Bacon cheeseburger "All the Way" with two patties, Cajun fries, and bulk peanuts
    Amanda B.

After hearing a bunch of Five Guys restaurants were popping up around the city, we finally stopped by this one to try it for the first time and realized that it wasn't as fast food-oriented as we assumed. The restaurant was busy, but there were enough spaces to sit, and even though there was a bit of a lineup, it bought us some time to look at the menu. I was pretty set on a burger, so I opted for the bacon cheeseburger "All the Way" - it had two beef patties, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, and mayo on a sesame seed bun. I'm almost positive it had two slices of cheese, which I loved (I have an unhealthy obsession with cheese). I also have to mention that the pickles were real pickles, and by that I mean they weren't the strange processed ones that taste like sour feet at regular fast food places like McDonald's and Burger King. The patties weren't anything special, but the burger was huge and extremely sloppy, and would be enough to fill you without the fries.. but we had to have the fries anyway. We ordered Cajun fries to share, but again, nothing special, and I found them spiced, not spicy. They were good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get them. These are cooked in peanut oil, so those with allergies should stay clear. I believe, in general, they only use peanut oil and have peanuts out for everyone, so don't bother coming in here if you're highly allergic. We also noticed that people were just grabbing paper containers and serving themselves free peanuts. Apparently this is really popular at Five Guys, but I'm really not sure why. Perhaps it was because this particular location just had a couple of unlabelled cardboard boxes stacked beside the line, and you had to open the box to find the scooper and the bulk peanuts, still in their shells. No sign, no mention of it by anyone who worked there. A bit strange, and though it was nice to have an unlimited number of peanuts to munch on, it seemed sort of out of place. Our order took over 15 minutes to make and cost about $20. Not sure that it would be worth it any other time than our first time, but at least it wasn't the heavily processed type of meal you would have at another burger joint.

So. many. fries! I can never finish them so I bake them the next day.

They overdose their fries with salt that you can hardly eat them.

Love their peanuts. Fries are good too. However find it expensive and have had better burgers in barrhaven.

There's too many complainers on Yelp, especially some members in Barrhaven. Maybe get a life? Get a career, not a job.

I had been wanting to try Kingburger for years, but every time we were in the area, we were always just passing by and had to get to where we were going on a specific schedule. This past weekend we had some time and stopped on the way home. My husband and I each got a King Cheeseburger and split a large poutine. The King Burger has two beef patties, triple bun, Kingburger sauce, and fried onions. The cheeseburger just adds cheese. The patties were real, homemade beef patties. They weren't too thick or dense and were juicy. The cheese was real cheese slices and not Kraft singles. The fried onions were good, not too many and not overwhelming. The Kingburger sauce seemed mostly like a mix of ketchup and mustard and there was far too much for me - I would've liked to taste the beef more because it was really great! I was also hoping to give more burger to our little kiddo without the sauce or just minimal. The buns were nothing special, but were fresh, soft, and helped soak up the sauce. In fairness, I like light sauce, whereas my husband likes everything super saucy and he really enjoyed it. All in all, it's definitely a good burger and I might try the Super Burger next time, which also comes with back bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and subs fried onions for raw. The poutine, unfortunately, did not the have cheese curds I was craving, but the gravy was very tasty and the fries were so perfectly crispy. As a big cheese lover, dare I say that I might just order fries and gravy next time. The portion was pretty big, too. Super affordable, weekday specials, and fast and friendly service. Love a small, local, family-owned restaurant that's been around for ages. There's a patio to the side and parking, but no indoor seating and truly a drive-thru with a drive-in theatre restaurant vibe. I'll need to try one of their many milkshakes next time. They also have a "cruise night" with classic cars, which would be awesome to check out.

Considering it was a Sunday, I found that to be quite impressive and a testament to the restaurant. The food was piping hot. So hot I couldn't even bite into it for fear of burning my mouth! I took the time to enjoy the fries which were quite enjoyable - crunchy and tasty. Also, in comparison to other restaurants... the chicken pieces were HUGE! You're very much getting your money's worth in that regards. When it had finally cooled down enough to eat... it was good. It didn't live up to the hype I was given before going in, but it was definitely enjoyable. The fried covering was crunchy and very tasty without it being overly oily. The coleslaw was different than what I've tasted before but after an intriguing first few bites found myself happily digging in. The biscuits were perfect: harder shell with a wonderful hot and soft interior :) I look forward to another visit to compare against this first visit.

They claim the chickens are no longer Halal method because the major arteries are no longer cut and the blood drained, which is required for being certified Halal. They claim most of their customers are Islams and they are losing them causing financial harm. The last time I was there the claim seemed to be true as I noticed the blood vessels in the dark meet were indeed full of blood and the taste had changed, not in a good way. I'm not saying it's not safe to eat as it is well cooked but I did notice the centre of the leg was all red and the taste was different from the outside. My solution: I bought an air fryer and some hot sauce. It's a shame as I loved their chicken before they changed. Mr. Wontbe Back
