I went in and ate and had an amazing experience. Bartender was great, food was delicious and ambiance was beautiful.
Let me start by saying that this place is a hidden gem in Acworth, GA and the surrounding areas. It should be recognized and visited more, IJS. The food here is always, always fresh, hot and well prepared. From the appetizers to the drinks to the desserts to the food, you can't miss. The only wish is to try everything, but it's best to come back soon, and keep coming. The service from the hostess staff that checks you in. To the serving staff that takes your order. To the management staff that walks around to greet you and welcome you in, this is food service and hospitality done right. Words can't express the level of service from Ms. Dorothy, she is amazing . She is funny, knowledgeable and very attentive to her customers. We come back as often as we can and ask for her. The ambiance is white tablecloths, but on a more relaxed state. They have some soft music playing overhead, but it's not overpowering at all. They have a beautiful large fireplace inside. Plenty of extra seating on the upstairs area. The restrooms are nice and clean and cool. A must visit for date nights, family dinning, groups, individuals or to hang at the bar to watch a game or to chill nice and romantically on the patio - visit soon.
Wanted to like this place really badly. My wife and I wanted to go out and celebrate a great end of the month. I particularly wanted to go somewhere that we haven't been before. We love seafood and the reviews and menu from this place looked promising. We were greeted nicely enough at the door although it's a bit odd when someone says "we only have outside seating". This place looked nice so there is a more professional way to say that. We would have waited for something inside but we weren't given that option. The patio had maybe 2-3 seated tables at the time at around a quarter to 6pm on a Friday night. We were greeted by our incredibly friendly server (red bow but I don't remember her name) Super nice but she didn't seem to know the menu too well. Again we had never been there and we needed some help. We decided on the crab dip. It was bubbly and tasted pretty good although I am not sure why you would put Velveeta on the description. But ok. Make sure to stir it well because the crab didn't seem to appear until we were half way done. I also ordered a margarita. It was excellent. Kudos to the bar tender. Next we ordered our entrees. I ordered the Redfish with mashed potatoes and sliced cucumbers and a quarter caesar salad, and my wife got the horseradish encrusted Grouper. Same sides. You'll notice that I did not take pictures of that. I'll get to that in a minute. The salad was pretty good. Nothing like a Caesar you might have had. At first I thought the lettuce was charred because there were some brown bits that I just picked out. Should have been easily seen by the expo or food runner. Should not have been served. I've had my shots so I ate it any way. Loved the addition of kernel corn and green pepper. And the shaved parm was the only thing that resembled Caesar salad. (Besides the lettuce. Which was brown). After my salad was when things started going south. I mentioned that there were 2-3 other tables there when we were seated. Both left shortly after we got there. Literally every other table on the patio came after we were seated and after we ordered. (It was full when we left) After an hour from when we first sat down my wife and I started to wonder where our entrees were. And the food started coming out. The first was a 4 top, then there were two 2 tops and a party of three who all order AFTER us who got their food. Then 2 more tables got their food. And our table? Still nothing. When the next table got their food, I got up, Found our server and asked her to cash us out for the food and drinks we got. I then told her we were leaving. $42 for what you see pictured. $20 tip. When I mentioned it to the front desk person, she asked me who my server was, Not let me get a manager. This was not a server issue. I couldn't tell WHO the manager was! Never saw a manager. I was in the restaurant business for 30 years and I can tell you one thing; The manager in this place had no idea there was a problem. I'm not sure what "Pay No Mind" list we were on but this night was ruined. Really disappointed. Only reason for 4 stars was the margarita and the fact that plenty of other guest got epic service. Lesson learned.
I treated my mom to dinner at Fish Thyme and it was so good. This was my second time going and my moms first time. She really enjoyed it. We started out with the fried green tomatoes appetizer. It has a sauce on it and goat cheese. The tomatoes are a little on the thicker side and could use a little more seasoning. For entrees we ordered the parmesan and potato encrusted flounder and the half order of crab cakes (1). A full order is 2. The crab cake was good and not full of filler. It had a remoulade sauce that paired well with it. For sides we had green beans, creamed spinach, and mashed sweet potatoes. We ended dinner with the rum cake. It was very moist and warmed. It was served along side vanilla ice cream and whipped cream with a caramel sauce.
4 stars for the great service, nice ambiance & cute bracelets that the owner gave to my 19 month old. The service was excellent! The food came out quick! Drinks were strong & came out soon after we ordered them. Love the paper for tablecloths. My 19 month old enjoyed coloring on the table. The kids menu is on the back of a children's book. Super cute idea. I was reluctant to let my toddler read the book as it was a little old and germs. Loved the idea but I'd prefer a disposable menu. Started with the alligator bites & oyster Rockefeller. Both were delicious! I ordered the blackened Halibut. The lobster cream sauce was great!! Had to order more sauce for the fish. The halibut was a little dry. Probably my least favorite dish. The creamed spinach & mashed potatoes were good. My husband ordered the stuffed flounder. DELICIOUS! Seasoned to perfection! I ended up eating his food. He ordered the hash browns as the server said it was his favorite side. Don't recommend. Just dry hash browns. No seasoning, flavor or anything. Overall, this is a really cute date spot.
Things I thought I would never say- "honey, let's drive to Acworth to have a memorable seafood dinner in Acworth". Amazing, just amazing. We were a table of 8 dinners and had a fabulous meal and experience. We started with several appetizers that we shared- calamari, mussels, oysters, and spicy crab claws. All of them were outstanding with the mussels just inching out the calamari as my favorite. The sauce that the mussels were cooked in was on point- I haven't had mussels that outstanding since I was in France. We ordered a sundry of entrees amongst us and my crab cakes were very delicious. I did order the full entree and after the starters we had, I almost didn't finish the meal. Threes cheers to our server Ms Dorothy- she kept our beverages filled and the table tidy. Additionally, I need to point out that all of our entrees came out at the same time. That kitchen was humming. I will warn you- wear elastic waisted pants. You will need them!
I've eaten here many times over the years, but tonight's experience was by far the worst. Usually they are on point, so maybe it was an off night. My complaints stem from a lack of communication between service & the management team, and total lack of communication between the manager and the customer. Keep in mind, my rating is based on the overall cost to quality ratio, so I'm judging them harshly because their dishes are on the higher end of the spectrum, and as such I expect better attention to details & customer satisfaction. Our server was overall pretty good, polite, and present. However, drinks trickled out to the table rather slowly; from the time the first couple of drinks arrived to the final delivery of the table's first round, it took about 15 minutes, making it impossible to have a proper toast for the birthday boy. I realize this is a bar staff issue and not necessarily the server's fault. Nonetheless, she kept a sunny disposition. The next issue came with my grilled trout order, which was a victim of a severe grill flareup that made the skin burnt and bitter, so I did not eat it and brought it to the attention of our server, who said that she would have it removed from the bill, agreeing with my analysis. Instead the manager gave the discount to another check at our table, not mine (and it was less than half the cost of the meal). Frankly, if I were the manager I would have made a stop by the table to make sure the resolution was satisfactory, to offer my apologies. All I was told is that the manager didn't do the removal the right way, and that there was no recourse at that point. Because it was a birthday celebration, I didn't raise a fuss, but I sure don't mind sharing my experience here to caution other diners. Appetizers were the calamari & bang, bang shrimp, the former relying on the garlic aioli for flavor while the calamari strips were overly salty and slightly limp. The shrimp were also sodium heavy, missing the three dimensional profile of what I expect from the dish (a little sweet, a little spicy, a little salty). The side items were acceptable; the creamed spinach was the most flavorful part of my meal, the green beans were primarily seasoned with garlic leaving much to be desired, but at least they weren't over cooked like so many southern style green bean dishes are. Considering our table of 9 spent around $1,000 collectively, I expect more from a restaurant. The desserts were on the sweet side for my taste, again relying on one aspect, rather than creating depth, though I will say the key lime pie came the closest to having a complex profile. The chocolate Charlotte is nothing like any Charlotte I have had before (usually a custard with fruits & berries served in a tart pie crust), but rather a dense chocolate cheesecake with a brownie shell, dry lady fingers and an overload of whipped cream drizzled with chocolate syrup...fair warning, it's big enough to feed four people. The strawberry pound cake does highlight the spring freshness of ripened strawberries, but again a bit too sweet for me, not enough contrast.
This place is amazing! And classy. The food selection never disappoints. And the outdoor area is so beautiful especially during the cooler weather!
HEADLINE: The Food Here is an Experience not to be Missed. Now to the details. We've been here before, and I'm not sure why I failed to post a review. This was the first time in a while, ONLY because it's a long drive. I love eating outdoors, and the patio is amazing. Inside is nice, so if outside ain't your thing, you'll be fine. Service is excellent. Drinks are top notch. But what is a restaurant without good eats? Let me start by saying I've eaten in 100s of restaurants. So when I say the food here is a cut above the rest, I have a lot to compare it to. It amazes me you can find top notch culinary delights far into the Atlanta suburbs. Started with the crab stuff mushrooms. Big, juicy, loaded with crab meat. We were so hungry I forgot to take a pic. Sorry! I ordered the crab stuffed flounder, and my buddy ordered the seafood pasta. I had a side of corn with peppers, onions, and tomatoes, and a side of hash browns with onions and peppers. You get to pick two sides. He chose to pay the $4 up charge and replace one of his sides with a Caesar salad. It was huge! Not a salad in a bowl. I believe it was a quarter of romaine, nearly a foot long, loaded with a unique blend of cheese, homemade croutons, and I don't know what else, and easily a lunch all by itself, which is why he shared He raved about his pasta. And all I can say is my flounder was hard to stop eating. The beurre blanc sauce on top of perfectly cooked flounder and crabmeat.... So good it almost hurts. But I get to have leftovers in about 10 minutes. There is a reason this place stands packed even tho it's WAY up in Acworth. Hope I did the place justice. One last thing: if you're not a seafood eater, I did see pork chops and steaks on the menu. I might try them one day. But only if they don't have the crab stuffed flounder.
We had a pleasant experience. Our waitress, Sarah, was really kind and accommodation. They have an extensive menu and du jour options as well. This is beautiful location recommended by dear friends and I'm glad we finally had a chance to attend. It's great for parties, gatherings, and dinner dates. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes which left something to be desired---they looked good but necessitates more seasoning. We had to add salt and it seemed to still not be enough. I'd recommend adding seasoning to the tomatoes before breading them. For dinner, I had Stuffed Salmon with side of Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Vegetable of the Day. It was delicious, hearty, and full of flavor. We didn't have dessert. Parking is ample.

So I haven't been to fish thyme in a while. I used to take my entire family yearly and myself monthly I just decided to show up last night with my son, which is a chef downtown Started with two apps. Brochette came out cold while the calamari came out hot with half the portion. We were trying not to let that ruin our evening. We ordered our entree with extra sides. My son ordered the cucumber salad. Just plain vinegar and the cumbersome were soft. I brought that to the waiter's attention. He just said I am sorry. Then after a few minutes I was drinking my water talking trying to enjoy our time together and choked on a fly in my water. I normally would order dessert especially their red velvet cake. We decided enough was enough nothing was taken off the check. Then I looked at the floor and saw all the water damage they had obviously from a toilet flood where they just threw a ring over it.

I'm hesitate to post this but think I'm cheating the rest of you if I don't. I've tried lamb chops everywhere from Danette's at Carmel by the Sea to Ruth's Chris to Carrabba's and they do not hold a candle to Fish Thyme. Prepared medium and served with apricot mint jelly. And sided with there, vegetable medley, and kale salad. It's insane. read more

Had an odd experience here. Place smelled delicious and the patio was perfect but we never got a chance to order entrees. We had drinks and apps and it took our server an hour to casually return to our table and ask "have you had a chance to look at the menu? Ready to order yet?" Everyone else had been served but somehow we were forgotten. We asked to speak to the manager and he was super apologetic but didn't offer to comp anything. Really disappointing considering we'd made a reservation and were celebrating an anniversary. read more

I haven't been out to eat for time, and this place fit the bill! It was a gift, and I really enjoyed my dish, including dessert. I had the tilapia sandwich. It was quite a bit there, and was enough to take some home. I plan to return with my husband for a nice night out! read more

They had a serious wait time for the inside, but honestly, they sat us pretty quickly outside.. I got the white sangria to drink, alligator bites, and baked oysters for appetizers. The alligator bites were a bit too salty for me, but they were seasoned well.. hubby got a lobster roll and truffle fries. He didn't like the sauce on the rolls. We are lobster roll snobs, so he said if we come back, he wouldn't get it... I got the stuffed flounder, string beans, and sweet potato mash. My meal was good. So for sure, I would order that again. read more

Fish Thyme remains one of the premier seafood restaurants in the area. My prior review goes into detail -- I'm still an ahi-lightly-seared-kind-of- person -- but I'm writing an update with tips based on the birthday dinner my husband and I hosted Saturday night. *** Call early to book your table, particularly if you're looking for weekend reservations. I phoned the first week in January for our February 19th dinner. *** Ask for the back room. It's quieter, tables are nicely spaced, and it's more conducive than the main dining room for larger parties. I noticed three birthday dinners happening Saturday night. *** Management doesn't mind if you provide your own wine, something I prefer to do. The corkage fee is a reasonable $10 per bottle. *** Want to bring a birthday cake? No problem. You'll be charged $10, which is more than fair. Otherwise, order desserts from the menu. Fish Thyme's key lime pie is delish. We had eleven people in our party. Everyone was pleased with their order, including the one non-fish eater who had ribs. (They looked pretty good!) Service was attentive and we weren't rushed, as you could be in other popular restaurants. Also -- still important to me -- servers are masked and protocol is followed. read more

I don't have enough good things to say. I was so pleasantly surprised by the meal, I am writing my review as I sit at the table, belly fully expanded, awaiting our check. The mussels were excellent. We loved the grouper as well. The lobster roll lacked lobster, but had excellent flavor. The crème brûlée was wonderful. Our server was so attentive and kind. She gave excellent recommendations. We love how small this space is, it provides for a less noisy atmosphere. read more

Continuing what's become an annual anniversary tradition, we dined at Fish Thyme tonight. Delicious, as usual. A tasty whiskey-sour to start & parm-potato encrusted flounder with creamed spinach & garlic mashed potatoes for entree. Wife had a mojito & the horseradish-encrusted grouper with green beans & garlic mash. Also very good & the horseradish was not too hot at all. And then, we barely saved room to again split a chocolate Charlotte. Divine, with some to take home. We were out for $85 + tip. Look forward to next time. read more
So, my girlfriend had wanted to take me here for some time and we finally got a date night to do it. She setup reservations for it, and I certainly recommend doing that based off how many people were here on a Thursday night. Parking for this place was crazy too ... it's in a nice area that has a few shops, and it's clear it's a popular spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It's certainly more upscale and the prices will reflect that. Even the outdoor seating options were nice (they had a water fountain outside and comfy weatherproof couches plus tables. We opted for outside, and I apologize for lack of pictures. I was trying to keep my phone away bc of our date night. If you're coming here, it's all about the fish and the menu heavily reflects that. It's a niche for sure, but they have all types of fish! We decided to skip appetizers and jump in. I orders the Orange Roughy with mashed sweet potatoes and cucumber salad. The sweet mashed potatoes were probably the best I've had (creamy and not overly sweet but could've been a dessert). The fish flaked perfectly and the sauce provided just a very very slight sweet heat. The cucumber salad was light and refreshing! My gf's tuna with ponzu sauce was sooooooo good. You could taste all the flavors, and even the seared portions were bursting with deliciousness. We complemented our meal with a bottle of Chasing Lions Cab. It was also light and not bad for a cheaper bottle. We both enjoyed it! Our dessert, the cinnamon spice cake, was also light and delicious. This was the only disappointing part, bc I didn't taste the burnt marshmallow cream. Our service was excellent, think his name was DJ? The ambiance is love. It's a black owned spot in the middle of Ackworth filled with the most diverse group of patrons. The environment is joyful, unassuming and inviting. The food is flavorful without being salty. The portions are plentiful. The menu is extensive without being overwhelming and they have something for everyone. read more

We had a large family party for dinner. We were seated on time. Service was good, a bit slow at first as members of the party arrived at different times, but the whole visit was exquisite. We ordered everything from drinks from the bar, appetizers, entrees, sides & salads and of course dessert. Portions were very large and great for the prices. The environment was upbeat and well-lit, it was easy to hear conversation at the table. Our server was wonderful, keeping up with constant additional orders and asking for additionals and extra drinks. The food was wonderful from the crab cakes, to pork chops to the swordfish. The teriyaki salmon was a huge portion with great glaze and wonderful fresh flavor. And the desserts... not only were there about 15 desserts of every kind to choose from, but the sizes! Huge desserts that were absolutely fantastic, great presentation and the best desserts by flavor!! Will DEFINITELY return and loved the whole experience. I did not expect the oysters to be so darn good. I started off with 6 and ended up eating 18 by myself in total. I ordered lamb chops which were fantastic! I didn't really care for the mashed sweet potatoes, only because it was to sweet for my liking. The lamb chops didn't need the apricot mint jelly, I scrapped it off. But still it was a great meal. I think I found my favorite oyster spot. I plan to go back and try other food options, but i know for sure I WILL HAVE OYSTERS!! read more

Everything was delicious! Fish is fresh and sauces were flavorful enough, not overpowering. Also really enjoyed my mai tai! Excited to go back to try other items on the menu. Very classy atmosphere as well and large patio. Go right when they open if you don't have reservations. read more

The ambiance is nice, great spacing, quick service, informed waiters, great service and most importantly delicious food!! I had the glazed salmon with a green medley with Parmesan truffles fries (which is more than enough to share with the table). My bff had the same meal, and my cousin had the stuffed trout with mashed sweet potatoes and the green medley. I had a A martini and everyone else had the sangria. The drinks were delicious. For desert we had the rum caramel cake and ice cream,. It was good, and a shareable slice. I absolutely loved my experience at this restaurant. Delicious! read more

I have always heard good things about Fish Thyme. In fact I cannot think of one person who has ever had anything negative to say! So when I ate here a few years ago and didn't have a very good meal/experience I didn't leave a review. I'm glad that I waited! Tonight, was exactly what I was expecting. Everything was on point. I had a half order of trout. My friends both had salmon with different sauce. We all liked our meals. Our waiter was amazing. Attentive, friendly and well trained. When I asked for her personal recommendations she gave me a recommendation for someone new to seafood, a seafood lover and someone who didn't want seafood. I thought that was a great way to spotlight something from each section of the menu. She also explained some ingredients in such a nice way. I felt like she went out of her way to out us at ease. Well run. Lovely space. Enjoyable place to be. The high ceilings make it a little noisy, but not unbearable. Excellent food and service. read more
Wonderful experience! Our server, Miss Dorothy, was fantastic! There were four of us and we had an enjoyable evening from the appetizers of mussels, oysters and fried green tomatoes (served hot and crispy!) to the entrees; we had the blackened red fish, naked trout with beure blanc sauce, and the snow crab legs. Each came with two sides--we had the corn, cucumber salad, kale salad and garlic mashed potatoes and sweet potato mash. Wow!! All the food was cooked to perfection, and I'm not exaggerating. The restaurant is a little on the loud side, but the blue lighting and the candlelight make it romantic. If you've been here you know what I mean. If you haven't you must come! Prices are reasonable too. Parking just outside the restaurant--and I didn't even mention the fire pit on the outdoor patio!! And a adobe fireplace indoors. They take reservations. And have an event space for larger groups. read more

First time at Fish Thyme & the food was absolutely amazing and delicious. The fried green tomatoes were a little tart and I do believe that they could have been fried a little bit longer, however my waiter was kind enough to take them off. The hurricane drink is really good and strong take it easy if your driving . My entree was the trout with mashed sweet potatoes and the kale salad. The fish was very flavorful and very filling . I was able to taste some of the other food that was at the table and everything was just as delicious. For dessert I got the house made pound cake with strawberries, it's enough for 4 people so make sure you come Hungary read more

Went for a bday dinner (large group) service was great and food was even better. Muscles as an app and I had the stuffed salmon with cucumber salad and garlic mashed potatoes. My husband had the parm crusted grouper with cream spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. The drinks were good and strong (from what I heard) would definitely recommend and go back. read more
