The fries are cooked with their skins on and served fresh per order. The servings are large and served in a bag. Overall, I am not sure why it took me so long to try their burger, as they are very good. For fast food, Five Guys is worth the stop. A really decent cheeseburger and fries are HARD to find in Muskegon. The closest competitor around here is Big Mikey's and these two businesses are very close when it comes to reviewing or selling comparing them. Five Guys has excellent burgers where the meat is 100% beef, fresh, and cooked only after you order it. The bun and trimmings are also very fresh. When inside you'll notice no freezers, only refrigerators so everything is fresh - never frozen. When they use the best ingredients, don't take shortcuts and strive to make it as good as it can get - you won't likely be disappointed with the results. The fries are outstanding. One serving will serve 3 to 4, or stuff 1 or 2. Fresh cooked, delightfully crunchy, perfectly salted. I had a chocolate shake that was hand mixed, this didn't come out of a machine. Why not 5 stars when I describe something so wonderful? I'm sure 5 guys knows as they sell the most expensive burger in town. Burgers were supposed to be a budget lunch or dinner once upon a time. When balancing the choice, especially in Muskegon (not known for fabulous cuisine), it comes as a compromise. Yes, one of if not the best cheeseburger / fries venues in the area worth 5 stars but sold at a price that will cost 5 Guys one star in the overall rating. So if you are looking for a great cheeseburger and fries and have a little extra in the wallet, you might also consider that extra change is buying something really rare around here - the legendary 'real thing' cheeseburger/fries that has all but disappeared from restaurants in this region. OK, we'll start with atmosphere. I was in at 4PM today and was one of three customers in the restaurant. The tables were mostly dirty and it took a minute for us to find a clean seat. The floors were also dirty and I was not impressed despite the otherwise crisp new look of the restaurant. The lady that took my order was friendly enough and the kitchen staff seemed in good spirits. The only complaint I have here is whenever a customer would enter they would yell, "one more in the door!" and I found it to take away from my dining experience as it was distracting and made it difficult to have a conversation. The price was a little steep, which I had heard but thought that if the food was good I was willing to pay a little more. I ordered a cheeseburger and a medium order of fries and my girlfriend ordered a "little cheeseburger" and we got water with our meal for just over $15. I also noticed they had a grilled cheese sandwich for 3.85 I believe it was, I can't imagine someone could make a grilled cheese sandwich worth that much but I could be wrong. Concerning the menu, I found that while it looked simple and easy at first glance, they tried to put their own little twist and their "cheeseburger" was actually a double cheeseburger and their "little cheeseburger" was actually a regular cheeseburger. It is misleading and made me feel like I really didn't get what I had wanted. Down to the food. The burger I got wasn't bad... that being said it wasn't great either. It was cooked well but seemed to lack seasoning and was quite bland. The two pieces of cheese on my burger were both put in between my two patties of meat together. This wouldn't be a problem except that once the cheese melted it started oozing out of my burger when I was eating it and that second piece of cheese just ended up in a puddle on my wrapper. The fries on the other hand were soft and mushy. Not much flavor there either although the portion was very large which in itself was a tragedy because it was such a waste. I had a cup and half a bag of fries but they were so tasteless and soggy that I only had a handful of them and the rest went in the trash. So in summary, I don't believe this is a bad place to eat but rather that there are other options that offer a better value in the area. I likely will not return for that very reason. read more

For burger joints this is by far my favorite and best in the area. No its not so healthy, no you dont get plates but its so juicy and fresh that you wont care. Everything is fresh and made right after you order it, right where you can watch, the staff is friendly and humorous at times. The coke machine has more flavors then you can think of and then the fries. I dont know what it is but the fries here are so good, its one of the only places i eat fries at, they even have what farm they came from. Be careful if you are allergic to peanuts, they have a huge box of them for free to snack on while you wait or just to eat with your meal. read more

I see why this chain is rapidly growing. They have perfected hamburgers and fries. Its amazing because its fast food that taste homemade, you can't get any better than that. They will customize for it and wrap in plain old foil like it came from home. The fries are fresh too. They may be greasy but its nothing like having Real potatoes fried in Real peanut oil. The food at 5GBF is AMAZING!! I like to eat at a place with good service and a place with quality food and this was exactly the place. The burgers arnt like some places (McDonalds) and have great flavor. My favorite part is all sides on your burger is free unlike most where you pay per side.
