I had a terrific experience last week at Olympic Schwinn Fitness Center (OSFC), and I want to…read moreconvey that here. Note that my review is biased based on the personnel I interacted with during my visits--you may have dissimilar outcomes with different store staff. I called OSFC on Friday, August 20th, around 5:00pm, asking how late they were open. The phone was quickly answered and a helpful employee told me they were open until 8pm. (Please check with them though--their hours may have changed since this review was written.) I also asked how much an estimate would cost--he replied that estimates were free. I drove up and down Coolidge between 9-mile and 8-mile, but could not seem to find it. I called again from the car, and the same gentleman answered the phone quickly, and let me know they were near "the KFC, just south of 9-mile." Already I had called this place twice, and both times was met with excellent, helpful service. The parking lot is a bit tricky, because there's only one entrance and exit off of Coolidge, and if you miss it you have to turn around and go back. During my first visit I parked in a spot near the store entrance--on my second visit, I missed the entrance, and just pulled into the KFC a few doors down. (This is an acceptable solution if you miss the entrance and the KFC lot isn't busy.) I needed an old early-70s Schwinn fixed up, and as I rolled it into the store, I was immediately met by a helpful fellow who started to help me immediately--but the phone rang. He asked if it was okay to field the call (I said yes), excused himself, and then dealt with the customer. Because I had such difficulty in finding a reputable bike shop, I went into this place thinking I would write a review for it, be it good or bad. While the clerk was on the phone, I surveyed the shop: clean, brightly lit, with a large selection of bikes, parts, and accessories. Then my attention turned to the phone-call (very nosy of me, I know!). It seemed the caller was having difficulty shifting gears, and he blamed this on the service he received at OSFC. However, the clerk was extremely friendly and professional with him, and replied that although they in no way touched the gears on his bike, the caller could bring the bike in and they'd fix the problem for free. I was happy to hear that--in the event something did not come out right--they stood by their work. After finishing the call, the clerk dealt with me again, surmised that I wanted the bike cleaned and outfitted with new tires, and then gave me an estimate of around $130 to clean the bike, and put new tubes and tires on, as well as make sure everything else was working. He said he could have it done by Noon the next day. This was agreeable to me, and I dropped the bike off (receiving a ticket stub to claim the bike). Around 4pm the next day I came back. (Side note: this was the day of the Woodward Dream Cruise, and although traffic wasn't terrible, I couldn't find any parking spots, missed the entrance, and had to park at the KFC.) The clerk and owner were there, and perhaps saw me drive by, because as I came into the shop the clerk was wheeling the bike out to me. It looked great! We shot the shit for a while, I paid via credit card, and I left as a satisfied customer. Now, I could've bought new tires, tubes, and anything else the bike needed, and the materials to clean it up and such for less than $130. However, I considered this an excellent and reasonable price, especially since I knew qualified technicians were taking care of it, and if I were to have any problems in the future, they'd stand by their restoration work. I heartily endorse OSFC, and really encourage you to go there for your bike needs. Get an estimate--if you don't like it, then leave. I'm not associated with the store in any way, but I appreciated their helpfulness, their friendliness, and their commitment to making bike repair a pleasant experience. This is my first review on Yelp, and I'm only writing it because I had a lot of difficulty finding out a good bike shop through the internet. I googled "bike repair 48025" (my zip code), I tried Yahoo!, yellowbook.com, all sorts of things, but there wasn't a lot of information out there. I finally went with OSFC because it had two positive reviews (at the time), and no negative reviews. I am adding my two cents because I want good businesses to succeed. I will definitely go back to OSFC for any cycling needs, and I hope they continue to offer outstanding service for years to come.

I know he meant well but he's more of a blunt type of person. Minor tune up cost $40 (out the door) - which includes oil gears, check brakes, and air (maybe replace inner tube) I brought a bike knowing it will need repair but he kept talking it down - ok dude i already know but basically he didn't want to repair the bike if it went over the price of $75 because he had used bikes that he was trying to push on us. That's one thing i didn' t like! The place sales more high-end bike priced over $100 up to $400 - he doesn't sale second hand bikes.

The first snowstorm of the year happened a few days ago…read more My husband and i decided to visit Kensington Park. We arrived there expecting that there will be sleds, snowboards or skies available for rent. Unfortunately, there was no company around to offer snow equipment for rent on site. Searched on Yelp and found several sports shops and snow resorts that offer equipment for rent. Looking at the rent per day which is $39 per set, we decided to buy used equipment at Play It Again Sports. As we entered the store, there was already a line of parents and their kids at the register. Despite the short commotion, we were greeted by a big and tall caucasian guy. Originally thought he was the only one who worked there. Turns out there were other guys standing on the other side of the store that completely ignored us. A good suggestion for this store is for the employees to have at least a uniform or a nameplate to identify them as an employee. After finishing the last customer, the tall guy came towards and toured us around the store. He answered our return policy inquiry which convinced us into buying the equipment with no hesitation. 14 days return and refund if we are not fully satisfied. He enrolled us in the rewards program to track our order history and easy return. Great service! Speaking of equipment, this location had a lot of options for new and used skies and snowboarding equipment, for as low $20 for the shoes, and $12 poles. The lowest i could find for the snowboard with bindings was around $120. The burton shoes that is brand new was a steal for $80 compared to the online price of $180, minus the box ;-) We saw used frisbees, equipment and apparel for hockey, ice skating, golf and other types of sports. We kinda feel old to start a new hobby at a cost, so this store was the ideal place for us to get second-hand equipment. Will be back for my husband's snowboard and shoes ;-)

I myself used to work in a consignment store when I was in college, so I know these places can have some pretty good deals. The store was exactly what I expected. An array of different hockey gear used and new and the prices were right in line with other places. They also have other sports but my visits are primarily hockey related. Some of the stuff is more expensive while other stuff was cheaper when going through my comparisons. I was helped right away by the staff. I told them I was just starting out again and they were nice enough to give me a tour of the hockey section and some idea of equipment levels, since I haven't played in so long. Even offered some background on leagues and rinks to check out. After picking out my equipment, I noticed there was a check in deal for the store. Upon clicking on it I realized it was not for until November or maybe it was from last November? Who knows. I asked the owner of the store about it and he said it was likely old. He still gave me 10% off my stick I purchased since I was using Yelp to check in and let him know about it. I've only been here twice now, but it's been pleasant both times. Glad they are just around the corner.

With the pandemic I knew I wouldn't be going to our gym anytime soon. Our couch was getting a nice…read more"Annette" sized divot and my joints were getting stiff. I needed to start moving again. I'm not big on running outdoors so I cleaned up the basement and began my research on treadmills. Eventually I found a good, mid priced folding treadmill (Sole F80) that they carry at Dick's and waited patiently for one to come in stock somewhere in my area (treadmills are understandably hard to come by these days!). You can set it up to be notified if one comes in stock at a set location. It I was open to picking up anywhere in the Metro so I just checked every morning on their website. Eventually after a week, one ended up at this location in Canton and I made the purchase! It wasn't available for delivery but curbside pick up was an option. After some measuring I realized our Escape was not big enough for this but luckily my aunt's SUV could make it work. So we headed over together to make the pick up. Curbside is easy--pull up, call them to let them know you're here. They check your ID and purchase email with a large item like this. Then two dudes came out and, after much hard labor, got this massive box into our car. So major snaps for the heavy lifting they have to do on the regular for purchases like these! On our way home I started to sweat thinking about getting it into OUR house alone, and wished they had offered the delivery/assembly option, but luckily with the help of family (and our unsuspecting neighbor who got roped in by being in the wrong place at the wrong time!) we got it down stairs. Putting it together was super easy and I was able to do it alone. I still wish they offered assistance tho, I was so worried someone would get hurt moving this 300lb beast down the stairs! But that's the only criticism I have about the experience. In the end the treadmill is great. It's a fantastic build and Dick's had it at the manufacturer's price. No additional fees for curbside pick up either. I got two weeks of getting back to shape on it before twisting my ankle walking to my car today, haha! But I look forward to getting back on it as soon as I'm healed. Highly recommend purchasing an equipment piece from Dick's. But make sure you can accommodate pick up and moving should delivery not be available in your area.
