    Super Burger, fries, rings
    Charles B.

Small place with big taste. Homemade burgers, made with fresh local beef on super fresh buns. Fries, cut on site, and cooked to order. Homemade gravy with fresh cheese curds for poutine. you can also order onion rings or spicy fries and about a gazillion flavours of milkshakes. Scoops of ice cream is available for dessert. they also serve shawarmas too. It is located on the same grounds as a driving range and mini-putt next to a soccer field. I have to tell you, this the best burger I've ever eaten. Well worth the drive. About 10 min south of the airport on Limebank rd you can find a nice review here: http://bashford.wordpress.com/2009/02/08/the-best-burger-joint-in-ottawa-burger-shakes/

This is my favourite burgers and shake place near me. Their shakes are thick and the sizes are great for the price. The burgers are HUGE and the veggie option is just as good as the beef patty. I come here very often with my family and though it can get a little crowded, (and thus a little slow) there are lots of outside seating options.

The fries were very well cooked, the gravy was good and they used curds in the poutine.

Poutine had lots of gravy and cheese curds, every bite had the perfect ratio. Even with so much sauce and cheese, fries are crispy even after 30 minutes of eating. The gravy is so well flavored, I liked the bowl clean of the gravy with my sausage. The polish sausage was amazing- Smokey juicy and grilled so yummy. The bread was soft and melted so well with the sausage. I put some gravy on top of the sausage and wow. A MUST! CASH ONLY BTW! The lady so sweet and explained the different flavorings of the sausages :) SO WORTH IT! The best places are the local mom and pop shops! :)

We walked over to this little stand, which I actually had no idea existed, to get something quick to-go. There was no line late on a Friday night. We got a few different sausages and poutines and brought them back over to eat on the Laff's patio. It had been a long while since I had a grilled Polish sausage, so that's what I got with a little ketchup, mustard, and some chopped raw white onions. The sausage was perfect, tasty, hot, and not overcooked, just what I was craving and very satisfying. There was only one person behind the counter, a young guy who was very sweet, super fast, and we were really impressed he remembered everything we ordered. They have a small menu of your standard chip wagon fare - fries and poutine, hot dogs and sausages, pogos, and drinks, plus ice cream. Great spot that's open late (until 3am I think) for before/during/after a night out at the bars.

I went here with my brother to get some fries, pogos (aka corn dogs, I hadn't realized that "pogo"…read moreis an exclusively Canadian term until my American friend, Karen K, pointed it out to me, lol) and hot dogs for my little nieces. I have never had a pogo in my life and have no inclinations to change that. I also don't like hot dogs, so all I tried were the fries and they were great. The fries were a bit sweet (from the type of potatoes they use) and they tasted fresh and not from frozen. I liked the texture, they were not mealy. I like that they are unsalted. I think a large was like $6 or something like that. Pogos and hotdogs are $0.99 each. My older niece who is a picky eater and had never had a pogo before, took one bite and proclaimed "I LOVE POGOS!" Lol. She ate one and a half pogos, which is a lot for her. The breading looked crispy. The hotdogs were tiny and they were steamed. The nieces rejected them so my brother and dad ended up eating them. The place is really popular; we had to stand in line for a long time. Decor is old school diner-like. It reminds me of those casse-croutes that are ubiquitous in Montreal like La Belle Province, Lafleur Restaurants, and Green Stop. Most food here is greasy and fried. If you're trying to eat healthy this is not the place to go. It's not my kind of place, but for what it is, I think it's good. It's in a plaza, so lots of free parking.

The smoked meat sandwiches are flavourful and large, so you won't be unsatisfied. And I often upgrade to a poutine from the regular fries. The fries are hand-cut and have a great taste and texture. The gravy is thick and flavourful, and the cheese curds are squeaky, just like they should be. I have never managed to finish the combo before because it is just too much food. The dining room is also a lot larger than it appears from the outside. There is plenty of seating, the restaurant is clean, and the staff are helpful. Definitely recommend this restaurant, and can't wait for my next visit!

TL;DR/The Short Version: Diner food in strip mall on…read moreWalkley. Good prices, good food. Friendly service. The Long Version: I learned about this diner on Reddit and shortly after, I happened to be working off-site at a location near this diner, so it was the perfect opportunity to check it out on the way home. They were still in their soft opening when I went in early May 2025. I got a Smash Burger with fries ($12.83) for my husband and a Hot Chicken Sandwich with fries ($12.99) for myself to go. The menu said the meals also came with coleslaw but the owner advised me they ran out of coleslaw. Unfortunately, I didn't get any substitution for the missing coleslaw :( I appreciated that my fries were packaged separately so they wouldn't get all soggy with the hot chicken sandwich. The fries were tasty and had a bit of seasoning on them. They were crispy even after the drive home. My hot chicken sandwich was filled with real roasted chicken pieces, but the chicken did not taste fresh to me :( The sandwich bread was soft though and the gravy was nice and thick how I like it. My husband really enjoyed his smash burger. Since I can't eat sesame seeds, I removed the top bun and had a small bite to taste. It was really good. The house sauce had a nice spicy kick to it. The burger also had cheese, bacon, grilled onions, pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. The 2 beef patties were nicely smashed and had good flavour. I should have also gotten a burger and just removed the top bun, lol. I was greeted by Sana, the owner who was very friendly and welcoming and asked me how I learned of the place. The decor is diner-like and very casual. It's in a strip mall in a working class neighbourhood. Free parking in the strip mall parking lot. Would have been a solid 4 star experience for me, but the chicken in the sandwich knocked it down a star. Review #104 (2025)

Thought I would give Walkley Diner a try since I live close to their location. In one word…read more.. disappointing. Food: Greasy. All of their fried items taste the same. A change of oil would help tremendously, not only with the food, but the smell of the diner. I walked in to order a "walk-in" medium pizza. I essentially had to walk through a cloud of thick grease smoke. The place seemed abandoned. No one in sight. When one of the employees did surface, he seemed annoyed that I was waving the smoke away from my face. My interaction with this person while placing my order was somewhat abrupt and disrespectful. I asked for a menu so that I could select the type of pizza I wanted, and was told that they don't have a menu, just a flyer (with very limited information), I would have to select my own toppings. So I started listing off a bunch of ingredients, all of which were unavailable I asked if he had any suggestions. He said chicken. That was it. At which point, he refused to assist me any further. So I created a pizza from what they did have... chicken, onions, olives and (double) cheese. When I returned home I opened the box... what a sorry sight. It was a medium pizza, no doubt, but where was the double cheese? There was only enough cheese on the pie that could potentially cover a small, at best. I was able to uncover 6 small chunks of dried chicken, stringy sliced onions and less than a small handful of sliced olives. The tomato sauce was sparce and forgettable and the bed of the pizza was soggy, soggy to the point that the dough was starting to blend with the tomato sauce... ugh. Service: As described briefly in food. Going into more detail... slooooow, disorganized and, more than occasionally... rude. Ambiance: Filthy. They don't wash their floors when there is heavy foot traffic from customers entering after a weather event. Tables are not cleaned. I try not think of the sanitary condition in the kitchen which is roughly about the same size as a galley kitchen in a small apartment. Nothing in this diner feels warm nor welcoming... it's just there. This review is based on 2 visits to the diner. One, for smash burgers and fries, the other for pizza. I thought I would give the diner a second try, perhaps it would sway my opinion... unfortunately that didn't happen. I apologize in advance to those who may be offended my rather harsh criticism... This is just a review. If there is one positive comment to be made... their food is affordable, much cheaper than mainstream burger and pizza joints. But then again, you get what you pay for.

I will say that in 30 years of having poutine, this is by far some of the BEST poutine I've ever had. Despite the gravy, the fries are CRISP and it almost looks like there's a 1 to 1 ratio of fries to cheese curds (and more than enough gravy to drown it all). We ordered a single large to share between the two of us (we had a long road trip still and didn't want to totally destroy our systems while sitting in a car for 4 hours) and it was more than enough food. Despite not a lot of customers, the place is busy and there was a small wait while our food was prepared but it was 100% worth it! Staff is friendly and took my English and mixed French stumbling in stride. Absolutely get here if you love poutine, even if you have to travel thousands of miles.

After hearing some recent reviews on a Manotick Facebook group, we decided to give them another shot almost a year later. We used the online ordering system and our order was ready on time for pick up. I ordered the Lamb Souvlaki Platter ($26.95) and added in the comment section that I wanted the meat to be done medium-rare. It came with two skewers. My wife ordered the Keftedes Platter ($22.95), which she heard from others was really good. Each platter came with Greek rice, medallion potatoes, Greek salad and tzatziki sauce. The rice was a little more plain than we would have hoped, but it improved once we squeezed the provided lemon over top of it ourselves. The medallion potatoes had yummy dry seasoning sprinkled on top. Next time we will ask for more of that dry seasoning in the comments in the online ordering system because it was delicious, but not spread very evenly. The Greek salad was fresh and tasty with a good amount of feta and the dressing was packed on the side. The tzatziki sauce was thick and creamy. We also ordered a Pita Bread ($2) to go with everything. Now let's talk about the meat! Wow! We were impressed with both the Lamb Souvlaki and the Keftedes (4 mini meat patties). All the flavours and spices used were perfect, plus the cook on the meat was very memorable. We kept raving about the meat throughout the meal, savouring every bite. We would easily go back again just for how good the meat was! We're also curious now about how they would handle seafood like their Calamari Platter. The food is slightly more expensive than Cozmo's on Greenbank, but the quantity is fair and the quality is excellent for the meat.
