Five Guys is always going to get a great review from me for the food. I love the smash style burger and the fries are to die for. They have one of those soda machines that has lots of flavors. Peach Sprite is always my go to there. Counter staff was friendly and moved everyone along so the wait was minimal. My only regret every time I go there is the pricing. 2 bacon cheeseburgers,a large fry and two of the regular drinks were $52. "Farm to Table Fries" The restaurant is very clean and organized. I wasn't sure what to expect for portion size so I got the Little Bacon Cheeseburger and the little fries. Good thing I went that route. The "Little" burger means it's a single burger patty. Regular size is two burger patties. I had my "Little" burger topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and sliced jalapeno peppers. The so called "Little" bacon cheeseburger was huge. It was the tastiest burger I've had in a restaurant in a long time. I believe the star of the show at Five Guys are the fries. They have bags upon bags of Idaho potatoes on display ready to be cut fresh daily and fried to perfection. I love that they leave the skins on for more flavor. They even have a sign stating that their supply of potatoes came from Riverside Farm in Parker, Idaho. They really take pride in freshness. Five Guys has one of those new self serve soda machines that blends a gizzilion soda combinations. I prefer bottled water, but it's a cool machine. They even offer free peanuts to pick on while you wait for your order. As the cook bagged my order, he placed the burger in the bag, then the "Little" cup of fries, and then he dumped a small tray of extra fries in the bag. Another import note is that all the regular burgers are actually DOUBLE Burgers. If you want a single patty order one of the "Little" burgers. Everything on the menu is under 6$ so it's inexpensive. A regular fry is the size of a large fry anywhere else because they always put an extra scoop in the bag. . . A large fry is enough for two adults and 2 kids with some left over. Here I am, it's 330pm and I have not eaten anything all day (due to my hectic travel schedule). I just happen to be driving through Middletown, Ct when I can't take it anymore, I need to eat something. I whip out google maps and examine what food I may find near by. I'm scrolling through the typical options: Japanese, Mexican, Italian, blah blah then I saw it! FIVE GUYS. I've never been to a FIVE GUYS in my life and I've heard a lot about it over the years and in passing. I figured why the hell not? A burger sounds perfect right now. Boy, was I in for a surprise. As I walk through the door and proceed to the counter, I am greeted by the most charismatic person I have ever met, Eddie. I look at the menu dumbfounded at all of the options, then I quickly explain to Eddie that I've never been to a FIVE GUYS before. He clapped his and gave a devilish grin of excitement when I asked for his recommendation. He was so passionate in his effort to explain why FIVE GUYS was the best and how I'm about to be blown away as soon as I taste the food. All the while he is putting my order in he is explaining this to me he suddenly stops talking and looks at me. The next words that came out of his mouth are monumental: " I'm just going to stop explaining because you are about to find out for yourself". Let me tell you, I took one bite. The freshest burger I have ever had in my entire life (yes, even better than the one at uncle Joe's annual 4th of July cookout). I can't even explain it. Honestly I think this is why Eddie stopped explaining to me, he just ran out of words to describe this taste. The Cajun fries are on point perfectly crispy and just a hint of spice. My mother and I used to come here a lot...and loved it. These days, sadly, there is a whole new landscape out there. Today, I got her out of the house, careful to make sure that she stayed in the car. I was under the impression that fast food places were available for in-person takeout. This one wasn't. I was banned outright from entering the building. Was only going to order, go back outside, and wait...but that was not possible. If the man had offered to take my order at the door, I certainly would have complied. Being California natives, my wife and I have the constant battle over which is better - Five Guys or In N Out. I think it's whichever place you aren't at. Five Guys is great because there's so many good options for things to add to your burger. I see that I can add peppers and grilled onions and stuff, and I'm all "Me want food." Their fries (plain or cajun) are good and you only need a small order of them to feed your entire family and pets. Plus, hey, peanuts. The first Five Guys I have ever been too. Parking is a nightmare. They are always crowded, but fear not, you can park next door in the banks parking lot. They wont mind, they close early. Also, parking lot is tough to get into. Traffic is disastrous in that area. Burgers are delicious and the wait is about 5-10 minutes, but it is worth it for fresh food. Fried are made with peanut oil so they are gluten free. They give you a ton of fries here. Staff was pleasant. If you are a burger fanatic, you must go to any five guys. If you live in Wallingford, Meriden, or Middletown. This is the one to go to. read more

When I want a really good burger my way, I make the drive to the Middletown location and order the regular cheeseburger with everything on it (and I mean EVERYTHING. I like my burgers messy) and some fries and just go all in. Everything is cooked to order in front of you and it's all really delicious. Make sure you get the Cajun fries. The seasoning compliments the fresh cut and fried potato perfectly. For under $10 with a drink and well made food, this is a true value meal. My one small complaint is that I wish they'd leave the seeds in the jalapenos as I'd like to actually taste some heat. read more

You get what you pay for and pound for pound, their burgers are filling, tasty and worth the drive every time as opposed to dishing out $1.00 less for say McDonald's or Burger King or other. The fries they serve here are also hands down some of the best I've eaten, and I am a burgers and fries kind of guy.
