Snapper - Grilled - Lemon Garlic Sauce - Side of Fries ($17.95) - yummy

Fish Cafe has been around for quite a while. I like that there's a healthy (well if you don't choose their deep-fried option) fish place in Kerrisdale. You order a type of fish and choose how to make them (deep-fried or grilled), choose a dipping sauce, and choose a side (I forget what options they have but I got fries). I like to get their fish grilled with their lemon garlic sauce. I tried their lemon caper sauce and it wasn't as good. Also tried their tartar sauce and apparently they make it themselves in house. Lemon garlic was still the best. They also do fish burgers and clam chowders and calamari for other options. Their calamari is not as crispy as I'd like and quite expensive for the size. Service can be slow as they usually only have 1 server and 1 cook. It's a small business so be patient.

Most popular finger food in Vancouver is fish and chips. It can be found everywhere and no need to drive all the way to Richmond Fisher Terrace or White Rock to have a piece of fish and chips. Fish café is the one on Open Table reservation. Just a bit surprised of small café would take the rsvn. It's small and cozy café, the menu is simple and on the wall. Soup was bland, fish and chips was ok, the fish burger was tiny with a lot of fries. If craving for fish and chips and collect points for open table, this is good choice.

The platter is amazing! And what a good deal, in addition to the platter for 2 (scallops, prawns, calamari, steelhead, char, fries, salad) we also each got drinks and a carrot cake, came out to be just $100! Marcus even gave us some extra smoked salmon belly that tasted incredible.

Seafood restaurant in Kerrisdale area of Vancouver BC. Menu includes salads, chowder, calamari, crab cakes, a variety of fish including halibut, snapper, trout, steelhead and ling cod. Two desserts to choose from. Wine and beer selection. Meter parking available on the street in front of the restaurant. Small patio with three tables.

Food was tasty, tad on the oily side. Restaurant could be cleaner, service staff was good.

Once my order was completed I found a seat and started to eat. The seating area is limited and if various options, a couple tables here and there and a counter by the window. The fish was crispy and nicely battered and chips were decent. Fish size was again decent i wouldn't say the largest nor small but regular in size to decent fish and chip places. Overall nice, I think strong decent fish and chip place but imo overhyped. It's not bad but nothing mind

I ordered an Oyster Po Boy, fries and a drink which came to total of $27.10. It was messy to eat Po Boy, but that wasn't an issue. Baguette was so crunchy on the outside it was perfect! There was some arugula, kimchi and 3 pcs of oysters in it. I also ordered fries it was huge! Fries were bit salty and overcooked I tossed it out in the end. I left my water and soda to drink them later after heading to washroom. Staff cleared my water and soda away. I still had half of soda in it. I felt thirsty after eating my food in the end. It'd have been nice if she asked me first before clearing dishes. I don't think I'll go back.

I thought it was a burger place befoer looking at the menu. They do fish & chips, salads, wraps, burgers, burritos, fried chicken, and fries. This is pretty impressive I must say. Special mention. I just stood there and stared. The menu boards inside the restaurant run the entire length of the counter. Staff are friendly, though the ordering is quite slow. As Andrew M mentioned, the layout is indeed quite inefficient. There are only 4 small tables (8 seats total) for the entire place, along a wall. The rest of it is one giant kitchen. Best to do takeout to be honest. The fish and chips were pretty decent, but quite pricy. Not great value. Fries were honestly quite mediocre. I'd stick to the cheaper items such as wraps or burgers. Wouldn't mind coming back to try some of the other stuff at some point.

They're the best & extremely expensive. Chef knows his hold temps too! See pics. OMG I saw someone order falafel plate and they got huge, made to order falafel!!! My next visit is this!!! 2) Clean: The whole restaurant was clean (minus the table behind us who left). Nice open kitchen so you can see everything. I don't know if chef will kill me, but he offered us the staff-only handwashing station bc we came in filthy after a day of gardening. I don't know if this is offered to every guest. But people need clean hands & a toilet. This is why you won't get above 4* 3) Food: Chef offered me if I didn't love his recommendation, he would pay double. I ate 1 bite and told him to keep his $$. He offered me the Crunchy Chicken Wrap. It's SOOOO loaded w chicken & huge, made 2 meals for me. But next time I really want spicy chicken, or Angry fish. 4) Place: I give the place 3.5 stars...only bc there's only 8 seats (very busy), and no toilet. I was happy chef let us wash our hands but I think this was a one off. People need a place to wash their hands, despite staff only areas. Also people like to go to the bathroom when they're dining in. 5) Parking: you can park out back: they share space w Beefway, or park along Kingsway off hours. Chef was so communicative & generous in my order. My friend got the double burger, and we shared chili fries. Everything was top tier, even the chili fries. Just not chilli: just spiced beef crumble. But to all the fries haters who posted: you are SOOO off! These were twice fried fries (crispy outside, soft inside), plus the spicy dust is amazing! Edit: Downlow fries have better dust. Also...good sign: we came in about 10:15pm...they close midnight. They were packed with in-house diners, delivery drivers, and their own website delivery. You know a place is good when the stoner-hour is blowing up their delivery!

The pot pie is edible! My friend is celiac and 100% cannot eat here so when we come for music or trivia they can only have a few drinks. The service can be hit or miss. It seems like every time they have a good staff member they end up leaving within a year. Only the not great ones stay. One of the female servers has a downright crap attitude and the super tattooed guy with the mullet is moody af and you never know if he's gonna be nice or not. BUT ... this pub is great for the music! It's also great if you just want to have a quiet pint on a rainy Vancouver day. No other pub like it left in the city so I keep coming back. I order the crappy food and the drinks so we can keep the pub. It would be great if we could enjoy good food, drinks and music, but we'll take what we can get.

NOT SO HAPPY HAPPY HOUR…read more We popped into the Wolf and Hound Irish Pub, which boasts on its website that it's "a good place to hide from the yogis" (not the smartest way to endear itself to this particular neighbourhood!) for some mid-afternoon scran. Between the two of us we ordered deep-fried pickles, poutine, "slow-roasted Angus beef yorkies with crisp onions and au jus", a side of fries and one soft drink. For $8, we got 4 slices of dill pickle (likely one pickle in total) breaded and deep-fried with ranch dip. This was the most successful item because it seemed to be freshly made and hot. At $2 a piece it was wildly overpriced. The mini poutine ($7) was disappointing. The chips were okay, but the cheese was clearly not the required "squeakers", more likely plain old mozzarella, and the gravy was oddly flavoured and unsatisfying. Half of it was left in the bowl uneaten. The so-called yorkies ($9) with so-called slow-roasted Angus beef were a joke. Straight out of the freezer via the microwave without a doubt. The two tiny yorkies were flat and tough. If they'd ever had the famous yorkie puff and lightness it was long gone. The beef was tough and lifeless. And the "au jus" - extremely salty and my guess is it was, not long ago, a powder in a packet to which hot water was added before arriving at our table in a tiny pitcher. I would honestly be embarrassed to serve that dish to anyone. The side chips ($4) were adequate. They arrived hot, at least. One soft drink ($3.25) was served in a glass with a few small ice cubes. It was not cold. At least we didn't get a can plopped down in front of us like at many places. Service: he took our order and he delivered it to our table. No inquiry how everything was, no "Would you like anything else?" No "How was everything?" when we paid. (We gave up waiting for a bill at the table and went to the bar to pay.) He seemed to be the only server in the place and there were several people at the bar, so perhaps they kept him busy. Servings were small and are perhaps mini versions of what is served at full price during non-Happy Hour. I hope so. Our total bill for a decidedly unsatisfactory repast was $33.04 with tax. The Wolf and Hound is in our neighbourhood and we wanted to give it a try. We like to avoid the chain restaurants and want to patronize local independents.
