    Carnitas Mixto Bowl
    Gurjot S.

I'm going to start with what I liked the most which was the sauces. The sauces were all pretty good! Out of the 4 sauces I got I'd rank the hot sauce and salsa as the best - the hot sauce was actually spicy which was nice. The green sauce was just okay - it was too watery and not flavorful enough needs a little more spice or something extra. The mole sauce I can't comment on too much since I haven't really had it before but it reminded me of like spicy hot chocolate I wasn't the biggest fan. Okay now the Carnitas Mixto Bowl - I ordered extra carnitas and added chicken to my bowl and there still wasn't enough meat compared to everything else in the bowl. Flavor wise once all the sauces were in it, it wasn't bad but imo it was more mid than anything else. I didnt care for the ensalada/vegetables in the Mixto bowl so I'd say just get the rice bowl. My order (also added as a photo): Carnitas Mixto Bowl No tomatillo Chicken Carnitas Pickled Onion Palmita Hot Sauce Silky Salsa Roja Cilantro Green Sauce x2 Palmita Mole

What a bright, fun, airy space in the Ice Blocks! This place was hopping early in the lunchtime hour. Seemed like a mix between eat-in, to-go and pick-up orders. Fast, friendly service and great food. What more can you ask for? I enjoyed their Baja Green Goddess salad with Impossible chorizo (even though I eat meat) and picked up a vegan banh mi and seasonal BLT for some friends. All were tasty and nicely packed to-go. I look forward to returning to try more things and their different locations.

Inside, also an eclectic mix of seating with vaulted ceilings, cool/rustic lighting -- very much of a cool warehouse feel. I like. The counter order process is a little messy. First, the menu boards...it's a lot of delicious varieties that's hard to remember the exact names to order once you step up to the cashier. But the staff is wonderful, happy service people...that help you out to correct and clarify. My favorites: ============ * Impossible Taco Salad [5.0 stars] -- my favorite salad. * Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad [5.0 stars] -- omg, the chicken. * Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada w/Chicken [4.5 stars] * Saved Drake Farm's Salad w/chicken [4.5 stars] Seasonal favorites: ================ * Seasonal: Tuna on wheat (they are huge) [5.0 stars] * Seasonal "The 8 Hour" Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich [4.0 stars]: Pork was tender, but way too sweet and on grilled panini? Hardly. It was a 6" roll cut in half, and barely toasted or grilled. Plus, it doesn't come with chips, c'mon! That's a necessity in my book! Also: ==== * The Farm Club Sandwich [4.5 stars] * Habanero potato chips by Mama Zuma's...excellent. * Love the soda machine. You won't find Poopsi or Poke here, only Puck's - an all natural, no artificial colors or preservatives (you'll have to bring it from the outside if you want it!). Recommend: The Black Cherry. One peeve: ========== No salt shakers. If you ask, they have to go to the back and bring out a little paper cup worth. Almost making up for it are really nice pepper grinders brought to your table upon request. It is a very casual setup, so do not expect an elevated dining experience. We ordered the FOB shrimp and the Chicken Katsu plate. The shrimp arrived a bit too sour and noticeably greasy for my taste. The Chicken Katsu was average and lacked the flavor and crispness I was hoping for. The macaroni and cheese that came with it was also quite dry, which made the plate feel incomplete. Service is minimal since you order at the counter and pick up your food yourself. I went in with high expectations and left feeling disappointed, especially considering how popular the place seems to be. That said, I am still open to giving it another try. There are a few other dishes on the menu that look promising, and I hope they will deliver a better impression on my next visit.

Honestly, I'm so…read moresad it's been so long since my last visit, because this place serves up some amazing food. The menu changes depending on what they're making, but they have certain items that are pretty consistent. One of those is poke. I LOVE their poke here, they have their own seasoned poke mix with fresh fish, veggies and sauce and it is delicious. They offer it as nachos, a bowl, or loaded fries and while I'm tempted to try some of the other options the bowl is my go-to. The poke bowl is $15 and comes with rice with furikake as well as a good portion of poke. Like I mentioned, it's preseasoned and it delicious. The ingredients are fresh and I love their flavor combination. I would love if the bowl came with a scoop of mac salad, but with the portion at this price I'm happy to add it as a side. I ordered the spring rolls ($4) and it came with five pieces of crispy and flavorful fried spring rolls. Great value for the price. I also ordered the pork laulau ($14) and Musubi ($3) for my husband and the portions on these were also great. The musubi was hot and flavorful and they gave me some FOB sauce with the musubi that went surprising well together. The laulau plate had mac salad, rice, and the wrapped pork. The pork was fattier than some of the laulau I've had in Hawaii, but was flavorful and the whole plate was a perfect portion for the price. The team working here was very friendly and helped me get in and out with my to-go order pretty quickly. The food was packed with care and made it home and was still nice and hot after the drive. They use high quality to-go containers and line them with aluminum foil which is a nice touch. They also made sure the vents were open on the spring rolls so they'd stay crispy. They have plenty of seating inside, as well as some outdoor seating. This restaurant is a bit tucked away, but has plenty of parking. I will definitely be back, and I won't wait as long between visits, because the food is so good! Check out their instagram for specials.

Walked in and instantly greeted by Elena and let me tell you... Elena wasn't taking orders she was basically an offensive coordinator drawing up plays for breakfast lol . I told her it was my first time and she goes "I got you." That's all I needed to hear. She hooked me up with the Berry Blossom Milk Tea, Ultra Violet iced coffee, blueberry muffin and the breakfast burrito with bacon and avocado. Now the drinks? Solid. That Ultra Violet coffee had lavender, caramel and honey all entering the chat at once like they were forming the Avengers . Somehow it worked. Then came the burrito... now listen... at first I'm sitting there like "alright everybody calm down it's just a breakfast burrito." WRONG. This thing came out throwing hands immediately eggs, potatoes, bacon, avocado all packed into this perfectly toasted tortilla. Then the salsa showed up like a surprise guest star and took the whole thing to another level. I almost looked around for somebody's grandma in the back yelling "make sure that boy leaves full!" They even have Vietnamese coffee, teas, and fresh sugarcane squeezed right in front of you! Vietnamese Drip Coffee 4/5* Not as strong as I'd like but considering that they cater to the downtown working demographic, it's still pretty good. You can even customize it to be vegetarian friendly by subbing condensed milk with condensed coconut milk. Bánh Mì with Lemongrass Tri-tip 4/5* The bánh mì overall was satisfying and the ingredients worked well together. The bread had a light crisp on the outside, was fluffy inside, and ratios of the ingredients were balanced. I couldn't taste the lemongrass in the tri-tip, though, so it wasn't worth the extra $ for it. Spicy Wildrice Soup 5/5* I had a sample of their soup before at a pop-up event and knew I had to get the full portion. This soup has a slight kick if you don't eat very spicy like me. The flavors were explosive - intense, creamy, and perfectly salted. There's also fried onions on top for an added crunchy texture. Spring Rolls with Night Market Crispy Tofu 5/5* First off, these spring rolls are not your average roll. They are the size of the container itself and stuffed to the max. There's so many veggies that you feel light after eating this meal. I chose the crispy tofu as protein and it's the best! The tofu was actually crispy, wasn't oily or soggy, and had a ton of flavor from the seasonings. Dipped in peanut sauce, this was so delicious! The fish was perfectly coated with breadcrumbs that added to each bite into the soft, kind of melt on your mouth, fish. Not sure what sauce they used but it was just enough, not overpowering, and didn't make the experience messy. The slaw/veg was just enough.
