I signed up for the one week trial and had a great time! I was only able to attend four classes,…read morebut enjoyed each one. The instructors were really helpful and gave me some modification options. It would probably help to have some background knowledge of common lifts, but the instructors show the movements and they play on video screens if you need it. Everyone attending was generally in their own zone, so there isn't a lot of chatting because you really focus on getting the exercises done in the set times. I will say that the classes go by super quickly because you're always moving. Cons: The programming is set for the whole month. So each day of the week has its set program and you do that each week for the whole month. For me, this would get old (I really need variety). On the plus side, it does mean you get to see active gains throughout the month. The membership plan is a little pricey. I get why it costs so much, since they do have to cover rent and you only really attend during the class sessions. It isn't a type of gym where you just drop in when you want to use certain equipment. The unlimited monthly membership is $299, but in reality you are getting 30 or 31 classes depending on the month. Since the classes are the same all day, it is unlikely you would do two classes in a day, right? So the pricing is about $10/class if you do the unlimited monthly pass and you go every day. Some of the equipment was pretty smelly. I was at one station that honestly made me gag a little... I think the bench or maybe the dumbells had never been thoroughly cleaned with a bleach solution.

Always a great workout, well maintained facilities and the community is great. Highly recommend.read more

About a year and half ago my blood pressure was 160/80 (VERY HIGH FOR MY AGE). I was actually…read morerushed to a hospital because they thought I was having a heart attack, given the pains I was feeling in my chest. The hospital ran its own tests and, luckily, it was not a heart attack. In that moment, I knew I needed to make changes in my life. During the time I had experienced the chest pains, I was studying for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exams and working at an accounting firm. My work days ran really late, which is probably similar to many people in the CD Fit class. I also maintained a horrible diet, consisting of fast food and greasy Haitian food, and did minimal exercise. The amount of mental and physical exhaustion that I was experiencing at this time greatly contributed to my blood pressure being high. I then decided that my health had to be priority if I wanted to get the fullness of life, so I decided to leave that firm and continue my life in the DMV. A friend told me of the CD Fit class since they had been doing CD Fit for a while, and they shared with me the class link and told me about their experience with it so I tried out the free period membership pass. I literally almost passed out my first day in CD Fit. In fact, I was told to lay down and put my legs up to get blood to my upper body. Nevertheless, I didn't give up. Clarance, who is the owner and trainer of CD Fit really pushed the class members to fight for their health. Certain exercises seemed unusual but were doable. The women in the class out did me most of the time but as I got stronger I noticed that I did better. I continued to come after the first day and gave it my all again, although I felt like passing out. I didn't want to be embarrassed again so I kept the passing out part to myself and recovered in my car. My endurance was at an all-time high and my body striations were more visible than anytime before. I had lost 30 pounds - from 189lbs to 159lbs and my blood pressure was much better at 128/73. These results are due to the CD Fit training which helps with the physical build and informing participants about eating better through healthy, lean meals. Its an all in one fitness strategy that has gotten me closer to my health goals.

I hadn't worked out in a long time and this was REALLY tough, but I felt like it was okay to start where I started. Updated review - the guy who runs runs CD Fit (Clarence, not the Silver Spring trainer) was completely obnoxious to me by phone. I told him and he never apologized. Too bad. Changed my review from five to two stars. Poor customer service for something you liked is the worst. But, the money goes to the obnoxious guy ... so I can't recommend that.

Facilities were clean, modern, and quite premium (even the products available in the bathrooms/showers). The room the course is in is lit up with red lights, music is loud, energetic, and fun but not deafening, and the instructor is clear, full of energy, kind, and while firm they do not single you out or force you to do anything at all which was greatly appreciated (sometimes you just need a quick break on your own) If you enjoy class style workouts, would definitely recommend.

I was totally intimidated the first time I came in- four months later- not only has my Vo2 max skyrocketed, but I have greater definition in my abs, a stronger body, and an overall higher fitness level and confidence. The instructors are dope- from Lydia who helped me survive my first class and gave thoughtful recs to Rain, Johnny, Justin, and Phil- who have kept pushing me and everyone ar Barry's. Each has their own strength and style, but the baseline standard is always top notch. Loretta and the faculties team keep the space amazingly spotless, welcoming, and inclusive perfect working condition (lights, showers, products, filtered water, towels etc)! The smoothies are delicious! I'm a member of equinox, I love Solidcore, but the entire Barry's experience puts this place - and members experience - on a whole different level. I believed the branding about an intense and impactful workout, but I thought the talk of inclusion and kindness was just marketing. The DuPont team has proved me wrong! Toughest workout, best ppl around. Come check it out!

If you are considering signing for trial classes and are perusing this page for reviews - good for…read moreyou for doing your due diligence. No matter what shape you are in, who you will be entrusting your body to is very important. I can say with full confidence that every single one of the what? three bad reviews? Of Sweatbox  should be cast aside because they are irrelevant since none of them talk about the actual sweat method and what it does to your body. Firstly, if you are worried if fat shaming/ageism exists here. The answer is a firm NO. I am older, I am overweight , and I was  welcomed with open arms, made a part of the family immediately, and that has not changed since the first class. I went to one OrangeTheory location a year or so back and was full on fat-and-age shamed and that made my self esteem spiral down into dark abyss for a very long time. Because words hurt, because I am already so vulnerable and frightened to cross the threshold of the gym, I need support, not otherwise. SweatBox is all welcoming, all inclusive type of place. Yes, they are located inside an exact copy of the Globo Gym from Dodgeball, (I got jokes) but just walk to the back of the first floor, to the Sweatbox counter, as far as I understand, gym and them are two separate entities. I purchased a 7-day, $34.00 unlimited trial pass online, came 30 minutes early for the instruction session (important to come early, instructors won't say no to you if you show up 5 minutes prior to class, but ultimately you are shorthanding yourself on the instruction part - don't you want to know as much as you can about bike set up, and components of training? And remember that instructors have other student s  to take care of prior to class) I began my training on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 and I made sure to come every day, dragging my self in sometimes, even if my body screamed to go get nachos instead. The instructors I've experienced during the trial week were: Alexx G Shawn M Kevin D Ashley D I loved all the instructors, Alexx is all tough love, just as described in his bio, but I love his light show and music choices. Kevin has an amazing aura and energy and makes you feel included. Then comes Ashley, wow. I don't know if she somehow hypnotizes the class, but you get in the zone, stop thinking of outside world, and all you focus on is her voice, her example poses, and her corrections, nothing else. At the end of the class, when you finally come to, you realize that you worked out for a full hour and  never looked at the clock once! Shawn is a rare soul. I have my collection of special, big hearted people, the list is short, but Shawn is on it. First of all the energy during his classes is through the roof, he is so charismatic, you WANT to do good to show him your appreciation. But my experience with him is also more personal. When I felt embarrassed, questioned myself, felt weak, cried like a baby after second class, Shawn in the gentlest of ways supported me, was there for me, helped me get past those hurdles and I cannot be more thankful. He always has words of encouragement, listens with attention, he is present. What an amazing human being. To sum up - 15 lbs. down (results will vary of course) and I signed up for an unlimited monthly. They got me good.

I signed up for a free intro class with my girlfriend who normally does these things. For my first…read morespinning experience, I liked how hard spinning pushes you. Combined with the music and the trainer giving you encouragement, spinning can be a really good cardio workout. It almost feels competitive with all the numbers and colors on the TV screens too. However, I don't understand the hype with $20-40 spin classes when I can do the same workout at the gym and push myself just as hard. I suppose it's worth it if you need that extra push, but I can't really afford $20-40 per class when i can get a membership at the gym for $30 a month. This was more of a hybrid spin/core class that utilizes TRX trainers, so there's that. And they do provide you with a heart rate monitor strap that gauges how hard you're working and calculate what intensity you should be at based on your endurance. The class itself was a 1:1 that introduced everyone to how a real class would go. We learned the basic movements on the TRX trainers and then were taught how to use the bikes. But it felt really rushed. The trainer was speaking so fast, I couldn't even really understand half of what he was saying. All in all, i got a good workout in though and I enjoyed the cold scented towel at the end.

And Orangetheory is by far one of the most fun and effective workouts I've ever done. I've been to a couple of the instructors so far and they are all pretty good but I find Alex to be the most motivating. She plays the best music too! This studio is not quite as big as some of the other locations around here but if I can get on my favorite treadmill then I'm good to go! I can't wait for my next class!

I signed up online but I never…read morereceived an email to register for a class so I just called and was able to schedule a noon class for the next day. OT is in a prime location near Chinatown. There was an option to park in the garage - free for 90 mins (not sure if that's a first client deal or what) but the garage was full! I ended up paying for 2 hour street parking. I arrived thirty minutes early like I was instructed and filled out paperwork. They had lockers, two bathrooms, two showers. My friend and I were given towels and water. Lockers were available for free with their own lock also. Laura (I think) was her name - explained mostly everything we needed to know and our instructor Razi added in. As far as the class, you get a heart rate monitor to record your stats which show up on the tv screen in the workout room. It is a combination of interval training on the treadmill, rower, and lifting/ab work which the instructor navigates the class through for 55 minutes. We started on the rowers, then did lifting/abs, and ended with the treadmill! I burned 400 calories!! This class was more than amazing and Razi made us feel comfortable and checked up on us frequently. It was definitely hard and you have to push yourself to finish strong ! I would totally recommend this class and at lest try it for free ! The studio was clean and the workers were very nice!
