Rating is a Big Zero. We came in around 8:30 pm. I forgot to order an item and was told that the kitchen was closed and that the restaurant closes at 9 pm. I said that we wouldn't have come in to eat if we knew that they were closing at 9 pm. I mentioned this to our server and said that we are holding her up from her Friday night activities. She said yea ,it's Friday night and looked irked We were still eating 15 minutes after closing. The cook came out and said that this was his 14th hour working and were told to get take out boxes and leave immediately.The meal cost over $120. It was with Family. I've never ever been told to leave a restaurant eating after closing. Called the next day , and spoke with the Manager. He stuck up for his Staff and started yelling through the phone. He said something wrong that he accused us of. He said his server was 18 and shouldn't have been told how unhappy we were. So, unprofessional! Do not go there. The service was good. Basically they serve ribs. The ribs were tasty. The only problem is that the noise level is very high. It is hard to have a conversation with your dining partner. The waitress turned down the music but the fan noise from the vent hood in the kitchen is extremely loud. They would be wise to spend some money to fix that. read more

Finally got to try dine-in and confirmed, I had to roll myself home lol. Should've read my previous review to warn myself. Luckily, I was smart enough to wear stretchy pants. We went for a weekday lunch and they have beef ribs on special every Wednesday. I originally ordered a 6-rib dinner but our server advised that because beef ribs are a lot larger than pork, that a half rack of beef ribs is actually a 3-4 ribs, so I took his advice and got that. Glad I did! They were definitely huge. I asked for no beans, but got the coleslaw, cornbread, and fries, that came with it. While the sides were good, I focused on eating the ribs in-house because they were piping hot and the fries and cornbread could be easily heated later, if needed, without overcooking. The beef ribs take a bit longer, so keep it in mind if you're in a rush. The barbecue sauce had a nice kick to it, not necessarily spicy, but a kick, and also sweet and a bit tangy. The meat wasn't fall-off-the-bone and had some chew, which I didn't mind. Huge portion for sure! There was also a generous portion of fries. I call them Costco fries because most people understand what I'm talking about when I say that's the kind of breading/fry. I loved that cornbread came with the meal and wasn't an additional cost. I just wish it came with a pat of butter or something. If you're looking for a toddler-friendly meal, you can get the Buffalo fingers starter just plain, without it tossed in sauce. There are a ton of different awards, articles, posters, and signs that line the walls, including one that says they're now pouring Broadhead Amber Ale. Service was great, very attentive, fast, and friendly. We came just before the lunch rush, around 11:30-11:45am and there were plenty of tables and it was easy to order and receive our meals in a timely fashion. Big Bone BBQ & Wicked Wings - Kanata is absolutely incredible!! Its been in the plaza at Eagleson/stonehaven for so long, and I was always curious about it. Take my word for it, the smoked ribs and wings are some of the best Ivve had(and I dont like ribs) Other local restaurants have nothing on them for good bbq. These guys deserve a big shout out. My husband and I had dinner here with a couple of friends and we all agreed that it was pretty good. My husband and I shared the Party Pack 2, which consisted of a full rack of ribs, a pound of wings, 3 pieces of corn bread, 2 small Solo cups of coleslaw, 2 small Solo cups of baked beans, a heaping mound of fries and some BBQ sauce. All for $42. One of our friends got the Mini Combo ($17.95) which was 3 ribs, half pound of wings, fries, beans, coleslaw and cornbread, and the other got the Big Bone Combo ($25.95) which was a half rack of ribs, a pound of wings, fries, beans, coleslaw and cornbread. We all had leftovers! The the ribs were really good. You could definitely taste the smokey flavour. They were really tender too. For wings you can get smoked or fried and we all got smoked. We got Kansas BBQ as the sauce for our wings. The wings had a really distinct smokey flavour and the sauce (served on the side) was bold in flavour but mild in spiciness. We should have gone for a hotter sauce. Fries were battered and seasoned. They were crispy and surprisingly good for frozen fries. The cornbread I found too dry and was not a fan. I felt the beans were also meh, and the coleslaw was too creamy for my liking. So basically I just liked the ribs, wings and fries, but those were really good. The decor looks like what you'd expect a casual BBQ joint to look like. Service was friendly and timely. You pay at the cash register when you're done. There were lots of takeout orders while we were there. The restaurant is in an unassuming strip mall in Kanata. Same strip mall as Thai to Go and Scotiabank. Free parking. read more

Fast and friendly service. Huge selection of menu items. I had the smoked dry Cajun wings and ribs combo. Fries were good. The Cajun spices weren't on the wings but came on the side for some reason. Wings had bbq sauce on them too. Nice and moist and good flavour. Ribs were pretty good too but could have used a bit more sauce or some heat. First time visiting this place, it was during the "no contact period" so we took our take away and ate in the car We ordered pulled pork, wings, (smoked and fried) brisket as they were OUT of ribs beans and cornbread. Pulled pork was pretty good (a little watery) Wings were decent, not as tender as I expected but flavorful. The beans were exactly like every other bbq place- tasty but nothing unique. The cornbread was super dry with little flavour. Meh. The brisket... (we bought 2 pounds) it was a huge disappointment! They CUBED it (why???) it was tough and had hard pcs of gristle in it. We went back in and asked for bbq sauce just to add some flavour. We said it was tough but the guy just shrugged it off and gave us a small bit of cold bbq sauce. The best BBQ in Kanata that I've been able to find! Fantastic ribs, amazing wings, delicious pulled pork. Curious about their brisket. Most meals come with a small portion of beans, corn bread and coleslaw. Personally I like The Elvis with an extra corn bread is my go-to meal for 2.. it gives you a nice sample of ribs, wings and pulled pork along with a generous helping of fries (which are godlike) for about $30 taxes in. My only complaint is that they don't deliver across Kanata to Morgan's Grant :( Its about a 15 min drive to and from the place. Still.. worth it once in a while. read more

Once a year Ottawa is home to a fantastic rib fest, but what to do the rest of the year? Well I've now found the answer. Big Bone BBQ! We visited about an hour before close on a Saturday night. I was lucky enough to get the final rack of ribs for the day. Big Bone BBQ smokes there ribs for 2 days, so there is only a limited amount available every day. They were delicious! I got the mini combo which came with ribs, smoked chicken wings, corn bread, slaw, beans and I upgraded the fries to a poutine. The food was delicious and the servings were generous. Heard about this place just recently and thought it was worth a try. We had the Party Platter #2...Full rack of ribs, 1 lb of wings, fries, beans, coleslaw and cornbread...all very good. Added the 1 lb order of brisket because there wasn't enough food already. The Ribs, Wings, Brisket and Cornbread were all excellent. My husband and I decided to try this place tonight in anticipation of our upcoming move to the neighbourhood. All I can say is this: we are in serious trouble. We decided to try a half rack of ribs, the potato skins (pig skins) and wings. While we were waiting (we were getting the food as takeout) we decided to try the cornbread too. Manny and Andrea were amazing! We received several outstanding compliments about the food, the service and the setup. Manny was great to work with -- very accommodating, very responsive to my emails, open to requests, provided great recommendations /advice; overall, just really good at what he does. Hit this place up last week with a buddy for lunch. I had the pulled pork sandwich with pouting as the side , which also came with coleslaw and baked beans. It was a huge plate: tons of pulled pork on a nice fresh bun and yummy gravy covering the fries and cheese curds. My buddy had the beef brisket pouting, which he loved. Do NOT order the brisket unless if you enjoy chewing on leather. Not only was the meat extremely tough but it lacked any flavour and was cut in big cubes. I actually could not eat it and after a few pieces I stopped. I also upgraded my side of fries to a classic poutine. Fries are the coated Costco style which I personally don't mind. Gravy was passable. Cheese "curds" (yes they actually say curds on the menu) are not curds. I've been to places where they try to pass mozzarella as curds but here it seemed like it was a block of white cheddar was cut into cubes and given the label "curds". We also ordered pork ribs and chicken wings. Ribs were the only decent thing that night. We ordered the wings smoked/slow cooked style vs deep-fried as the cashier/server said it's fall off the bones tender that they can't actually toss them but brush on the sauce. I guess the hulk is doing the tossing because nothing was falling off the bone. Taste was below average for wings. While paying at the cash, the cashier/server asked me how the brisket was and I said terrible. Her response was she didn't cook it and they're known for their ribs not the brisket. So why is the brisket on the menu and why are you serving and charging me for it?! She needs to understand her role better, the fact that she represents the restaurant to their customers, and that feedback given to her should be relayed to the back where cooking is happening rather than respond with I didn't cook it. Nothing was done about billing me for the leather brisket and I did not pursue it any further than what I already said to her. read more

The buns were not as fresh as I would have liked and I would have preferred the cornbread to be warm. The brisket was tasty but I would have liked little more seasoning.
