I've had great luck with the housewares- most recently getting an air fryer and a rice cooker and a set of sheets, still in the new packaging. Their prices are very fair, and I feel like they really want to move inventory, which is how it should be. The staff is always friendly and the music they play is excellent. I love spending an hour or so browsing here.

This store had a similar vibe, but I feel that the pricing missed the mark. The clothes were arranged by type and then by color. Everything that I picked up seemed to be a little bit more than I would normally pay at a thrift store. And I love looking at the book section, but they wanted two dollars for paperback books. Not even trade paper backs, just regular small paper backs. I would give it another try since the vibe was good, but I was pretty unimpressed this time around.

Love this place! I discovered this quite by accident over a year ago when I had a house listed for…read moresale near there. This was before it was discovered by everyone and it wasn't so busy. Now there are security people directing traffic, though I've always found a place to park. I go way out of my way to go here since I drive over from Chapel Hill. I come for the produce, a gordita, fresh squeezed orange juice, and fruit slices with lime juice and chili powder. Plus the atmosphere. The flea market is typical cheap flea market stuff, as far as I can tell. But the food and the friendliness is something else. I have my favorite vendors. Last week I bought a case of oranges for $18 and a flat of avocados for $23, and thought the prices were good. (We fight over avocados in my house.) Sometimes, when I spend a lot, the vendor checking me out will slip in another veg or piece of fruit. You won't see that very many places. The pineapples are better and cheaper than elsewhere. If you are looking for organic, this is not the place to go. As I drive up, I start salivating for the gordita or sopes that are made by hand. The mother of one of the owners stands there making them; I watch mesmerized. They already know that I want the bean only, no meat. Then I load it up with all the condiments out on a table: 3 different salsas, sliced cukes, radishes, cilantro, pico de gallo, and more. It is a community gathering place, you'll hear mostly Spanish, you will definitely feel welcome and want to come back. PS From here, go to Le Ming's to buy Asian food, then you are stocked up for the week.

So if you want to have some good tacos, churros, crepés, chicharrones you need to visit this place. For tacos i go to Taqueria Allende , for crepés Mike's Ice Cream, chicharrones I don't know the name but you will see them in the entrance, for churros. If you decide to go let me know what you think.

When I first moved to Durham (3.5 years ago now!), Brightleaf Square was one of the first areas…read morethat was pointed out to me. It truly is a picturesque area, albeit small, with industrial, brick buildings, hanging lights and perfect patio seating for the summer. Brightleaf Square offers a balanced mix of restaurants to retails shops, although I can only vouch for The Little Dipper (I have also been to Satisfaction, and can't recommend a re-visit). Brightleaf Square also offers a seafood market and Clouds Brewery is coming in June 2016, perfect timing for Brightleaf's Summer Music Series! The Music Series runs the length of the summer and occurs every Friday from 7-9pm in the courtyard. Lawn chairs are welcome but no outside food, drinks or coolers (they want you to support local business). The old tobacco warehouse now houses ten local businesses including Indio (a gifts and goods shop with arts and crafts classes), School Kids Records (a vinyl shop with an even bigger supply of CD's) and Vert & Vogue (fashionable clothing store). In addition, you'll find a salon, framing shop and a financial advisor on site. While Brightleaf Square is small, it's iconic to Downtown Durham and definitely worth a walkthrough!

Brightleaf Square is a quaint retail development located in the center of the Brightleaf…read moreneighborhood in downtown Durham. I'd call it a "shopping center," but it's not like a typical suburban shopping center. The development consists of two repurposed brick warehouses, originally built in 1904, that used to store bright leaf tobacco (that's where the name comes from). So, Brightleaf Square looks and feels historic, and that's what makes it charming. That said, the development is kind of small and there's not that much here. If you want to walk across the street to, say, Rose's or Jeni's, then yes, the neighborhood (also known as the Brightleaf District) has more to offer. I highly recommend Rose's, by the way, for their ramen and ice cream sandwiches. Strictly speaking, within the square, Emmy Squared Pizza is terrific for their Detroit-style pizza. It's among the best deep-dish pizza anywhere, in my opinion. There's also Clouds Brewing, which is a craft brewery and restaurant. Other businesses are local/boutique shops, such as Bull City Art & Frame Company and Mill & Meadow Stationery Shop, and private offices. The brick/stone walkway, old-fashioned lamp posts, string lights, trees, benches, and early-1900s buildings can make for a fun, whimsical stroll with friends and family before or after lunch or dinner. It's also a good date spot, especially if you incorporate the larger neighborhood (e.g., pizza at Emmy Squared followed by ice cream sandwiches at Rose's). For parking, I suggest parking in the surface lot at the corner of W Main St and S Gregson St. You can enter the lot from either of those streets. Pay attention to signs as you may have to pay during certain days and times. Fun fact: Durham's infamous "Can Opener Bridge" is located on the south end of Brightleaf Square. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the bridge's Wikipedia page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norfolk_Southern%E2%80%93Gregson_Street_Overpass Also, watch some of the videos on this YouTube channel to see the Can Opener in action: https://www.youtube.com/@11foot8plus8 The camera that captures those videos is mounted on one of the buildings at Brightleaf Square.

I went to University of San Francisco...My brother went to Duke...So yeah I get to wear their gear with shame :) and shop in a huge bookstore. Value wise, you will find some Deals but I am all about instant gratification. The prices are high but they offer Lululemon, Champion, Cutter and buck so you will find something that fits your budget and needs. I love blue so Duke has it over my schools colors which is Green and Gold (ugh). My visit here is just a reminder that I do not care much for Dollar General stores. My visit here…read morewas slightly better than I would have anticipated it to be. This particular store seemed a little more organized and somewhat cleaner than most other Dollar Generals I have visited, but as pointed out by another reviewer, it is still a bit cluttered. I cannot agree with the assessment of a friendly staff as that was not my experience. The staff was matter of fact, all business, not particularly chummy or outwardly friendly.

The staff here is just horrible, I just left there minutes ago and just had the worst customer…read moreservice experience I believe I have ever had anywhere. The cashier who initially rang up my order forgot to use my coupon initially and looked at me like I was crazy when I asked her if she could ring me up again so I could use the coupon that I came there to use. She proceeded to dump my bagged items on the other counter and called another worker from the back to ring my order up. When the second lady came from the back room she asked what was going on, both ladies began talking about me in a negative way because I was using coupons. They were talking about me as if I was not standing there right in front of them. Just plain rude!!! As the second cashier rang up my order, she began to scrutinize every coupon telling me that I couldn't use a coupon for dove soap when she failed to look to see that I actually did have the correct product. When I told her it was the correct product she looked at the product, let out a big sigh, rolled her eyes at me and scanned the coupon. She never said a word to me other than "this is the wrong product" after I paid for my product, she very firmly handed me my receipt and turned away from me never saying "thank you", " have a nice day", or anything. I thanked her and she never said anything to me. This was just an awful experience as I shop here once in a while only because it's close to my job. I will never shop here again, they just lost a great customer.... For the Manager: I would highly recommend customer service training for your staff. No customer should EVER have to experience what I had to experience today at this Dollar General!
