So I decided I was in the mood for a bacon cheeseburger and a fry. It was a cold raw night outside and I just wanted to go pick it up and come right back home. So I went to Call In my order and the phone rang for over a minute. I started imagining they must be so busy they couldn't answer the phone. But I was determined to get that burger. So I got in my car and I dialed them up again and like the first time there was no answer. I was in my car so I just let it ring on my way there to see if they would eventually answer. How surprise was I when I pulled up and there were no customers in there. I went in there was at least six or seven people working.. I asked the guy who met me at the register. How come you're not answering your phone he said I just got here a half hour ago. And I said I called you twice in the last 10 minutes. So I went and sat down to wait for my order. Which I didn't want to do in the first place. I decided while I was waiting. I'm gonna call them and see if they'll answer. It rang and rang. So I leaned over the counter and asked the crew. How come you're not answering the phone. I said I've now called you three times and I held up my phone to show them that it was ringing on my end. Everybody looked at me kind of dumbfound. Then somebody went over to the register where they usually keep the phone I guess and they couldn't find it. One of the others said, look under the register and there it was. The music was blaring, and the phone was out of sight. When I left, I gave them all a bit of advice that I learned when I was in customer service. When you hear that phone ring, you should hear the sound of money. And I don't think your boss would be happy because you're losing business by not answering the phone. On a good note the fries and burger was good as I remembered. I go there when I'm in a mood to splurge because their prices are a little high. But I will pay it when I want a really good burger. I have been meaning to try out Five Guys for a while now and finally did. I did enjoy the choices on the menu and the service was very efficient and polite. I ordered the small cheeseburger with onions, ketchup, the way that I like it. I thought that it was very tasty and fairly priced. Staff was very nice and efficient. The ambiance was basically fast food. It reminded me of Mcdonalds of the early 90's. Thier food quality is definitely above quality of Mcdonalds. Sat waiting at the register for 5 minutes and only took them 6 times to look at me and then this tiny women came up to the register and in the most boring, bland, and quietest voice she goes "hi" and that's it. Pretty good! They were pretty quick. Here's my gripes... Fries were kinda soggyish and served in a tall drink cup? Is that normal? I thought the last time I went to a 5 guys and the order was for here, they came in boats on a tray... they served my entire for here order in a bag, to go, everyone's were ... my girl liked them but I was only kinda meh. I do not like double stacked butgers. The single however seems to be too little meat for the money. The bun has a tough time keeping up with the burger. I have always been a huge fan of five guys, I would honestly consider it my favorite burger place. That being said, this particular location does not seem to have the ability to correctly make a burger. On multiple occasions, the burger is missing toppings, crushed in the bag, or sloppily crafted in general, as if it were hastily thrown together. There have also been two different occasions of the cashier being both rude and visibility miserable, as if your very presence in the establishment is an annoyance. It is not that difficult to just take some time and effort in creating the food you are going to serve your customers and treating your customers with respect. A smile and positive attitude can go a long way, as well as taking care in what you're creating. Will not be returning to this location! read more

I was hoping for a good burger and a good experience. What I got... well, not what I'd hoped for. I got out of work early tonight and decided to treat myself to some supper so I didn't have to do dishes. I intended to go get sushi, but they were closed already; I figured I would try the new Five Guys. I've been to plenty of Five Guys locations before, and haven't ever had a bad experience. I'm not expecting five-star dining, just... good, quick food and at least decent customer service. I got to the shop at 9:35, placed an order for a burger, fries, and a cherry milkshake. I saw a cup of fries prepared right after my order went through, I grabbed myself a straw for my milkshake, my milkshake came out. I tried it- not good. You know what the chocolate-covered cherries are like? That cough syrupy sweetness and strange texture? This milkshake tasted like the cherries and gloop from inside a chocolate-covered cherry. I ought to have chucked it then and there, but I still had hopes of getting my burger and fries in a reasonable timeframe, and just wanted to go home. After waiting another ten minutes and watching the guy at the griddle just shuffle my patties around, he finally slopped them onto my prepared bun... and swiftly followed those patties with two slices of American cheese. Which I did not order. I asked Griddle Man if the cheese was for my order and he confirmed that it was, until he looked at my ticket and realised I hadn't asked for cheese. So he scraped the cheese off, slapped the patties back on the griddle, and told me he would just cook the remaining cheese off!! For one, those patties were already WAY overcooked. For two, what if I were lactose intolerant and had specifically not ordered cheese because of a health concern? I laughed outright and told him I wanted new patties. And then waited another ten minutes for new overcooked patties. When those were finally on the bun, Griddle Man reached over for the cup of fries that had now been sitting under the heat lamp for twenty+ minutes. "No, I don't want fries that have been sitting for that long," so he grumbled something under his breath and made a new batch of fries. So beyond all the miserable customer service and adventures in food prep, the store was filthy. Crap all over the floors, a funk in the air. There was a girl sweeping up, but I'm not sure she had ever used a broom before; she was basically just flipping floor debris up into the air and letting it land where it may. We are pretty sure you "5 Guys" know how good you are but for those out there who don't know---They Are Good! We just had two of their double burgers "all the way" which means with everything on them! One thing about their menu, I couldn't find what was ON the burgers but once I got them I discovered the usual tomato, lettuce, pickle and mayonnaise; and in addition mushrooms! Tons of topping options for the burger so You can really customize just like you want. Last night was my first time using Grub Hub, and first time eating from 5 Guys. I ordered online, through GrubHub, received a confirmation email appx 841 PM Food arrived at appx 9:02There was no delivery charge which was great. The delivery guy followed my instructions, sent a text upon arrival; he was friendly and drove a quiet car, with no blaring music.  I ordered THREE Bacon BurgersA MED FRYand a 20 Ounce Sprite   The tab was $42 something Con of grub hub- it auto adds a tip, you have to remember to change it if you wanted to tip less. Pricey in my opinion.   The food..    well the burgers were dry.  Like they were the last of the night, sitting out and steamed prior to departure. I even ordered Mayonaise on mine and dosed in Ketchup, still dry.    Te fries... looked like they would be great, fresh out of the fryer..  but they weren't,   they were rather soggy. Overall I think the price for the food was high for what it was, and grub hub... FREE anyway is a good value. read more

We have eaten at a lot of Five Guys in different areas from New England down to Florida and this location is very disappointing. I realize the Haverhill location just recently opened up but, the cashier did not enter the order correctly, the French fries were super greasey/soggy, not crisp at all, there was no ketchup in the dispenser, there were atleast 10 employees and only 3 customer but it still took 30 minutes to get my order. On top of that, employees had their girlfriends in the dining room who kept coming up to talk to their boyfriends. If there was a manager on duty he/she sure wasn't on top of things. Very disappointing experience. Hope they get their act together. read more

We were excited to try Five Guys, and we were not disappointed. Large portions, fresh toppings, delicious burgers - this is as good as it gets. My whole family walked away incredibly satisfied. This place was an absolute joke. When we arrived there was only one other lady in the place as a customer. We waited over 25 mins for a little burger and a regular burger. My husband while waiting decided he wanted to add fries. When he went back up to order the lady walked away and kept him standing there... no acknowledgement what's so ever. My husband stood and waited patiently and finally after waiting for an additional 5 mins after the girl walked away he walked back to our table. Her friend comes walking in... the girl immediately walks over and takes her friends order. 23 mins for 2 burgers and only 4 customers in there... a bit ridiculous. When she called our number finally, I asked how long it would take to add a fry and she laughed and said you will have to wait. We are short staffed. What a joke! Don't see what all the hype is about. Milkshakes and Burgers are good, but too overpriced. The fries are too soggy and need more flavor, and both times were served a bit cold. But I like the idea of building your own burger. Not saying I won't go back, but in all honesty I would prefer McDonalds or Wendy's. read more

Went to five guys in Haverhill 5/28/18 At 8:30 today. Couldn't find a clean table!! Floor looked like it had'nt been swept all day! Went to ladies room and the mirror looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week, paper all over the floor, totally disgusting! There were only a few customers and there were at least 5 workers but no one cleaning up! My husband went to men's room and there was no running water for the sink!! We have been to five guys in Derry several times and it was always clean and well maintained. Very disappointed in Haverhill especially since it's a new store. read more

We were anxious to try it as we heard good things about 5 guys. We went at lunch time and there were few people. The music was so loud I couldn't hear what the person taking the order was saying. Placed an order and couldn't believe how expensive they were, tables weren't cleaned. Got our food and had to listen to the workers laughing hysterically as though no one was in the store. I still don't understand the big deal about this place, the burgers were the same as any other fast food place, the fries were lousy, my milkshake was made in about five seconds and not completely mixed up. This is the first time I've been here and the service, burgers, and fries were so good I had to come back the next day. I ordered online both times. Each time I was greated immediately and was out the door in less than 5 minutes during rush hour. Have tried the 5 guys at the Stoneham/Reading location a couple of years ago, recently tried this Haverhill location closer to me. Where are/were the peanuts? Had the cheeseburger with bbq sauce, jalapeno, mushrooms and the medium fries. Firstly, let me say the quantities for the price are very modest. The fries were just ok, not great and not meriting the price or rave reviews. The cheese burger was on the cusp of being very good, but not great. The size was very modest for a $7.80 sandwich. I do like some of the customized add ons and sauces.The grille staff seemed a bit confused on the sequence of orders, but no biggie. If I get the hankering for a burger again will go elsewhere or grill my own grass fed beef burger. I'd just go there if I was on the run for something semi quick. Had the burger been more properly substantial, I may have given a reluctant 4 star by the skin of their teeth. Fry quality, portion size and price of meal( $11 somethin') brought the rating down. Seems to be SOMETHING about the North Haverhill into Plaistow areas that we can't get the best quality food from otherwise reputable franchises, as well as non franchise restaurants, with few exceptions. BTW, have heard some people swear by In and Out. Are any around this area? I believe apart from making your own, you can get a great burger at many small restaurants and bars that would be superior. My own home cooked grass fed are still the best I've eaten though. read more
