I've actually never been to a five guys, and picked this up for lunch. A little hamburger with no bun, and some Cajun fries. The burger was fine. Filled me up, good meat ratio, and I appreciate that they do a bowl and also a lettuce wrap with unlimited toppings. Nothing really "stood out". Fries... jeez, for a little fry, it was literally a two full containers!!! They have peanuts there too. Service was really friendly. Tried the burgers here on the recommendation of a coworker who is also on a keto diet. The bunless double bacon burger with added lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, peppers, and extra bacon was absolutely delicious! The ordering experience and staff were nice and helpful, in that I claimed to be new, and was basically helped through by a staff member also doing the keto diet. Win :-) The costs were a little high. I don't know if it's always been high, or if this is another price hike, but it's not a meal (however good it was) that I can justify frequently. The place was clean and well kept, with a large area for seating. The ambiance has a quick in and out experience in mind. By far one of the best burgers I have had in a while! The burgers are always fresh, seasoned well, juicy and full of flavor. You can customize your burger to add any toppings you want. The fries are so good and fresh. They always give you a large amount of fries which is one of the reasons why I always decided to buy from here versus other places. Five guys makes a great burger and the double bacon cheeseburger I had on this visit was no different than previous visits. Perfectly cooked, crispy bacon and great American cheese. Fries always crispy and salty like I like them. The main reason for reviewing Five Guys was due to the very nice and great service received from the employee that was mopping the floors as we were looking around for mustard. He stopped his task and went to the counter to get it for us without us even asking for it. He went out of his way, stopped what he was doing to make our visit better. Thank you Sir. read more

I've never really had a bad experience here or an amazing experience. It's always been just OK. They are consistent with the 5 Guys in the KC area for the quality of food. I still like how they over feed you French fries which are really, really good. Don't tell the neighbors but I think this is a bit better than Whalburger's next door. I find myself at a crossroad with Five Guys hamburgers. I love & prefer them with ketchup, pickles, lettuce and (dare I say it) minus the cheese. I usually would a small thing of basic fries and a small drink. It has been several months since I have gotten this due to 1 reason, the $$$$. I cannot remember the last time I was at Five Guys & do miss it. If it were not for the cost of nearly $20 each time, I would get a 2 patty hamburger, with the above add-ons (minus cheese), fries & soda. This Five Guys is located in the busy parking lot of 119th and Blackbob ( Strang Line would be the more recognized major intersection ). Even though it is a shared parking lot, parking may get tricky during peak times. I came in for a to go order for the family. The burgers are made fresh to order. They have not only the regular choices of lettuce, mayo, mustard, ketchup, cheese....but also the option to have grilled onions and/or grilled mushrooms!! Not only do they have burgers, but they also have some tasty gourmet hot dogs! They even have a BLT sandwich if you're not feeling a burger. Their fries are HUGE so don't order fries for everyone! Since everything is made to order, they have peanuts for you to snack on while you're waiting!! They will call your number out when your order is ready. The number is located on your receipt. When I came in, it was the beginning of dinner rush! People were starting to form a line. The place was clean and the employees were very patient with my order. Peanuts were fresh! This location is not great. There is a guy that works there with long, dirty blonde hair. He's incredibly friendly and does his job well. The issue is they are so focused on the food app orders that I was sitting in the lobby waiting for 30 minutes. People that showed up after me were leaving. All of the food apps were leaving. It was just me standing there. No one even checked on me. Finally a guy asked me what my number was. It had been sitting off to the side. Instead of remaking it, he shoved it at me and walked off. My cheeseburger had two juicy patties with my choices of the 15 topping options. It measured in at 3" high, and was so tall I had a tough time biting into it. The patties were just slightly over-cooked, but the toppings were fresh, and tasted great, including the grilled mushrooms. The service at the counter was friendly, my order was ready in eight minutes, and the dining area was spotless, with classic rock background music. I am not supposed to be eating red meat, but I've never been one to do what I'm told. So I ate there yesterday. Twice. As the name suggests, it's a place to go to for a burger and fries. You can get your burger with cheese, you can get it with bacon...you can get it with bacon and cheese. No turkey burgers. No chicken sandwiches. You can get a grilled cheese or hot dog. Hot dogs also come equipped with cheese, bacon or bacon and cheese. You can get tons of topping for your burger. I went with lettuce, mustard and jalapenos. They effed it up and left off the jalapenos when I went for lunch, so I went back for dinner. The jalapenos are fresh, not pickled, and took my burger to another level. The fries? Teh suck. I read a few things raving about their fries and they are freshly made, but they aren't very good. The salt content is off the charts, bordering somewhere along the lines of five guys rubbing their balls on them. The cajun fries are a bit better, but even more sodium laced. Be thankful they have free refills on drinks. Why a burger joint like this does not have crinkle cut fries is beyond me. Also keep in mind when you get fries, they will fill the bottom of your bag with them, and then give you the size that you ordered on top of that. Even if you order to eat there, you get everything in a brown paper sack. Remember this if you get it to go and order fries, unless you like giant grease stains because you're a fat slob who eats at the same burger place twice in the same day. If you do eat there, I advise you to pass on the fries and enjoy the ALL YOU CAN EAT FREE PEANUTS!!! Seriously, over each trash can (nice right?) there is a box of in-shell peanuts you can help yourself to. Strangely enough, the nuts are unsalted. I guess the five guys sacs were bone dry by then? I was a little put off by the fact that you had to reach in with your hand to get the nuts, but if you're one of those crazies who eats the shell with the nut, you deserve what you get. If you order a burger, be aware you are getting two patties. The "little burgers" aren't actually small, it's just the normal dietary amount of ground cow you should be eating. Burger comes in foil which is good for heat retention if you're going somewhere. All the seating in the restaurant is tables with pullout chairs. You tend to avoid booths when you're main staple is double cheeseburgers. The fries are cooked with peanut oil, which coupled with the free peanuts should make this place tops of ones to avoid if you have peanut allergies. The burgers are pretty tasty. Upon exiting, there are note cards and crayons where you can write Five Guys a note and put it on their cork board. Wow! This place is going downhill! They messed up our order and when I called I was transferred to the manager who did not even apologize for messing up our order. Nevermind the fact that we had to wait for an hour to pick an order that was placed online and had to go back twice. I understand they are busy, but when we have to drive back around (after already waiting for an hour) to pick up a missing item on the order, they at least owe us an apology. It's been two hours since I ate my first order of Five Guys. . . . And I am still. . . . . . . . . STILL. . . . . . . . . . struggling to come up with the words. The exact grammar that can even begin to describe the experience. And SHAME on me. SHAME ON ME that I live exactly 70 seconds from this place and that I waited so long to try it. After trying the burger & fries, somehow I feel that I have been told lies my whole life. I only decided to go here after a co-worker verbally slammed me in front of 10 Co-workers when he told me to "man up" and stop being such a coward. The "OOOohh"s that came from the rest of the co-workers were equal to the same as if people were witnessing a Tyson boxing match in his prime. I NEEDED to redeem myself. The place is no frills and is simple. 15 toppings to choose from and they are all free. All burgers are double patty so no need for the meatatarians to request it. (The caloric content as broken down on their website is SERIOUS). The fries are double-fried skin-on in 100& Peanut oil. To sum this experience up, I cannot remember the last time it took me so long to eat a burger. I actually took my time and savored each and every single bite of this burger as if I were sipping on a $1,000 glass of wine. The fries fortunately suffered the same fate. They were destroyed and decimated with absolutely no mercy. (and when I say this I am saying we ate ALL of them. It's also of interest to mention that when you order fries, they take an extra metal tub of fries and throw them into the bag to top it off. You will never EVER be served a lack of fries as people are in fast-food joints. Only Rally's/Checkers has better fries. I've been hearing about Five Guys' hype for a while and decided to stop here for lunch while down in SOJOCO doing some shopping. The first thing I noticed was all the peanuts. I didn't get it at first, but realized you could go scoop some peanuts for yourself and snack while you wait. Different. What I absolutely loved was the menu. SIMPLE! I like it! If there's one thing that annoys me, it's walking into an order-at-the-counter joint and having to read an epic style menu and decide what I want while the cashier stares at me. HATE! Anyhoodle, you get 4 choices: hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger, bacon cheeseburger. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger, some fries and a drink. Easy as pie. While I waited a few minutes for my food, I was curious about the history of Five Guys, and curious about how they obtained their food after seeing the little handwritten sign on the wall telling me that today's potatoes were from some farm in Idaho. I just watched Food Inc. and read Fast Food Nation last year. It takes some pretty big hunger and coaxing to get me to step into a fast food joint. So I looked them up on my iPhone and wasn't all that surprised that their meat isn't organic or free range. There'd be no way they could be that cheap if that were the case. BUT, I thought it was cool that they don't have freezers in any of their stores. Everything is fresh. And you can tell. The burgers taste like I just made them on my (imaginary) grill. The fries are hot and actually taste like potatoes. Nothing is prepackaged, manufactured almost-food here. I ate my entire burger, and that's saying something. They give you a lot of fries, though. I'll try to split them with whoever I go with next time. We both got an order and we could have easily split one order and still had some left over. Okay, this place is pretty metal. I'm a burger connoisseur, and as such have tried Blanc, Chefburger and Westport Flea Market, and this place might have them all beat. For one, the burgers are pretty good. Cheaper than all of those places, with a wide variety of toppings and sauces to customize with, and good fresh meat and plenty of it. The fries are great, and I'm very critical of fries. They're made with real potatoes, thicker than the Golden Arches variety and you can get them cajunized. Plus, they give them to you in a big cup and fill the bottom of your bag with them... that's value. Finally, they have a killer fountain drink selection. Sprite Zero, Cherry Coke, Barq's, and even Vault. Vault! It's the Surge for the '00s! So in conclusion, stop being a jerk and just go there. read more

5GBF is quite possibly, the greasiest burger & fry combo you will ever experience in your lifetime. I don't mean that in a bad way necessarily, but I recommend consulting a cardiologist before dining here. Having said that, this is a damn good burger (as evidenced by the multiple ZAGAT accolades hanging on the wall). This place doesn't try to do anything superficial or fancy: Simple ordering procedure, simple ingredients, simple dining room. They focus all of their efforts on one thing and one thing only: Making the best damn burger & fries you've ever eaten. They use fresh ingredients (nothing is ever frozen) and use only peanut oil for frying. All burgers are cooked well done. Aside from that, you can customize the hell out of your burger and add as many toppings as you want at no extra charge. One bite and you'll understand immediately what all the fuss is about. Word to the wise: don't be fooled by the portion sizes of the french fries. The "regular" size is more than enough to split between 2 people. I've never had the audacity to order the "large", but I would assume it is served out of a 55 gallon drum. The line is usually long at this location so be prepared to wait. I guess I don't get the hype. I found the burger to be below average. The toppings were good, fresh, and better than the burger. It was "well done and juicy" as advertised; it just didn't taste like anything. Underseasoned, or underseared perhaps? Not sure. Maybe it was cut and ground from some kind of special flavorless breed of cattle. Way too many acceptable but not outstanding fries. My best part of ordering was picking the toppings-fresh jalapeno's (fresh! not from a can!), fried onions, sauteed mushrooms, hot sauce, and then all the regular stuff too (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.). And then there's the final product, so juicy, messy and awesome-ness for the mouth! The fries were amazing! Freshly cut (reminiscent of In n' Out), thick and salty. I definitely recommend the cajun seasoning if you're normally a fan of it. The bad part, if you're allergic to peanuts beware--they deep fry in peanut oil. Over the holidays, my wife and I went down to 123rd street and picked up my good friend Tyler for lunch before he flew back to Chicago. Being out of our element (midtown), we were game for whatever Tyler suggested, so off we went to this place that reportedly had "amazing" burgers. Walking in, patrons are greeted with huge bags of the potatoes the restaurant uses to make their better-than-average french fries. As you wait on your order, stick your mitts into one of the open boxes of salty peanuts, and have a few. Nowhere to put your shells? No worries - just toss them on the floor. (Don't mistake my facetious attitude here for acceptance. I actually hate this dirty little idea. It's gross... straight up.) Ordering is a cinch. Choose a burger or, if you're a weirdo, a hot dog. There are a couple sandwiches on the menu, but - I mean - really?? I opted for the bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, grilled onion, ketchup, mustard and pickle, with a side of fries. These are thick-cut fries... not artfully done, but they do have a decent crispness to the outer friend shell and lots of pillowy russet goodness. I didn't finish the whole portion, which tells you something about where they stack up. The burgers were served, to our surprise, with two thick patties of beef. And somehow, between those fatty beef patties and the ooey gooey American cheese melting all over the place, I hardly noticed (read: tasted) any of the other toppings. No crunch from the lettuce or bacon. No contrasting texture or flavor. Just softness and grease. Eating this burger was not a bad experience, but it wasn't a good one either. Before I was even done eating, I had a clear assessment of 5 Guys: it's a step up from a Back Yard Burger - still a chain but with a better burger - but a big step down from my favorite burger in town - Blanc. Yeah, the prices are lower than at Blanc, but I don't go out for a burger often. And I can make a good burger myself. So if I am going to go spend time and money at a burger place, it needs to be special, and something I'm not going to whip up on my own grill. 5 Guys didn't give me that. My husband talked me into going here for lunch. Walking in was very un-impressive. It smells horrible, and it just appears dirty with the peanut shells laying on the floor and potato bags lined up along the entryway. (Yes, I know this is "decor", but I'm not a fan personally). There is no way I could sit inside here and eat a meal. Thank goodness it was a gorgeous day and we could eat on the patio! I ordered the hot dog. Just wasn't in the mood for the burger.
