This ghost kitchen was one of best fast sushi spots that I have had in a while. There was really nice labeling on everything. Tempura was extremely good and fresh. I love eggplant and we got one piece. The others were carrot, shrimp, broccoli, and maybe a potato? We ordered three hand rolls and they were all delicious and made to order. The sunomono, cucumber salad, was our free item. It was very simple, just vinegary, could be better. The staff was very quick and friendly. It was easy to order online and pick it up. The ambiance was nonexistent, haha. But hey, the prices reflect that. Good prices for good, simple sushi.

I absolutely love this place! Matt (owner) is an amazing sushi chef and chef in general! He takes pride in making sure he gives you the best food as in presentation, taste and service! My favorite sushi place hands down. Fish is fresh and delicious my favorite rolls are the torched rolls it has such a unique flavor that I haven't had at any other sushi restaurant! I order from here about once a week and I am extremely picky about my sushi since I'm from Seattle Washington and they are known for having really good fresh sushi and this place is my favorite place I've been to since moving to Sacramento!

I wish I could give more than five stars!! Everything was so beautiful, delicious, and labeled perfectly. Tons of vegetarian and gluten free options (including gluten free tempura!), and each is separately labeled with custom stickers to tell them apart. Everything is very thoughtfully put together and prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality. We will be back and telling everyone we know!

Super quick service and easy to pick up. Matthew, the owner, even texted us to let us know it was ready for pickup which was very nice! For take out food, it's solid. Everything was labeled well. I enjoyed the customizations for the price. The sushi rice was a tad bit undercooked, but if you're looking for a quick lunch break during work, this would be a great place!

Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Oh my goodness-- everything here has been exceptionally beautiful! I tried the spicy gyozas which was perfectly spiced. The green dragon sushi with brown sauce glaze, crab and shrimp tempura are wonderful. Service was quick and attentive as the young gentleman is very kind and brought out my order after I ringed the bell. Another thing I really appreciated is that they taped their togo bags versus stapling it. I really appreciate that attention to detail as well. I finished my meal and felt satisfied and full. Thank you how we roll for what you do!!!

I'm so obsessed with this place, always made with so much love and fresh salmon! Always makes my day

Such amazing food!! They have so many gluten free options, the owner is well versed in allergies, so many options to choose from. My husband has celiacs and this was the first time he could eat gluten free tempura. We absolutely love this new spot! It is takeaway only but sushi is super easy to eat anywhere so never an issue! Highly recommend!!

The spicy vegetarian gyozas were some of the best I've had. I ordered this on DoorDash and they were decently fast, my food was still warm too.

On the website there is a notice about ordering/delivery issues from GrubHub. Has this issue been resolved?

Unfortunately no, we are more than likely going to not use Grubhub anymore … We brought up this issue multiple times and are being told nothing can be done about it.. but we will remain on Uber Eats and DoorDash

So there's no indoor seating? What does the outdoor seating area look like? Kid friendly?

Hello! We do have some picnic benches available outside where you are able to enjoy your meal after picking up, but we do not have an indoor seating area as we are a ghost kitchen and only specialize in takeout, delivery, and pick up orders. Thank…

I'm glad we arrived when we did bc about 15 mins later there was at least 10 people waiting to be seated. Apps: Hamachi Crudo and Miso Yaki Black Cod I knew the Hamachi was probably going to be meh, but ordered anyway. It was something that I felt like we could all split and have a bite or two of without having to wait too long. Mind you youre paying $4 per slice of dressed up sashimi here. The Black Cod....my guy..... worth every penny. The summer squash soubise alone I could just drown in. Beyond that we opted for the 10 piece nigiri set then followed up with various cuts of other nigiri. Everything was very good, as to be expected. Only negative is the price. Even high end, alot of the stuff is over priced. That would be my only real complaint. A good treat, but wouldn't come outside of a special occassion.

I brought family in from the Bay Area to Chef Frank's, and it did not disappoint. The ambiance strikes that perfect balance--chill and casual, yet still elevated enough for a special occasion. We kicked things off with a mix of plain and spicy edamame, followed by two orders of my husband's favorite shrimp tempura and three orders of my go-to rainbow roll. Everything came out fresh and beautifully presented. A particularly special moment--my 88-year-old father made the trip to Sacramento after seven years (his first visit since my mom passed) and he truly enjoyed the beef/salmon bento box. That alone made the night meaningful. We also ordered additional specialty rolls with unagi and shrimp tempura for the non-celiac guests, and for our main event, the table indulged in three large sashimi platters. The fish was impeccably fresh, artfully arranged over ice--this is where they consistently shine. To top it all off, the birthday girls (my sister and my nephew's girlfriend) were treated to complimentary desserts--cheesecake and panna cotta--which was such a thoughtful touch. The ladies paired the evening with glasses of Cabernet, another personal favorite. Overall, it was a memorable night filled with great food, attentive service, and special family moments. Check out the photos--we had an amazing time! Pro tip: Whether you're dining with a small group or a large party, make reservations to ensure smooth seating.

We always love Japanese food when needing low fat but high protein and moderate carb meals. The food was excellent, and with generous portions: 1. Plain Sunomono - Is nothing but plain. Sliced cold cucumbers in a sweet vinegary sauce served in a huge martini glass. Super refreshing on a hot day and excellent shareable appetizer. (5 stars) 2. Kid's teriyaki meal are designed for under-7 kids but could have easily fed a teen. Generous amount of moist, juicy chicken breast slices, cup of crunchy salad with Asian sesame creamy dressing, huge bowl of rice, and lots of tempura (2 shrimp, one brocolli, and a sweet potato). (5 stars) 3. Sushi Moriwase B was 10 pieces of chef-selected nigiri. Not bad - rice was well seasoned and soft, generally very fresh fish. I'm less a fan of imitation crab and was surprised to see tamago - but hey, protein is protein. (4 stars) 4. Some dishes were on the saltier however, such as the free miso soup and soba noodles - the large comb one with chicken, mushrooms, veggies, and a separate dipping sauce. Definitely recommend Akebono. It was pretty empty when we arrived but during our meal more families and customers began filling in. Guess they need all the space after all!

It's the kind of place that quietly becomes your favorite before you've even finished your first dish. ‍ Service That Feels Like Home From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm, enthusiastic "Irrashaimase!" The hostess was exceptionally engaging--personable without being overbearing--and guided us through the sake menu like a seasoned sommelier of umami. Her thoughtful recommendations led us to a beautiful tasting journey featuring three types of sake: * A classic hot sake for comfort, * A crisp cold sake imported from Japan, and * A smooth and unexpected bottle from Vernon, CA (yes, Vernon--who knew?). Although the tall glasses were emblazoned with Orion Beer branding, we stuck to the sake. No regrets. What We Ate -- A Love Letter to Flavor Every dish was visually stunning and bursting with freshness. Here's what we devoured: * Truffle Hamachi Carpaccio: Thin slices of hamachi bathed in a rich truffle soy, topped with microgreens and salmon roe. Silky, aromatic, and sublime. * Shishito Peppers: Perfectly blistered and dusted with spice. A simple dish that delivered big on smoky flavor. * Sake Nigiri & Tobiko Gunkan: The sake (salmon) nigiri was melt-in-your-mouth fresh, and the tobiko gunkan had just the right briny pop. Clean, classic, perfect. * Negihama Roll: Yellowtail and scallion in delicate harmony--refreshing and elegant. * Spicy Tuna Roll: A fiery flavor bomb, dusted generously with shichimi. Spicy but well-balanced. * Jade Roll: Wrapped in seaweed salad and sesame, this one was fresh, crunchy, and full of herbaceous notes. A standout roll. * Cucumber Sunomono: A palate cleanser and a beautiful contrast to the richness of the fish. Light, crunchy, and seasoned just right with sesame. Ambiance Kumi Sushi's atmosphere is refined but intimate--dim lighting, soft jazz playing in the background, and warm wood tones throughout. It's got date-night vibes without trying too hard. Final Verdict Kumi Sushi is everything you want in a neighborhood sushi spot--just elevated. Thoughtful service, stunning presentation, fresh ingredients, and a sake list that deserves its own night. Whether you're a seasoned sushi snob or just looking for a delicious evening out, this place delivers. 11/10 would truffle hamachi myself into oblivion again. Highly recommended.
