The staff is helpful and the store has all that you might need to buy more of when camping (Beer, wine, ice, and bait!!). They have some other helpful items as well, but those above are the most important. The bathhouse is older, but kept up well and is clean. The sites are good, especially if you stay on the waterfront. The only downside, in my opinion, is that it is relatively remote. So, make sure you bring all or most of the essentials and food you need since shopping is not very close. This is also what makes it desirable, though.

There were a few families fishing. I walked to the campground area and that seemed really nice as well. The park is pet friendly. We did not see any alligators, but we were warned they had a lot so I kept my dogs away from the water. I would definitely make sure you have bug spray when you visit!

The trail is just under 1.5 miles, but is not paved so beware of roots and loose dirt. Loved coming here to take a nice easy walk, and the property is very well maintained. WOW, what a great day…read more We did a half day fishing charter with Richard (which ended up being like 5.5 hours). Richard was a great captain. The boat was clean and well equipped. Richard took us out there where the fish were. He warned us in advance that the fishing had been a little slow, but much to our surprise we have a really great day with lots of fish. We caught about 15 sharks, 10 blue fish, a few trout and a black cod. Richard did a beautiful job of cleaning the fish and telling us how to best prepare it. I would highly recommend Richard and Tallboy Charters. I hope to be back there soon and will again be out with Richard fishing.

We booked a 1 room cottage and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom- which was nice and spacious. The unit was clean and had basic utensils and pots/pans. The master bedroom shower and toilet did not have running water so we used the guest bathroom as the main bathroom - full disclosure- we didn't notify mgt during our stay because we were fine just using the spare. I recommend bringing your own towels as the towels all smelled of mildew. There is a little island just right next to the resort which has goats and chickens on it. You can boat or kayak over and walk on the island. I would not consider this a resort per se, but there were boats for rent and the kayaks were free for guest use. We rented a pontoon and had a great time on the lake. The boat was dated, but ran fine. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The property has a bunch of campers very close together- some better kept than others. Overall the property appeared cluttered with chairs, bicycles and grills. It has a nice view of the water and was mostly quiet during our stay. They are very dog friendly and the management and staff also bring their dogs during the day. All the dogs got along pretty good.

Campers/trailers emptied by hand every few days and carried to holding tank at entrance. The smell is horrible. We went for eclipse. The camper we rented was filthy. We had to clean the air filter right off. Filth literally hanging down in our faces. Filter stiff with grease and dirt. Lost count of dead bugs that had been squashed in ceiling and left there by cleaner. Mattress thin, bedding stained. Blinds bent, broken, spattered, and greasy. This unit never should have been rented. It got worse. First flush of toilet revealed poor maintenance. The odor drove us & everything we owned out at 1030 at night. Thankful our inlaws were there with their camper or we would have had to sleep in car. (August). No response to multiple calls. While re loading car, a resident offered to look at it. Bless her! While it did get better, the smell of raw sewage never left. It was again, at times, again, overwhelming. The owner minimized this problem, but did admit, as we were leaving a day early, that the unit probably shouldn't have been rented. No refund offered. He did say we could have a free night the next time we came. Those three stick built units do exist, but were unavailable 8 months before our visit. They look nice, but your view? We were promised a 5 th wheel, brand new. Everyone we spoke to there for eclipse was promised same thing, then told same story upon their arrival as to what it wasn't available. Not a single rental unit I saw was clean or properly maintained. We slept one night out of three in their camper. The smell, the filth, angry young man next door with blasting music...we braved the eclipse traffic rather than stay one day longer. We will be watching our credit card very carefully. I will say, everyone we met, with only the exception of loud guy next door & drunken lady who fell off a seat and saw $$$$, everyone else was very nice. Even owner was polite. I didn't believe a word he said, but he was polite. If you go, bring everything! Note no sewer, no cable, no wifi, no potable water. And pay cash. Don't count on your phone working either.
