In a word, "Wow." It's a big market, with many indoor "shops" and many outdoor stands- takes a bit of walking to see it all... much bigger in size than the downtown Durham Farmer's Market, for example. There's a bit of everything there- small electronics (especially car adaptors), cell phones and accessories, household items (ranging from mattress pads to fly swatters), toys, BB guns, cosmetics, incense, and other miscellaneous items. Most of it is stuff you'll pass right by, but still neat to window-shop. LOTS of FOOD, too... tons of vegetables and fruit from multiple vendors, candy/ chocolate, etc. Best of all, it's all very cheap! In addition, it's a great place to go just eat! Many vendors sell burgers/ dogs, but also tacos, pupusas, sliced up fruit (like mango-on-a-stick), fresh-made ice cream, cooked nuts, smoothies, and other interesting drinks (coconut milk, tamarind drink, etc). I had a loroco (vine flower bud from Central America) pupusa, and it was delightful- came with a spicy pickled slaw. Also thoroughly enjoyed the coconut milk as well as some of the chocolates from a vendor inside. Best of all, it was just generally "friendly." I felt like a part of a real community walking around there, as the vendors and shoppers were so nice. My son used some of his allowance to buy a box of "snappers" from one vendor, and the vendor went ahead and gave him a second box for free. Many food vendors gave samples, and didn't then look at you funny if you didn't buy anything, but instead, wished you a nice day. Other shoppers were working-class and very friendly, helping each other out. Too often, we spend our days not noticing others around us as we swiftly sweep through sterile shops. This was a welcome change.

Everything that I picked up seemed to be a little bit more than I would normally pay at a thrift store. And I love looking at the book section, but they wanted two dollars for paperback books. Not even trade paper backs, just regular small paper backs. I would give it another try since the vibe was good, but I was pretty unimpressed this time around.

So my daughter was disappointed since I've been talking about this place. I found an amazing jacket and necklace roughly $105. The items are more expensive here than other vintage stores. I found an amazing leather jacket for $88 and a wool jacket for $120, but a bit too pricey for those. I loved the jacket and necklace I got so much that I couldn't pass up on them.

HORRIBLE shopping experience here …read more.. Store - 4723 NC Hwy 55 Durham NC I drove about 25 minutes across town to purchase three packs of Globe Light Bulbs (approx $50 purchase). While shopping I located some additional items I wanted. A total of at least $100. The store only had one pack of the bulbs that I wanted on the shelf. I located a lady on the floor named Carolyn. I asked her if she had another pack of bulbs to complete my purchase. The time is 8:10pm on Friday night. Carolyn looked me dead in the face and said - " We probably do have some in the back but to be honest it's probably hard to get to". She said "it's so much stock and stuff I won't be able to check but I'm sure we have them - you will just have to come back another day". She had a smirk on her face the entire time. Here I am standing in the store getting ready to spend at least $100 bucks. I had drove 25 minutes from Raleigh to Durham to grab items from this location. I put all of my items back and left the store.
