Picked up these balloons around 1 pm and they looked droopy. I questioned the person at the balloon station, she called the manager, he didn't seem to really care but they gave me 5 more. Both pictures are the balloons at 4pm same day of pick up. So disappointed as my party stared at 5:30. I will not use Michaels for balloons again. read more

I am a painter and crafter, mostly with fashion jewelry, epoxy resin and print on demand. I buy most of my supplies online in bulk but I do (or at least I did) like going into Michaels just to look around. I tend to walk up and down pretty much every aisle just looking at stuff and maybe get some inspiration. About a month ago I was in the Michaels in St. Augustine and after awhile noticed that one of the employees was following me, from one side of the store to the other, every aisle I went to, a few seconds later and there he was. It made me uncomfortable but I tried not to pay attention to it. Now something I tend to do is pick up items that catch my eye and carry it around the store for awhile and think of things that I might be able to do with it. If I end up not wanting it or want to think about it some more, I'll put it back. So that day I checked out with the things I did want and left. I went back several times after that and then the 3rd or 4th time I went in, I started my normal tour of the store and it wasn't long after I started that I was approached by one of the managers who asked me to leave the store. He said that he had "caught me red handed" taking tags off of items and stealing them. You can imagine my absolute shock as I haven't stolen anything since I stole a candy necklace when I was 8. I had felt so bad about it that I went back to the store to return it. Anyway, knowing that it wasn't possible for him to have caught me red handed doing anything because I hadn't done anything, I asked him if he had seen me take tags off of items, he said no, I asked if the cameras have video'd me taking tags off of items, he said no. I asked if ANYONE had seen me take tags off of items and, again, he said no. Getting completely exasperated by this point I asked him if he even knew what catching someone red handed even meant. He said that he did and I asked then how in the world could you have caught me taking tags off of something but you nor anyone else saw me do that. He said that when I had put an item back it was missing the tag. I almost started laughing then but thought better of it. I asked him what he thought I took tags off of and was stealing and he said several stands of beads in the jewelry section. I asked what made him think I had taken the tags off and he said once I got to the register to pay for my things he and his stalker employee went to the area that I was putting things back and they found some strings of beads that didn't have tags. Heads up, they didn't have tags on them to begin with when I picked them up lol. I thought nothing of it as I figured if I decided to buy them they would know what the price was. So! He accused me of taking tags off jewelry beads and stealing them based, not on irrefutable, eye witness evidence, but on an assumption that I did that because what I put back didn't have a tag on it. And if I was stealing it I wouldn't have put it back! This whole fiasco made no sense to me, 1. if he believed he had caught me "red handed" taking tags off of items and stealing them why wasn't I approached with that then and there that day?!? 2. Why had he not said anything to me the next few times I was in the store and even said hi to him?!? After all of that, with a nice little crowd gathered around pretending they weren't listening to what was going on, I told him I would definitely leave the store and that I will try to let as many people as I possibly could know what happened to me that day. If any of you are like me and carry items around the store, if you plan on putting it back please make sure it has a tag on it! read more

If you think they are pricey, they always have deals and or coupons on everything you need. Its impossible to walk out of there empty handed. There is too many cuteness to go around. The location we ate in was romantic. I highly highly recommend.Celebrating our 30th anniversary we ventured out to Michael's. I made a reservation telling them I wanted a romantic spot because it was our anniversary. The person who took the call actually saved an inside spot and an outdoor spot for us to choose from. Rude Manager Matt, I just left the Michaels Store in Saint Augustine Florida after being so rudely addressed my the store manager Matt. Really unfortunate, and unlike me to complain, I actually left over $300 of merchandise at the check out counter. As an artist I tried to shop local, last month I spent over $1000 or more alone here, but will never return after my experience with the manager there. Under no circumstances should any employee be so flip with a customer no matter who they were. In this case I was purchasing a severely damaged foam board, there were no more in stock, I asked the help in the isle, and painted out the damage, I was hoping they had a new one. The sales help who was very nice told me they would most likely give me half off, as I needed it today I had no choice, I did have several hundred dollars worth of other products in my cart, all of which were full price. when I asked for the discount and the cashier told me they could discount 10% I asked if perhaps the manager could have a look at it since it was so damaged. When Matt arrived I was made to feel indignant for rightly asking for a discount on a obviously severely damaged product, and told "If you don't buy it somebody else will" with of roll of the eyes, and a quick back turned to me. When I tried to engage him he became even more flip. So many floor staff in the store had been so helpful, it's unfortunate that they should be managed by such a rude young man. read more

Yep, I realized I can't have the big city expectations for professionalism. It's a pain when I have to come in and buy Copic markers. I'm a professional artist and I need to match colors...they watch you like a hawk and think you are going to steal. The sales lady was actually holding the marker door lockers closed while I was testing them out. I was made to feel unwelcome as a customer. Update - the employees are super stressed out, and they take it out on their customers. My advice is to skip this location if you can. read more

While I love the products, and shop here sometimes for craft supplies, I was not impressed with the customer service this morning. I arrived right at opening, after having gone to the gym first thing, and then vacuuming out my car -- I got soaked in a surprise rainstorm -- so perhaps I was not looking my best, but I feel I was profiled. When I walked in, I asked the clerk if there was a restroom to use, and she said "they're only for customers." I said, "I am a customer. I just need to use the restroom first." She looked me up and down disdainfully, and then said "The restrooms are only for ACTUAL PAYING CUSTOMERS." Unbelievable. Here I was, hitting the store early, about to spend ACTUAL money, but she gave me a hard time, and made me feel like I was doing something wrong. After using the restroom, I bought my items and left, and I won't be going back. I don't really want to go to Hobby Lobby, because I don't like their fundamental religious ties, but guess what? They don't treat me like the clerk at Michael's did this morning. You just lost a customer. read more

Michaels is a pretty good-sized arts and crafts store located in the Cobblestone Plaza, and although most people prefer shopping at the local Hobby Lobby, you can find almost the same items at this store, usually at a much cheaper price. I ususally get an ad for Michaels in the weekly paper, filled with all kinds of sales, and almost always you will get a coupon for 50% off any one item in the store. If you ever stop in, you will notice virtually EVERYTHING in the store is on sale. Luckily, when I stopped in, I was looking for a frame for a poster I had recently purchased. All frames and framing accessories were 50% off. I didn't have the coupon with me, so I'm not sure if you can double up on those bargains, but I ended up paying 15 bucks for a 30 dollar frame, and I didn't use a coupon or special code! It seems like every week a different area of the store is on sale, so keep checking. There's a decent selection of craft items here, I mainly spent my time in the frame area- which was good sized, not huge, but you can definitely find something you're looking for, both expensive and cheap. My fiancee is planning a lot of our wedding and does a lot of shopping at Michaels, and has picked up a number of items for the reception, invitations, and more. There's quite a selection here all at decent prices, and anyone looking for anything craft related should leave happy. I did notice the other review which stated customer service was not top notch... I actually didn't see any employees walking around when I was in the store, although I wasn't exactly on the lookout, I knew where I was going and what I wanted, so I can't testify to that. Overall, it's a nice store, it was clean, well-stocked, filled with great bargains, and I found what I needed. So maybe I'm still hanging on to my big city expectations... but this is just wrong. Michaels is a national chain, right? Then why would they decide to hire people who don't know what an embosser is and where to find one in their store, which cells embossers? Also, if one was unsure of whether there are embossers in the store, couldn't they look it up on a computer? Like the one in front of them? Finally, if they guarantee that they don't have foil seals because "they'd be in this area"... why can I find them two isles over? My point is, no one there knew much about arts and crafts, or where things were located in their store, or how to calculate a sale price. Hobby Lobby on 312 @ US1 is much better for customer service. But it closes at 8pm. I miss Boston. :( read more
