I popped in to check out Jacksonville's newest art supply store! Bring on the paints, brushes,…read morecanvas and more! They offer framing too. Whether you work in oils, acrylics, watercolor, resins or any and all kinds of drawing- they have a fantastic assortment of it all! There is so much selections of paints! And the aisle of brushes- I may have picked up a pack! I want to hit the loose brushes hard. And I already have a ton of brushes! I went in with the idea of restraint. I have a lot of supplies already at home, but everything is SO tempting!!! Plus I got a grand opening discount~ hey heeeyyyyy!!! The ladies at the register even helped me look up more poorly described brush I have at home! I would love a replacement- but it's quite an unusual brush. They found it on the website! So I am off to explore that now! Happy arting and shopping!

Large selection of fine art supplies (not much there for crafts). If you pay for a membership ($25)…read moreyou get great prices. Inventory is more aimed at painting, illustrating, lots of PAINT! Easels, canvas, excellent pens, framing, brushes, sketchbooks, etc. I was paying 10x more buying paint brushes from Amazon, Michael's, etc. They have the largest inventory of paint and brushes I have ever seen. And I love picking individual brushes. The materials I have purchased are all good quality. The store is bright and very clean, the displays are nice. The staff all appear to be artistic and have a good knowledge of the inventory.

Celino is a Gainesville treasure -- if you're a starving college student, go to SoMa to buy some…read moreart supplies, but if you're not, then go buy one of his pieces (for which he really should charge an awful lot more, so you don't need to be a one percenter or anything like that).

I needed glow-in-the-dark paint to do my art, and a friend told me to go check this place out…read more It is in an old warehouse on South Main st (SoMa) right before the Cade Museum. The owner sells mostly to architecture and art students, but that is not all he has. He is a painter, and post-industrial lamp-maker! "What is that?", you ask. He takes ordinary objects that people see as junk and turns them into the funkiest one-of-a-kind lamps you will ever see! Some of them look like bugs, some look like robots, and some are just ...well... unique! This place is a Gainesville original!!! He makes his lamps from: guitars, microwave glass plates, fixtures, cars parts, brackets, or most anything that has used up its usefulness (post-industrial), and most people want to throw away! Just to see what he comes up with is amazing! When I was there, he was working on a lamp made from an old tuba! Yes! A TUBA!!!! You have to see this place to understand. He has a corner strewn with parts for his lamps. Wmay see junk, but he sees light!! I bought two jars of paint for my art, shook his hand, and said I'd be back to see hiw the tuba comes out! Check out the pics! Update: I went back amd bought a teach-yourself-to-draw book, and now I am drawing for the first time in my life!! Wow!!

Upon entering the store .......I was NOT greeted but asked if I was planning to go into the bead…read moreroom. Really? Duh...... it's a bead shop! I said yes and was told I needed to leave my purse ...... it really does look like a backpack! In a locker provided up front....... my purse/backpack is camel leather color and expensive, very expensive! Please tell me there are stores that do that???? In my life I have never entered one! I was both embarrassed and upset at the same time. I did not have on my jewelry on or even nice clothes but, I was clean, presentable and expectable and kind and friendly....... I guess his stupid butt did not see me drive up in a 24 Durango with a Hemi and custom paint! As I was shopping (frankly the selection was not even mediocre) the more upset I got! So to that end I decided to leave, as I walked up front to leave.....this guy is giving me the evil eye! I was upset I did not even get close to anything. I told him I was leaving and if he wanted to search me before I left...... well we had words becoz I was disrespected according to him......who is the customer? I was not willing to put up with such a rude jack ass!!!! He gets less than 0 stars from me! He is just one of the guys that will not be around in another year!

I've been an avid beader for many years but I gave it up last year. Never the less, when I saw this…read moreshop the beader in me came out again. Make no mistake about it these are NOT your typical craft store beads! These are specialty beads. Some are even high end or special made by well known crafters. The quality of the higher end beads are amazing. Especially the ones that are made by hand - one by one. The skill needed to accomplish this is amazing! Classes! Grab a calendar in their store and take a look at all the classes they offer. They held 20 classes in January so I'm sure there's something that will pique your interest. The store is spacious - actually huge. The walls and tables are all filled with beads. The merchandising is done fabulously. Every table has a different bead theme to entice you. Employees are helpful when they are available. When I was there I walked around for 20 minutes and no one acknowledged me3. Finally it was Mari who was on her break eating that got up and assisted me. Now that's how it's done!
