The tour lasts about 2 hours, and goes from the state park and follows the original path of the Santee river, through the sunken cypress forest, and back around across the lake. We saw quite a few nesting ospreys, and a bunch of other aquatic birds, turtles and a gator. Captain Rick was very knowledgeable about the history and wildlife. One tidbit is that Lake Marion is named after the Revolutionary War here Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, who operated in the area. I highly recommend this tour if you're in the area, it's a lot of fun and very interesting.

The history that Richard provided as we boated our way around Lake Marion was perfect. Highly recommend.
