The waitress arrived and took my order, their margaritas are large and strong. They give you complimentary chips and fish ceviche with salsas, which were excellent. The green salsa had quite a kick. I then went with the Fried Red Snapper, which came with fries, rice, and a salad. It was very tasty and fresh. The service was very good, the waitress stopped by often and was very friendly. The prices were outstanding. Overall, a great place for seafood.

Good heads up that this place gets busy on weekends, so plan accordingly. Every table gets a complimentary small bowl of ceviche and a couple of crispy tostadas to start, which was a nice touch, the ceviche wasn't too sour and the tostadas came with hot sauce on the side. Just know it's limited to one per table. Filete de Pescado Relleno ($16-17, 6.5/10) - Portion size is massive. You get three small fish fillets stuffed with octopus, crab (possibly imitation, wasn't totally sure), mushrooms, peppers, calamari, and shrimp, all smothered in a thick layer of cheese - Comes with a small side salad, garlic bread, a few limes, and a scoop of rice, so it's a full plate on its own - The white sauce tying everything together was tangy and sweet and worked really well with the fish - Super rich and heavy dish, and honestly not totally my style since I'm not that accustomed to this kind of preparation, but if you grew up eating stuffed seafood like this, I'd imagine it's a real treat Overall, Mariscos Altamar is a really cool spot in Corpus Christi if you're into Tex-Mex seafood fusion. It's hard to find anything quite like it elsewhere in the area, and the fresh seafood combined with Mexican and Tex-Mex flavors makes for a genuinely unique meal. If you're looking to try something new, this place will absolutely deliver some flavors you haven't had before, and it does it at a pretty reasonable price. Recommend it, especially if you're already accustomed to rich, stuffed seafood dishes.

It is spot on and as delicious as it was 30 years ago... That recipe never gets old! The service was amazing... Our server treated us like we were regulars, and the restaurant is just fun and beautiful. The manager saw what we had ordered and smiled ear to ear, we stopped to ask us if everything was good and we said it was fabulous! I don't think he was born when we first started ordering this dish and I'm not so sure if the chefs were either, but they did a great job! Returning to this review to update one year later. I've been to Waterstreet several times since. Always consistent, fresh, delicious. Once in a while the hostess is a bit inconsiderate, but when we return next time, they're gone... so management addresses service issues quickly.

I wish all my family could have attended bc I think we would have had a blast just eating incredible food and enjoying each other's company. I will say though, don't come here if you expect to pay less and enjoy more. The prices are pricey but the food is worth it!! The only thing I was not impressed with was the pineapple cheesecake. It tasted way more like a custard than a cheesecake and I would not order it again. BUT the drum, oysters, mushrooms, sushi, fish, rolls, etc were superb!! We will definitely be back!!

We needed lunch anyway, so we stopped in at Blackbeards. I would describe this place as a seafood dive bar. It has an extensive menu with great choices for anyone looking for a certain kind of seafood. I was looking for fried shrimp. My son was looking for fried oysters. Each of them were available with several options. I got a plate that had three fried shrimp, three coconut shrimp, and three fried oysters. Had I known how huge the shrimp would be, I would have left off the oysters. I was really stuffed after eating all of that. Everything was really good, but the coconut shrimp dipped in the accompanying sweet lemon butter sauce were AMAZING. My son had the fried oyster plate. They were his first, and he was disappointed. He really liked them, but he was hoping they would taste more like fresh oysters on the half shell. I guess I should have prepared him for the total transformation. The servers were very helpful and friendly. They all seemed to really like their jobs. If you have to work, why not do it at a beach side restaurant?

I say that as there is a difference when you go to eat somewhere and you are hungry versus being famished. We were famished. Walking in, it reminded me of other crab shacks we have been. Nothing wrong with that. The wife is basically a mermaid so will eat any and all from the sea or ocean. I did find it interesting that there are signatures over pretty much every single surface you can find sans the tables and floor (there were even a couple on the TV screen). Too much? For me, yes. But unto each their own. Other than that, pretty cool place. Everyone was friendly. Though we were having a late dinner, there were still a a lot of dinners so service wasn't the fastest. But they were still attentive and checked on us until we got our waitress. My wife ordered a bucket with shrimp with head on, Manilla clams and calamari with 3 sauces. I got the fried half and half, shrimp and catfish but I also got an order of their special seasoning for me (which evidently includes all their seasonings) and their hushpuppies. (They are frozen but the waitress said they are good so I decided to give them a shot.) When the food arrived, it was a good amount of food. It also came really quickly. My wife barely talked for the entire meal. Other than praises on how good everything was. That is saying something. She is definitely picky with her seafood. I tried some of it and it was great. Mine hit the spot. Fried food isn't hard but it is also easily messed up, all mine tasted fresh and the batter was very tasty. No bad taste from the oil. The sauces/seasoning. That is the best thing to me. it is all in melted butter with garlic and other seasonings. They really add great flavor. Enough that we took them with us. All in all. Very happy with dinner and looking forward to our next trip there.

They came out hot, juicy, easy to peal, spicy but not the heat that makes you sweat. I was VERY pleased with the food. Beer was cold and there's a full bar. It was very casual with paper "table clothes", hand written messages spread wall to wall. The staff and guests were all very friendly. I have not a bad thing to say about this place. If you head this way, expect a wait. Thankfully we found a couple open spots at the bar and avoided the 25 minute wait. ...That's a short wait time based on other reviews.
