7/13/24 Upon stopping by this location, the look and feel of the store is very different from how things were a year ago. The cashiers are now gone and you check yourself out. The staff are on the floor stocking and on their personal phones. The staff member we saw at the checkout/machine didn't talk to us and was back on his phone very quickly. The experience of people contact is getting more impersonal. Talking is becoming overrated and many places with the kiosks now installed. The store itself had more grown up things that see more usable, but the cost is no longer going to be five dallors. The biggest thing I saw in this store is the chargers for you're phone(s). A note is taped on the wall saying " if you open the packaging, you will have to buy that package." Evidently, someone opened a package and the message didn't sink in. The shelving has changed giving the place a more closed off feeling. A feeling that says "Go Away." We will see what has changed the next time we visit. read more

A decent store for stocking stuffers. This is where I'll go soon. Actually am grateful for their $5 t shirts. They are amusing, and work for considerable time. Also they have huge tubes of tootsie rolls and other candies. These serve a purpose. Located in Fair City Mall, nice employees working here. It can get busy, but they keep the line moving. Also you can occasionally get a deal on a newer book here. That helps as do some fun gag gifts. It's not for everyone and everything. Yet it has a niche, and I appreciate it for what it is. I called them because the cashier forgot to put an item in my bag, I wanted to see if they had it. They answered the phone and left me hanging there while the employees were laughing and talking. I kept saying "hello???" and I could even hear my own voice, but they never picked up the phone. Stayed in line for 10 minutes. And not to mention that when I did go there, the cashier was on her phone and seemed really annoyed I came in to pay for my stuff, and as soon as I was done, she went back to her phone. Since the beginning of quarantine, I have literally been depositing my paycheck on subscription boxes, puzzles, art supplies, play doh, books, trinkets, and literally anything that will entertain my toddler for more than a few seconds. I recently decided to give my bank account a break by checking out Five Below and was absolutely THRILLED by the selection of art supplies and crafts that I am slowly going to dole out over the next few months. They also had tons of Peppa Pig activity kits, Frozen everything, pool supplies, outdoor games, children's books and so much more! Many of the items I purchased are things that I have purchased at Target for three times the markup. It was very easy to navigate the store, the employees were friendly and wearing masks, and it wasn't too busy, even on a weekend. Thanks for the cheap thrills Five Below! I'm a fan. read more

Apparently the current manager opens the store incredibly late. The doors were locked an hour after they were supposed to be open. Talked with another customer who had been waiting outside for a while and they said this has happened before. Place needs new management if they're going to be repeatedly late to open. read more

Main Street, Fairfax, Va This was one of the WORST experiences of my life!! The customer service was horrible!! DO NOT RECOMMEND. One of the employees, I am assuming she was the manager, was yelling at the customers the entire time I was there. My daughter bounced a ball not aware that was apparently forbidden and the manager literally screamed at her. I politely corrected her and said her tone was out of line and unprofessional. She then told me to leave the store, refused service and called the police. I am totally baffled!!!! Police advised me to contact corporate which was my plan. I came in to purchase 25 Double Bubble dispensers for my classroom but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I have shopped at this location for several years and have never seen it in such disarray. The store appeared disorganized and noticeably unclean. After some searching. I located the gum dispensers, although there were only 24 in stock .When I approached the employee at the counter, who was eating Chipotle with her boyfriend who did not appear to be a store employee to ask if there any additional dispensers she rolled her eyes and responded with a kurt no. Additionally, she directed me to the self checkout which felt dismissive as if I was interrupting her dinner date. At the self check out I inquired if she could scan one more dispenser and enter the quantity for the remaining items she refused, stating I had scan each dispenser individually, which seemed to be due to her unwillingness to assist me. I can only describe her some middle-aged woman with dark hair and dark eyes fluent in Spanish. As I am also fluent in Spanish, I was disheartened to hear her refer to me as a "Karen" and make other unkind remarks in Spanish. read more

I was verbally attacked at this store by the manager. He refused to give me his name or employee number. I entered the store today 2/23/24 @ approximately 7:50pm and was told to "get the" FUCK out of his store" Since it was not yet 8pm. I said to him "I know what I want and it will only take a minute. However this 40 year man yelled at me GET THE FUCKI wish I go OUT MY STORE. I then proceeded to call the police who told me to call the company. As a female entering a store at night this was a terrifying situation. A weekly trip to Five Below is how I get my kid to cooperate with virtual learning. He can pick out anything he wants, which is pretty exciting when you're in elementary school. The store has a great selection of items and is always clean. The people who work there are super friendly, too. My only complaint is that the store seems to be short-staffed. It's kind of like the dollar store but everything (or almost everything) is $5 or below. They have a random assortment of stuff like phone accessories, exercise equipments, books, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm not a big shopper but I checked this place out while my wife was shopping at a nearby store and it killed a little time and I bought a couple things. Worth a look if you're in the area but I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

What a unique store. I really like this store. It is unique and wacky in its own way, think of a dollar tree but with more items you don't need to really buy lol. Best selection of candies are here so if your going by to the nearby movie theater be sure to stock up here. The candies here are great they sell some candy which Walmart and target don't always offer which I love. Shirts and hats are decent here. Bought a hat here that that was $5 and a similar hat I have seen online go for $20. Really happy with that! If your a gamer check out their video games once in a while a ok game might be there for cheap. Or you can always grab a lanyard with your favorite cartoon or video game character or even a nice poster to hang in your room! Overall you can't beat the uniqueness of this store. It's in a crowded shopping center but parking is big enough where you don't have to worry about that. This store is great if your in need of some new cheap toys for on the go or need some basic items like hats, etc. Be sure to check out their clearance section. It's not always great but sometimes if you search deep enough through it you can snag something nice! Service has gotten really better here. So kudos to their staff! I'll be back again for more hats for the crew and plenty of candy! read more

I walked in here thinking it was a dollar store. As it turns out...it is (kind of). The name of the store (Five Below) means all of the merchandise is $5.00 or below $5.00 (pretty clever...eh?). There's lots of different stuff to choose from...like school supplies and room decorations; but, the store seems to devote a huge amount of floor space to fashion accessories and bath and body products. At first, it seemed a bit discouraging (I mean, I'm a man after all); but, then, I stumbled upon these things that appeared to be dried lava rocks or sandpaper blocks called "pumice stones." There were so many different shapes and textures to choose from. Supposedly, you can use them to rub callouses and dead skin from your feet...at least, that's what a nice female shopper told me (as I stood there looking confused). What she explained to me was so helpful! I'd been walking around for months with these dried, flaky pads of skin on the heels of my feet; and, I'd been doing nothing more than using my fingernails to gouge out what I could. Well, not anymore! I bought a pumice stone, of course. I couldn't resist (one that's kind of smooth and not too coarse...and that fit in my hand like a bar of soap). I went home that night and took a long hot shower...allowing the water to pool just a bit so that my feet would get nice and soaked. Then, immediately afterwards, I jumped out of the shower, wiped myself off quickly (neglecting to even put clothes on because I wanted to use the pumice stone right away while the skin on my feet were still moist and pliable -- that's what I was told). And, using the stone was so easy. I just sat down on the edge of my bed, crossed my leg, and began rubbing the stone back and forth against my heel. It was like grating cheese. I just wish I had used something to catch the shavings. Oh, well...live and learn. Anyway, there is such a thing as serendipity. I'm so glad I found Five Below! read more

I'm not sure how I went my entire life not realizing this was a store, especially considering how many of them are around. The short of it up front: this shop has the regular bunch of low-quality goods that low-cost shops are known for, BUT! There are also some serious steals to find in this shop. For example: you can get Vaseline lip balm pots for $1; I purchased a jewelry traveling container that has divided sections for each type/piece of jewelry; they have a great selection of paper goods (e.g., books, gift wrap/ping, etc); I even bought mermaid tights, a Lion King tee, and floral printed fashion shoes here. All three have held up really well through washes and wears, which is pretty unusual for "fast fashion" type goods. It surprised me, but I'm also super happy about it. Another interesting thing they have--games and candy. There's a rather large collection of card games, board games, and other types of kids' games, as well as a large selection of hard-to-find candies (i.e., foreign made candy and "old" types of candies like Dots). Oh! I also bought the cutest socks and cat-lady lapel pins here! Okay. I should just stop admitting how many cute things I found and bought here... I'll definitely be popping by this store intermittently when I need paper goods, a cute gift-worthy tee, or a quick game to for a dinner party. read more

One of my favorite location! This store is actually organized which is super convenient when looking around for items. They have goodies for all occasions. I specially like how they have incorporate more clothing items and household decorations. If you are looking for some holiday decorations or costumes this is your spot! Despite my love for this store I am only giving it 4 stars because they don't have a diverse selection for iPhone plus cases like they do for the regular sizes. Teen-oriented variety store on Main Street featuring Fairfax's top-notch games, jewelry, home décor and snacks. A well maintained store with fast customer service and hardly ever overcrowded. The best thing about this place is affordability with most of their products selling under $5, even virtual reality 3d headset which i bought. read more

I feel a little silly writing that five and below is as good as it gets. But it's true! I got an ipod touch for Christmas. I've been looking for cases everywhere but they're all 30 bucks or maybe 25 if I'm lucky. That's stupid and I'm too cheap for it. So my dad suggested this place. I am now the proud owner of a Hello Kitty ipod case! It works great, isn't broken. And hellooooo hello kitty is adorable. If you've been looking in every single store available for some toe socks like I have, then you realize nobody has them. Look no further! I found a pair here!!!!!! It was a glorious find. My life is complete, don't judge me! This place is also great for travel size bottles of everything. If you're going camping, come here. Going on spring break in Cancun (that's me!), come here. I understand that these are trying times and all. We went I to this store today a lady working at this store proceeded to tell us we had to have a mask on. I went back to get one from the truck. I went back in and realized that she was not in mask. So I asked does everybody need a mask? She said yes, So I asked where's your mask? She said she had one. i would never in a million years recommend this 5& below. the store manager, tanesha, wanted to close early and closed the doors 5 minutes before closing which is than false advertisement....she then proceeded to be extremely rude to me when i came in talking to me in an angry tone when all i wanted to buy was a drink for myself....there were customers at the register i dont understand the issue. the cashier was very nice and asked me where i got my henna done and as i was going to give her the info, the rude manager tanisha came and scared her from getting the information from me. Please whoever sees this, do not shop here, do not let your kids work here, dont waste your time coming unless you want to feel devalued as a customer. Their is a cashier who works week day mornings and he is SO CREEPY! Always trying to give my kids candy and won't talk to me but directly to my kids. I always decline the candy but it causes my kids to have an EPIC meltdown. In which the guy overly empathizes with my children. I just came from there. The number on the receipt is 9650 so I think it's the same one (Main Street on the corner of Picket Road, Fairfax, VA). Be aware. This is NOT a dollar store, though it smells far better than a dollar store. The prices can be steep. I came in and bought two father's day cards from a wall that said, "greeting cards $1." It turns out it's not all greeting cards and though father's day has come and gone and you can find cards at Target or another major store at 50% off, I paid full price ($4.69 $ $3.99) for pretty standard cards, nothing fancy on them. Also, the Extra chewing gum was $1.25 whereas at Target you can get it at $1.19. I bought two beach towels at $5/piece. That is pretty good if it doesn't bleed all over my clothes when it goes in the washer. :-) In the past, I bought here a charger for an android for $5 bucks. You can't beat that price and it really worked for a long time, just as long as another charger I had paid $24.99 for. So, worth a try, just be aware of the surprise prices. $5 is pretty cheap, but not everything is worth $5. read more

Stopped in before my manicure appointment because it was located near the nail spa to pick up a couple things. This place is loaded with things all $5 and below. I only needed batteries and a few notebooks. There is only one shelf with batteries in the entire store for $1.99 four pack AA. You would think for a place with many items requiring batteries there would be a bigger selection. The prices are not located in a good place. For a few items I had to look below the items to find the price requiring me to bend down to see it and I'm only 5'0. The notebooks I bought were labeled as $1 but at check out it was $1.50 or so. Dollar Tree is a better place to visit for the items I purchased but from briefly walking around it looks like there is a broader variety of items and categories. The main reason I go to Five Below is for the candy. They do cheap candy and snacks. They have candy in the small boxes that are perfect for sneaking into movies. Not ashamed to admit it. Here's the thing 5 Is just like any dollar discount store, except it tends to aim toward novelty items rather than serious items (as in dollar general or tree). You're going to have to read between the lines of the reviewers here because many of them may have been upset by a faulty product. The fact is that my wife and I go to this store about once a month just to look. They gave lots of random stuff and the merchandise changes with the season. However you only want to buy certain items there as the durability of some of the items is poor. Also be careful how you look at pricing there are five categories $1, $2, $3, $4, and $5. On the shelf these are price ranges not exact prices so an item on a $1 shelf might be $1.56 (also don't forget sales tax). This is a great store for teachers because there are many teacher type items (stickers, prizes, candy, greeting cards, magnets, and more). Many of the poor reviews of this store come from neglecting to research a product before purchase. This store does not claim to be an electronics store so I would be weary of headphones, pocket speakers, backup batteries, and other similar items...save those for best buy when you save your pennies for quality equipment. I give this store a 3 star rating based on the criteria below: Cons: lack of quality in certain products, products are barely backed by the company, return policy is very strict, many items can be found cheaper elsewhere, borderline false advertisement (an add for toy train set at Christmas time lead me to believe that the train set would be electric...ended up being wind up), careful of off brand items posing as the real thing Pros: friendly staff, some products are worth buying (candy, stickers, books, school supplies, baskets, etc.), usually clean store (some sections I.e. Five Below is a store where every thing is $5 or less. It's a fun place to check out if you need little trinkets and stuff, but they do also have some practical things such as umbrellas, socks, even shoes and stuff. It's definanitely a more hip dollar store, and they have a lot of cute things here. I got a Futurama calendar for $1 (reg. price $10+), a book about Alexander the Great for $5 (reg. price $30ish), and etc. They also sell candy, baseball caps, DVDs, and a lot of other things. Of course, because everything is so cheap here, you're not allowed to return items, so make sure you're satisfied with it before you buy. read more
