I've been to her pop ups a few times and there are a couple of issues. First, she isn't very friendly and appreciative of her customers. Second, she rarely has a menu displayed. Third, there are NEVER prices. You usually don't find out how much it is until AFTER you buy. I paid $9 for a small piece of brownie and almost $20 for a mashed potato bowl with chickn. My friend paid $40 for 3 pieces of chickn. What?! She recently had a pop up and it was $20 for a chickn sandwich and it didn't even come with a side. Butcher's Son has amazing sandwiches and they aren't even $20, and theirs comes with a side! She was also at Vegfest 2020 and shut down temporarily? And people were waiting over an hour for their food. And looking at photos, the food looked burned. Also, I've done nothing but show support and posted photos of her food on instagram and tagged her and she blocked me recently and also many of my vegan friends. Um, doesn't make sense? We all supported you and you block us on social media? This business doesn't just need help, it just needs to be shut down completely. Obviously they have a lot of issues and don't want vegan support which will not last long in the vegan community. The food looks and tastes amazing. I really want to love them but... The portions are not represented accurately on their menu and I found myself blocked from their Instagram page without warning. Please note I have only liked the food photos and made positive comments relating the food. I really want to support a local vegan business, but when I asked why I was blocked from their Instagram page, I was met with ignorance and simply told that I can order from their website that will be open the following weekend?? This pop-up was one I really was excited to try. Luckily made an Easter delivery order for my family and we all loved the food. We were a bit disappointed at first because the food didn't quite look like what was posted on the Facebook and Instagram pages. (Note I had to logout of my Instagram account to even view the photos.) Never the less, the fried chick'n was one of the best vegan alternatives we have tasted. The mashed potatoes were nicely seasoned. The bac'n collards were nice but very spicy. There was one less chick'n and corn on the cob piece than picture. One of the chick'n pieces was also burnt... but it was still decently sized meal. After reading other reviews before me, things make a little more sense. I hope the business owner can re-valuate her business strategy and not block potential vegan customers for apparently no legitimate reason. OMG soooo effing good. I'm so serious. I drove here all the way from the bay area just to try it, and I was not disappointed. The potato salad was too spicy for me, but I'm a spice wuss so that wasn't out of the ordinary for me. The fried chicken is BOMB. Go and get some as soon as are you are humanly able. Saw the long line at Vegan Festival last weekend and thought must be something really special. Stood in line for over an hour to order and another 20 minutes to get the food. I ordered the 4 wings half bbq and half spicy. I didn't eat the spicy wings, it was too spicy for me. My bf had them and thought they were alright. I had the BBQ ones and they were nothing spectacular. After all, it's slather with store bought BBQ sauce. I like the concept but what I really didn't like was the price. $12.50 for 4 wings. Are you serious? Also, what you get is not what is pictured on their so-called menu. The picture shows it come with celery sticks but you only get 4 wings. Would I give it another try? Yes!! However, I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. Definitely would not stand in line for over an hour for it either. There were much better options elsewhere. read more

We attended Sacramento pop up at Device Brewing. When it was our time to order we did not know what was being served that day because there was no menu. When asked advice on which the owner preferred her response was very dry. Customer service was poor. We didn't receive everything that we ordered. l see so many reviews stating the food is bomb but they feel that the owner gives them attitude. People really go above and beyond to show their insecurities. I've gone to her pop ups a handful of times because as WE ALL KNOW the food is bomb and given the circumstances with covid, sac heat, having to give out food at a stand bc she doesn't have a kitchen (hence why your food is cold you wonderful human beings) she still manages to showcase her compassion and love for cooking great food and feeding the sac community. My boyfriend and I have been waiting 3 weeks to try their Nashville Hot Chikn Sandwich. This was a highly anticipated trip and we were both super excited to try it, only to be disappointed by the entire experience. After waiting in line eager to try the sandwich, we found out they weren't serving it. We were both a little confused considering it was in the event page details and the cover photo for the event page. Instead, they were serving "tacos". Their tacos consisted of all of the fillings that go on their sandwich, but in an uncooked tortilla. Budget cuts? My boyfriend and I paid $40 for 4 tacos. WAY overpriced. To be fair I waited in a 45 minute line for this at the vegan festival so maybe my expectations were too high. 18.50 basically gets you what is reminiscent of a kfc bowl. It was very bland. Mashed potato are under seasoned and taste like they come from a box. Gravy was bland. Corn is likely frozen and has no flavor. Mac and cheese is also bland. Health inspector came and had them recook everything to get it hotter. Looked like they double fried the chicken and so the coating was hard as a rock, practically inedible. The chewable pieces had good flavoring. I'm assuming the double frying was what made it gross but they should be ashamed of themselves for selling it. Total and complete waste of money. read more

Three stars for this place. The concept is great and the tofu chicken is actually really good! Nice, firm crispy texture with lots of flavor. We had the bowl with mash potatoes, Mac and cheese with the tofu chicken on top. It was a minimal portion for $18.50. I honestly thought it was overprice, only because we cook tons of vegan meals at home now and knowing the cost of things (we buy organic and local as much as possible) , plus the time to make certain things, this was definitely pricey. Mac & Cheese was okay. It needed a bit more flavor..pasta was kind of over cooked. Mash potatoes were a bit watered down. On top of that, the food was cold the last time we had it (Gather Event) since it was just in the tin containers with nothing keeping the food warm? I've tried the much-hyped Atlas Monroe chick'n, and although that was great, I'd pick Compassion Meals if given the choice between the two. We've been to too many CM popups to count, and we've had good experiences each time. The lines can be long, so we try to get there close to the opening time. (We see a lot of "regulars" in line each time, which is kind of fun.) We've also taken advantage of the free delivery feature twice, and it went seamlessly both times.
