Originally introduced to Five Burgers a few years ago with Delilah and Uhura, I knew what to expect. This is the new location in Canyon Park (that was previously a Hollywood Video) My firstborn got his first paycheck from his first job today, and took his mama out to lunch. (insert: awwwwwwwwwww!!s here) They were PACKED at the lunch hour. They are clearly the new favorite spot in town for many of the nearby business park folks. Despite how busy they were, service was quick and nothing erroneous with our orders or anything we didn't expect. They are popular, they are likely a "fad", and if you are the "compare it to some mythical memory of the (insert other chain located in your hometown and/or just not in Washington) burgers you love, you run a bigger risk than the average Joe of being disappointed. coming from hawai'i, i have never ever had Five Guys! i finally got to pop my 5 guys cherry lol and it was pretty good. the cashier was super friendly. after ordering a cheeseburger deluxe, he then goes "all the way?" i was so confused lol. i had no idea how to order since apparently you also order what goes inside your burger. he then had to explain the black ingredients are your automatic items, unless you specify taking something out. all ingredients in black is referred to as "all the way." and then the red ingredients were your additional items you could add free of charge. feeling overwhelmed and not so risky, i just kept the burger "all the way." and of course you can't have a burger without fries? knowing i was going to be sharing with my sisters, i ordered the large size. because their burgers are more gourmet style burgers, the wait is a little bit longer than other burger chain restaurants. but i have to say, the food is delicious! the burgers are juicy and tasty, and their fries are probably one of the best fries i ever had. my takeout bag had 3 cheeseburgers and a large fries and oh man, da buggah was heavy! they totally hooked us up with the fries :) why the 4 stars? well, i was a little taken back by the prices. thinking it was a burger fast food place, i was thinking it would be about $3-$5 tops. and second, my cousin is more of a chicken sandwich person. their sandwich menu is very limited and only have 4 items (veggie, cheese veggie, grilled cheese, BLT)...no chicken sandwich. but overall, i would probably come back since both the food and service were good read more

I personally really like the cajun fries which run about 3$ and they can feed two adults. Plus after they filled up the big cup with fries, when I opened my "go-to" bag there was at least 2 more handfuls of fries in there! No skimping going on here! Good greasy burgers, great french fries from local farms. A bit more expensive than your average fast food but much better quality. Went on opening day and they were pretty slammed but my food came out in a reasonable amount of time. They got my order wrong by including tomatoes when I never asked for them - the girl that took my order got it right as it was showing correctly on my receipt. Anyways, a small mistake like that is forgivable on the first day when they're so busy. This is my 2nd visit to a Five Guys, and I'm still not "wow'd" as some people. I liked the free peanuts while I waited. I liked the cool drink machine. I even liked the loud music....I liked the mix of music. The beef patty overall was tasty meat by itself, but it's a tiny bit of beef. No wonder they ask you "how many patty's do you want?" BUT....canned "grilled" mushrooms......YUCK! Mushy bread for a bun, and over salted under cooked fries......NOT good. My wife and I love their lil' burgers and fries. The burgers may not be the best in the country, but they are good enough for the prices. We went to this new location on the day they opened, and the place was totally packed. The staffers were very friendly (as usual). Their new, computerised soda machines are easy to use and offer a lot more varieties than the old manual soda fountains. We are definitely going back there very soon. read more

I'd be interested to see where FGBaF goes, in the future, with adding things on a cheeseburger. Personally, I'd really like to try a cheeseburger with some kind of sour cream or ranch. The fries, while not from a ranch, were hot, salted enough, and LARGE. You're going to get a lot of fries if you get a large. You're also going to be eating in a clean restaurant. :) I think the price ($11.80, with tax) is a little too high. I'd say $7.50 or even $8.00 is more reasonable. read more

Hooray, the north end of Seattle gets a Fire Guys Burgers and Fries I was told similar to an In-and-Out so the bar in my mind was high. I actually don't think it is a fair comparison, I think they are very different in what you get served. The concept of fresh everything, including fresh cut fries is very similar, but they do things very differently. The "small" burger is about 1/4 of a pound and is referred to as little, the double patty burger is the "regular" and close to 1/2 a pound. You have a near endless list of free toppings. This I like. Cheese and bacon are extra but other toppings that most charge for like grilled mushrooms and onions are free. You can go with any combination you want. I got a "little" with tomato, lettuce, fresh onion, pickles, jalapenos, mustard and ketchup. Also order a regular fry and then got a hot dog, with mustard, relish, onion and ketchup. Oh, the drinks. Man, this is the second place on the north end that has these magical Coca-Cola machines. You can get just about anything Coca-Cola makes from this machine in endless flavors. I had a Sprite Zero with raspberry. Try and find that somewhere else out of the fountain! Never even noticed the peanuts I could have gnawed on while waiting. The burger I would say was "just right" for me. The meat was a touch pink on the inside, but that is the way I like it - I think others would have complained. The toppings were fresh, including the jalapeno (not pickled out of the jar) and it had a strong flavor. The bun was just "OK" and probably the biggest disappointment of the whole burger. The hot dog is quite possibly the best value there. It is HUGE. I couldn't believe how big it was. It has been split and grilled and was cooked to perfection. The flavor was excellent, definitely all beef, nicely seasoned, maybe a touch too much salt. Again, the only disappointment was the roll. It was just OK. The fries were cut to order - a "regular" fry could easily be shared with two people, never mind the hot dog I didn't come close to finishing, neither could I finish the fries. They are on the softer side, if you like "crunchy" I would ask for well done. The skins are included. I really didn't find this to be like In-and-Out - definitely different flavor, style, and prep. Always looking for a good burger, often disappointed, never satisfied, mi madre and I decided to try Five Guys when I made a trip north to visit her. I'd heard good things and was looking forward to the trip. I was not disappointed. First, the cheeseburger. In an age where chains are cutting their burgers into tiny patties of mystery meat with the shelf-life of a light year (Yes, I know it's a unit of distance), Five Guys burger was two thick patties. I'll admit to being hurt vis a vie quality burgers, so I was pleasantly surprised. The burger came with a list of toppings, both obvious and specialty. This is where Five Guys shines. I ordered it "all the way" because I'm a believer in trying things the way the chef intended but was already plotting my next burger. Quite Good. Next, comes the fries. Thanks to an in-line tip from the guy behind us, Mom and I split a single regular serving of fries. Tip guy did us a solid, as we pulled out a full cup of fries and after we were done with those we refilled the cup with the remains from the bag. Nice! We got the fries Cajun style which was, admittedly, a mistake. I didn't love the flavor (Though my mom did) and thought the fries weren't spicy enough to please my Mexican taste buds(Mom as the descendant of Teutonic stock thought the fries were too spicy. Heh. German chicks). I did love the fries under the seasoning mix, which were crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. So good. Finally, there was the soda fountain. Oh, soda. How I love you. You will never see me review a bar or cigar shop as I neither drink nor chew (or run with girls who do. . .but that's another story). Yet, I will still die at 45 because of my man love for carbonation and artificial sweetener. And Five Guys hooked me up. Most places I'm just thrilled to find a Diet drink that doesn't have caffeine. I love In-N-Out Burgers. Five Guys looked to be the same kind of thing, and with a similar reputation: Fresh ingredients, healthily-cooked burgers and fries, and a vibrant, crowded atmosphere. Five Guys opened just a week or so ago near our house, and we popped in to try it. We walked in to a 10 person long line, a crowded dining area, and loud music, I think from some radio station, because there were commercials. We had to almost yell to hear each other. To prove to you that the ingredients are fresh, enormous stacks of potato-bags greet you at the entrance to the store. They even have today's date on them. Once we made it up to the counter, the burgers are $5.10 plus tax (a couple bucks more than I was expecting), and the fries were about $3. Eleven people in red shirts were working behind the counter, taking orders, cooking patties and fries, bagging the products, and shouting to each other. Whatever they're paying these poor folks, it isn't enough. It looked hot, crowded, and hectic behind the counter. A guy with a bandage on his arm kept reaching his gloved hand and bare arm all the way into the bags to open them up so food could be placed in them. Out in the dining area, two employees prowl for people getting up and leaving. They pounce on the newly vacated table and clean it to make room for new customers. We received an order number and grabbed a table. There were only a couple open tables. A lovely 450 lb developmentally-disabled gentleman sat beside us at the table without saying a word, apparently waiting for his meal as well. We gave him some space by moving to a nearby empty table. A group of about 15-20 customers were standing around waiting for their orders. A box full of ballpark-type peanuts sits open in the middle of the store for anyone who gets the munchies while waiting. If you order a soda, you get to use a touch screen display at the machine to select your drink. Our order number was called out after 19 minutes. As to the food, it tasted excellent. The burger patty was delicious, and the fries tasted fresh and potato-y. I got a cup overflowing with french fries for my $3, far more than I was expecting. That said, the burger was tiny. I then noticed other people eating burgers made of two-patties, though two-patty burgers weren't on the menu. I was told that a regular hamburger, which I had ordered and been charged for, was supposed to have two patties. I ordered a regular, but was given a small. To be fair to the employees, their order tracking system seems to consist of a printer in the cooking area printing out copies of the receipts from the cashier area, plus a lot of shouting. No computers screens. Not very efficient. In summary: The bad: The place was too loud, the burger was overpriced and too small, they got my order wrong, and it took way, way too long to get me my food. The good: Fries were some of the best I've had and were a good value, the burger was tasty, and the free peanuts while you wait were a nice touch. Maybe in a few months when the hype dies down they'll lower their prices and get a little more efficient. Until then, I think I'm going to steer clear. read more

I had Five Guys when I was living in NY and thought it was OK. Had Five Guys here and still think it's OK. First time I went in NY was because we went to a beach and that was pretty much the only option, second time I went was because my co-workers wanted to go. Not really sure what the fuss is all about, same thing with Red Mill. They are just OK. I mean they are definitely better and healthier alternatives to McDonald's but the taste of their burgers do not blow me away. Tried their Cajun Fries and didn't really like them. Wouldn't recommend ordering them. My boyfriend doesn't eat beef so there aren't many options for non beef or meat eaters. He ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and that wasn't great either. Been here twice and two different locations. The first time I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and was pretty disappointed that the bacon was not in strips but crumbled....so it mostly fell off the burger. Flavor was pretty good, nothing spectacular. Fries at least seem like they are made from real potatoes but again, nothing to write home about. Last night I had a hamburger with lots of toppings...grilled onions included. Just like the bacon, the onions are chopped and don't stay on the burger very well. Why do the toppings need to be in bits? The burger and fries were fair...filling. I do think for a semi-fast food burger joint it's too expensive. The regular burger with no cheese or bacon is over $5....regular fries $3. I didn't order a soda and my bill was nearly $9 including tax. Order a bacon cheeseburger, fries and soda and you have a $12 meal! A similar meal at say In & Out Burger would be $5 LESS....and it tastes better. I will say that the regular fries can accommodate 2 "regular" size adults...so that could help your bill. Pretty good burger for a fast food place. It's not as good as a sit-down restaurant burger or even a Red Robin burger with their huge patties. But it's not in that price range either. It's closer to fast food prices but much better than Fatburger. I had a regular burger (which has 2 patties) and my husband had the regular cheeseburger (2 patties with cheese). The price of the burger comes with any toppings (veggies, sauteed onions and mushrooms, etc.) which is a big plus. So we both got "Everything" on our burgers. The meat tasted fresh and made of real meat... not fillers. The fries (although softer than I prefer) had a great flavor. They actually takes like Potatoes! So, although they aren't that crunchy texture like you get a McD's, we could tell they are much fresher than most fries we've had. Right out of the gate: I love Five Guys! For the most part, their product is consistent location to location. About a month ago, I went to pick up dinner real quick, but having been here before, I should've anticipated it wouldn't be all that speedy after all. I received a nice greeting as I came in and the fellow at the register was very nice. There was only one family in the restaurant and they were already eating. So I think, "well, it should be fairly quick, no other orders are in front of me." I shouldn't have been so optimistic. I ordered a little bacon cheeseburger and Little Cajun fry. They were also working on an order from online. My burger was done in about 5 minutes and sat in a bag next to the fry station. I watched as two guys by the grill top write their name on the flat top with slices of cheese... 5 minutes passed.. then another 5, while they goofed off. Then the guy manning the fry station realized my order needed fries. So then he dropped fries. In all I waited about 20-25 minutes for my food and there weren't any other customers' orders in front of mine - except the online one. It was disappointing that I could not distinguish any sort of leader or manager from among them. So I don't know where that manager was. I hope not among them. I worked in fast food as a teenager for 3 years, so I get it, ok. But when you have ONE guest in your lobby, make their food fast so they can go and you can goof around a little. Work should be fun after all. But not really cool when it's at the expense of your clients and owner - wasting product isn't cool either. Any-who. I wish I could say this is an isolated incident here. But there does always seem to be more goofing around and chatting back there than other five guys I've been to. One five guys I used to frequent up north, they were having fun, but working as a team and staying engaged as a team in what they were doing, just adding a fun spin to it... and as a customer, it kind of drew me in and brightened my day. It was clear, in that group, who was the manager, and the employees were dancing to the music and seemed to be having fun, all while focusing on the work. They couldn't help but smile at the customers. And the customers were really happy. I'll be real - I live close by, and the food is still yummy. So I'll keep coming. Everyone is leaving this place iffy reviews, but we went for the first time today and they were great. Admittedly went at 7 on a Thursday and dealt with no rush whatsoever, so it was obvious they took their time with us, because no errors with our orders and everything came out hot and fresh. Yes, expensive ($34 for two people... can't even imagine how much it would cost for a family) but as a treat every once and a while they're totally worth it. Love it! I went here with my kids. They loved the peanuts - my little guy loved them so much that when I went to get extra napkins, I came back to find him trying to eat a peanut with the shell on. I loved loved the fries. They are the best fries I have ever had. I may go back just for the fries. Unfortunately, the hamburger was not tasty at all. I work close by and when they opened it was like a circus in there parking lot; So I had to try it. I ordered to go through the iPhone app they have. It was quick and simple; there app is one of the best for to go foods I have seen. Check it out! I love it when a place keeps up with technology. Onto The Food now..... The burger was good; it taste like a good old fashion burger that you would have got from the local drive in; back in the day. The choices for toppings are pretty good to; more than most places. It lived up to my expectations unlike Dicks Drive In. I think the best part of my meal was the fries. I liked the Cajun style and the regular fries but personally I will order the Cajun mostly because I like a kick of spice. My wife says the regular fries are way better but she doesn't like anything hot. Only complaint is that for just one full meal for me it cost basically $10 + tax; they have no value meals because everything is ordered as single items. Quite a few bad things going on here. First of all I walk in for lunch and the music is just blasting. I meant to the point you can't here what the person standing in front of you is saying and certainly can't here the woman trying to call out your order number. Secondly the place isn't packed but it still takes a while to get your order. I mean like 15 minutes or so. During lunch this could be like 30% or more of your lunch time juts waiting for food. I have been to other Five Guys and they aren't this slow.. did I mention how loud the music was. Finally let's talk about price point. If you get a regular cheeseburger, regular fries and drink you are walking out of here for around $15. I know you get what you pay for, but it's fast fresh. That is a lot for what it is. So to recap you have a long wait, loud music and going to be paying around $15. For that price what am I getting here that I couldn't just get by going to a restaurant. Sometimes you just want a darn good burger, you know?! For me, 5 Guys is the spot for that. I usually order the Little Bacon Cheeseburger (with BBQ sauce, grilled onions and 'shrooms, etc.) with "small" Cajun fry (in quotes because they add an extra scoop of fries on top of the fries). I'm a big guy and it fills me up. Especially if I munch on the free peanuts beforehand. Always a great atmosphere with a friendly crew. I love to order online because when I walk in and tell them I ordered that way, they yell "Nathan's here!" I just don't get all the hub-bub. People I know rave about Five Guys and I am just meh about it. I don't think the amount of fries you get is cool, I think it's obscene, especially when the bag gets totally grease soaked. The burgers are just mediocre, nothing special. There is nothing special about the atmosphere of and taste of Five Guys. I do not like how bright it is, for one, the look is crowded and plain, and the food is yucky. Now, this is just my opinion but I like large burgers with flavor and tons of options. So if you are liek me, and need special options for allergies, then do not come here. Confusing menu and harsh environment. This was my second go at this location and I got a different story about the "All the Way" vs. "Everything". I ordered an everything cheeseburger without tomatoes and an all the way cheeseburger. Seemed simple enough. She tells me, Everything and All the Way are the same thing. I just stared at her. Menu is listed as "EVERYTHING or ALL THE WAY receives only toppings in black." That reads as the following: "only the toppings listed in the black text are considered an "All the Way" burger. Also, they don't even define what an Everything is. You'd think you get every topping, but apparently not. Not a very tasty burger given all the hoopla. Fries were good at first, but more than half were soggy or bready-tasting. Also, no tarter sauce? Really? "...Yeah, you're like the 5th person who's asked for tarter for their fries today." hmmm, you'd think maybe you can get some tarter on the menu. i'll stick with Dicks or Red Mill for the price and lack of flourescent light.
