inside was clean everyone was still doing their 6ft. My first time here of course. Only thing is I wish they had vegan options. They do have the all veggie sandwich though. Other than that the food was really good. I see why they won 'best burger' I wish I would could eat here often but the way my body is set up Chile it's not happening unless they do more vegan options.

Good customer service, so I'll give them that. I do wish there was something I could give between 2 and 3 stars, though. The service was also fast enough to get to and from work within a standard lunch hour. I genuinely thought their version of a "veggie" burger would have had a veggie patty, but it was just ... a salad in a bun of sorts. Grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato between two slices of bread. Not really something their vegetarian patrons would enjoy, I think. Their fries, however, are delicious. They're crispy and well seasoned, and difficult to maintain self control around. Both my friend and I left feeling a "gross" kind of full. Not too keen on coming back, but if someone else is paying I won't say no.

Place was nice, staff was friendly.. first timer here! Floor Was a little dirty but food was delicious would def go again.

This carefully designed presentation represents $20 worth of burger and fries.

This is basically a Whataburger/In-N-Out competitor at more than twice the price. There's nothing wrong with the food, the way there's nothing wrong with a Toyota Camry. But charging Mercedes prices is so absurd that it brings the rating down to 1-star. They cook the burgers on a flat top, no charbroiling here. It's nothing special, certainly not the handcrafted fine cuisine they try to hype it as. There's no wait service, no fine oak pub atmosphere, no sports bar; nothing. It's just another fast food burger. Burger, fries, and a shake for two cost $50. It probably explains why I was the only customer there at 9pm. If they charged what it was worth, they'd probably have a steady line of customers and make 5x the $. Just crazy.

It's been a few years since I've been by; so, I was truly looking forward to getting something. I chose The Brat & tots (plain). I was very happy with my choice. The gentleman greeted me immediately. I thought it would take me a minute, but, as I stated, I chose The Brat immediately. I'm a little high strung from my age, so people kinda chuckle. It's cute. I make me smile. They put the perfect amount of mustard on it too! See the photos, but it comes covered with cabbage & crispy fried onions. It is amazing. I was able to get a whole 1/3 of it eaten before my body shut down. Tot wise, they were hot & perfectly fried! I like to dip mine in ketchup, but they offer you various other dips as well. So, I got ranch cuz, um, of course. Also, I really like their soda brand. I can't remember it, but it's a dia de los muertos skull for the logo, but I love their roots beer, which was my beverage of choice today. It's really a nice little place to just come in & sit & enjoy a yummy hotdog alone, or with family/friends.

My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

But I've heard about El Chunky, a small indie hot dog restaurant that has been open on the south side for a few years. I looked at the pics here on Yelp and looked at the menu. Different types of hot dogs are offered here with lots of sauce and types of meat but I didn't want anything weird or fancy. The prices here are pretty high, about $10 per hot dog. I'm more used to paying $6 for a hot dog but there's this inflation thing to consider. I pulled into the parking lot and noticed a huge sheet of plywood in front of a window that was broken due to a robbery that occurred over a year ago. I was having a slight hard time finding the main entrance. I tried to open of the front doors but was pointed at another door by one of the employees. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly young lady at the counter and told me to take a search anywhere so I did. The ordering system was a bit confusing cuz I thought she'd come to my table but I had to go to the counter to order. I ordered the Chunky Street minus the mayo and ketchup, tomatoes, bacon and jalapeños. I was going to get the chili dog but I asked her if the chili had beans in it and she said yes so I changed my mind and got a second Chunky Street served the same way , a side of fries and a water. My food arrived minutes later. The fries were fresh and hot but they were the Ore Ida crinkle cut type and I didn't like them and didn't finish the fries and just ate the hot dogs. Both were good but the franks were huge. I should've ordered just one. I will return soon.
