This was disappointing. Place was filthy. The only 2 trash receptacles were at capacity (and then some), the tables not cleaned (of course people being the slobs they are, assume someone else will clean up for them), and floor needed some attention. Also, the one! napkin dispenser was empty and both gallon dispensers of ketchup were empty. What was more annoying was the good times the employees seemed to be having behind the counter yuking it up while ignoring the basics of operating a restaurant. So, that's what you get for $20: 2 hamburgers and 1 med. fries. Really much more than it should be and much less than I would expect. This place needs better management. read more

I love their fries. I usually order with no salt so I can enjoy the ketchup without sodium overload. Also, if they are going into my car, I double bag. The other nite I showed up at 9:59 and they were happy to take my order, even though they were ready to close. That was really nice!! Veggie Sandwich all the way was incredible! I've been hearing about Five Guys from friends around the country for years now. So when my coworkers and I saw the sign going up down the street from work, we got stoked. And when it finally opened? We were beating down the door to try it out. The burgers are good. Best "fast food" burgers I think I've had. They manage to make the burgers well done while still being juicy, true to the signage. The fries, good lord, the fries! First, you get a TON with your order. A regular is enough for two people in my experience. And you gotta go with the Cajun style. Seriously. The service so far has been fast and friendly. The place is popular and new, so the line gets crazy around meal times. But they manage to keep it moving well. The restaurant seems to be kept pretty clean by the staff, so that's cool. All in all, I really dig this place, and am excited to have it so close to work. My cholesterol and bank account aren't, but you can't win 'em all, right? read more

Wow! What an interesting place. I was kind of sold on the place even before I tasted my burger (which was outstanding) just because it is operated so differently than most fast-food joints. From an operations management standpoint, it was fascinating. I want to go in there and do a case analysis for the Harvard Business Review. First off--it looks very very clean. They had ten people on shift for the lunch rush. Nobody was standing around. Everyone was busy and effeciently going about their tasks. There was no line, but it was pretty busy all the same. When the second cashier was not busy, she quickly went to wash the front windows and clear tables and straighten up the dining area. All the employees were native English speakers and not the sort of low-pay-scale people you might see at most fast-food places, so am guessing that this company actually manages to pay a living wage to its employees. This matters to me. Furthermore the employees all looked liked they were enjoying their work. Shouting occassional encouragements and almost cheering each other on as they worked. Second, this place does not aspire to be something it is not. It's a burger place. If you don't eat meat, this is not the place for you and it is not going to pretend to cater to you. It has a simple, very easy to grasp menu--not too many different things--but lots of topping options. For my fist time there, in the 30 seconds I waited for my order to be taken, the menu made it clear how to order what I wanted in the easiest manner possible. I got small burger "all the way" which is with all the normal toppings I might want - lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, mushrooms, mustard, ketchup...etc... plus jalapenos...which were also available from a list below that. I took my burger to go... for a small it was pretty huge. It was loaded with toppings, but it was wrapped in foil and therefor easy to eat without losing any of the contents. I also had an order of Cajun fries which were actually spicey. I love spicey foods, so most things that pretend to be spicey I find bland. These were really quite well seasoned. The big order is more than enough for two people to share...I think we shoul have had a regular order to share. Third, the price was reasonable. I am guessing the average check per person is abou $10 for a burger, drink and an order of fries. More money than McDonald's or Burger King...but a much better quality of food, too. (And employees that are Native English speakers--bonus). I think this place compares favorably to a place like Kelly's Roast Beef as far as price and food quality goes... what I liked more about Five Guys was that their employees seemed so upbeat and that the place operated like a well oiled machine. I am no way a food snob, but to preface this, I do make my own gourmet burgers (and often times, a Bubba Burger) on my Weber Grill, so anything less is likely not going to impress me. I went to Five Guys for the first time after hearing about it and driving by it all the time. The experience was mixed. The help behind the counter was great, friendly and informative once she found out i have never been to the restaurant before. The good stops here. 2 of the 3 stars are for the friendly counter person. The burger was very average, I equate it to an overpriced Wendy's burger. Fries was okay, but not great. Just crushed a cheeseburger and fries from this place...cash money homie! This is the Cadillac of "fast food" type burgers. For those who reviewed this place looking for a medium rare patty with homemade mayo, you went to the wrong joint. Stick to the Met Bar or hit up Burton's by Fenway. The only reason I give it four stars instead o five is the fries. I appreciate their freshness, however, I prefer shoestrings like you get at McDonald's. Having said that, these fresh cut spuds were cooked perfectly and were nice and crispy. The service at this Natick location was great. One last point that I must make is on the new soda machines. I've seen these in a few other places but they really make the difference. The wife and I went all out and tried a Peach Sprite and followed that up with a Grape Sprite. Best "fast food" burger ever... if you can even call it that. The regular burgers are double patties, so if you aren't super hungry go with the little version. Mistakes I've made twice now and can never finish my burger :( . The burgers are juicy and delicious. They have like 15 free toppings that range from lettuce, onion, pickles, to fresh jalapenos, A1, grilled peppers, mushrooms, onions, and BBQ sauce. Seriously the burgers are SOOOOO good. The bacon is crispy. The buns are soft. The cheese is melted. Its what a good burger should be. I always get grilled onions. They are so good. The fries come in regular or cajun. We tried the cajun last night and they are just heavily seasoned with cajun powder-- not that awesome. I don't like their fries anyway. They are wayyy too mushy for me, not crispy at all. Not sure if next time I'll see if they can cook them more. But overall worth the 45 minute drive in traffic last night for this burger. read more

We drove 20 minutes to eat at this place and I was soooo excited to have a juicy burger. The burger was pretty good the meat wasn't too dry and it was given in hearty portions. The ordering was very simple and there was plenty of toppings options to choose from. My only sadness with this place were the fries which were bland and the lack of a milk shake. I really wanted a milkshake which I expect from a good burger diner. We will eat here again. read more

Went here for the first time today after hearing a lot about it. Considering this was the first burger I've had in months, I thought it was absolutely delicious, but my opinion could be biased. The "cheeseburger" is actually a double cheeseburger. I had no idea until I got it. Luckily, I was really hungry. I'm to assume the "Little Cheeseburger" is only one patty. Also, there really aren't any options besides beef burgers, hot dogs and fries. There is a grilled cheese and a "veggie sandwich" on the menu, but I can only assume most people don't order those. If there had been a turkey option, I prob would have opted for that, but I was forced to eat beef and it was absolutely delicious. It's a huge plus that there's no extra charge for any toppings and the service was very speedy. This place is absolutely no frills which makes the price of the food very understandable. read more

My very first job was at a place in New York called the Chicken Kitchen. The place was always filthy. One day, I watched as one of the cooks dropped a piece of chicken in the garbage. The manager told him to pick it out - and put it on the grill - "Don't worry, it will kill the germs" he said. Disgusted, and an obnoxious teenager, I asked if he would like me to clean the rest room with his lunch. I could put it on the grill after to - you guessed it - kill the germs. And just like in a movie, I quit and was fired at the same time. What does the chicken kitchen have to do with this Five Guys? Most five guys are busy - constantly - but despite that - they are generally immaculate. I went in to the Natick store one day for a late lunch - not crowded - more like a manageable busy. After I ordered, and was waiting, I looked around and noticed something. The place was filthy - not the peanut shell filthy, but the kind of gross garbage everywhere - on unoccupied tables, all over the floors - well it reminded me of the Chicken Kitchen. My appetite now lost, I actually shot a video of the restaurant, and called 866-345-GUYS to let them know what happened - even offered to send them the video clip (if Yelp allowed videos I'd share it) They apologized, said they'd have someone look into it and that they would call me back. Never heard back. So my advice to you - if you go to this particular five guys - have a look around before you order. read more

Today was the first time I had a burger from her but it most certainly will not be the last. This was the best fast food burger I have ever had. Had a "small" bacon cheeseburger, with lettuce, onions and ketchup, and it was plenty big enough. One thing that caught my eye. We had called in a huge take out order. Customizable burgers and crispy thick fries! Five Guys is known for their fries made from Idaho potatoes - regular and cajun style. I LOVE the cajun fries here....I could just that for my entire meal. Everyone raves about their burgers and I like them but I don't think I am blown away. I like that I can add grilled mushrooms, raw jalapenos and other topping for no extra charge. I think the Small Cheeseburger is big enough for one if you also want to try their fries. Their burgers aren't cheap but it makes sense since they let you add unlimited toppings. They give you a lot of fries and there is only one size so I recommend sharing. I will have to say that I love Five Guys Burgers for their Cajun Fries. I agree with others that reviewed this place that their burgers aren't to die for. Ronald McDonald, eat your heart out! There is a new king of burgers in this town! Thank you Five Guys for finally coming close to home! The last time I had Five Guys was down in Dedham. Now, living in Acton, Dedham is a ways away, but Natick, isn't too bad to drive for this greasy greatness. In a land of Burger Kings, McDonalds, Wendys and Arbys, Five Guys stands out like a beacon in the night for burger aficionados like me! Never will you find a burger microwaved (a la McDonalds) or put through a weird contraption (Burger King) that purports to "flame broil" the burgers. Here you have a huge griddle, plenty of grease and awesome double stacked burgers ready to go. Lastly, a review wouldn't be complete without telling everyone here about the oh so yumtastic fries. My first Five Guys experience was a good one. My kids were in heaven at this place. I thought the burger was as flavorful as any fast food place in history. Very good fries here as well. Endless free peanuts which were pretty good also. Very loud and bright and very kid friendly. Prices seem high until you see how much food you get and realize it's a great value. Not much of the menu has any healthy aspects, but if you fly off the handle once in awhile as I do...this is a great place to do it. read more

Generally, I'm not impressed with Five Guys' burgers. I think they're fairly bland and pretty overrated, not to mention slightly overpriced. What they do nail though is the fries. Easily best fries around! The reason I'm unhappy with them this time around is two-fold. 1. Asked for BBQ souse on the burger AND on the side. Get the side of souse and it's the tiniest amount imaginable -- maybe an 8th of a container. Basically, what is usually left at the end of a meal. Now, I'm not asking them to use critical thinking or anything but if someone wants bbq souse on and on the side, it probably means they really like the souse, no? Either way, you can't be giving people that little souse, that's just stupid and waste of time for me to go ask for more. The second reason is I ordered a bacon burger which came with, wait for it, no bacon... I had two bites left and was like, didn't I order a bacon burger?? Checked the receipt, says {bacon}, ask my friends (who also got the bacon burgers) and one said, I think I have it, the other said he saw a couple of bits. I'm like, is this a joke?? No bacon or bacon bits?? I don't even know which one is worse. They're pretty good with putting all the toppings on that I rifled through when ordering. Was I supposed to ask for bacon on my bacon burger?? Most likely, it's the bacon bits scenario which really pisses me off. When people order bacon on sandwiches or burgers, they want at least 2 (if not 3) STRIPS of bacon that you can taste and crunch, not a hint of bacon! read more

The burgers here are excellent, but I've had better--for example, the Friendlies Vermont Burger. I don't eat french fries so no opinion of those. There is a major problem with this restaurant: the only drinks offered are bottled water (yay!), and soda fountain drinks that have the usual unpleasant tastes and lots of dangerous high fructose corn syrup. NO MILK. NO BOTTLED FRUIT JUICE. I have not gone back, and I warn people about the anti-customer drink problem. read more

Heart attack on a plate. Our first trip in there was incredibly confusing, so my husband asks for a simple burger and ends up with a double patty monstrosity with bacon. Portion sizes are out of control. The smell of peanuts inside is nauseating -- if someone opened the door, somebody with peanut allergies might literally die in the parking lot (okay, kidding!). I think it's only fair to judge a fast food burger against other fast food burgers. Comparing 5 Guys to any other fast food burger and it's immediately obvious. 5 Guys is much better. Made to order and not reheated in a microwave, their burgers are tasty and juicy (note: the regular burger is a double) and the fries are about as good as those I've had in Belgium. Amazing burgers. A bit pricier than fast food but so much better. They have one of the new coke machines which I Love. Don't go there if you have a peanut allergy since there's boxes of them everywhere for you to munch on while you wait. Service is quick. Just like my previous review..after a movie my boyfriend and I went to Five Guys for a quick burger and fries. The food was great as usual, however the service was terrible. Apparently there was a misunderstanding with the workers making the food so one of them was yelling and screaming at the rest of them for about 10 minutes straight. An order for three burgers, each different, but not particularly complex. We get the burgers home, and all three are made wrong. Go back to the store. They remake them, which is good. We check them. Five Guys is like Wendys with very few menu choices.... great fries... some fun to the concept.... but a wasted chance to have a great burger chain. The corporate founders are too cheap to properly train the staff and get them safe food certified as required for restaurants so they wouldn't have to serve only well done burgers under MA law.... Five Guys tries to make up for it by using VERY FATTY MEAT to avoid dry burgers.... but they end up with a stringy gristly burger... Pink Slime?? The real shame is that Five Guys could be a great place.... but the corporate founders insist (according to staff at three different locations) on doing everything on the cheap.... and assuming that the employees are without skills and that customers won't know the difference.. even down to preventing stores from selling milk shakes and other stuff that would be great. Instead of great burgers and atmosphere like Johny Rockets..... Five Guys is a glorified Burger King... Believe me, the burgers are not any better and they are more expensive. read more

I should have known. The star is for the fries ... which merit 5 stars. BUT, come on ... burgers "cooked well done and juicy" give me a break. NO choices but MEAT here except drinks. After shelling out close to $11.00, I had a burnt burger, an order of fries and a small root beer. Did I say $11.00 ?
