I think this is my first time ever being a Y member! This is affordable and perfect for myself and kids. The location is super convenient which means we will get lots of use! So far we have been enjoying ourselves. We spend most of the time at the pool. The pool hasn't ever been crowded but we haven't been on the weekends. Every quarter til, they blow the whistle for "adult only swim". That is cool and makes the kids take a break and also I good time to leave if you can't get your kids away. We also signed up for swim lessons. I'm not a huge fan of the swim program this far. No opportunity to make up missed lesson and they are short staffed. We probably won't continue once school starts. The instructor seems to not be able to engage all kids in the group lesson and my kid did his own thing the entire 30mins. I attended a cycling class and that was fun. They have a "summer concert series" theme going on. Childcare is available and convenient. I love this option. There is a subway on site which we have used multiple times when we don't pack snacks for the pool. Over all, we love it here! read more

I always thought when you reached retirement they become your golden years. So we are to stay healthy and active. It's obvious that the flicker in our life is closer to ending than starting a new life at birth. It's very obvious that the y is more focused on the dollar because they know kids bring in the money why the why cannot cater to the elderly is beyond me. We don't ask for much room when we get together and play. The seniors is always the ones that have to give up their time and space when the weather acts up. I would like to suggest that the why doesn't take on any more children than they can handle without expecting other people to give up their time at the y. Furthermore I hope that a lot of seniors start complaining about how we are pushed aside because of bad management let's start complaining seniors. read more

I haven't used the facilities at this location yet, but the guest services attendant was kind, helpful, fast and efficient. Unfortunately, she was manning the station alone and was not able to give me a guided tour, but I was able to walk around alone and check it out. This location is much smaller than the Irsay Center in Downtown Indy, so I plan to visit other locations in the area that have more amenities to offer. read more

This is my first year at the Y, and the experiences so far were great. Until this weekend when my nieces and I went to swim, a life guard told them they weren't allowed to play with the pool noddles. Funny thing is other people had them already in the pool... but she decided to tell my nieces not to play with them. Another incident with that same employee (lifeguard) is when we came to swim, she was playing and swimming with another employee instead of doing their job. They acted like children around members (people who pay for their experience) and did it for quite some time. There's also multiple times the life guards just sit and talk, on their phones, or not even paying attention to the pool or people in there. So be sure to only go to the Y if you and your children are able to swim safety because there's no professionalism or safety there. read more

This is such a great place for us. I have enjoyed their youth sports for my kiddo since he was a little tot! In fact, I loved it so much that I joined the team (no pun intended!) and got hired on part time in the Sports Department (which is now many years ago!). Everyone who works there is so passionate about making this a great experience for the kids to get moving and get started with sports. There are the basics like basketball, T-ball, soccer, and flag football not to mention Tot Kwon Do, Judo and Gym & Swim. The coaching is often done by our super fabulous parents and volunteers, but many times it is our wonderful staff who steps in to coach. The director provides guidance and good structure. I really don't know what I would do if my kiddo wasn't able to spend his summers at their summer camp. They have regular camp, artsy-camps, sports-camps, camps with special focus and content. The preparation that goes into doing a camp is enormous, and it pays off with great fun for the kids, and is a safe place that gives some measure of comfort for the parents as well. They have very strict pick-up rules, and make drop-off soooo easy, too. The rest of the facility is wonderful as well, and the staff is top-notch. read more

I've been a member about two weeks now and have been loving most things about it. They have a ton of fun group exercise classes, ranging from the typical (step aerobics, cardio boot camp) to some interesting ones (hip hop zumba, piloxing--a combo of pilates and boxing). There's a pretty large-size room filled with cardio equipment, weight machines, and free weights. Unfortunately, their Fitlinxx tracking system is being eliminated at the end of the year, so if you want a way to keep track of what you're lifting, you're on your own. There's a Subway inside the Y where you can grab lunch or dinner before heading out, and you don't need to have your children as members in order to use the Child Watch. All the single ladies: this isn't the gym to hit if you want to scope out hot single guys---so far, everyone I've seen appears to be married. #toobadsosad read more

Have had good experiences at the Fishers location but feel they really dropped the ball this summer. Called to ask about the outdoor pool hours and was informed that the outdoor pool will be closed on Sundays FOR THE SUMMER! This is our family day and in past years we have spent it at their pool. Apparently, they have plenty of staff at this location to cover the pool, but, are not opening due to OTHER locations not having staff for their pool on Sundays. This is a real disappointment for the members and their families who spend their Sundays there. read more

This used to be a great gym. However, it has really gone downhill. For the price ($75/month), it could be much, much better. Too crowded, closes at 9 pm or earlier, and it always smells like a Subway sandwich shop no matter where you go in the gym (gross). Half of the group classes are an additional charge, which is ridiculous. Rude staff at the front desk. Other gyms in the area offer much more amenities, aren't always packed, and are cheaper. read more

This Place has gone down in the last 3 years, took a look See today & Was Not Impressed At all! Out door pool was Major Cloudy & didn't look to clean to me! Went in to Workout, No help had to Ask a young man to show me how to set up an Exercise Mach. & he wasn't to sure how to do it, but found it after trying several buttons. Fort Ben Y has This place way beat big time!! Just further to drive!! Would NOT RECOMMEND THIS YMCA to use! read more

I have been to a few YMCAs, but this was my first one in the Greater Indianapolis Area. I was very impressed as soon as I walked in; in comparison to other YMCAs I have been to, this one was by far the nicest. The fitness center was clean, and had plenty of equipment, as well as a great variety. The locker rooms were SO nice, and this location even includes an indoor lap pool, baby pool, and hot tub (with jets!). Additionally, there was a very nice outdoor pool, basketball/sport courts, and even an in-facility Subway! I feel like I could have spent the whole day here - there was so much to do, the facility was very clean and well kept as I previously mentioned, and everything was very comfortable and convenient. They even have towels you can borrow during your time there - a great added perk! If I lived closer to the Fishers area, there would be now doubt that I would have a membership! read more

I was really sad that the YMCA took Covid as an excuse to stop offering services. No more free yoga classes, but you can take all you want for only $40 more per month is not protecting anyone. No more guest passes or visiting other YMCAs out of town, though the competition still has it. No more towel service, though the competition still has it again. The only indoor pool for kids was "open", but not when they have an adult class, and it had classes about 75% of the time so kids weren't able to use it, but zero classes were scheduled in the barely used adults only lap pool last I saw. They kept the outdoor pool open far too long since it got cold out, and kept the indoor pool for kids closed until the weather forced them. They finally reopened the hot tub (again, their competition didn't close), but too little too late. The music in the locker rooms was Christian (a plus for me), but they blasted sleazy songs over the outdoor speakers that I hope my kids didn't hear. I like the organization and original mission, but all told they quit offering about 80% of why I was a member (without paying extra fees) and happily kept their prices the same. Sadly, for about $8 more per month, the competition has nicer facilities, with all you could want & much more to offer that the Y never had. Sorry YMCA, but you've lost your way. If they go back to serving their customers, I will probably never know, as my family much prefers our new gym with nicer facilities that are open for just a few dollars more. read more

Great workout area. The gym seems to always be crowded with other events going on. Would be nice if one of the gyms had more hours for open gym shoot around. The subway here is a waste of money for what you get. The Lady that works there refused to toast my sandwich and barely put any veggies on it. This location is awesome! The staff is always very friendly and the set up of the facility is very nice. Plenty of machines to use when exercising. TV's are located throughout with each screen playing something different, so that's nice. There is the adult pool and the kid pool. Both are great! I personally love all the activities and classes the Y offers. It really is great way to get involved with the community and continue to do activities you enjoy! This location has a St Vincent Physical Therapy center attached to it. If you hurt yourself but aren't sure if you should see a doctor for your injury St. V provides free injury checks to the public. You don't have to be a Y member to take advantage of that! They are about 10 to 15 minute checks, so they won't take long at all. Plus they don't need any paperwork, you just give them your name and they let you know what time a therapist has a available that day. A lot of people I've met here working out have told me they usually sync up their workout times at the Y with their St V physical therapy appointments. So it's pretty convenient all around! read more

3.5- (begin singing village people song if you haven't already) In an effort to bring sexy back (again), the wife and I signed up to join the Y a few weeks ago. They had a special no membership fee weekend, so we cashed in. From what I am told, this is the newest Y (read best) in the Indy area. The facility is pretty big. It's got 3 pools, indoor and outdoor bball courts, a subway onsite, and of course weights and cardio galore. The coolest thing about the Y in my opinion is their weight machines. A Y trainer will sit down with you, create a workout with the machines, and you can track your progress electronically. It tells you what weight and spec you should be setting the machine, how much you've lifted, how many times you've lifted, etc... And it's all included in the basic membership. They also have classes such as BOSU, spinning, Zumba, pilates, yoga, etc... I think the pilates and yoga might cost extra, but again, the rest is included in the membership. I've only balled there once, and they were playing "prison rules" so I'm going to have to leave my country club game at home. This is a fantastic YMCA location. We are members and have a one year old daughter. The child care here is just so fantastic to have available. You can leave your child with the staff for up to two hours. This is longer than we ever have, but it's great to be able to get in a full fitness class and not feel rushed. The staff is supportive and friendly. We haven't had any negative interactions and really feel that the people here are involved because they value the mission of the YMCA. The facility has a large indoor pool, another large indoor splash pool, an outdoors pool and splash park. It has a cycling room, and a very large indoor gym area. Of course it has a weight room. There's also an indoor play place that's great for waiting for your significant other with the baby. Lastly, there's a Subway indoors! We don't typically eat at Subway, but I have to say that after a day of work and a lin workout, sometimes it's a nice option to be able to sit with my wife and baby and have a quick sandwich to save time cooking. I highly recommend this Y. Last tip! If you are pressed financially, make sure to check and see if you are eligible for financial aid. Be prepared to bring your pay stub. read more

It's become on of my favorite go-to places during the week. Yes, having a membership to a gym is obviously a financial commitment, but it's a worthwhile one when you find the right gym. The thing that has stood out the most is that a few of their staff have gone above and beyond on helping me work in my PT routines with the equipment - adjusting it and helping me use it correctly. Believe me, that's a huge help when you're not a regular weight machine user. The equipment itself is always clean and I see most patrons cleaning up after themselves each and every time they leave a station. I love the YMCA and have been going with my family for as long as I can remember, even now we still go. We also have a membership that we use very often. The YMCA is for all ages and though its mostly for family's there's still a lot of stuff to do. The YMCA is mostly known for its swimming pools, in total the YMCA has 3 pools, a slide, a spray park, a hot tub, and a little pool for younger children. However, that's not all the YMCA also provides a large gym, daycare, plenty of activities for all ages, and more. My brother plays basketball there, he has lots of fun and has made some friends. Personally, I like the e-gym, the e-gym is a portion of the gym that you just have to scan your wrist band then the weights and adjustments to the machine are set up for you. It's perfect for beginners! Also, I've had great experiences with people who work there, they are very nice and helpful. -SP read more

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Fishers Summer Day Camp 2022. No "camp like" activities provided, no games, no songs. At least at Fishers YMCA it should have been called summer day care. My nine yr. old did make bracelets, thanks to another child who brought his own supplies from home and shared with other "campers ". On "Tie-Dye" day, the "counselors " prepped some of the items the children brought from home rather than teach the kids how to do it. Then the counselors dyed the items while the children watched. Pristine facility with everything you could need in the weight room, all types of cardio equipment, spinning room, indoor and outdoor pools & hot tub, basketball courts which often have pickup games, and great locker rooms. Only thing I miss is a sauna but that is a true luxury for such an affordable monthly rate. We signed up for a month of swim lessons, our two toddlers. We paid the whole month, and decided to not tell us upfront that they were cancelling the last two sessions for the month. It has been a very difficult time for the folks there with Covid but they have soldiered through, and I really appreciate that. Friendly staff, plenty of equipment, variety of programs and classes for all fitness types and levels...and an outdoor water park! YAY! This is a great facility that has so much to offer, but that is also why it gets 4 stars instead of 5; there comes a point when a facility begins to outgrow itself. Sometimes there are treadmill classes that interfere with individuals being able to just hop on machines, or tween classes where the staff have trouble corralling the "students" in the fitness equipment area, or there are just simply SO MANY people in the parking lot you can't even get in (only happened a couple times). However, most of the time it's GREAT, the staff are helpful, facilities immaculate, and equipment up to par. I have taken the cycling classes, zumba classes, and a hip-hop class. Other than my husband being injured when the bike broke off into his ankle (lawsuit settled), the classes offered fun and well-prepared instructors. The zumba and hip-hop were UBER FUN and the fit-chic in the front (unlike in other gyms) didn't leave you behind or make you feel like an idiot when you didn't keep up like a New York dancer or when you had to stop because you haven't left your couch in months. The classes are popular though, some more than others, so you may have to get to some early; and the cycle classes require signing up. My husband uses the free-weights more than I do and most of the time getting the bench isn't an issue, just beware that during peak hours it may be harder to get on a bench or on a treadmill. The treadmills and most equipment have 30 min limits with sign-up sheets, but a lot of people don't bother with them. During busy times you'd be smart to do so because they have been known to ask people to get off in order for people who've signed up to get on. Elipticals near the physical therapy area don't have sign-up sheets and are first-come-first-serve. They do have Wifi, have found that the Y Wifi works on the main area, but can never get streaming to work so it's pretty pointless; however, on the physical therapy side you can access the St. Vincent Wifi and stream Netflix pretty consistently, which is what I do. Lastly, all the staff is helpful, but, I have to put in a word for one of the staffers specifically, Rita. She sometimes gets a bad rap for being a bit stern, and, yes, she is strictly by the book (took us a couple years to earn her warm welcome). But, she is a gem and I look forward to seeing her every time now. By-the-book Rita earns 5 stars from me! read more

I love this place! The price is not bad! The gym equipment is nice. I have a couple of things I don't like. The older front desk lady stares judgmentally at me and always looks at my tattoos. My card was badly torn up but literally worked at scanning me in. I didn't hear her when she said it didn't work and thought you recommended me getting a new one. I said I can get it after I'm done. She said in a very stern voice "no go get it now " I got a replacement card and explained that I was sorry and I didn't hear that my card wouldn't scan. She WAVED HER HAND at me and rolled her eyes. Do not like her at all. I work in retail and if I treated a customer like that ? I'd get written up. But most of the staff is very nice. read more

Good luck finding a parking spot here.... this place is so busy no matter what time I go! Which is GREAT! Nothing creepier than a huge empty gym to me. I really like the Fitlinxx system where a personal trainer builds a custom workout routine for you and all you have to do is type in your 5 digit member code and all the connected machines has your workout ready. I never remember what position my seat/back and what weight I have to lift. This system makes it super easy just go to one of the weight areas example chest press enter your 5 digit pin and it tells you how many reps and has your range of motion recorded too. Now what would make this 5 stars worthy is if the figured out how to integrate it with the other Indy Y's! The staff is super friendly and helpful. read more

We've been members of the Y for several years now and primarily visit this branch. In my experience, the group ex classes (which are my favorite way to work out) are superior to other Y branches. The instructors are qualitfied, spirited and FUN! They have a great mix of classes, from dance-focused to strength and toning. The facility has highs and lows. The highs: -clean -well stocked with towels -REALLY like that it's on one floor -classes are offered ALL the time -awesome childwatch -equipment is updated often and it very high quality -generally nice staff -indoor pool, which is great for the kiddos in the winter -you can visit any Indy Y with your membership The lows: -terrible locker rooms, feels like a high school gym locker room. eek! -no sauna -a small play area structure (when compared to other branches) -children's classes (gymnastics, music, etc) OFTEN get cancelled due to enrollment--i think the ratio has to be 6 enrolled for 1 teacher, which i find to be very high. -Lifeguards: some are very tuned-in when watching the kid's pool, but others are clearly there for social hour, lots of talking in groups with backs turned to the pool and wearing shoes (SHOES!) when in the guard chair. I mean, yes, please swiftly swim to my drowning child in high tops! All in all, it's a good facility that offers a lot of options for working out or playing with the family. Compared to other cities, the Indy Y's are about as low cost as you can get--membership fees fluctuate depending on the city in which they are located. It's good bang for your buck. read more

This is one of the best YMCAs I have ever stepped into. The childcare has a play and learn environment and I am higher impressed. The children are treated very well the staff at the fishers YMCA interact with the kiddos and infants. My son loves going to play and learn. It's very clean and organized. The wellness center is also very clean and all machines are always up and working/running. My husband and son love the outdoor pool it's very clean and fun. This place is one of the greater ymcas. I do recommend being a club member here. read more

Although this gym can be quite busy at times, the amenities make it worth while. The childcare is ran efficiently and organized, children are played with and treated respectfully. The indoor and outdoor pools are top notch, and well maintained. Men and women's locker rooms are accommodating with blow dryers, plenty of towels, with complementary shampoo and body wash in the showers. They have a large wellness room with lots of equipment. Many classes are included in membership. A play area for the kids with climbing, slides, and a hockey table (no membership required for this perk). I fully support and encourage the Christian approach, and appreciate the verses as I walk in, and on the walls. We love this gym! read more

I've been a member here since the start of the New Year--yes, I'm one of those people. Resolutions! Parking is pretty tight, but you always find a spot. Despite it being busy, I've never had a problem getting the equipment I want no matter the time. A lot of the classes do fill up though, so if you plan on attending give yourself a 5 min cushion. I wouldn't expect to stroll in late after the music has started and get a spot. Love the open courts for pick up bball and volleyball. I haven't tried out the pool yet, but I'm looking forward to it. So many nice perks and add ons that make the Y worth the little extra per month compared to a franchise gym. They offer corporate and family discounts- be sure to check out your options! read more

I absolutely adore the Fishers YMCA! Always incredibly clean, and the staff is super friendly. They have enough equipment that I've never had to do the stare off while waiting for weights or a treadmill, and we all know how awkward the stare off can be. Bizzare experience. Woman named Rita was astonishingly rude to the point where other staffers and folks waiting in line were visibly uncomfortable. At issue: The prime card we had been using the past 4 times to gain entry is apparently not a valid form of entrance ID. No problem in and of itself--though bit of a bummer since membership services closed so we'd have to come back--but caught totally off guard by the subsequent verbal berating, including disparaging her own colleagues who let us in last time as incompetent. Rita ended her quite odd and unprovoked dressing down with a curt "You can go now!". Almost comical if this weren't real life and there weren't families standing around dumbfounded. Besides her we've had nothing but excellent experiences. Facilities are awesome and usually staff is friendly and helpful. read more
