Every single cushion was dry, brittle and coming apart at the seams. It has been duck taped so long that even the tape was unraveling. The carpeting on the bottom was so thin and bare you could see right through it in spots. You need to put towels or blankets down so you don't get scratched. Not only was it in bad shape physically but it stalled on us three times. We had to call Rusty to figure out how to restart it. He claims there is a leak in the fuel line and we need to keep priming it. We are not confrontational people and we had a group of 7 going out, so we just made the most of our day and chalked it up to a story to tell. But please beware and ask to see before you rent.

What an outstanding experience! The Coastal Exhibitions Beach Drop for Sea Turtles on Bull Island…read moreis one of the most unique and inspiring fundraisers I've ever attended. From the moment we boarded the boat, everything was organized & punctual. The journey out to Bull Island is a treat -- a scenic, peaceful ride through pristine Lowcountry waterways, filled with wildlife sightings from sea birds to feeding dolphins. The beach drop itself is a joyful way to raise awareness and funds for sea turtle conservation. The team does an incredible job explaining the significance of the event, the impact of donations, and the vital work being done to protect these gentle creatures. Walking the beach on Bull Island with the guides who are knowledgeable & passionate about the area & conservation is a real treat. They make the entire event feel intimate and authentic. Plus, knowing that every dollar raised goes toward conservation efforts just adds to the overall sense of purpose. Bring beach/water shoes, lots of water, it gets very hot with little shade, lots of snacks, sunscreen & a hat. There is very little shade. I highly recommend this educational boat trip for all ages. Coastal Exhibitions staff are simply outstanding

Despite not living in South Carolina, I have now been on the Bull Island Ferry three times. I'm not…read morethe only one; whenever they ask the crowd if there are repeat visitors, usually around a third or so of people's hands go up. Which is to say, if you're wondering why someone would pay forty bucks a head to take a boat to an undeveloped island when there are other boneyard beaches and fields of spartina grass all around, there are plenty of right answers. The land here is beautiful and undeveloped, and while there is a small public dock where anyone can land, there are not going to be a ton of people on this island. It's large enough to be quite dynamic, with thick forests giving away to wetlands reclaiming the ditches dug by the island's previous owner; the beaches are only part of the attraction. The heat, humidity, and bugs can be bad in summer, so going during the cooler months is actually better in my experience. There are tons of alligators, which are quite large but unlike Australian crocodiles, are relatively safe to be around if you don't do anything dumb. Other wildlife and plants will vary, but will certainly be interesting. By and large, the trails are wide and well-kept, and if you take the early boat in, you can get a good run of half the island or so if you stay on your feet. Conversely, you can also relax on an isolated yet spectacular beach. If you're lucky you can find a sand dollar, and plenty of other shells and artifacts can be collected (though the wildlife refuge imposes some limits). Bringing your own food/water/sunscreen/insect repellent is a must. Regarding weather, they take a credit card number to hold your reservation but won't actually charge you until the tour is done. It would be hard to be in the continental U.S. and find a spot that is cleaner, more beautiful, and more interesting than this one.

We took the 2 hr tour and saw ships, forts, the Battery of Charleston, dredges, the old Navy base, dry docks, and a dolphin, etc. Captain Chris tailored the tour to our interests specifically and our recollections of the area from decades ago. I highly recommend. First there were just the 4 of us so no crowds for Covid worries. Secondly , it was tailored to our interests... we covered a lot of ground in 2 hrs! Third, the cost was less than if we had taken a bigger ship with a herd of people and waited around as they fished, sight saw etc. this small ship was perfect and fast enough we saw everything we wanted and we're back before we burned up from the sun! Thank you I hope you do well! Thank you for your service! And know you can always trust a Navy Diver to be fun.
