The Long Version: District Deli opened up around March 2025 in the space that was Bismallah Pies (was Charlie's Groceteria before that). My husband and I dropped by to pick up a sandwich to share. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher. District Deli only has cold sandwiches. No hot sandwiches, at least not at the time of the writing of this review. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #118 (2025)

I decided to stay and eat on this visit. The few seats offered inside are comfortable, plus there are picnic tables outside if you want to enjoy the weather. The Long Version: I love food places tucked away in industrial parks. So when I had a medical appointment in an industrial part of town, I looked up all the eateries nearby and Shorty's popped up. I picked up 2 sandwiches. They were $8.41 each and were huge. I ate half of each and saved the rest for later. The first sandwich was a grilled chicken sandwich and the second sandwich was a build your own 3 meats sandwich. I chose ham, turkey and roast beef. I got havarti as the cheese. For the grilled chicken sandwich, I got double smoked cheddar as the cheese. I got both sandwiches on the cheese and jalapeno bread and got the same toppings on both: lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, spicy eggplant, crispy onions and crispy jalapenos. I didn't get any sauce/dressing on the sandwiches because I don't like wet sandwiches. Both sandwiches were delicious. I loved all the different toppings and the crispy onions and jalapenos gave it that extra crunch. I'm all about textures so I really enjoyed the contrasts. Service was efficient. There are seats to dine in if you wish to, but it's more a takeout joint. Free parking available in the industrial strip mall. There are even picnic tables in the parking lot. Review #106 (2025)

Really cool space, definitely would be great for an afternoon tea. They have an outdoor patio, not that it was being used despite the beautiful day. Pastries and food selection is great. The staff is friendly... but slow and easily distracted. The cashier was taking a phone order while several of us were waiting, pretty unacceptable when another staff member should be able to take a call. We ordered a coffee and a mimosa. Well, they had to go back and check to see if they had juice... they did not. I asked for just the bubbly instead, she had to go back and check again. How do they not know or keep things on their menu in stock? Oh well, they had the bubbly so it was okay. For food we ordered a pastry and a croissant sandwich. The biscotti and pastry were delicious. For some reason, they decided to panini press the croissant sandwich. What the heck, who would do that? Why didn't they ask? Tasty sandwich, but completely ruined due to crushing the croissant. We were expecting it to come straight out of the case and at most maybe microwaved to warm it, not just destroyed in a panini press. Cool vibes, nice atmosphere, food is good, tea menu looks amazing. But, the staff don't seem to have a clue to what they are doing.

Look what I found here! A brand new wing place. So, when I called and asked about what makes their…read morewings so special, here's what I was told.... The wings are fresh and never frozen, halal and made to order with a crap load of house made sauces. The onion rings are made in house from scratch. The order: 20 wings with onion rings - instead of the 3 sauce offer, I asked for 4 sauces and while they said it was and extra $2, they didn't end up charging me extra. That was not necessary but nice. The good: I ordered for pick up and when I went t to get the order, they had it ready for me. The place was really clean and the staff is pleasant and very helpful. I got the spicy mayo, Parmesan, hot honey and honey garlic. They were all really good and I certainly don't have any complaints - from a personal perspective, I just wouldn't get the spicy mayo. That's kinda silly. The bad: I would have really preferred if they had a Parmesan garlic instead of just parm - kinda boring ya know. Still decent though when dipped into franks red hot! Also, I would really have preferred if they actually had a Buffalo sauce - they don't and a quick taste of their hot, don't really scream Buffalo. Look, do your fancy wings but you gotta respect the Buffalo - it's just what is expected! Make a fancy buffalo sauce like Primal Kitchens but you still gotta have a Buffalo! Overall, quite happy with the quality of the wings - they were not overly fatty and the meat was perfectly cooked without any burnt or dry spots. The skin had a good snap to it (I went with classic cos breaded ain't my thing...) Will go back again to see what the fries are all about. Total bill $33.99 plus tax = &38.41
