What a gem in Victoria!! This place is a delicious Indian spin on the Canadian classics and I def recommend. So much flavor in each dish. Everything seemed so well thought out. The staff were very welcoming and kind. The ambiance is casual. I'm so glad we tried this place and I wish them the best!

This place was so good! We were able to be seated right away which was good since it was pouring out. The mussels were our favorite. We loved the soup that came in the mussels

We were in town for the Canada Dry dragon boat festival and made reservations at Fishook because the menu was very intriguing - a marriage of Indian tradition and PNW seafood. We were greeted immediately and shown our table. It's a very small and cute place. Drink orders followed. We opted to try the house-made ginger'd mint & lime soda. We started with salmon pekoras followed by the biryani and the halibut daily Katch (as recommended by our server). The staff is very friendly. The sodas were awesome! Very refreshing. The pekoras were also fantastic. Flaky salmon in a chickpea batter served with a cooling sauce and some chili oil. The portions are very generous. The halibut was a great recommendation. The fish was well prepared and the spices really lent a good flavor. The tandoori salmon on the biryani was also well prepared and the biryani itself was great. Again, the seafood portions were generous. When you're in Victoria, make a reservation and try Fishhook (the did have to turn away a number of diners who didn't have reservations).

Best meal of our trip to Victoria! The food was amazingly flavored, and it was interesting as we were not familiar with fresh fish and seafood combined with Indian spices. So delicious and seafood was handled perfectly. Even delicate squid was tender in the biryani. We had great service when we arrived and through ordering. Very helpful discussing the menu. We loved everything we ordered, especially the mussels and The Belly tartine. These were both exciting in flavor and texture. The bread they were served with was crispy, light and delicious. We also enjoyed the seafood kaftka and the aforementioned bireyani. The pickles were a wonderful way to start the meal. The food was both familiar and unusual. If we lived here, I'm sure we'd come often. Our only complaint was no one came to clear our used dishes and discuss dessert. We couldn't even catch someone's attention for more than 10 minutes, and the restaurant was quiet at this point in the evening. We finally got someone's attention and ordered the ganache. So happy about that too. Rich, smooth, chocolaty, topped with berries and cardamom coconut cream. Delicious. Glad we had the patience to wait for the server to put down their phone to wait on us. So different than the start of the meal though!

Food was amazing. Fish perfectly cooked. The people are super friendly. The fish chowder was very flavorful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Delicious and such friendly service! The shrimp tartine and biryani with squid were the standouts! Definitely make a recommendation if possible- pretty much all the tables were reserved and taken by 7!

Enjoyed the unique flavors of Fishhook for dinner. My partner and I enjoyed the biryani and pondicherry. We were fortunate to get a table for an early dinner before diners with reservations arrived. Will make a reservation next time as it's a small restaurant. Friendly staff.

Fresh off the ferry and my family was starving. Browsed through Yelp and found Fishhook. Fishhook is off the Main Street in Victoria, small restaurant with several tables. Service was great- was sat and attended to right away. My kids all ordered Fishhook's freshly made sodas with mango and anise- delicious. I tried a cocktail with a local gin. Several of us ordered the fish and chips- so delicious with a homemade remoulade, red cabbage slaw, and delicious fries with unique seasoning. My daughter ordered a salmon and curry- outstanding. I love the unique splash of Indian flavors with seafood. This place is a must try!

Lovely Indian fish place with a dedicated GF fryer and many GF options. I was thrilled to try breaded and fried cod, wow! Yummy baked halibut with chana, papadam and quinoa, veggie pakora app. All delish, didn't get glutened! Wonderful service, lovely family business for over 15 years, don't miss!

Visited Fishhook for dinner on a Friday evening with a party of 6. We had 5:00pm reservation that we made the prior day. The restaurant has one table that can accommodate 6-8. Everyone in our group loved the restaurant. We ordered the Poutine, the hot pot, the fresh catch (halibut), Pekoras (halibut), and wine from BC. Service was really good. Everyone working at the restaurant is passionate about the food they service which makes ordering and trying even more fun. The fish/mussels are locally sourced another huge plus! Can't say enough great things!

A very good and pleasantly surprising spot! We were wanting to try red fish blue fish but didn't know that they were closed for the season, so we ended up here instead. I didn't realize that this spot had Indian and French influences, which added a really nice and interesting twist on the food! We came at lunch time and got the fish and chips as well as the fishhook chowder. The fish and chips were great - super crispy fish on top of a bed of nicely seasoned thin masala fries. The chowder was also good, but not entirely what I expected. It was thin, and more soup like rather than a thick clam chowder, but it had nice pieces of fish inside and a good coconut flavor that I enjoyed. Service was friendly, the ambiance was pleasant, and they brought out the food fresh and hot really quickly! I was overall quite pleased with this spot for lunch.

Hubby (all dressed up for church!) and my chai cream soda.

Side: Brussels Sprouts ($13) Interesting how they serve just the leaves here (no stems). I found the cheese topping a little too much but some others at our table enjoyed them. Side: Sautéed Mushrooms ($14) They were good, but the portion size was underwhelming as everyone at the table noticed. It came with potatoes and vegetables which were cooked well. Caesar Salad ($18) Shareable between 2 people, this was tasty. Kid's Meal - Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($14.50) It may be a little disappointing considering the price (drink is still optional) but they did use thick-slice Texas Toast and the fries were from fresh potatoes. Missouri Buttercake ($15.50) The good folks of Missouri are lucky to enjoy this tasty treat! === 3. SERVICE We had a lady from Ireland serve us and she was fantastic and patient with our large group and my little one! === 4. Wheelchair's may or may not ingress not fit easily. Beyond that, the envvironment what clean and not unlike many darker-toned steakhouses around the continent. Parking is the big challenge - during tourist season in Victoria, you may be hard-pressed to find a street spot or decently priced parking garage in downtown Victoria!

Right at the door, they told us we'd be "needing to wait." We waited over 30 minutes before finally being seated. Once seated, another 20 minutes passed with no water and no acknowledgment from staff. It felt like we'd been placed in the restaurant's awkward introvert corner. Finally, a disrespectful waitress acknowledged us, took our drink orders, and then we waited another 20-30 minutes just for a simple glass of milk for our 10-year-old. By then, the kid was already eyeing the exit. Our waitress approached with the warmth and enthusiasm of a DMV employee on a Monday morning. Her attitude was dismissive and condescending from the start--acting like our presence was an imposition on her perfect day. We ordered: my partner chose the Wild Mushroom Agnolotti, I went for the Aura 6 oz Beef Striploin and a Margherita, and our child ordered a cheeseburger. Thirty minutes later, with our hungry and restless child losing patience, I politely asked for an update. The waitress responded with a condescending tone, "This isn't a fast food joint." I immediately asked to speak to the manager, who, to their credit, handled it professionally and did their best to de-escalate. The food finally arrived--and surprisingly, it was really good. The steak was solid, the agnolotti hit the mark, the burger kept the kid happy, and the Margherita was decent. After that, we had minimal interaction with our server, which honestly was a relief. The food was the bright spot amid an otherwise miserable experience. The slow, disorganized service, her snarky attitude, and the feeling that we were treated like second-class citizens the moment we arrived with a child left a terrible taste that no steak could remove. The high prices only made the disappointment sting more. I will never recommend Aura Waterfront to anyone visiting Victoria, BC. If you're traveling with kids, especially, steer clear--you'll be treated as an inconvenience rather than a valued guest. Save your money and sanity for somewhere that actually appreciates your business.

We called around and other places didn't have any spots open until after 9pm so we booked on Open Table easily a few hours before. From the moment we arrived everything was great. Hostess was courteous and seated us quickly. Our server was friendly and prompt and checked on us regularly to make sure everything was great. We ordered oysters, double smash burger,Seafood Tagiatelle, Laksa and the Steamed Mussels and Clams with fries. Everything was awesome but the oysters stole the show. The next day, while my wife and oldest and youngest were out on a bike tour, I stopped back at Ferris' with my middle since she was sick and we did takeout for her the night before (extra Laksa). We sat at the bar and order three half dozen oysters and tucked it up with Will the bartender and the rest of the staff as it was happy hour and not too busy. I asked questions about Canadian musicians and we played a game of guess the Canadian artist on Spotify. Again, the oysters were wonderful and the beers were the perfect company to wash down the briny mollusks. We left to meet up with the rest of the family. Upon hearing of our exploits back at Ferris' we all decided to head back to catch the end of happy hour and have dinner. Well five more dozen oysters, chowder, beers later, we finally had our fill and happily rolled out of there and back to our hotel.
