five guys burger and fries menu 4/2010
    Vivian C.

They are located in the 9/27 Shopping Center, a portion facing Route 27. The dinner line was out the door when we got there at 7pm on a rainy Friday night. Fortunately they had boxfuls of peanuts for us to shell and munch on while we waited for the rest of our party to join us at our table. The menu is quite short, with their regular burger served two meat patties at a time with options of plain, with cheese, with bacon, with bacon & cheese. Then there are the 15 item toppings menu - any or all of which are FREE! For those of smaller appetite there is the Little Burger option with a single patty, and the same 4 options. Same with hot dogs. Then there's the veggie sandwich (with and without cheese), grilled cheese, soda (2 sizes, FREE REFILLS), bottled water, and of course, the fries. I got the $4.09 little cheeseburger (I was forewarned by a friend about the number of meat patties) and we shared some fries. Orders are called out as they are prepared, so listen for your number and you'll be awarded with a freshly prepared hot product. I enjoyed my burger and fries, while my friend preferred this burger over In-And-Out's with the exception of the bun. What lifts this place into 4 star land, however, is that when one friend realized her bacon burger was missing its bacon after having consumed half her dinner, the staff here quickly gave her a whole new (and complete) burger in its place. That's customer service! Also, there were staff members floating around the room wiping down the tables, which was great!

I was surprised at how good these burgers are. The first time I ate a burger at Five Guys, I spent the entire burger trying to explain to myself that, since I was full, I didn't technically need a subsequent, ancillary burger. I prevailed over my baser instincts, but it was really close. This is not something that comes up very often, so it's a big deal. Simple ordering system, lots of toppings but very few frills. The buns are boring (plain old sesame-seeded, white bread, cold, untoasted, out-of-the-bag buns) but the complete package is awesome. The meat is flavorful and juicy. The fries are excellent. My favorite thing is a bacon cheeseburger: the American cheese is wobbly and melty and yellow, and the experience of sitting in a bright, white and red room eating complimentary peanuts and cheeseburgers and sipping fountain soda is very pleasant, indeed. Unsurprisingly, it can get crowded, but if you order online (even from your smart phone in the car!) and take your food to-go, it can bring the sting out of it. When compared to any other chain burger I've ever eaten, ever, they get five stars. When I think about the overall experience of this no-frills restaurant as it stacks up to other kinds and categories of establishments, it gets a very respectable four stars. I enjoy the food, the price is right, and a Five Guys burger makes for a nice reward for doing all the errands that usually bring me to that shopping center (grocery shopping, office supply run, UPS drop-offs, etc).

I hate to admit this but I was (emphasis on the was) a Five Guys virgin. While my husband has partaken several times, I have never been with him on these adventures (even my daughter went before I did). My yelp friend Frannie was shocked and told me she wanted to be with me when I "popped" my ... wait a minute, this probably has to be G-rated. I had the small Bacon Cheeseburger and a small order of fries. Note to other virgins: the small is still ample (see my picture) and we took the extras home. It washow I remember burgers tasting like when I was a kid. It was cooked to order - no frills - and it was yummy. I also have to say the price is right. It will not break the bank if you go as a family. If you have kids and go here, they have a soda machine (I am told not all Five Guys has this so be forewarned) that you can choose a standard soda from and then customize it with other flavors. I have always wanted a cherry cola but not the calories - I got the Diet Coke with the cherry added and it was all I dreamed of and more :)

All the patrons in the place were happy and the crew was meeting customers with smiles and efficiency. As I waited in line I could see that a young teen in front of me who was ordering his lunch was coming up a bit short with the money needed to pay for the food he planned to get. He had a ziplock full of change that he had brought to buy his lunch. Before I could step in to offer to cover the difference he needed the man up front who I assumed was the manager calmly and without pause or judgement said that it was ok and that he would take care of things for the boy and that things were all set. The young woman at the register also was helpful and kind to the teen. I thought their demeanor and kindness was great and it made my day. As I left I stopped to speak to him to praise them for being such good people and for the great customer service. I went to hand him a big tip for the two of them since I was so warmed by their humanity and helpfulness but I was met with a very humble no, no, no and I saw that he was very pleased though that I spoke up to give them praise. So off I went to eat my lunch the fries were...Great... the fish sandwich was ... Great.. I'll be back there to have more meals in the future, burgers etc and will bring the wife and kids- Thanks team for brightening my day.

That killed it for me to buy more than one. After checking out Yelp photos and the online menu first upon arrival, I settled on the "New York Style" hot dog with small fry (3.50) and no drink. It came out to $15. It took a little while to get my order. I was there ordering with the cashier before some guy came after to order by kiosk which got his order first. My hotdog was loaded and tasted amazing. After finishing, I wish I had another because I wasn't full even after the fries. But I could never pay $20 for 2 hotdogs. Shop was clean and cute inside. Cashier was nice. A fairly new resident recommended the chicken bowl next time. The only other location is on the Natick Mall. They would be more busy if they come down $3-$4. Hope they aren't wasting their toppings with these prices.

I had the chicken bowl it was a somewhat small serving of chicken. I moved it from the bowl to cut it up. I ended up eating just the chicken, sour cream and beans. We walked into a straightforward fast food space that stays busy, particularly on weekends, with an energy that matches the straightforward menu. The restaurant is clean and functional, designed around getting people in and out efficiently without sacrificing the quality of what comes out of the kitchen. The menu is deliberately narrow, built around chicken fingers and the handful of sides and sauces that complement them, and that focus pays off in the consistency of what we ordered. The chicken fingers are the obvious centerpiece and they held up, crispy on the outside and juicy throughout without the greasiness that brings down a lot of fast food fried chicken. The sauce is the thing that turns a good chicken finger into the reason people come back. Creamy and tangy with a slight kick, it plays well against the chicken and makes every component on the tray work better with it than without. Ordering an extra cup is the right move, and most regulars do it without thinking twice. The Texas toast is genuinely one of the better versions of the format at a fast food chain, buttery and slightly crisp in a way that earns its place on the tray rather than just filling it. The crinkle cut fries are solid without being remarkable, and the coleslaw does its job as a palate break between the richer items. The staff is a consistent highlight at this location, with an energy and friendliness that stands out in a category where that kind of engagement is rare. Order accuracy can slip during the heaviest rushes, so checking the bag before leaving is worth the extra moment. For a fast food stop that knows exactly what it is and delivers on that promise consistently, Raising Cane's is a reliable choice.

I usually go to KFC a block away for a meal. I wanted the chicken fingers and I ordered the 4 piece combo to dine in. Service was quick and was packed to go? Receipt clearly says dine in? The counter guy , He unpacks and puts on a tray. Chicken tenders were moist, juicy, cooked perfect and breading perfect... issue was bland taste to chicken? Needs spices of offer a spiced version? Fries were ok, but many small dinky fries? The guy gave me ketchup packs which were Heinz . I also got ketchup at the self serve by the drinks self serve. The self serve ketchup tasted different and not Heinz ? The Canes sauce... they serve only one with the meal. They charge 49 cents it appears for additional sauce. The hey are stingy with the sauce vs. unlimited at Chik fil a ? One sauce not enough for 4 pieces for me.... The interior and vibe , music is attractive and appealing to the young crowd vs family or senior dining at Chik Fila . Very good chicken and 4 pieces meal priced reasonable . The Cole slaw was excellent and a high light. The bread toasted looked a 1/2 of a hot dog roll? It was only toasted on one side? No garlic toast flavors at all? It was a decent meal and welcome alternative to KFC or Chik Fil A who is closed Sundays and prices high? Canes I didn't see a shake drink Offering or a desert , or ice cream option unless I missed it ... I would like a great salad with one or two of these chicken tenders cut up on it.
