Fries were mediocre, nothing special, but have had worse. The onion rings were very good, not sure what they did differently but they stood out and I'd defiantly get them again. The dilly burger, which is similar to the Galley Boy to people that are more familiar with Swenson's was good, not great. In my opinion it is better than the Galley Boy but I am not a big fan of how sweet everything tastes at Swenson's. Overall I'll probably be back for some onion rings and a regular burger. Definitely need to try the root beer float as well. Had meant to order it, but had forgot. For the price, I'd give it 3.5 stars.

In the past several years, ownership has changed hands 3-4 times and they've gotten further from what made them so good each time. I visited today and it will be my last attempt. There are several things you can do to ruin a great burger and they seem intent on checking all of the boxes. Weird, grainy and overly sweet "house made" ketchup: Check Oversized bun that is dense and almost stale? Check Horrible locally made pickles? Check Hopping on board with the weird trend of putting some of the condiments on the top bun and some on the bottom bun? Check I could go on, but nothing about the food at this place resembles anything they served during the glory days that allowed them to stay in business for multiple decades. Some people don't understand the concept of "If it ain't broke..". Too many Food Network style ideas with very poor execution. As soon as I saw the word "confit" in the description of today's special burger, I should have turned around and left.

Fries were good and I ate them with malt vinegar. It's an old diner style, very cute and historic. They have amazing bottled soda. We tried the black cherry, root beer and cream soda. I don't like cream soda but my friend who does said it was really good. Both root beer and black cherry were great. The lady working was sweet and told us about some of the history of the place. She was fun to talk to and nice. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is I left hungry and spent $16 on a burger, fries and a bottle of soda.

Their fries are crinkle cut and a little bland but the onion rings have a nice crunch to them. The new teezers were good I was not a fan of the pizza roll things. I admittedly do not remember what they were called. Their burgers are pretty good and the reason we came, probably my favorite of the drive in locations around Akron. The lady who helped us sold us a gallon instead of 3 large which resulted in more rootbeer and less money which was very nice of her and I've never had a place do something like that. I like to stop in every once in a while but always forget to leave my review.

Since it was smashed it was crispy in the edges with little to no juicy meat but that is what I expected. Actually, I've never had a smash burger (two patties) before. The burger was made as described in the menu. I wish there was more ranch sauce in the burger because I could barely taste it. The bun did an excellent job holding everything together. The taste of the bun, burger, etc was amazing. The tots had a crunchy outside and soft inside--perfect. The service was fantastic. I loved the atmosphere. The dining area to the left of the entrance is where we sat. There were two 55" (?) tvs but no sound. The seated was varied with table and booth seating in the dining area were we sat. They could accommodate for a 10 person party or party of two. A must try if you love burgers.
