I used to go to this Barnes & Noble a lot to chill and devour books while enjoying coffee from Starbucks, but my most recent visit was one of the most disappointing bookstore-venturing experiences I've had. First of all, the cafe was too packed; they seemed to have change the seating arrangements, and there's not enough seats to accommodate more customers. Compared to the Barnes & Noble in Cary, this location lacked seats outside of the cafe area, so most of the people who want to just sit and read a book are left with no option but to find an open seat in the cafe area or in one of the uncomfortable "benches" in front of the magazine stand. Another annoying change: the restrooms now require a code to enter (probably to avoid unpleasant guests from trashing the toilets, which is understandable). When I asked an old guy at the customer service for the code, he wrote it down for me but the lack of friendliness and helpfulness of the employees make this shop devoid of the kind of warmth you find in other bookstores. None of them asked for what I was looking for or greeted me when I passed. As for the overall value books, it's the same story for every Barnes & Noble: I just don't see a smart reason to purchase books here over purchasing books on Amazon because of prices here are significantly higher compared to buying online. I ended up leaving right away. This location should learn from the Barnes & Noble in Cary when it comes to overall ambiance and customer service. read more

We visit this Barnes and Noble occasionally because it's just expensive but they have a good variety of books. I specifically go for the B&N classic and special editions but it is nice they have a cafe. I noticed their bathroom is locked and can only be unlocked by a code on the bottom of a receipt which isn't super classy. Overall like any other B&N- the employees said hello but didn't ask if we were looking for anything. read more

Service was solid and the drink I ordered was spot on. Barnes & Noble does Starbucks drinks better than Starbucks! Book selection is vast and surprising this Barnes & Nonle follows the old format of Barnes & Noble from at least 10 years ago which I liked. The new store formats are easier to find books but this was sorta nostalgic. I did find the Sci-fi writer I was looking for - David Webber. I like this "old fashioned" Barnes & Noble. Value?!? If I want a book I will buy it no matter what. I only bought drinks and desert this time as I am working on a few books right now. Still, you can find what you want at this Barnes & Noble! Just a great selection of full priced books or discount ones as well. Worth going to if you are in the area. read more

Options to call the store / pre order from the cafe and store and either pick up at the curb (THAT RIGHT THEY BRING IT TO YOUR CAR OR PLACE IT IN A BASKET NEAR YOUR CAR) or you can come in and pick it up. Huge fan of all the staff they provide creme de la creme stellar VIP treatment every time! I once ordered a book via phone call prior to my visit as well as placed an order in the app. Wonderful experience thanks to Matt since he not only walked the merchandise to he also directed me to my cafe order. Trying to buy something at Barnes and Noble is like listening to a ​timeshare​ salesman. I promised my daughter I'd pick up a book for her to read in the hospital, so instead of buying an e-book like I normally​ do I needed to buy a physical book and Barnes and Noble was the closest to the hospital. Visiting hours were almost over and I'm trying to get the hospital and the clerk wouldn't shut up​ about the membership program. I had to raise my voice to a loud "NO" to get her to shut up about it. Thinking that may have been an isolated incident I came back a couple of days later to get another book for the hospital. This time two clerks ganged up on me and would not check me out until they'd gotten through the stupid membership pitch. There's nothing that would compel me to go into that store again. This Barnes and Noble is much different than the one at Southpoint. This particular location is only one story and has a much larger area with tables near the Starbucks. If you are a UNC student and you want to go student this would be a good location. One issue I have with this location is getting in and out of the shopping center. It is almost impossible to turn left to get out during the busier times of day. You might want to reroute and go out by Dicks Sporting Goods. read more

I really like being able to browse books, toys, and related merchandise in a brick-and-mortar store. There's nothing like being able to pick up a book, read the dust jacket, and flip through the pages to get a feel for what one is purchasing. In addition, particularly after the holidays, there are many clearance items available for 50% off the original price. While I admit that the prices may not be as low as online sellers (or even their own website prices -- it's worthwhile to do a bit of price comparison before buying), it's still a good spot to come for gift ideas, and to sit and enjoy time in the cafe while browsing. My interactions with the staff have been extremely great- they are helpful and very friendly. read more

I was super thirty coming in from burning hot weather so I bought a large Fiji water for $3.25 plus tax (my daughter got a venti iced tea in a jumbo cup with ice for a similar price), and I requested Scott may I have a large cup with ice. I was told that I can only get a small cup with ice when I mentioned that the drink I paid for was just as big as the ice tea, Scott said that no I definitely cannot because he was the manager. read more

A little small on the selection side. They do have a decent selection of Christian fiction, though much of this seems to be about the Amish (I have no idea whether this is normally the case with Christian fiction.) Their game selection is really nice. Lots of possibilities available for the casual or the more selective of gamer. Oh, and there are books too. Lots of these. While this occurred at this B&N location, it applies to that company as a whole, on-line and it's website. B&N offers $50.00 in coupons for those persons that pay $25.00 for their reader membership program. At this location I asked the cashier if this applied to "new members", in my case my membership had ended in Dec. 2014. She was a bit curt, but replied "No. it's for new members only. You would not be a new member." Personally I think this is both unfair and shows that B&N doesn't give a damn about customer loyalty. So I wrote B&N customer service explaining the situation and how it's in essence giving the middle finger to it's past loyal customers. I also mentioned that I thought it unfair not to extend their discount program to Nook books as well as text. Those two items have never been included in their discount plan. They replied addressing neither issue and just talking about the wonderful benefits' of membership. It was signed by "megan". I replied asking if the reply was computer generated or was Megan simply stuck in a job that she hated. The reply from B&N today, was more of the same and at the bottom of the e, it did say that the coupons were only for new customers. Reasonable wifi and a host of tables for studying. I couldn't find a single electrical outlet, so take old-school books or the device with the best battery life. There's a Jason's Deli and quite a few other stores adjacent to its parking lot, so you can park once, eat, shop, study all in one go. read more

I loved being able to research and find the book I was looking for online, then reserve it for pickup at the closest store to where I work... this one. Everything worked great and I received a text message within an hour that said the book I selected was ready for pick up. "Same kind of different as me" which, by the way is an excellent read! My issue was with web vs. in-store pricing. The book is advertised as available online for $9.60. Because I picked it up in the store, the price rose by 50% to $15.50. Why, exactly, does Barnes & Noble do this? A. I only wanted a printed copy because I'm reading this as part of a group discussion and wanted to have the real book with me to refer to when discussing it with others or I would have bought it from Apple's iBook App. B. Had I known it was going to be $15.50 when I got to the store, I would have just ordered it on Amazon for the same $9.50, bought a second book for another family member, and got free shipping. B&N's online vs. in-store pricing makes no sense to me. That being said, those gripes are with B&N. The folks at this store were very nice and I was in and out quickly. I just think their pricing model should be a little more transparent. I won't be repeating that mistake again. read more

I personally like the fact that this one is specifically just a one story store and not two stories like the one at Southpoint. It feels silly rating a book store--but it's an instant 5 stars. Barnes and noble has a nice atmosphere and I always walk away with a book in my hands (recently Salem's Lot) and a smile on my face. I guess the only tiny thing to improve would be having employees walking around a bit more. I don't want to go up to the counter to ask for help, it always feels better to catch them while they're wandering which didn't happen the last couple times. Anyways, great place. read more

This is my "home" B&N store and I love it- I'm here at least once every week or two. I've found the associates at this store to be absolutely the most friendly and helpful, and they seem to have very low turnover as I see the same faces each visit. The cafe area is spacious and the baristas are also wonderful and accommodating with custom drink requests. This location is a lot easier to navigate about and more relaxed than the huge Southpoint location, though I do wish they had some comfy lounge chairs in the store! I was disappointed when they, as a company, got rid of the new books section within each genre, but that sentiment seemed to be shared by the associates at this location that I spoke with about it (they don't make the rules, after all). I find my membership to be one of my best purchases of the year, since it saves me SO much money with all the reading I do! read more

I generally like this B&N. However, I find their prices higher than Borders or Amazon. In terms of store front though, this bookstore beats the Borders in Chapel Hill hands down. My wife and I spend a great deal of time here, sipping on coffee and reading books. read more

This is a pretty standard Barnes and Noble. They have a normal selection you'd find at any Barnes and Noble, with an above average in size cafe. Parking and traffic at this location can be a pain in the neck, as is accessing the parking lot. read more

The associates try their best and are friendly, but management is not helpful at all. They give inaccurate information and are not sympathetic to customer concerns. Corporate customer service was also no help, and said that the store needed to handle my issue. There's a lack of communication and serious disorganization with the company. Ah, over priced books, what's not to love? I come to B&N mostly to just peruse books and see if they're worth buying before I promptly buy them for a much cheaper price from amazon or a used book store or get they on my kindle. A fun place to come to just chill and spend some good reading time. The cafe is okay and while I don't really like starbucks coffee, I can usually get some alternative here that isn't too bad. The nook they make seems okay although of course I prefer my kindle. I do like the nook color for children's books so if you have kids and don't want to spend the money on an iPad, a nook color is a great way to get a lot of children's books for your kids without having a lot of books taking up space at home. Of course there is always your local library as well for children's books if you want the feel of a real book. read more

The Sunday cafe people are very high pressure and sort of obnoxious . They will pressure you to buy bigger drinks and food even when you've clearly expressed what you want. One was almost sarcastic today when I didn't do what she wanted. read more

Five star customer service from David at the Nook Desk. I am an avid reader, and was uncertain as to whether the Nook would enhance my reading experience. I knuckled under to the new technology, but couldn't handle the updates. Imagine my delight when David, who seems to be the primo techie at B&N with his ever patient approach, was able to help me handle the upgrade. I had assumed that F2F customer service had gone the way of the Dodo..not so.. Many thanks to David, who has made my holiday travel all the better for his expert help making my Nook functional once more. Kudos to B&N and David for your genuine help! read more
