COVID-19 update: I'm lucky to live near one of my lifelong friends (our moms were friends). Every few months we hang out after work, usually getting Five Guys and playing video games. Unfortunately with the pandemic we haven't been able to do this. It was his birthday a few weeks ago so I wanted to do something nice for him. Ended up picking up some burgers and boba to drop off at his house. Downloaded the Five Guys app and ordered a couple burgers and fries. The app said everything would be ready in 8 minutes, so I drove over shortly after placing the order. Once I arrived (around 2pm, so past any sort of lunchtime rush if there was one), they took a few minutes to make fresh fries for me. Was happy to get all the food (and hot fries). Ended up eating the burgers together sitting on camping chairs six feet apart on his driveway; it was the first time we'd seen each other in a few months. Amazing customer service, and great burgers and fries! I ordered take out: a Patty Melt with grilled onions (basically a grilled cheese sandwich with a burger patty) and I asked for fries well-done, and they were perfect (and plentiful). The only glitch was my fault, not theirs, and they made it right anyway. I picked up my order, set it down on an empty inside table next to the front of the store (which was all glass), checked it, took a bite from the patty melt and sampled a few french fries, wrapped everything back up, and left it in the bag on the table while i went to the counter to ask about something, and when i turned around to go back to the table, my bag was no longer there, and i saw what appeared to be a homeless woman slipping out the front door, bag in hand. I turned back to the cashier in disbelief and said "that woman just took my food!" I didn't begrudge the woman, who was probably hungry, although I wasn't happy thinking about having to pay for my meal twice, but before I could say anything else the cashier immediately ordered a duplicate meal for me and said "Don't worry, this one's on us." I was the one who had left my bag unattended for a brief couple of minutes - perhaps I'm too trusting, but I've never had anything taken even from an outside restaurant table - and Five Guys was certainly under no obligation to replace my stolen meal for free, but she did so with a smile, without being asked . Now THAT is excellent customer service! My second order tasted as good as the first, and I am extremely pleased with my Five Guys experience - every team member I have interacted with has been friendly and efficient. I don't live near any of their locations so have only eaten there a couple of times, but Five Guys OnBroadway in Redwood City is definitely my new favorite burger spot. Kudos! read more

Three stars for the excellent service and warm smiles down to the grill cook. I had a burger in the Foster city location a couple days ago and fell in love with their service fries and cheese burger. So I wanted that food high again but went to the Redwood City location today instead to no avail. How can different locations differ so much?? Downside is the total inferior taste of the cheese burger and fries. The freshness of the Foster city's burger was not there. The meat at Redwood City was slightly tougher than Foster city location which in my opinion is a five star burger. The at Redwood City location fries were short broken off stubs with a few longer soggy pieces in the bag. Not worth the gas, time or money. I pull no punches, nor sugar cost inferior food and service. I like the best of fastfood and if you fail, I tell Also this location was empty on Saturday afternoon which speaks for itself being located a prime corner location of the main street and the other side on a courtyard array of restaurants with a theatre. This Redwood city location falls short in providing the great fresh quality, great tasting burger 5 guys is known for. Go to the other locations for the qualify taste of 5 guys. My first experience with a Five Guys was in 2009 when I was back home in Ohio. It was the Five Guys in Beavercreek to be exact. After eating at the joint, I honestly thought I had found one of the best hamburgers of all times. The only problem was, it was in Ohio. How do I get the burger back to California? It's the same dilemma I've struggled with when it comes to getting White Castles in California. How? But as luck would have it. Shortly after my return to California, I learned Five Guys was opening it's first spot and, Fremont was chosen as the Monkey test site. Last year, Five Guys opened a place a few blocks from my job. And about once a week, my co-workers journey out to Five Guys to pick-up burgers for us to munch on. Now, Five Guys is not the best burger going by any means, but I do rank it up there with one of the best. In the words of Jules from Pulp Fiction: "Mmm-mmmm. That is a tasty burger." After a short hike and visit to the Water Temple, my protein hungry pal and I needed meat to recharge our batteries. Where better to loa up than at Five Guys? That's right, nowhere! I ordered the bacon cheeseburger "all the way" and we shared some fries. The burger was so satisfying that I chomped into it and didn't even care that it ended up everywhere. The whole thing was so juicy, yet not soaked through and soggy. The small order of fries turned out to be enormous, but we made short work of them. By the end, our gluttonous selves could barely move, but we were extremely happy with all that delicious meat in our bellies. In fact, I could go for another now... Service was super friendly and despite being super busy, we scored our burgers fast. They've got those awesome digital Coca-Cola machines here, and I've always wanted to give those a try! There's a few outdoor seats on a fenced off part of the sidewalk which was very friendly for your pets. It's located right next to the theater, making for the perfect pit stop before a fun flick. I love coming to Five Guys! My husband and I just wanted a snack so we ordered and large fries "Well Done" with 2 milkshakes. I ordered the Oreo milk shake with cookie pieces and he ordered the bacon milkshake. There was no wait or long livens today and no seating either due to Covid. I am never disappointed when I come here because the fries are the absolute BEST! All condiments are given to you in the bag now (ketchup and malt vinegar). Fresh cut fires fried in peanut oil makes a difference in taste and flavor! The milk shakes are a real treat as well! The shakes are not too thick to where you have to wait to get it thru the straw. I'm not is entirely sure what all the hype about this place is all about. The cheese burger was a decent size but quite flavorless compared to an in-n-out. And for the prices of everything it's surprising 5 guys is still in business! They are SO expensive for a fast food joint. $7+ for a cheese burger, $5+ for large fries and $2 something for regular drink. I mean it's really crazy. Same meal at in-n-out that has more flavor and better tasting food is about $7 for the whole meal (double double with fries and a drink). If I go to the counter which has even better tasting burgers it would only be $2 more. So I mean comparing apples to apples five guys doesn't have the great taste and doesn't have restaurant quality food but charges restaurant like prices. I've been told that I should try 5 guys at least once; well I have and I don't think I'll ever go back. I'll stick to my in-n-out or counter. Family currently dealing with food poisoning! I was one of the vendors for Dia De Los Muertos on 11/5 and hadn't eaten all day. I went to Five Guys when the rest of my family arrived and was able to watch our tent. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and shake. My daughter only ate her fries, she didn't want to eat her burger. My husband stayed at the tent, so I ordered his meal to go. Once I finished eating, I immediately felt nauseous the whole rest of the day. The next day, I threw up. My daughter and I have been frequenting the bathroom and it's coming on day 3 now (which is why I'm up at this time). My husband was the only one who wasn't experiencing anything until last night. I thought it was their burger, but my daughter didn't eat hers. So idk if something is cross contaminated, the oil hasn't been changed, I don't know. But we didn't eat anything else on Sunday.
