Went on a Saturday late afternoon. Service was so wonderful 2 young men checked on us often while we grabbed for 2 hours. Lemon pancakes were good, not much different from regular pancakes however. Had a small teaspoon of Lemon curd on top . Price good. read more

We were in Venice Beach for our nephew's wedding (we live on Maui) and stopped in at First Watch for breakfast. I'm so stoked they actually have biscuits & turkey gravy; usually can't find it anywhere! The Ricotta stuffed pancakes with lemon curd & strawberries were awesome! While visiting relatives and friends in FL my wife and I had the pleasure of eating breakfast and lunch at First Watch. Both locations were well maintained and had a nice vibe. The staff at both locations were friendly and helpful. I don't recall exactly what we ate, during breakfast, I had the special and it was flavorful and a nice sized portion. A few days later we enjoyed lunch. My wife had a salad and I had a sandwich. Both were outstanding. read more

I was shocked. It's brunch time on a Sunday, so I expect it to be busy. I was put off coming through the door because an uncourteous customer cut me in line but I let it go. From there, I decided to eat outside to avoid the wait, which is fine. Took a good 5 minutes for anybody to show up to my table but it's Sunday morning so I let that go as well. I got the BLT benedict. Food came timely, which was the only highlight of the experience. The food itself was poorly cooked - the poached eggs were awfully small, the hollandaise was tangy, and the potatoes were way undercooked, I took two bites and I didn't eat any more of them. In addition, the waitress brought me the bill in the middle of eating - the plate was not clean and I had not prompted her in any way to do so. It felt like a "flip the table" exercise to get me out of there as soon as possible. I'm wondering if she was trained to do so. It sucks because I truly believe in tipping fairly and will usually tip a $5.00 minimum even if I'm just getting coffee; however I was strongly compelled to tip nothing, probably for the first time in my life. Not only that, there were 3 different servers in the outside area. That matters because I truly felt like a peon, not as a welcome customer. I think the restaurant relies on elderly clientele and a modern atmosphere to excuse their poor food and poor service. This is my first time ever writing a review for any restaurant because I was appalled. Management really needs to improve, this was a very bad experience and I think I was there for all of 15 minutes. Don't go until there is a change management. read more

Never disappointed with First Watch I'll admit it, I'm a big First Watch fan. I almost always get the Parma Hash Skillet and am always pleased. That's what I had today. This Venice restaurant has only recently opened and it was our first visit. Nice place, lots of wood. Our server was friendly and efficient, and did an outstanding job. While my Parma Hash wasn't picture perfect this time, it tasted perfect. My wife sometimes orders off the menu, basically she orders an omelette but asks for the eggs poached. Not a problem, once our server understood what she wanted and he understood quickly, off he went to get it done. Our food arrived in under 10 minutes and we both had a tasty and filling breakfast. The service here is night and day, when compared to the grill next door. Next door gave us attitude. This place gave us positive experience. We have eaten here before, my dad's bike group loves this place and takes it over with their 200+ member bicycle group. The menu is fresh and for the healthy eater side of you. The BEST breakfast in Venice for sure. Great selections, creative specials, (like short ribs and eggs) excellent chefs who know how not to overlook, excellent wait staff, and a friendly team. The mixed greens, fruit or potato option with many offerings is unique. The breads are all very nice. I would like to eat breakfast here every day. When crowded, is too noisy. I place the order online since I live around the corner wanted to pick it up. This is their 3rd time I get rotten avocados, I order my eggs over medium I got over hard since I like my eggs runny to eat my potatoes with, I had to come home and make the eggs myself which defeats the purpose of ordering so I wouldn't have to cook. The potatoes are grainy and over all doesn't taste fresh as their slogan says. Don't waste your money in this over price place, you are better of cooking breakfast yourself. read more

This is the second First Watch location we have been to (the other in Orlando). Both times we have waited for at least 20 minutes for the waiter to come to the table to greet us. Once they do come, we wait another 10 min or so for drinks, no water. In Orlando we waited an boot for our food and no water refills. The food in Orlando location was good when we got it. Venice location- the portion sizes were very small. I won't be giving them a third try. Too bad bc the menu is pleasing to the eye, the service kills it though. read more

I would give First Watch 3.5 out of 5 stars. The food here truly deserves 5 stars. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with avocado, spinach, tomato on wheat toast. It was beautifully plated and everything tasted fresh and delicious. However I was fairly disappointed with the service. When we received our food our waitress also handed us our receipt, and never came back to our table. We sat outside {beautiful atmosphere outside as well as inside}, and it was very difficult to get a refill on our drinks since our waitress seemed to have left after delivering our food which I found very odd. If you are into healthy eating this would be somewhere I highly recommend checking out! Lots of options here read more

It's a chance to try something different than the usual bacon and eggs fare available at most chain restaurants. Service is attentive and courteous. Restrooms are spotless. We tried the Frittata Rustica and the Multigrain Banana Nut Pancake for brunch. I sampled both orders and found the multigrain pancake excellent with generous banana pieces and a flavorful grainy texture. One pancake was large enough to make a nice meal for the average person. The frittata was less memorable, somewhat small, dry and very thin, unlikely to please anyone but a frail dieter. A salad of greens accompanied the dish. Perhaps, a sauce would have livened up the frittata. Nevertheless, First Watch is a good place to avoid adding extra poundage, or creating more notches on your belt. Reasonably priced for a unique restaurant with a more interesting brunch menu. read more

My husband and I ate brunch at this First Watch yesterday and were sorely disappointed. The First Watch restaurants used to be among our most favorite -- great, fresh food, not too overpriced, and always reliable. NOT ANY MORE!! While the waitstaff at this First Watch was very nice, the menu has changed dramatically and NOT for the better. The prices have gone up unreasonably -- $3.49 for coffee! It is bottomless, but still!!! They have taken many excellent items off the menu and have made the portions smaller and raised the prices across the board. Where you used to get a slice of their delicious bread with basically every egg-related item, now you have to pay $1.99 for a "side" of that same bread! There are so many other excellent breakfast/brunch/lunch places around that we will NOT be returning to First Watch any time soon. read more

Love their vegetarian sandwiches! I've eaten there for lunch only twice. Both times I had a vegetarian sandwich and 1/2 an avocado! Each sandwich has been different as they change their menu often. It is a small menu but each sandwich was completely different but very delicious! I have my sandwich's put in a wrap as I don't eat bread. I can't say enough about how delicious, but different each sandwich was! The service is great and I highly recommend this very nice little restaurant! read more
