4/14/21 I went to Smashburger for the first time today - I had seen it there recently and was happy to give it a try today while my car tires were getting fixed at the tire store in its complex. All the patrons in the place were happy and the crew was meeting customers with smiles and efficiency. As I waited in line I could see that a young teen in front of me who was ordering his lunch was coming up a bit short with the money needed to pay for the food he planned to get. He had a ziplock full of change that he had brought to buy his lunch. Before I could step in to offer to cover the difference he needed the man up front who I assumed was the manager calmly and without pause or judgement said that it was ok and that he would take care of things for the boy and that things were all set. The young woman at the register also was helpful and kind to the teen. I thought their demeanor and kindness was great and it made my day. As I left I stopped to speak to him to praise them for being such good people and for the great customer service. I went to hand him a big tip for the two of them since I was so warmed by their humanity and helpfulness but I was met with a very humble no, no, no and I saw that he was very pleased though that I spoke up to give them praise. So off I went to eat my lunch the fries were...Great... the fish sandwich was ... Great.. I'll be back there to have more meals in the future, burgers etc and will bring the wife and kids- Thanks team for brightening my day. read more

Great juicy hamburgers bursting with flavor . (Doubles are amazing, but even the singles are mighty filling.) Brussel sprouts are to die for. Great Coke too (which isn't always the case at burger franchises). Super clean and the staff is so darn friendly you might never leave . Rhonda is a peach. We ordered the double spicy jalapeño burger and brisket burger with smash fries and scorchin tots. The burger and sides were fine except for the buns they were blah and almost stale like. The soda and ice machine was out of order, the bottled beverages were barely cold. I went to wash my hands after my burger and the hallway had holes in the wall, plaster all over the ground and and the baseboard trim was away from the wall, going into the ladies room had a bathroom out of order and the soap dispenser was falling off the wall. It was filthy and it all looked like a war zone. Gift card or not, we will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. read more

Went on April 6th 2025 around 6:15pm. Burger was cooked great and staff were really nice. Especially the guy, maybe the manager, who was running food to the tables. He was incredibly professional and was doing a great job. It was really nice to see that in a fast food type environment read more

We get here with over an hour before closing time, only to be told that the dining room is closed for some reason, and they're only doing to-go orders. Nothing about that on their website, but fine. We start ordering, only to be told that they're "out of chicken". Note, this is not a food truck or a mom-and-pop shop. This is a large chain, and one would expect better. Asked for the manager - apparently one isn't there. Asked for the manager's phone number - denied. Instead, a "shift leader" wanted to give us attitude, as if we're bothering her to do her job. 7/28/2025 Today we had one of the best experiences! I can't recall her name, but the team member who recommended the brisket sandwich meal was amazing. Her enthusiasm and positive attitude made the meal even more enjoyable for my wife and me. Her service was warm, genuine, and truly appreciated. read more

We ordered two simple kids meals and an adult burger to go. We waited about 15 minutes meanwhile people came in after us and got their food delivered. When we questioned them about what was taking so long - they finally got the burgers. And the milkshake. No fries. Two staff kept picking up a to go bag and setting it back down. They finally brought it to us. COLD FRIES!!! No apology. We will never visit another one! Additionally one of the staff was in the seating area with no food and apparently sleeping. So me and my son came in at about 8:40 for a late meal. Figured we'd cap the week off with something, have a seat and maybe enjoy a shake. We had never been there but were curious about it and even my son said "let's try something new." But when we walked in, the crew looked at us almost annoyed and the FIRST thing they said after getting to the register was "Sorry just so you know we're only doing take out now, dining in is closed." Per the website they closed at 9:30 so we thought we still had maybe 45 minutes or so. So unfortunately I can't comment on the food as we decided to go elsewhere. Obviously they didn't really care to take orders and the thing is if they made it that clear about closing dining 45 minutes early, chances are there could be shortcuts with food prep too. Won't be back to that one but maybe if there's a different one with better service, maybe. Not like there's a shortage of burger places. Last comment... when we left my son mentioned it did smell a little funny there and I think it was the cleaning products. So they were already cleaning which is probably why they didn't want anyone to eat in. Don't get me wrong I like clean establishment ts. Here is to another of your mid tier burger chains like Five Guys / Mooyah / etc.  Their pre-build burger selection I like more, in that it gives you more options and possibly something new to try instead of just build it yourself.  The meat and ingredients are fine, and I honestly feel Smashburger outperforms Five Guys in terms of the burger itself, but always loses to their fries (even though they have tots which is a plus) They do have more of a fry selection, and also have a sweet potato fry which is good. But I will usually go tots if I can just because those are more uncommon and just awesome. Overall this location is fine.  It is a chain so nothing earth shattering about it, but still better than picking your standard drive thru burger joint.  Sit and enjoy your burger as it is cooked to order, but probably also sit there and possibly regret it a little if you were trying to loose any weight this summer. read more

I have been to Smashburger 6 or 7 times now in the past 6 years since first trying it while living in San Diego. I feel the same way now as I did then and this visit was a nice reminder why that is so. Great food, consistent, fast, quality, price. Each time, every time and all locations you find it. My DIY burger and salad were spot on the money as expected. Never had a bad experience at a SB and this one kept that streak alive for me. What other burger chain gets you a delicious build it yourself, item for item, burger and salad plus a killer side for under $23? I only wish St. Louis had these as well now! read more

Do NOT order online if you want to add things or customize your burger. Ordered online today. I ordered a classic smash burger single with a gluten free bun, lettuce, cheddar cheese, avocado, mushrooms, lettuce and mayo (no American cheese, red onion, pickles, tomato, Ketchup, tomato and smash sauce). My boyfriend ordered a bacon smash single with haystacks and American (no lettuce, tomato, and mayo). Opened up my burger and all it had on it was a tiny piece of lettuce. That's literally it. He was missing his haystacks. I decided to give the store a call because they got my burger completely wrong (besides the gf bun which thank god since I have celiac). When I called the girl who answered the phone first said we ordered it wrong. I said the confirmation receipt says exactly what I ordered. Spent about 5 mins on the phone with her including about a minute of holding while she talked to her manager. She suggested I come in to get the add ons and pay for them and when I said no she stated she "didn't know what else they could do for me". At that point I had enough of them telling me I ordered wrong and every other excuse they could come up with and ended the call. It's shocking to me that they will allow their customers to order online with customizations and then not provide them. Seems pretty bait and switch to me. Even chipotle says they can't support customizations on their online ordering. Get with it Smashburger. Not sure I'll be back now. read more

Was top-notch. Been declining over the past year or so. Employees really have an "I don't care" attitude - leave lotsa tables dirty while they gather behind cash register and chat w/each other. They are less than enthusiastic to interact with customers - such a change from when this place opened - they were fun, engaging and genuine. I come back b/c the food is pretty decent - hence the 4 stars. But - burger size is shrinking, fries are so much soggier, and topping choice is gone now. The app doesn't work half the time - and the manage t if this location won't respond to emails anymore. VERY ODD. I got out of work early today to do some Christmas shopping and I chose to go to this Smashburger for lunch first. I used to go to the one in Westwood every now and then since I used to work near there. Anyway, I get there and have to wait for someone to take my order. An employee came out from the back and explained that there is a 25 minute wait since they are short staffed. I was ok with that, so I placed my order: a single bacon smash, an order of tots and a drink. When my order was ready, it was delivered to my table and I started to eat. My tots were hot, but my burger was cold (room temperature). I ate it anyway and didn't mention it to anyone as I didn't want to wait another half hour. okay, so I was an hour late in picking up the food, but the price of this place is truly what is most stunning. One chicken sandwich, one beef burger, tots and a shake, $28. doesn't sound right. I know this is a bit shocking in this day and age of take out, but the price was really what threw me for a loop. I went in at 11:45 for lunch, obviously usually the start of lunch rush. There was one person eating, no one in line. Someone who looked like a manager said hi to me then disappeared into the back. There was no one at the register, and I saw no one in the kitchen. There was also a bad musty smell in the restaurant. I waited at the register for several minutes with no service. I eventually just left and went to Five Guys. I know the labor market is rough, but it just seems like this place has just given up. It's a shame because the food has always been good. read more

I made the mistake of Door Dashing a truffle mushroom Swiss burger from the Natick, MA store. The burger was very hot when it arrived but it was so overcooked, it was actually crunchy. The Smash fries are nothing special, just shoestring fries with herbs. It cost me $26 dollars including the tip. In my opinion, Wendy's single is a far better burger. read more

The burger: I got the Classic Smash Single, which is a basically the standard American cheeseburger. They do thin patties here so a single cheeseburger is not a towering monstrosity. The bun is decent quality, it doesn't get soggy or greasy. In fact, this burger isn't a grease bomb. Don't expect to have your mind blown, but it's a bit better than the big fast food chains. The fries: I had the regular fries once several years ago. I remember them being fine, but totally unremarkable. They do thin McDonald's style fries at Smashburger and honestly, most places can't do these better than the original and Smashburger is no exception. If you like McDonald's fries, you will like these, but they aren't better. The Smash fries come tossed in rosemary, parsley, and olive oil. These do not work at all. Tossing the fries probably cools them down and they're so thin that the olive oil ruins their crispness. Value: The pricepoint at Smashburger is $2-3 higher for a burger and fries than the big fast food chains. The burgers are definitely higher quality. Whether that's worth it or not, I'm not completely convinced of. Overall: Definitely not a Five Guys killer. If you want fancy McDonalds, this will do. If I came back again, I might skip the fries and get a bigger burger. read more

Going into this place I had read so many reviews about how they are better than Five Guys which is my FAVORITE burger place. So I had high expectations, especially since my friend loves this place. The line was a bit long, but there's menus when you walk in so you can figure out what you want, but they don't have any prices on them so you have to wait til you get to the front for that. They sell beer and cider which is cool. When you're done you just get up and leave cause they don't have trash bins. But there is always someone coming right over to sweep away the trash and clean the table. A star for cleanliness ! I was highly disappointed by my meal. First up I made my own burger, a beef burger on a multi grain roll with bacon, lettuce, mayo, and light ketchup. The patty was barely a patty, thin and falling apart. The bun was cold and way too big. The smash fries are supposed to have garlic and rosemary. While they were hot and cooked perfectly, there was the slightest hint of rosemary on a couple fries maybe. I would say if you're going to come here, skip the food and just get a milkshake. That they can do very well. read more

Also took money from customers touched the register and keypad to make payments without cleaning or changing gloves. Then she went over to the sash sign and continued touching food! I just witnessed the greatest display of racism within an establishment i have ever personally entered. A family of 5 black people (one of them a child that was escorted to the car later) were denied service at the restaurant with the justification of "dine in being closed". However, when I walked up to the podium, I was allowed to eat there with absolutely no issue. When the family noticed this, they rightfully got angry and stared yelling. These workers had absolutely no justification for what they were doing...all they had was silence. While I was being seated, the woman asked me if I was allowed to dine in, and I truthfully said yes. This obviously escalated the situation even further, and the people started demanding to know why they were not being served. Instead of answering the question, the manager came out and threatened to call the police (without hearing what they were saying) and the lady cooking burgers told them to "take their burger and go" (which was a correction of their original order). I'm a guy who likes his burgers, so while I was out trying to get some holiday shopping done, I decided to give Smash Burger a try. This place was bustling, so clearly it is well liked. Unfortunately, I found the burger to be completely pedestrian. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger. It was cooked well done and was not juicy. This should be hinted at by the name of the restaurant: Smash Burger. If you press a patty down while cooking it, you'll basically squeeze any rendered fat (juices) out. This (and the lack of seasoning when the burger was made) left the burger (despite the bacon and cheddar cheese) kind of bland. Why didn't I mention the BBQ sauce you may be asking? Well, they didn't put any on the burger. I was just just so preoccupied with getting my thoughts together for my continued shopping adventure that it didn't occur to me until after the fact. I actually forgot that the burger I ordered was supposed to come with sauce on it. Although it would've helped a burger in need, it wasn't a big deal. The interesting thing really came from my decision to order the fried pickles instead of the regular fries. I've had fried pickles many times in many different restaurants and I enjoy salty foods (that much should be obvious) but these fried pickles were extremely salty. One of the saltiest things I've ever eaten. They were in fact so salty that even with abusing the dip that comes with them I could only finish about a third of the portion. read more

Fast food restaurants aren't really my thing but I decided to give smashburger a try after struggling to find a good restaurant in the area. It was my first time here so I didn't know what to expect. I ordered the spicy jalapeño burger with the sweet potato smash fries. I was afraid the jalapeño burger was going to be too spicy from the description, as I am not one to be able to handle spicy but I do like a kick to my burgers. It turned out to not be spicy at all which I was disappointed about. I felt like the burger lacked flavor, especially for a fast food restaurant. I am not looking to eat healthy when I order a burger so pack on the sodium and other trans fats! The fries were delicious! Thin, crispy and flavorful. Definitely try it! 45 minutes from the time we ordered to when we got our food. Seems like half the order was ready before the other half so it sat there and got soggy and cold while other orders were prioritized. By the time we finally received our order it was missing our tots and Brussels sprouts so we ate the rest of the food while waiting and didn't even want the tots and sprouts by the time they came out. TL;DR: Instead of a quick, satisfying lunch, I was treated to a slow, unsatisfying, anxiety ridden experience. My family and I were shopping in Sherwood Plaza and thought Smashburger would be a quick stop for a nice fast-casual burger and fries. We visited about 15 minutes after opening on a Saturday and it was the worst "fast" food experience I've had in a long time. First, there were two groups already seated and waiting for their food. So we were the 3rd group in the store. Our order was taken promptly and then we waited a solid 25 minutes to get our food. So much for "fast". Second, the burger itself was an incredible disappointment. I ordered the mushroom truffle burger and there was one, maybe two, mushrooms. Even worse, the burger itself was *maybe* 1/8th of a pound of meat, and was burned into a tiny little hockey puck that filled less than half the bun. The patty was so small that the swiss cheese slice was burned into swiss cheese "chips" at every corner where the cheese was larger than the burger. Third, the store was filthy. Given the restaurant had just opened for the day, I was left wondering: "does no one clean overnight?" The floor was slick, presumably from grease that had settled over time. But the bathroom took the cake. Words cannot describe the degree of nastiness I encountered here. I'm not sure when the bathroom was last cleaned, but from the log on the door, it had not been cleaned since *at least* 2:30pm the day before (there are no dates on log, so it's possible it had actually been multiple days). Again, the store had just opened for the day, so I'm just assuming no one cleans after closing. Just gross. I can only hope the Natick location is an outlier, because I can't imagine this chain being in business much longer if our experience was the norm. read more
