Pro tip for Fish! is to go inside and be seated vs. getting your fish from the takeaway line and sitting on the curb to eat it. They take reservations on one of the services (the Fork?), so you can do it while you browse the rest of the market. It's a bit more expensive, but you get a larger portion... and there are like 5 fish options. My partner had the cod and I had the fresh sea bream... both were excellent and accompanied by a stellar mushy peas serving. Batter was crispy, just the right saltiness and we started with some olives which were perfect. Friendly service and beats eating in the street.
While exploring the borough market, saw a line for London's famous fish & chips. Well well well, let me try this now It was a 'to-go' line (not the actual restaurant) and the line was moving fast. Seems they were only taking orders of fish & chips. I ordered one (Plaice fish) and unfortunately, I got burned fish. And that was too full of oil - 2/5 Doesn't matter if they won some 'Fish-Chip Award' if you don't maintain consistency. And to-go customers- they might come back so treat them nicely, please. if I am asking where are folks/sauces are - point them out nicely. Just handing out the food doesn't mean your job is finished.
Stopped in for a snack before dinner. I got the salmon croquette and fish soup. Both were not good. The salmon croquette had too much of a fishy taste and I couldn't finish it. The fish soup was so bland. It had next to no flavor. I couldn't even taste fish. It was also more like a reddish purée. I couldn't even tell what the base was. I sent the soup back and didn't order anything else. I was really bummed out because the place had great reviews. Should have just tried the fish and chips. The one nice thing was the patio. Great ambience there!
Fish and Chips shop located just outside of Borough Market in London. You can order from their walk up take away counter or you can dine inside the actual restaurant. We had to go with the classic fish and chips with cod. The chips were good but not as crispy as I would typically expect. The fish was cooked well. However, it lacked a bit flavor and seasoning since it was a tempura batter versus the traditional beer batter version. The mushy peas were good and I actually really liked the tartar sauce (which I am usually not a big fan of). With some extra malt vinegar, a big squeeze of lemon, and some salt the dish really came together. Our server was great and overall I really enjoyed the meal.

Our waiter was super friendly the entire time too and did a great job at explaining the menu and informing me of allergens. I got the haddock and chips, and got the salsa verde and hollandaise sauces since the tartar has nuts. The portion was MASSIVE but the food was so good. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, well fried, and moist on the inside. I loved the thickness of the chips and there was a plentiful amount of those too. Both sauces were also delicious. For dessert, we got the sticky toffee pudding and they let us sub the ice cream flavor to the black coconut. This ice cream was fantastic - so flavorful and unique! I also loved the sticky toffee pudding which was warm and soft and so so good. Overall, fantastic spot for some of the British food classics!
Had this fish & chips place in the borough market. It was a decent meal. We got the wild halibut fish and chips. The fish was decently fried and flaky but it was kind of missing something, like maybe meatiness. The oysters were very good and fresh. Service was good and while they were busy, they were able to get us a table within a reasonable amount of time. But a reservation is highly recommended.
Fish! was a great lunch choice at Borough Market. Fish n' Chips and lobster were freshly prepared and delicious. I was served a pretty good Negroni and our server was personable and attentive. The only downside was space. Our table was in a very tight spot where servers reached over us a few times to grab silverware and condiments.
I stopped by several spots in Borough Market in London recently and the food that stood out the most was the Fish & Chips with Cod from Fish! Kitchen. The cod was delicate and tender, breading thin and not oily, and overall a good balance. The fries were quite good as well. I think it's one of the best stalls in the market and I'd give it 8.8/10.

You can see that they are pushing out a lot of the fried fish constantly, resulting in a fresh and hot meal. They have ketchup and malt vinegar to the side. However, take note to order tartar sauce at the kiosk, if needed. Pretty big downside of takeout: the space offered to eat is very little and usually packed.
I got the fish & chips and man what a disappointment. The chips were dry and also the fish. On top of the poor food and bad customer service, they chose to charge you for pretty much everything that usually comes with a order of fish and chips! Its ridiculous. Tourists trap! I would never come here again!
Sorry, this review is from my visit in 2015 and was an unpublished draft. Time out said a must try for fish and chips. I agree. the fish and chips here were quite tasty. Loved that you can decide which type of fish to have. mushy peas were delicious as well. read more

Advertised as the best fish and chips place in London...I thought it was meh. No flavor on the battered fish but the chips were good. I think that's just because I'm a sucker for steak fries. The lobster bisque...where was the lobster? Where was the lobster flavor? I'm assuming it's still in the pot because it wasn't in the bowl of soup. Service was mediocre. Could've been better based on the fact that no patrons were there except for maybe 1 table. The restaurant itself wasn't bad. We sat outside spacious. I do however wish they had heaters outside for colder days, but other than that I suggest sitting outside. It has a nice comfortable feel. read more

We ordered to go. And they had the daily special - Halibut. The fish was delicious - wish they provided a bigger piece, the batter was light. Service was quick - you order and they hand you your fish and fries order quickly. read more

Stopped here on my foodie tour and it was AMAZING! Had the fish and chips and wow...best I've ever had! The fish was perfectly flaky and flavorful, and the chips (fries) were crispy, golden, and just perfect. Totally lived up to the hype! read more

I got the fish & chips and man what a disappointment. The chips were dry and also the fish. Fish!Kitchen take away is Winner of the worst Fish & Chips in London. Fish tastes like rubber. Dish itself is a very plain with no taste. Fish covered in a very thick oily bread crust which makes difficult to find actual fish inside. But nearby pigeons were happy to try it. read more

A great restaurant if you are craving fish in the Borough Market! You can dine inside or on the terrace. We picked the terrace because the weather was nice and we could people watch! We started off with the grilled shrimp in a butter and garlic sauce and some chili peppers. It was accompanied with some crunchy bread. Let me tell you, I could have ordered another one, it was so delicious. We split the fish and chips but upgraded to the cod, a little more pricier. It wasn't greasy at all and was super fresh and flakey. It was served with mushy peas, French fries and of course tartare sauce. Everything was perfect. The waiter was friendly and on the ball. The restaurant wasn't cheap but due to the quality and freshness of the food it totally justified the price. read more

Great little spot in Borough Market! They really do live up to their name, and their well-deserved award of 'best fish and chips'. I got the cod fish and chips, and it was sooo good (especially the chips!). Extremely fast service and excellent food. Also got the clotted cream and cherry ice cream, that was great as well. read more

Fish! Can you guess what they are famous for here? Fish n Chips! One of the popular stalls and restaurants in the Boroughs Market. I can only review the standing Togo stall but I was able to see the restaurant and it looked lovely. The stall is green and easily spottable, especially as the lines get long. I came with a food tour group which was the way to go as the food was ordered for us while we shopped and then when ready to eat we sat down lucky to snag a wooden bench to the side of the stall. Seating is super limited which can make eating this dish a challenge but lucky for our group we were seated so it was a lovely experience. Learned that the fish is picked out fresh every morning and delivers come through. Every batch of fried fish is made to order as you could imagine fried fish would need to be. They crank out so many orders of fish it's insane how much frying they do. We were recommended to get the haddock and chips. A perfect fish and the right amount of crunchy batter was fabulous. Told they use a beer batter and this paired nicely with the chips. You must pour some malt vinegar and salt on the fish for the bite to be a 5/5, trust me! The fish was super fresh and the batter was good. Surprisingly light. Was it the best fish ever? Not the best, but pretty darn good and still a 5/5. A must try when in the market. read more
I was wandering through Borough Market and Bankside and saw this restaurant. Since I'm always looking for good fish and chips, I decided to give Fish! a try. Glad I did. I ordered their fish and chips of the day made with sea bass. Delicious, nicely seasoned, perfectly crispy crust. And the tartare sauce - with hints of coriander, anchovies, and capers - so good. The mushy peas were tasty. Very friendly service and a nice seating area. read more

I am in no way a Fish and Chips expert but when I saw the long line and sign celebrating their win at the National Fish and Chips Awards (who knew that was a thing) I got suckered in and got in line. While the line looks long, it moves pretty fast. Fish! also has a sit down restaurant so if you don't feel like standing in line you can opt for the restaurant experience. The take away menu is simple, different fish options, sides, sardines, and drinks. I obviously chose the award winning beer battered fish and chips. For about £15 you get 1 large piece of beer battered fish and a decent amount of fat, lightly fried, chips. You can also choose between tartar sauce or mayo - I went tartar. While it may be missing the classic newspaper underneath it is a fine, classic dish. The fish is fried and rested in front of you so it comes hot. Be careful! I found the fish surprisingly light but it lacked flavor, so the tartar sauce (or mayo) is a must. read more
Touted as the winner of the National Fish & Chip Awards and with lines that indicate this was a popular spot, we opted to grab the calamari and fish & chips here. The fish was a nice size and chips were warm but the meal didn't come with any condiments (tartar sauce, malt vinegar, curry, gravy or ketchup). We did manage to locate the ketchup on the side of the building but later learned the other condiments would need to be purchased separately. Not wanting to wait in the long line again, we ate our lunch plain. Next time, I would probably chose to go into their sit down restaurant nearby for a proper experience. read more

Borough market holds a special place in my heart and this spot is a must if you're exploring it. The prices are super reasonable for very well fried fish and perfectly crispy chips. Eating in the vicinity can be a bit overwhelming, but not terribly difficult. Good amount of options- we went with the catch of the day bream. Service was quick, so a nice quick stop in the market. There's a larger down portion next to the stall, don't know much about that or whether the stal is just an easier option. read more
A great start to our London visit This was our first food stop in London after arriving here for vacation. We came across fish! while looking around Borough Market for a place to eat. They boast of having won an award for best Fish & Chips some years back. That sold us, we wanted that as one of our first meals. Other reviews talk about the place being very busy, it wasn't around 4pm when we stopped by. You can select different types of fish for this meal, like Cod or Haddock. That was certainly different than the one choice we see in the States. I selected the cheaper priced Haddock instead of the more popular Cod. We all loved our Fish & Chips, I don't think any choice was wrong. My Haddock was fluffy and flavorful. It came with a half lemon, some tartar sauce, and a small bowl of mushy peas. I liked those peas, it was quite an unusual side for me. My wife liked the batter so much she took half of mine, it was that good. Service was fine, not as speedy or friendly as I'm used to but I'm not at home and some things will be a little different. We enjoyed the outdoor seating on a cool evening. I should mention the Heinz 57 Ketchup glass bottle. It reminded me of those old TV commercials where you anticipated the ketchup coming out because it was so thick. Still came out slow for us until we finally got it going. This was an excellent start to our visit. read more

Initially the line was so long that I told my bf he needed to find something else to eat because I hate lines. The line moves surprisingly quick. And the food is served piping hot. Unfortunately they do run out of some of the types of fish early on, so you wanna go early. When we got there it was about 1pm and then only had plaice and sea bass. He got the sea bass and he loved it. I don't like fish so I can tell you. He did say this is the best fried fish he's ever had and he lived in London for about 2 years. The chips are very plain and could at minimum use some salt. read more

Service was mediocre, while ambiance in London is expected to be stellar and modern. Ordered two items here, crab bread and cod fish n chips. The food tasted on par to Gordon Ramsay's fish n chips in the US. I think the best part of both dishes is the mayonnaise. Each seasoned to fit their designated dish, and sooooooo fluffy and light. Otherwise, I didn't feel like I needed to come back after this visit. read more

Came here for Easter. We ordered: FISH AND CHIPS (cod)- this was good. Came with smashed peas.. first time trying.. wasn't that. The chips that it came with was nice and crispy. GRILLED COD with herb butter- the seasonal vegetables was sliced cabbage. This was ok MUSSELS with SPICY TOMATO SAUCE- this was nice and tender. So good with the glass Prosecco BREAD& BUTTER- this was ok.. nothing to write home about Over all.. my fave were the mussels. My son really like the big piece of fried cod. read more
For the true experience of English fish and chips this is a good place to go. An outdoor stand next to the restaurant. We were there on a cold rainy winter day there were a few places to sit but they were full so we sat on benches over looking a church. The sun peaked out and it was beautiful. The cod was perfectly cooked crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. The chips were cooked just right. read more
My son is picky as all get out when it comes to food. But I can usually talk him into something fried. While strolling through Borough Market for the first time today, we talked him into trying fish and chips from here. He absolutely loved them and devoured as much of it as he could. Any place that can get my son to expand his horizons is wonderful by me. Now he left some of it for me to try. And I must say this was some incredible fish and chips they have going here. Recommended by our tour guide for fish & chips. if you're not from London or anywhere in Europe this place is definitely a safe option for you! I will say the fish & chips plate (depending on what fish you get) can be shared between two people. We had the haddock & it was pretty tasty. Definitely a nice area to dine at. Great fish and chips but a little pricey. You'll pay nearly 15 quid for a fried cod fillet with chips. However, while pricey, the fish is very very good. You can order tartar sauce but it really doesn't need it. It's juicy enough in it's own inside. Bring a friend and try two different fishes for the best experience. The chips are the weak part. They're inconsistently fried, and the tiny ones are just, well, bad. Ketchup is provided free on the tables. There will be a line here thanks to their popularity. Credit cards are accepted. read more
