Bealls Department Store - Menswear

Bealls Department Store

St. Augustine store staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They are always helpful and personable…read more Restrooms are just right and mobility accessible. The selection of men's tropical shirts is really great, often bargains on clearance. Womens name-brand clothing is FL heat friendly. In the home section we discovered coastal-themed accessories for kitchen, patio, and dining. Clearance Tervis cups are perfect for my decor and never drip condensation! the value.

So, I think the biggest blemish on this store is the check-out staff, and I hate having to call…read morethat out, but it's true. Walking in, the store is clean and well organized (kind of hard to find the Plus Size section, but frankly, that's pretty normal... they always hide us in the back). Departments were marked well, with ample signage, and sales were well advertised. Racks were clean and straight, there wasn't any mess in the walkways or overflowing tables of tee-shirts. It was a relaxing, stress-free, shopping experience. Even on an early Saturday morning, this store was not busy at all, which I prefer. Clothing definitely skews toward "Ladies Who Lunch in Florida," - you won't find anything super-trendy that your teenager would wear. This is for stylish mature women who live in FL and need to look amazing, put together, and cool, all at the same time. Clothing fabrications reflect those needs, too, with light and airy options that won't make us sweat (I shopped in April). Fitting rooms were nicely-sized, with a solid door (not a curtain), and a chair. One gripe... there were only two hooks for clothes (I like to have hooks for "Try On," "Buy," and "Put Back" options). Within the fitting room, but outside the individual stalls, was a three-way mirror so you could get a really good look at your outfit to make sure you'll look good coming AND going! As I said at the beginning, the check-out staff was what really dropped the quality of my experience. There was no employee at one counter, so I went to the other one, where there was one lady doing a return, and doing it *very* slowly... It took her probably 5 minutes to complete it AFTER I'd already gotten there, so who really knew how long it took from start to finish! I think it took 15 minutes for me to check out with my two simple items. However, even though she was slow, the cashier was extremely friendly, so a point in her favor! I like this location, and I like the clothing sold in this store, so I guess I just have to decide if the long wait to pay is worth the affordable stylish clothing?

Ponce De Leon Mall - The front of the mall. With more cars than I've seen here in a while.

I'm actually amazed that this mall still exists. I remember as a teen in the early 90's, this was…read moreTHE only hangout in town. I had a lot of great memories of buying candy at the dollar store, watching a movie, getting a slice of pizza, then blowing all my quarters at the arcade. The only stores that remain from that era at this mall are the JCPenney and Belk. Every other location has held restaurants, shops, stores, whatever you can think of, and come and gone. It has gotten better in recent years, however, as I can remember when there were literally 4 stores in the entire mall. Belk and Penney's are still anchors, but there's a nice flower shop, a hallmark store, and a Sears which have been there for a while. A church has taken over the area that used to be the movie theaters, and they seem to be doing really well- a LOT of cars pack that place on Sundays. I also noticed a sewing shop and GNC, so it's nice to see they're getting some tenants. Still a LONG way from the glory days of this mall, but they're hanging in there. Although it's clean, well-maintained, has some nice stores, and plenty of parking, I can't recommend this mall for a shopping excursion. Would definitely drive to Jax or Daytona for true mall shopping, but if you need something in a pinch, try the department stores here.

This is a good mall, although not much in there anymore. Since the theatres closed (even the Gator…read moreNole shop moved), it's mostly just nice to walk around in for a while unless you want to shop at Sears (recently took over Rex) or JCPenney or Belk. There's a hallmark and gnc there too. Blockbuster is actually in front of the mall, not actually inside. Decent mall but you won't find much here
