I was not…read morefamiliar with the store itself, but I not only became familiar, but I became a regular customer of certain things since it opened. I had to let my latest visit "cool" before writing an updated review and get my mind right. Recently (on 6 Apr), I visited the store to pick up a few things for Easter. Upon entry, I was shocked/impressed with the changes, so I took a picture for Yelp at the entrance. I took a few other pictures as well to share since they have undergone some changes like the refrigerator and the housewares areas. An employee, who failed to introduce herself, came at me speaking loudly accusing me of taking a picture of the registers while talking on the phone to someone. I didn't; I got out my phone and showed this female employee the photos and stated I do reviews and was going to post them as being a great change, etc. She repeated what I said to the person on the phone and told them she looked at the photos (odd). She backed down and told me I was ok...but not before obviously drawing attention to me--embarrassing me with no apology. She did explain, "for security reasons........." I get that. Dollar General people...how about asking a customer kindly instead of what took place? It was uncalled for and unacceptable behavior in my opinion. I wish, I wish, I wish I would have dropped the things I was going to purchase and just left. But no, sadly, it happened so quickly I couldn't think straight. I was caught off guard by this rudeness and even found myself shaking a bit. I made the purchase, allowing me to get a survey code though and I shared the experience. No customer should be made to feel the way I did that day. I wasn't doing anything wrong and only planned to help. Now, instead of updating my 5-star review, it became a 1-star review. Right or wrong, kindness goes a long way...doesn't it? Needless to say, there certainly is no need to share pictures of the changes to help them. I don't want to be responsible for a picture of mine drawing anyone there. I won't say I'll never go back to this store, but it gives me great pause and I can no longer recommend it (not this location that is). There is a lot of building going on in this area with more choices than just this store. As a matter of fact, if you need a Dollar General there is a new one down Nine Mile Road (not to mention it's big). I took pictures in there when they first opened and they thanked me since it helps business and were appreciative. Big differences between employees at these two locations, so go to the one on Nine Mile Road if you need a Dollar General. Moreover, there is a Dollar Tree going in near Palencia as well.

A ton of them are there with very clear signage about what's included. She says no and starts to get irritated. Husband goes and takes picture to show her. She is more irritated now and says "no" while she begrudgingly makes the proper corrections after my husband reads out the signage description which clearly includes what we selected. Absolutely ridiculous behavior from the cashier. She ordered us to go get a "buggy" to carry them out. We said we are fine carrying them. They are stackable and it wasn't a lot. She huffs and go over and gets a carriage and puts them in anyway. So bizarre and unnecessary. I said we didn't need to buy them at all and it was fine but they should fix all the signage for the next person. Super rude. Somebody shouldn't be working in retail.

I found a number of things there, including a ceramic statue, which I brought home to Washington DC. Every day when I look at that funny little statue, I am overjoyed. I recently returned from Saint Augustine, where I spent the entire month of October. I needed some things for my condo, and the first place I went to was Dollar General. I found everything I needed on that first shopping excursion; however, in a couple of days I realized I needed more things. Well, Dollar General was the only place I thought of. During my trip I probably went to Dollar General once or twice a week. I love that store. It is clean and well organized. The clerks are helpful and friendly. She then complains that we were "the 5th people to yell" at you today as you're the only one there and can't man the register the whole time. Pssss.... Can't speak for the previous 4 but NO one raised their voice or said anything remotely negative to you. Get your attitude in check. You're in the service industry after all. I love the staff here, because they remember me when I come in and I feel like it is my neighborhood corner store like those that I grew up with. I'm 53 and I still feel that nostalgic friendliness with a genuine happy heart goes a long way. I can always find everything I need and I have so much fun going through the clearance aisles and special sales. I love the way holidays are decked out to the max and fun gifts and decorations are on point and a bargain. The shelves are organized and the aisle are well lit. The best value of all in my opinion is that I leave knowing that I want to come back again. This is one of my happy places... my pals work here and they always treat me with kindness! I specifically needed individually wrapped candy small enough to fit in Easter eggs. I found several options. My favorite find had Bible verses on each package. I also found some Krabby patties, and a bag with several chocolate options that I would give to my 5th grade girls I teach at church. I also found the cutest Easter cross. I bought two, one for my house and one for a friend. I saw and had to buy two adorable decorative stones to put on my front porch. I purchased five bags of candy, two Easter crosses and two porch decorations for $28. I thought this was a bargain. Thanks Dollar General for keeping your prices reasonable.

Also, prices here are really cheap compared to buying at a Publix, Walgreens, or CVS. Although, there's usually never enough staff at the front of the cash register and sometimes the lines are long (15 minutes wait) due there only being one MAYBE 2 cash registers open. I like getting little tidbits as extras for gift bags that are unique for an additional item(s) to a gift, and Big Lots does not disappoint. I'm also a fan of their garden section. I can get certain things and once the sun or heat destroys things at the end of the summer it's out with the old and in with the new later. Although they have some good finds, I can't recommend going in here unless you want to, and/or don't mind, spending money. The beauty of it is though, you will save money too...I hope that makes sense! The store is easy to find and there is a huge parking lot with more than ample parking. The staff is always friendly.
