I've been coming to the step hip hop class for about a month now and the class doesn't disappoint! I would highly recommend you get there early as the class fills up quick!!! One minute it's nice and empty and the next thing you're wondering if you're going to trip on your neighbors step while trying to spin around and keep up, lol. The instructor (Darian) gives a quick review in the beginning for new class takers but once the lights go out it's time to get down to business. The class is 45 minutes of high energy, great dancing music, and a million squats to get your booty nice and right for life. It is loud in the class with the music and instructor yelling over the mic, but I promise you once you get through your first class you'll be ready to come back for more. The high cardio workout is one of the best ones I've come across in a long time. You can buy a member ship with the Y and class is included or pay $20/class for drop ins......either way it's worth it. read more

Love the facility and water aroebics ,the machines are varied and the track is ver nice im im pressed evrrytime I go.

Love coming here during the day. It's definitely for the older crowd but that's to be expected as they pay special attention to the vets in the city which is awesome. The equipment is not for the faint of heart lol! I can never lift as heavy here! read more

I really like this particular Y, however the billing office keeps messing up my billing. My star rating is on billing not the facility! Orthoindy Foundation YMCA on 53rd and Lafayette Rd can't seem to get my billing strait. Whoever is in charge of billing needs to focus on what they are billing! They double billed me for my granddaughter and my membership accounts. When I caught the mistake I called them and was told they'd get back with me because their computers were down, but they never did. I went in the following day and they still couldn't get it right even though they admitted their mistake. After about 30 minutes or more of them trying to figure out how to correct the duplicate billing, and having to go through two people, I was told I would receive a refund. Then someone called me later and told me they couldn't give me a refund only credits to both accounts. That's certainly not the way they took my money. Giving me no choice, they told me no membership payments would be due until June. Well here we are still in May and they have taken out another membership payment on my granddaughter, and I have a suspicion they are going to take another one out on me. They keep taking money from me and not giving it back!!! I'm elderly, and on a fixed income. I am paying a lot of medical bills right now, raising a grandchild with no outside financial help, and now I have to deal with this incompetence. Do I have time to be messing with this every month, NO!! This all started because I would lock my card when I'm not using it and doing so would cause my YMCA payments to be declined. So I went into the branch and switched over to checking which would eliminate the problem. Well, instead of taking out the payments due from just my checking account, they charged my card as well which I had unlocked at the time. I can see this being a mistake the first time, but how does the same thing happen again? Tell Me!!! How do you keep taking peoples money and telling them you can only give it back in bottles ( credit) but not even honor that. I'd be charged with a crime if I repeatedly did that to them! read more

This location is good.. but not complete with out a SAUNA! Like whatt!!? What's a workout with out a sauna. I am a mom of 2 and the sauna is like drinking a bottle of wine by yourself lol jk! But I was so so so disappointed in that. I probably won't be going to this location often because of that. I am very happy with the downtown location. I am glad Pike built a new ymca as the older one was extremely small. Pros Location Windows Balcony to do yoga Indoor track Customer service Mini Water park Cons Locker room is dark No sauna No sauna No sauna And oh yeah. No sauna. All in all, I am happy the ymca is here. Great to stay healthy and the location is right off the highway in a perfect spot. read more

OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA - Gyms Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

I go to this Y 5-6 days a week. I love the hours, love the friendliness of the staff, love the class offerings, and love how well the facility is kept up. I'm gonna jump on the "wish they had a sauna" train because that really is the only thing this Y location is lacking. Highly recommend getting a Y membership if you don't already have one and visiting the OrthoIndy location!! read more

I've tried a few Ys around the city and always feel the most comfortable at this location. The staff are friendly and the 2ish year old facility is kept very clean. Pool area: the open swim schedule is posted weekly but there are usually 1-4 lanes open. Swim lessons are offered frequently. There's a small Wade in splash area for littles too. Locker rooms: as every review notes, there isn't a sauna.. but the shower pressure is nice and locker rooms are clean. Gym: equipment is kept in good condition, free weights, machines, bikes, endless stair climbing torture machine, kick boxing, big heavy ropes people like to swing around- it's all there Children's area: I can tell you it exists and children seem happy. That's the extent of my expertise there. Extra highlight- there are tiny lockers to keep your keys/jacket in that are free to use with a temporary password you make up. For a girl who always forgets a lock, this is so convenient! read more

The only thing bad about this place I can say is that they don't have a sauna and every afternoon it is packed in here. Other than that the staff is wonderful everything is always clean. The temperature is always turn down in the gym area. I love coming here because it's close to my home and I can bring my kids. As far as I know this is the only YMCA within the Indianapolis area that has a special program for veterans. read more

This was opening day for the Ortho Indy Foundation YMCA in Pike Township on Lafayette Road just north of 52nd Street. The newly constructed facility is 56,000 sq. ft with state of the art strength and cardio equipment. Parking appears plentiful with a large paved lot. In front of the building are two, large, military statues with a wall of veteran names. A few of the locations amenities on the first floor is an indoor, 25-yard, four-lane, 5 ft. at deepest, Lap Pool with a recreational area and therapy water jets. The large gymnasium has a full-sized basketball court and was very active today. A cooking lab will be available for classes in the near future and it can be rented. Across the hall is a computer lab with free Wifi if you need a laptop. A nice daycare area is onsite for the little ones. Small lockers are available across from the gym. Additional lockers are available in one of the three locker rooms, Family, Men or Womens with no overnight storage. Entrance to the pool is through the locker rooms. The Veteran's room is also on the first floor where they offer Veteran programs. There is also an elevator if needed by the gymnasium. On the second floor is the indoor Walking/Running Track along the outside perimeter of the room. The strength and cardio equipment is in the center of the track. There are lots of natural lighting from the large windows. A large variety of programs and activities are available. Water classes in both the shallow and large pool, yoga, silver sneakers fitness programs, Zumba, Bike, Taekwondo, Hip-Hop, Strength and Endurance and Circuit training to name a few. Once you become a Charter Member, you have access to all 12 YMCA of Greater Indianapolis locations. No contracts when you join. New membership includes 4 hours with a Personal Trainer and orientation on the workout machines and equipment. My concern, as with all new memberships, is how crowded will the facility be on a daily basis, class sizes and the wait time for the machines. I'm hoping for the best as I need to get into shape in 2019. read more

Bigger than the Pike location offering a pool, indoor track, outdoor terrace, and basketball court but smaller than the Jordan and Irsay centers. I really like the type of weight machines they have here though. I don't think i like the indoor track where it is because as people navigate through the machines, they may step out in your way. They have a kids play area and rooms for workout classes. Happy to have a high quality gym in the local area to promote health with friendly staff and programs at a reasonable monthly price to visit as often as you like! read more

The facility is clean. The staff have been helpful and nice so far. I do wish the faculty was bigger. I usually go to the Y downtown so I understand I may be a little spoiled, but even the amenities were compromised. I hate that there is no sauna!!! read more

Went to this YMCA while out of town at a baseball tournament, I was met with an extremely friendly staff who was accommodating and went above and beyond to help make my experience great. The place was very clean from the equipment to the locker rooms it was near spotless. This YMCA had nice up to date equipment and it made my time there great. Only critique I have is I would have liked more weight oriented machines, as most were catered to cardio, but that's just a preference of mine. Overall the best YMCA I've been to so far, the Joey Chessnut of YMCA's read more

This Y is conveniently located 5 minutes from my home. I know this was meant to be a replacement/upgrade from the old Pike YMCA. Before Covid, the Y had towel service which I kinda miss, but I get it. The fitness center has a good variety of cardio and weight machines as well as free weights. It is surrounded by an indoor track to walk or run. There is a basketball gym as well as a pool used for classes and lap swim. Also since Covid, you have to reserve a lap lane. Before you could share lanes. I do wish they had a hot tub or sauna to help you relax after a workout. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I also wish they had longer hours on Sunday. Overall, a good place. read more

Beautiful new space! I love the new version of the Pike YMCA! It's fresh and shiny and clean and the perfect space for a good workout. Some of the areas, like the group exercise room and the locker rooms, feel a bit small compared to other Y's in the area, but they are still nice. I recently attended a Zumba class and a water aerobics class and enjoyed both. I look forward to returning and checking out more that this location has to offer. read more

Bigger and better than the original Pike Ymca! Cardio and weight machines have been upgraded with lots of great features, nice track, pool and gym. This location offers a lot of services and programs for Vets and their families which is great! The only thing I was disappointed about is that it doesn't have a whirlpool. I would have expected that to be a staple especially if the focus is on Vets who are looking to rehab are used to having a whirlpool to help rehab or deal with their medical conditions read more

I work out there & very nice place to go & the exercise swim is great too! The equipment is great to work with & the people are very nice & friendly too. read more

This state of the art location offers so many classes and programs here as well as celebrating veterans and a part of Indianapolis history. This particular YMCA replaces the old Pike location on 71st and Zionsville, but if you wanna go back to some history, this YMCA celebrates the African-American community that was along Indiana Avenue which became a safe haven for African-American families. Its original location was located on Senate street, then it became the Fall Creek Y, with it being located on 10th street near the old Wishard hospital. As the IUPUI campus grew and needed more room, this Y then moved out to the Pike Township neighborhood at its former location. Now it sits pretty along Lafayette Road which recently opened in December of 2018. The crown jewel of this YMCA is that it has a section that is completely dedicated to veterans. Vets that go to the VA hospital come here to work on their physical training, get additional resources and can even be a member with their 20% discount. It is bigger than its former location because it features an indoor track, a swimming pool (no sauna/whirlpool) 2 fitness studios to have classes in and popular teen spot, the Intergen room. They also have a fun daycare play area for younger kids while one gets their workout on. read more

This facility is wonderful and part of the nationwide YMCA! The new equipment and amount of it makes a daily workout so convenient. There is so much space and an area for every family member. The staff has been very nice and friendly. The pool is heated and perfect for the winter months. The only thing missing is a sauna but still very satisfying. read more

Very nice facilities for sure. This location does have a pool but you have to sign up for a slot online. Seems this is a newer location by the looks of things. Parking is no issue at all. read more

I work at the OrthoIndy foundation and when I'm their I have to be active and work with the kids either if it is me playing with them or coloring with them or helping out a lot I don't really like how we have to be active all the time and basically we have to be watching a parents kid while they are doing something else for a bit of time and apparently the front desk can see us too from the window like if we are on our phones apparently we get written up for it like what?? And if we are not active enough we get sent home like yesterday me and this other girl we are still kinda new, we got sent home just cause we are always in the same spot and not being with the kids and we are on our phones like what if we don't really like that job much like their are other places we can be like me myself I can literally work at the Brownsburg library and be with kids there or maybe just help out at the library. But all in all I didn't really like the fact that we had to be sent home just cause me and this other girl stood in the same spot and not help and be with the kids read more

After several years going to the old location at 71st and Zionsville Road I have spent some time adjusting to the new location before leaving a review. Old location - 5 stars. This rating is due to amazing staff, sense of community and accountability. The main downfall was the small size of the gym. The front desk and wellness staff were always amazing and demonstrated great customer service! New location - 3 stars. While the new location does have a lot more amenities and physical space the influx of new members has created a long wait line for equipment in multiple areas and very crowded spaces in classes and the weight training areas. There have been days where I walk in and wait only to leave out of frustration before having a chance to work out. (That being said - The wait times have decreased drastically since the opening in the last few months). The staff from the old location are still serving great customer service! Unfortunately, it is obvious that many of the newer members of the teams are still catching up to the standards established at the previous location. The other struggle several friends and family members and I have all experiences at the new location is the large number of kids playing on machines while their parents are supposed to be supervising. I support young people having the opportunity to exercise and learn how to work out but that isn't what is happening- these kids either don't want to go to child watch offered downstairs or the child watch closes and there is nowhere for the child to go and the parent is put in an awkward situation with no child care. It is a frustrating situation for all involved and creates an awkward situation that has caused both myself and other guests to give up and just go home while someone's kid is playing on their phone while on a machine. Obviously, I am conflicted. I am excited for our community and the new opportunities that the new location offers, but after such amazing experiences at the old location combined with many frustrating guest experiences at the new location I am torn. I rated 4 stars because I averaged my old and new location reviews. I hope that future guests are able to come into the experience with no comparisons and have a great workout. read more

I arrived to visit and get a feel for this brand new establishment. I walked to the front desk and noticed they were busy with other people, so I waited patiently and was greeted by a wellness coach and put in touch with someone to give me a full tour. I was very impressed. They offer alot although I was primarily interested in weight training. I spoke with a rep named Sarah . She offered a free day to get acquainted with the facility. I wasn't impressed with the free weight equipment for legs. I only saw one leg press and one smith machine . A hack squat machine would be nice or a couple more smith machines. If you only train upper body or want to do cardio, you will love this place, but not me. read more

I brought my niece in yesterday for swim lessons for my sister and I wasn't sure what to do and I was very confused. But, I saw a swim instructor who introduced herself as Addison (I'm not sure if that's how you spell it!) She was kind enough to show me where to go during lessons and where the bathroom was. She was very helpful and made my experience fantastic! On the way home my niece could not stop talking about how nice her swim instructor Addison was. I will be purchasing a membership at the YMCA because of her kindness and my experience with her. I would HIGHLY recommend going to this YMCA if you have children interested in swim lessons. read more
