Picked up my first order last week and I was not really impressed. I will list the things I ordered and the review: teriyaki tofu was terrible and mushy, roasted yams were covered with too much pepper. Bean burger was edible and tasty. Thai tofu was alright, the tofu was not fried or baked, just lopped on. Egg casserole, had zero flavor. Cilantro rice had NO cilantro. I e-mailed the company to ask if it was a mistake and they told me the cilantro rice is cooked in a liquid cilantro flavoring. That was the strangest thing, despite that it did not taste like any flavoring at all. Not sure I can waste my money on this again. I love the concept and wish there were more companies that provided this service. I am more vegetarian/plant-based so this might not be a great option for me. I was super excited for this place to open because I've been stalking their website and a few people I know have raved about it. I walked over from work last week to check it out since they were having a promotional deal of buy 2 get one free. I purchased the breakfast fit-ritto (see photo), the corned beef hash and yams, and the terriyaki noodle bowl with chicken. I'll start with what I liked. I like the fact that I can conveniently walk over here from work and pick out a cheat meal for my meal plan since I'm currently training for a marathon and various other activities. I also like the fact that the ingredients and nutrition labels are clear. If you are counting calories or macros - this is great. Customer service in store seems nice too. The Chicken Terriyaki noodle bowl was the best one out of the three i purchased. Great flavor and it was brown rice noodles. Low cal and a sufficient amount of carbs for me. Downside... I didn't like the corned beef hash and eggs it was unflavorful. I usually make this dish at home and I can get just the same amount of calories, but with a bang of flavor. I won't be repurchasing this one. The bigger upset was the breakfast fit-ritto. Originally, I had gotten all three choices because I'm allergic to dairy. And all three options were dairy free .. or so I thought. On saturday morning I warmed up my breakfast ritto and noticed the oven was dripping something. Before I even took a bite, I noticed the cheese. Good thing I didnt even eat it because I could've swelled up like a balloon. I had to double check the label and no where on the label does it say cheese. I called the store and the person who answered the phone double checked the label for me and confirmed no cheese. Yet my burrito had cheese? And he didn't seem to know any of answers to any of my questions. He was nice and took down my number and told me he would call me back when the owner got back to him about the burrito. Well ... no one called me back. No one answered my questions. And I'm left with a burrito with cheese in it that I can't eat. Oh and no breakfast on a Saturday. :( This is a huge failure because if it wasn't suppose to have cheese I clearly got the wrong order. And if it is suppose to have cheese the label is clearly wrong for people like me who have allergies. This could've ended up way worse. I mean at least call a customer back especially if their allergic. That's customer service. If you want to have it fixed, ensure the burrito was in fact mis labeled, maybe even an apology? I probably won't be back tho... there seems to be a few more tweeks that need to made before sales go off the wall for them. Please fix your labels. Please indicate allergies. And please call your customers back when you say you will. I'm editing this review (3/24/14): Only because the owner called me back and has tried to reach me multiple times due to the mistake. And when I mean multiple - he has tried to call me at least 6 times. This is true customer service. They've fixed it and apologized. Yesterday I came here for the first time. I was in a really big hurry and wanted to get in and get out & be on my way. I grabbed a salad, and as I was doing that one of the people there suggested I get one of the 50% off salads if I was going to eat it right away. I was in such a hurry I didn't even see the 50% off so I thanked him, paid and left. When I go to my car and opened my salad I was VERY disappointed. There was literally 6 leaves of kale. I got the kale & goat cheese salad with chicken. While I was not happy with the lack of kale (my salad looked nothing like the pictures they show) I do have to say it was a very good salad. I am super picky when it comes to chicken and I did like the chicken that came with this salad. I paid $4.50 (half off). I would have been pissed if I paid full price for this. I can't imagine paying $9 for what I got (see picture). I do love this idea, and I LOVE that someone is bringing healthy quick options. I will check them out again, because I want to see their other options. However, I may just end up going to Jack's and ordering a salad there...super quick, huge salads for about the same price. Obviously they need to make a profit. They do have locally grown foods, which is awesome and I know it costs more but I still can't get over paying $9 for my tiny salad. This place is pretty cool. Nestled between O & N streets on 16th street. You walk in and its a very vibrant green color on the wall. There are refrigerators in the wall there labeled for Breakfast Lunch & Dinner. I had grabbed the Teriyaki Chicken Noodle Bowl. They make a regular size and a large size an there is a $2 difference from what I overheard for 1/3 more food for $2 more basically. They have a pretty good selection of different foods to tempt the taste buds. The chicken was moist and well flavored. But the noodles were ok. I think they were dry from the reheat process. But I also felt they could have used a touch of sauce. The mushrooms and asparagus were yummy as well. This is a great spot if you're trying to eat healthy and say if u forgot your lunch. Excellent choice and not to mention the nice walk to get there. The lunch filled me up for sure but didn't give me that sleepy feeling because I ate too heavy. They also have food delivery. Great concept. Fit Eats originated as a meal service and this is their first retail location. All food is prepared at their other location and shipped to their downtown store. Everything is refrigerated and there is a microwave to heat it up. They don't have a vegetarian option except for some breakfast items but they said they're expanding it. The menu varies every week. Ingredients, calories and nutritional content are displayed on every item. Perfect for those trying to lose weight and/or those looking to eat healthy. Most lunch and dinner items are $9+. Kind of pricey considering it's not made to order and you have to heat it up yourself but very convenient if you're looking for a quick meal or for something to get now and eat later. Bought a Groupon and went to the store to pick out my items and of course it took me 20 mins because they have so many dang good looking meals. Oh my Goodness! My husband and the kids and I were on the way to the Bay Area and we wanted to stop and explore Sacramento. We were also hungry! This is the cutest, friendliest place. The kids had the turkey Mac and cheese, I had the carne asada bowl and my husband had the shepherd's pie (his favorite). He said it was the best he's ever had. We stocked up on some more nibbles, but we will certainly eat here every time we pass through. Cannot recommend this place enough. And the gal running the place, I think her name was Barbara, was so fun and cheery, she made shopping and buying the delicious food an amazing event. I was surprised by how good these healthy meals taste. I ordered a dozen meals for my family and all of the meals were healthy and tasted great. A few of the entrees were not large enough portions for my my husband however the company offers a larger portion option on most meals. Overall I was satisfied with my purchase. My only negative point was the FEDEX delivery and they would not utilize the gate code for my private gated driveway. Since I had a large delivery window and I can't see the end of my driveway; I had to continually walk to end of the driveway and check to see if it was delivered. Only found a couple items that I did not care for but just my preference otherwise have never been disappointed. Today was my first time ordering from Fit Eats, and I am pleasantly surprised! I feel like oftentimes these pre-prepped meal options aren't very good. Often lacking flavor. But this was delicious! I ordered the vegetarian chili and the flavors were on point! So flavorful and definitely satisfying. Their added touches to my order made my first experience even better; there was a cute note written on my bag thanking me for my order and they even included a homemade peanut butter cup which I'm very excited to try. I often have to eat in my car and am the epitome of poor nutrition but have little time to work out or learn the ins and outs of proper nutrition.. It's convenient and parking is easier than anywhere else in downtown, the location is great. The facility is clean and inviting, the staff is helpful and friendly. I picked out a meal in seconds .. Everything is delicious and healthy and despite the need to microwave it, it looks tastes and smells fresh. I felt good the whole day. I think it's probably the healthiest thing I've ever eaten. I've tried a few Fit Eats meals recommended by my personal trainer. Last week I went and bought around $60 worth and actually they were pretty good. There is a nice selection and even for those on the keto diet but not me, that's for my girlfriend. Overall I think my favorite are the turkey meatloaf and the fit cheeseburger. This place is usually very empty during any time of the day. I walked in and purchased something to eat one day and noticed what it said at the bottom of the receipt "5 more visits for $9.99 off". Within a couple weeks I collected 6 receipts, and when I went back to this store the cashier told me that I actually need to buy something for $20 or more for each visit. The receipt is very misleading. According to them, it is posted somewhere within the store that you need to spend more money and other terms for this to actually work. WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. Always check your food if you order Fit Eats weekly deliveries. I received this on July 20th, after ordering meals for the entire week. I thought at the very least the food would be good for the entire week on account of, they let you order a weeks worth of meals. However, I found this piece of tofu on July 21st, only one day after receiving my weekly meals, and it had a best by date of only 4 days into the week. Please check your food from this company, I caught this as I was getting ready to feed it to my CHILD. I've eaten tofu my entire adult life so I'm very familiar with bad tofu, with people who can't cook tofu, or properly store tofu, and I've never seen it this bad before. It was disgusting. I have a ring doorbell, I retrieved my meals as soon as they got to my front door and they weren't even cold. There was no chill whatsoever to any of my meals. I was surprised with how big the portion was and how flavorful the food is. I've tried several different meals now and I've been truly impressed by each one. I do not personally like the steak because it's too tuff for my liking. I'm a bit skeptical about how many calories and sodium is in the food since you get a good sized portion and its flavored so well. But I've started a diet and am going to eat this twice a day, lunch and dinner, to stay under 1500 calories. Lets see if it works. This is great! We've been ordering meals from this organization for several months now. It started out as Superfoods In Motion and has transformed into FitEats. While the first name was okay, the new one better explains what this service is about. Our first order was an experiment. Delivered food smacks of pizza or fast food so we were interested but hesitant. Now, several months later, we're enthusiastic about FitEats. Why? First of all, the food is excellent. It's always fresh and prepared carefully. Second, there's a lot of variety; no two weeks menus are the same, there are always interesting additions to the menu and many of the recipes are innovative. Third, each meal is complete, that is, there's a main dish, sides, and accoutrements to complement the main item. Fourth, it's all first quality food and nutritionally balanced. And, although meals arrive in well-sealed containers, it is attractively presented in much the same way you's expect at a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Pizza, this is not. Fast food, this is not. This a fine restaurant which specializes in healthy, tasty and nutritionally balanced meals that just happens to deliver meals to your door. My wife works and she's a fine, fine cook. I'm retired and I just learned how to put milk on corn flakes. Now, I do some of the cooking. How? FitEats is my ace-in-the-hole and I do the ordering. We've figured out that to prepare enough for the two of us to eat as well as we do eating "at" FitEats, we'd have a very much overstuffed pantry and a refrigerator with odds and ends of all of the specialized foods needed to prepare the variety we enjoy with FitEats. There are no pots, pans and cooking utensils to clean up and no dishwasher to run. There is no trash. From preparing to sit down to eat to the kitchen being clean again, takes maybe fifteen minutes more than just eating our delicious meals. And, we can each have a different meal, like enchiladas for one of us and roasted chicken and yams for the other. We use little water, have no waste and spend no time hauling groceries from the market and putting them away. So, not only is FitEats convenient, giving us less time in the kitchen and more time together, ordering our meals from FitEats is economical and friendly to the environment. I've tried the breakfast and dinner meals so far, and I'm just finishing up my first week. I bought the Living Social deal. I love the service: delivery to my door before I leave for work, pickup of coolers, no hassles, easy to use containers, nutritional information easily available, lots of options (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free) - no issues there at all and it worked really well for us. As for portion sizes and price, I'd say the prices are about in line or in some cases less expensive then going out to eat. When going out, you may get larger portions, but for me and my family, the portions were perfect. I'd much rather get a reasonable portion size than a ridiculously large amount of food that is going to either go to waste or put me in the gym for an extra our or two. I love that they are conscientious about the ingredients they use, and add super foods wherever they can, as we try to do the same when cooking in our household. The food itself was good. So far, nothing has been an over-the-top, give-me-a-moment-with-this-amazing-bite type of experience, but it has all been really good, solidly enjoyable, and satisfying, and I feel great about what I'm putting in my body whenever I eat a meal from them. I think our favorite so far was the shrimp mac and cheese, but my cottage cheese side was also unusually good this morning. I have to mention that with my egg scramble, my side of fruit ended up getting moldy (just one one of the two I ordered), after one day. But, I emailed Superfoods in Motion and they responded within minutes, and immediately refunded me for the meal. It could have been that the grapes were packaged with the meal while it was still warm, or just a bad batch that didn't start turning until after it was in route to me, but I was impressed by their customer service and this wouldn't stop me from ordering again. That said, this is an option I would use when I know I have a really busy week coming up, as a healthy alternative to going out to eat or throwing something convenient but not well-balanced on the table. Its definitely more of a splurge since I like to save money by cooking healthy meals at home, but all in all I think the price is in line with the service and quality, and it always made me happy to open my door to a cooler full of healthy, yummy food that I didn't have to cook. :D Side note: I don't have a microwave at home so if I wasn't at work to heat up the food, I used my toaster oven at home and I think in some cases, a toaster oven or even stop-top reheat may give a better end result than a microwave. read more

I went in yesterday excited to try this place. I heard that they had very healthy options so I was eager to go see what they were all about. I got in there and the place was clean and big. I was expecting the type of place where you go in and place your order and they make the food fresh in front of you, which is always most healthy way to have it. The place looked clean and there were two people up front talking. I was less then pleased to see that there were two refrigerators off to the side of the building and I learned that all of there food for the day was already per made and delivered from their other location on Keifer blvd and that I would have to grab what I wanted out of the fridge, only to reheat it myself in a conventional oven.I would view this as a somewhat more health option to a T.V dinner. If there is one thing that I have learned from over the years, it is that re heating a product only kills the enzymes that are in the food that are needed for digestion. It was a complete turn off to me to see that all of the food was marked with 50% off labels. I feel that this will actually devalue whatever products that they have to offer, and it also led me to wonder how long the product was sitting on the shelf. I feel that this is more of a convenient food for people on the go, but I was extremely disappointing with the whole reheating thing.
