I'm not big on fast food places, but sometimes you just want a burger that's uncomplicated, fast, and well-priced. Given the options around town, Five Guys is one of the top choices. The burgers are huge, made to order, and the ingredients look/taste fresh and minimally processed. (No crumbly pre-packaged sad iceberg shards here-- the lettuce is actually leafy and green!) The fries are made from local potatoes. Shakes were a bit sugary for my taste, but BF loved it-- the strawberry is real marinaded fruit, not just red syrup. Given how expensive food has gotten post-Covid, it's actually not that pricey--$8 for a "little" cheeseburger, which is not at all little. For two burgers, small fries (which, again, was not at all small), and a shake, the bill came to $30 after tax and tip. I didn't think it was bad at all, we walked away pretty stuffed. The staff is super friendly, and the place is very clean-- I'm always surprised that there aren't more customers here when we visit. read more

I recently visited last week and purchased a milkshake. While there, I experienced something that made me feel unwelcome as a customer. The general manager spoke to my cashier (who happened to be my server) in a way that discouraged them from engaging with me, even though I was simply placing and paying for an order. I've been in there twice. Literally only for the hotdogs. Tried them once, and was feeling a dog and they didn't disappoint either time! I need grilled mushrooms and onions, you got me! What a great thing to now have a Five Guys burger & fries right here in Medford. Southern Oregon is now on the map for tasty burgers and fries. As a long time follower of this chain, I had to go for their grand opening. It had been several years since I ate one of their burgers and today's meal didn't disappoint. I had a big burger with cheese and mushrooms and every bite was juicy and flavorful. Their fries were hot and crisp making a perfect compliment. Wash it all down with an iced a Coke and you'll be completely satisfied. The location is easy to get to and the whole retail center is new. Ok, so if owners really get to read these, then I want them to know my experience tonight! I visited the store on December 19th around 5:30 pm. I ordered a double bacon cheese with the works & extra mushrooms. I got cajun fries & a raspberry ice tea as well. The staff of this night- all guys- was really really AWESOME! They worked together like a well oiled machine. My food was THE BEST I've ever had here. I posted pictures of my food on Yelp- it was that good. So look back on your records of who was working at 5 that night and give them all a raise. One other thing- I hate it when businesses have their employees say hi as soon as you walk in the door, its never genuine and makes the customer feel like its just something the employer requires- This staff made it GENUINE- they actually made me feel like they meant it that i was welcomed in the restaurant. Most of the time my order is correct, sometimes it's very obvious and the order gets mixed up. When you see 3 stars, you start getting concerned. The night was ending and almost everything was closed in town. The Five Guys was still open so we stopped in hoping for a decent bite to eat. Andrea was peppy at the front counter which gave us some hope. We decided to order our burgers in a bowl (no bun) and she made sure we had enough (extra) toppings. Marquise in the back had all the veggies chopped, fries sliced and patties formed even before we got there. Danielle wo-"manned" the griddle tonight and the patties come out PERFECT. John set up the bowls and hops on the fryer, whipping up a fresh batch (read: bagload) of cajun fries. You would think that one of the Five Guys would know how to make a good burger! If they went to any kind of culinary school, they all need to get their money back. My husband had the Bacon Cheeseburger and I had a Grilled Cheese Sandwich. When we both took bites of our sandwiches..it was almost in unison... "Ewww, this cheese tastes funny.". Even though I've never eaten it, Government Made Processed Cheese Food came immediately to mind. He said his burger was less than mediocre, having had way better burgers at other chains. I used to really like 5 Guys. After this last experience, I don't think I will be going back. I stopped in on my way home from grocery shopping to grab something so I wouldn't have to cook and so I could get back to work. To get my food, once the order was placed, took 43 minutes. I saw the burger come off the line about 20 minutes in, then watched as it grew cold next to eleven other burgers over the next 23 minutes. Although they were busy, it really came down to a lack of organization and an apparent indifference from the workers. An entire table of food growing cold as workers stood around talking. At sixteen dollars for one small burger, medium fries and a shake (without tax) I would expect better. I could drive to the store, buy meat, buns, fixings, icecream and fruit, drive back home and cook myself the same meal in less time and for less money than I spent on this cold mess. read more

WARNING: Ridiculously expensive - standard small town burger stand food w/ steakhouse prices. It cost me $50 to feed my family of 4 a cheeseburger and fry meal. I dont know how these guys compete with In & Out Burgers, Red Robin and Carl's JR in close proximity. The price we paid did not come with a revolutionary food experience, better than average customer service or an abundance of warm and fuzzy feelings. They did however offer up the name and location of potatoe farm our fries of the day were sourced from. As far as chains goes, this place is pretty good. It's funny reading all the comments about how "expensive" it is or how it's "overrated" from people who live in Medford. Small town experiences. Sure, it's more expensive than In-N-Out, but it's cheaper than Jaspers, and it fits nicely as the in-between of fast food and gourmet burgers. Plus, you don't HAVE to order the regular burger that comes with two patties, you can do the smaller one patty burger thats around $6. The $3 for a small fry can honestly be shared between two people, everyone knows 5 guys dumps a double portion in the bag. The lines are long, sure, it's brand new, thats how new novelties work. The staff was friendly, and the process went smoothly. Being from Texas, it's hard to trust yelp reviews in Medford. I really enjoy five guys and I'm really excited to finally have on in Medford. While their prices are slightly higher than other chain burger joints, I truly think it's worth it for the quality and the toppings. In regards to this location, we came around lunchtime on a Monday and it was quite busy, but they had more than enough staff to keep things flowing smoothly. The tables were clean and someone was wiping counters and windows the whole time we were there which was reassuring. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious. First for the 'pro'! They really excel on the fries. The best freshest tasting fries of all the Express restaurants I have ever been too. My husband ordered a 'real strawberry shake' but quickly returned it because of a weird flavor that overshadowed the strawberries. I ordered a chocolate shake and had trouble drinking it because it was really too sweet and tasted like the Hershey syrup was poured in without any consistent formula. The hamburger meat was probably very greasy because it had that crusty sear you get from the grease. I just had bacon on the burger but it was hard to find amongst the tomatoes and lettuce. The tomatoe was fine but the lettuce was not crisp and did not add to the burger. Even though the hamburgers are nothing special N' and Out really know how to put together the bun and excel on that. Their shakes are really good too. Now if you want the best burgers in town just order a California Bacon Burger for $1.40 less at Hero's next to Bi Mart on Biddle and experience the difference! Better meat, excellent bacon and presentation, better quality bun, toasted bun and your favored additions on burger. Everything good there! I ordered the basic hamburger and had a wide choice of add-ons. I chose bell peppers (grilled) and sliced tomato. I was surprised to get two patties of ground beef: apparently this is the basic burger. The thick tomato slice was fresh. Drinks are from computerized Coke dispensers including four choices of iced tea. The burger was better than those at other burger chains. The tables are very close together and kept clean. read more

I went to five guys for the first time in my life on Easter Sunday 2020. I called-in my order and decided to wait in my car to avoid crowds. While the man on the other end said the connection sounded a bit staticky, I placed my order for 4 sandwiches and 2 Cajun fries regardless and everything seemed ready and understood, including the price. I waited in the car for approximately 7 minutes and went in to receive my food, keeping a safe 6 foot distance from al of the masked and gloved workers. Amid my stress and anxiety I have about public places given the crisis, feeling bad for being at the restaurant and out of my house as it was, showering in hand sanitizer at my car, and seeing the receipt tell me I had 4 patties in the bag, I quickly drove home. Upon arrival to my house, I realized we only got half of our order! I called them back to explain what happened, and Josh (the manager) got on the phone to handle the situation. He was so incredibly kind and understanding. I was expecting the worst from that phone call and was pleasantly surprised by excellent customer service! While it could have easily been my fault for not clarifying myself on the phone and not checking the bag of food before I left the restaurant, he quickly took the blame and offered to make the burgers immediately and have them ready for delivery. I insisted that delivering wouldn't be necessary as it would have taken longer anyway, and I drove back to the restaurant myself. When I got there, I was again pleasantly surprised and greeted by name by the worlds friendliest staff!! They all apologized, owned up to a small inconsequential mistake, and even offered me a free milkshake. I hate that Yelp has become a place for negativity. Let's all remember how this pandemic is affecting restaurants and cooks who are doing their best to maintain a fast paced and CLEAN environment. I think five guys, as well as all of the restaurants doing their best to feed us during this crazy time, deserve some recognition for their hard work.
