Today I absolutely indulged, at the absolutely perfect spot for it. I made my way to Five Guys, nursing a Pinot hangover, a wedding cake deadline creeping up on me, and in-need of some serious greasy substance to soak up my woes. Normally its the Burger that calls my name, double stacked smothered in cheese and bacon and everything under the rainbow for fixings... But today I decided to switch it up a tad, and went for the all beef hotdog (with bacon and cheese, mind you). The trick when walking a dog at this joint is ordering it "all the way", which turns this grilled treat into a full on sub meets frank (lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and mushrooms, pickles, mustard, mayo and ketchup). I cant help but order a side of fries whenever I go, even though I have a very odd love/hate relationship with them. The fries are fresh and crisp, but the choice of potato, or maybe the lack of double blanching, leaves them tasting a bit to 'earthy' for me... regardless, they still seem to disappear. I really don't get it. I tried the cheeseburger and fries, and it is okay. I would compare it to Steak and Shake. If you want a nice greasy burger masked by toppings, this is for you. Also like Steak and Shake, all burgers are cooked to the same temp, well done. I appreciate the fact that they cut their own fries and have malt vinegar available to enjoy them with. Something about THIS 5 guys! No really there is something about THIS 5 guys on Caroline Street. The absolute best fries out of ANY five guys. And the CLEANEST...try a A+ 100 rating from the health department.....spotless....not one ounce of toilet paper on the women's bathroom floor...ever. But there is something about the fries. I know everyone likes 5 guys fries blah blah blah. Still, sometimes they can take on that burnt, milk chocolate brown color on the sides or the tips of the potatoes Every once in a while you may find one fry that is lukewarm in a sea of hot fries. This is an update from from my 2011 post: This is probably the only fast food I will still eat. Simply walking past this place makes me want to eat a hamburger. I recently tried the online ordering option when we realized to had to make a run to Lowes to return something and needed to grab dinner quickly. Thankfully Five Guys doesn't cook the fries until you show up to pick up your food so they don't get all cold and lardy. Just a note on the cajun fries: I'm allergic to spicy food, and the cajun fries made me have an allergic reaction. If you have issues eating spicy food, definitely pass on these. read more

This Five Guys location is a part of the Edgewood Retail District. With that being said...there isn't usually too much street parking available, but there's plenty of garage parking fairly close. There are also a few lots close by. Now onto the food. If you're looking for a delicious burger and fresh cut fries...this is a place you'll love. My favorite part is the amount of toppings and sauces you can add to your burger. Note - their Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Bacon Burger and Bacon Cheeseburger all have two patties. This is a large burger. So...if you're only wanting one patty...go for the "Little" version of each sandwich. Just ask delicious. Service is always very friendly and fast. And while you wait...enjoy some peanuts that they have throughout the dining room. Overall...great burgers, great service, great time! read more

After a long day of shopping with my wife in the adjacent target, ross, and barnes and noble, it was about time for us to get a good bite to eat. I've heard lots about 5 guys, so since I remembered one being in this plaza, I figured we'd give it a shot. The first thing I thought when I walked in- "What a rip-off of In-N-Out". Serious. Granted, I'm a CA native, so who says you can't compare this place to In-N-Out? (when you walk into this joint, you'll know what I mean- the red and white checkered patterns) I got the bacon burger, and my wife got the bacon cheese dog. One of the good things about this place is that they are pretty liberal with the toppings they're willing to give you, whether you order a dog or a burger. I opted for the mushrooms and 'fried onions' (which weren't fried really well at all- just choppped and slightly cooked on the outside). The bacon burger: done competently. the bacon was still crisp which is very important. The patties were on the greasy side, and were decently tasty. Nothing blew me away at all. But done okay. The bacon cheese dog was a pleasant surprise. I only had a bite of it, but it seemed like a good combination (along with mushrooms on top). The fries were reminiscent of "boardwalk fries" from both eastern and western seaboards. The peanut oil really made things tasty in regards to the fries- but as good as the fries were- they didn't really impress me. I don't claim to be a french fry snob or anything- perhaps it's my In-N-Out bias coming into play here- but it just wasn't that great. Perhaps overhyped by friends. It's a great place to go if you happen to be in the area doing 4-5 hours of shopping- but I wouldn't go out of my way to get some like I would for In-N-Out whenever I make it back to CA. read more

Not sure what all the hype is about. I like real beef burgers, with some heft, and at least a little pink. Not quite sure how this glorified Burger King became so famous, but it did. I've heard from many people that Five Guys used to be a good place to eat, unfortunately, from a fresh perspective, it is just full of suck now. Their burgers are awesome; what else can be said? The food is made fresh on an assembly line of workers in the kitchen- and it is as good as it sounds from the other reviews. Simple menu- Burgers, Hot dog and/or fries- that's about it. A regular burger is two patties (1/2lb?) and a small burger is a single patty (1/4lb?). Cajun fries are great- and a small is more than enough for two people... These things are popping up everywhere, and the food quality seems consistent- there is one on Piedmont and LaVista and also one out of Mansell Road in Alpharetta. I barely eat fast food but when I got to Atlanta for a business trip, everyone told me that this burger joint is a must try! Even though I was trying to stick to a strict diet, I decided to have a cheat day and see what the fuss was all about. Umm...totally worth it! Five Guys is simply awesome. This location is conveniently located in the Edgewood Plaza, so passing through the area or shopping, it's an awesome stop for a quick bite for lunch or dinner. Kind of between a "fast food" restaurant, and an actual dine in restaurant, this doesn't disappoint. The burgers are absolutely incredible and usually very hot and fresh. They give you unlimited toppings, and they offer a variety of choices that make your burger incredibly customized and memorable. The fries are amazing as well, being freshly cut and cooked, with options for regular or Cajun. (Tip; Cajun are the best; they're seasoned to perfection) They also have a coke freestyle drink machine, and a generously large area inside the restaurant for seating and dining in. The staff can be kind of a hit or miss. At times they're friendly and welcoming, other times they just stare at you or don't say a word, but I guess they get the job done. My only complaint would probably be the prices. Of course for a Five Guys it'll be more expensive than your average burger joint or fast food place, and the burgers are incredible! But I can't help feeling like the value isn't that great . The food is amazing, but the burgers range from 5-8, the fries 3-5, and the drinks around 2-3. So for a meal your going to spend over 10 dollars. Overall, a really awesome burger spot and semi fast food place!! Definitely recommend. I had my first Five Guys experience this evening after having heard a lot about them from friends in Washington D.C. This place definitely lives up to the hype. The menu is very focused; it's simply burgers, hot dogs, and fries with some basic variations and a good selection of toppings. Burgers are cooked to order (all well done) and the fries are cut by hand. A simple formula that Five Guys seems to execute perfectly. One word of warning: the portion sizes can take you by surprise. Five Guys offers burgers and hot dogs in two sizes (regular and "little"), as well as small and large fries. A regular burger has two patties and could potentially overwhelm you if you're not ready to eat a lot. The large order of fries is enough for two people, maybe even three. I tracked the problem to my frequent forays into Five Guys, where the bacon cheeseburger has 190 mgs of cholesterol per serving. Hmm. On the other hand, if you can set aside the imminent threat to your health, the burgers are delicious. And the fries rock too. In fact, given an infinitely expanding stomach, you could probably off yourself in about an hour at that place. In any case, I have forsworn their fare for a month or so, but will only visit them as a rare treat, earned by a month of tilapia and rice, or incessant bowls of tofu. read more

There are a few things I just really love in a restaurant, and Five Guys seems to suit my taste in a lot of ways. First of all, you can see the kitchen perfectly and the (awesome) health inspection reports are clearly displayed. This makes me feel so much more comfortable eating the food...when I know exactly how it has been handled. Second, the service is extremely reliable. Yes I know it is only counter service, but I've never once had anyone be rude or impatient with me here...even when I'm constantly changing my mind about the toppings I want on my little cheeseburger. Third, I love that you pick your toppings exactly, that way there are no surprises. Sure, in fancy sit-down restaurants I'll let the chef do his/her magic on my place. When I'm tired as hell or hungover and looking for a greasy fix, I want to know exactly what's going in my food. Fourth, and I know I may be alone on this, I like that you order your burger separate from the fries. I am not a big fries fan, and it seems like every burger has obligatory fries sitting right beside it. I think it's nice to be able to order them separately, or in my case, not usually order them at all. The only reason this place doesn't reach 5 stars in my book is the amount of grease. It may be a little over the top for some people. Although satisfying, I do worry about the massive harm I'm causing to my arteries before taking that first, delicious bite. read more

Oh my gosh! I love this place. Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries serves cooked to order fast food that tastes so fresh and very very good. The specialty is burgers, hot dogs and fries. Somehow I feel like I'm eating healthier fast food whenever I go. The burgers are 100% ground beef meat that is fresh and never frozen. The fries are hand cut and cooked in 100% peanut oil that doesn't contain cholesterol. My favorite meal is a little hamburger with a regular sized fries. It's just deliciously scrumptious and appetizing plus the customer service is the best I've ever had at a fast food restaurant! So I finally got to try a burger here! I ordered the "Little Burger" and small fries to go. The "little burger" is about the size of a Wendy's single...if this is small, I'd never get through a big burger! There is a plethora of toppings to choose from...all free. Everything from basic ketchup, mayo and mustard to grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and fresh jalapenos. By the time I got finished dressing my selection, I couldn't find the burger! Seriously! The toppings were taller than the meat. The burger itself was okay...nothing special I was disappointed in the fries this time though. They must've had the fryer temperature higher than normal; the fries were crisp and hot on the outside, and not quite done on the inside. That's the only reason they survived the ride home! Here's a tip: if you get your order to go, they "top off" your fries by dumping an extra scoopful into your bag. I got full just on the overflow fries, much less the order I paid for! read more

The one star is for service. I feel sorry for the owner of this restaurant...the food costs have got to be way off. I placed an order online for 13 sandwiches and was told when I went to pick up they just gave my order to the Uber driver by accident. The manager comes out and they tell her, she asks who did it and they all laugh. I finally get my order to my client and I have 2 extra burgers and an missing a veggie sandwich. Clearly mismanaged. Sad- I'll drive to another location for better service. There was another Uber eats driving complaining about the horrible service. As competition between fast-food establishments intensified, a new contender hit the streets of Atlanta: Five Guys. For fans of fast-food, it's an interesting alternative to the usual fare. It has a very limited menu and a few affectations meant to make customers say "hey, here's a place with a personality." I think that part smacks of artifice, but they do make a great burger. The employees are cool people, which goes a long way in my book. Each time I visited the restaurant was clean, and the that crisping smell of fries wafted from the open kitchen. More on the fries later. The key to enjoying this burger joint is to be clear about your expectations beforehand. All food is served as though it is to go, in a paper sack that quickly becomes translucent from grease -- at least, if you're ordering fries. If you crave a large menu, then save Five Guys for another time. They basically serve variations on three things: burgers, hot dogs and fries. And (just to throw a bit of style on the whole affair) they also serve complimentary peanuts. So about the fries. As I'm sure other people have noticed, this place always pours an extra scoop of fries into their bags. While I like the idea of this, it's a pain to keep the food in the bag for very long, and I can't finish them all. Verdict: Despite several attempts to cultivate a 'feel' or personality, Five Guys is unremarkable. The food is good, the quality is consistent, but if you're going to propose to your date, or take your mom out, or anything like that, for Pete's sake go somewhere more memorable. read more

My husband and I ordered food at this location and we waited an hour to get our food. We never received the food either. After waiting there for a long time we started to notice that uber orders and call in orders we're walking out the door while we we're still waiting. Then we noticed that people that came in after us were walking out the door with their food and we were still waiting. Two times my husband walked up to the counter with receipt in hand to inquire about our order and we were told that they skipped our order. We were treated so very bad at this location and I really wanted to give it a try. The manager there was very unprofessional and could care less that we never received our food. We did get a refund after waiting an hour but we still walked away hungry and disappointed at how are were overlooked and treated. read more

I love Five Guys! It's a little pricey but the food is always exactly what you need it to be. I particularly like the cajun fries. I'm so happy they've added a small/little fry option because you get a lot. The burgers are ordered by the patty and you can fix them up with several toppings. The bun is soft and flavorful as well. If you're a peanut lover, you can scoop you some as you wait. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and it's a good spot to people watch. The customer service is not always great but overall good for the most part. Parking can be annoying but you have several options: street, lot, garage. This place is trash. They always gets my order wrong. I just got home from ordering a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, and lettuce. NO CHEESE, on a bacon cheese burger. Nor did it have ketchup on it. The lady even asked me to confirm my order on the screen but everyone behind the counter is so busy talking to each other I doubt anyone was actually paying attention to exactly what was on each ticket. read more

Went to lunch today with a co-worker and having to suffer through a trip to Party City AND Target (in the North Point Mall area), we decided to run into Five Guys for lunch. Fortunately, she had been there before and suggested to order the "Little" burger and boy was she right! We split an order of the cajun fries which was also a good idea. There was just such an abundance of food for so little money! And talk about GOOD! Wow! They even offer peanuts, in the shell, to nibble on while you wait. I didn't see anyone tossing their shells on the floor but this ain't Longhorn, eh?! Also, unlike Fuddrucker's where you have to wait for a while on your food, you can be in/out of Five Guys in less than 30 minutes even if you're taking your time eating!!
