Like 3.5/5 stars so I'll round up to 4 stars. A group of seven of us went here for book club today - I don't believe they take reservations, but you can "get in line" on Yelp or online, so a friend "got in line" around 11:30am, so that we would be seated by 12:30pm. I have been to First Watch before but this was my first time at a Michigan location - the only other time I've been was in Knoxville, TN. The last time I went to FW, I got the million dollar bacon, which I knew I wanted to order again (because it's DELICIOUS), and the avocado toast. I wanted to try something else this time so I decided on their vanilla chai pancakes. I asked for it without bananas, since I'm not a big fan, and they brought it with the bananas ... I had them re-do it and it took like an extra 10-15 minutes. Then, when it was brought back, it didn't have raspberries on it (and I do like raspberries) ... they brought me a little thing of raspberries to add. I also never got my bacon and had to ask for that to be brought too. This is what makes this review a 4-star review and not 3: our waiter, Marc, said that he would take care of my meal for me, since they screwed it up so much. However, I had a free birthday coupon, so it was going to be comped anyways; he ended up giving me a $20 gift card/coupon type thing to come back to First Watch another time. That's over and beyond customer service, in my opinion. As for the food, the bacon was great per usual, but I was a little disappointed in the pancakes. They were topped with a tasty maple almond butter, and some seeds, but otherwise were pretty standard (ie, nothing special). I think next time I'll either stick to my avocado toast or maybe try one of the chicken bowls or sandwiches, which both looked tasty; I'm not an egg eater, and about half of their menu includes eggs. As for bathrooms, they have onesies, but there are two women's and two men's rooms, which was nice. The bathroom had some paper on the floor and was a little messy. They're located to the far right, when you walk in. Overall, I'd come back to this location again, although it gets very crowded so I highly recommend doing the "get in line" option online before you arrive. People who showed up without that were being quoted about an hour to hour and a half wait, around 12:30pm, and when we left, around 2pm, they were being quoted 30-45 minutes. read more

12/28/19 Our annual goodbye breakfast with grandma. Still fabulous service. This time we had Mark. He did a great job taking care of our table of four. I tried the Bacado this time. Hubby and teenage son shared the chickiburitto and breakfast tacos like last year. Grandma ordered the Traditional Breakfast with over easy eggs and bacon. Coffee was poured into our mugs and the carafe was left on the table. Water glasses were filled and a small jar of water was also left on our table. This is nice that we can refill our own cups without having to flag down our waiter. Small pottery bowl with at least a dozen single serve flavored creamers and half and half are on the table with the sugar, s&p, ketchup andnhot Great new restaurant in town. Perfect place to treat yourself or a friend to breakfast/ brunch. Dining area has large rustic wooden bench-style booths and tables of various sizes in the L-shaped room. Overall decor is spacious and fancy inside of a barn with high exposed ceilings. This allows for a loud, noisy environment which is accommodating for parents with young children. The menu is kind of like reading a newspaper with three columns of reading. A little confusing and difficult to figure out at first. Our waitress, India, was very patient with us and graciously helped us with placing our orders. She always had a smile on her face and paid attention to our questions. I ordered the chorizo chili omelette which was soft and perfectly cooked. Hubby ordered the chickichanga (like a breakfast burrito) that was "stellar". Teenage son ordered the breakfast tacos. He said they were excellent, the chorizo with the eggs and cheese really went well with each other. Grandma ordered a traditional breakfast of two eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. The toast is organic whole grain thick toast with a nutty flavor. Very hearty and delicious. The tacos were whole wheat corn shells. Five stars all the way. Food here is solid, but nothing special - except for their Million Dollar Bacon, which I do dream about sometimes. The wait times to eat here are always tricky, but thankfully they do allow you to join the waitlist online and they are located in a plaza with a ton of other shopping you can do (Nordstrom Rack, REI, etc.) while you wait! And of all the times I've come here (pre-pandemic and during it nowadays) the service times/quality have always been hit or miss and, clearly, inconsistent. Obviously they are always operating at nearly full capacity given those wait times, so it just depends on which waiters you get and how capable they are at handling full capacity, which makes me seriously feel for them! So glad I saw a review and decided to try out First Watch!! Met my 4 besties here for a girls' birthday breakfast and everything was perfect! Our waiter was attentive and great at checking in and making sure everyone had drinks, extra napkins, etc. Our food arrived within about 20 mins of ordering, although the place was busy, and everything was hot and tasty as hell--like I'm already thinking about when we can com back for this breakfast again! I tried the truffle quice which came with some dressed greens and a fruit cup (. That quiche!! Call the preacher because I wanted to marry that quiche! We arrived at 9am, and the place was steady, but by the time we left a little after 10am there was definitely a line, so go early! I am definitely going back again (and hopefully soon!!) The service at First Watch is probably the main reason we continue to come here. We're actually here right now for my hubs birthday and our server, Shelby, is so gosh darn sweet. She even gave us an embarrassing song for his birthday (just what I wanted). I'll be asking for her everytime now. My ONLY complaint, and it's minor, is that the coffee is sometimes very watery and there are no vegetarian "meat" options. It's so not a requirement to please every diet, but it would make this place a 5-star otherwise. The customer service and the waiting list system is terrible. If you walk in and get in the queue or if you "get in line" from their website you are lowest priority. Even though they don't accept reservations other people, presumably who used the app, come in and jump the line. They're a joke. We joined the waitlist online. We checked in. They told us 20 minutes and we're third in line. Then 30 minutes later we're told we're sixth in line! Not only is their seating system pitiful and frustrating but the customer service attitude of the hostess made it even more frustrating. They turned away about two dozen people who get pissed off about the wait time or the misleading information they were told about their wait time. We ended up walking out. The wait can be long so I recommend the get in line option on their website. They will text you when your table is available. I ordered the Morning Market Veggie Omelet which is one of my favorites. Love the choice of side greens or potato option. Hubby ordered the Farmhouse Skillet Hash and he said it was very good. It was a bit of a wait for the food to come out but we weren't in a hurry and understand there are still some staffing shortages. We were lucky to have Nancy as our server. As it is a new, trendy brunch place, First Watch is understandably busy. In fact, the first time I tried to go, my friend and I were told the wait would be 1.5 hours, so we decided to get pho elsewhere. On my second attempt, I realized the key is to download the First Watch app so you can grab a spot in line before you even leave your house! When we arrived, we checked in with the hostess stand, enjoyed complimentary beverages, and were seated in less than 10 minutes! We took some time to peruse the menu, and decided to order the Açaí Squeeze juice, the seasonal Matcha Latte Pancakes, and the Elevated Egg Sandwich! The juice came first, and it was very refreshing, albeit a little too tart for me. Our food took a while longer to get out, which isn't too much of a problem if you have good company. The restaurant was PACKED the entire time, so we understand the longer wait times. When our food arrived, they looked great and instaworthy! After a short photo shoot, my friend and I decided to dig in! The pancakes were tasty and incredibly soft and fluffy, although I wish there had been more yogurt to cover the third pancake. This is closer to a 3.5 star review. I came here yesterday for brunch with a friend. Neither of us knew about getting inline before hand on either yelp or their app (though I believe that they use yelp). So we had a long wait even though it was just the 2 of us. There is water and coffee where you wait. It was weird to note that you pay at the front. It was also hard to determine who exactly was ahead of you and I'm sure that there were people inline online ahead of us. We had a great waiter. He let us try the featured juice however it was not for either of us. I ordered one of the specials (chicken chimichurri hash with fried eggs) and my friend on recommendation that the special I ordered was spicy ordered something of off the menu. We also ordered the million dollar bacon. When we were waiting for our food a different server brought us the next tables food. Luckily we were able to figure it out. Our meals came out hot and cooked correctly. My friend tried mine and realized that she could have handled it as it was not as spicy as the waiter said. I ordered a veggie burger, which I've done before, telling the waitress I'm vegan and dont eat dairy or cheese... i even asked if they have a plant based milk for my coffee... (no) ... my meal came with cheese... I sent it back... it came without tomato... and after eating it, I found out it was a turkey burger... meat hasn't crossed my lips in 10 years... I don't have the gut bacteria to digest this insult... I was quite upset to put it mildly... my whole body started to tremble with revulsion... . the manager came over, took note of the problem, the waitress said i had ordered a turkey burger... the manager took my personal info, and gave me a $20 gift card and didn't charge me for the turkeyburger... I told my friends to go on about their day... told the manager I would stay until I felt I am ok... 2 hours later, I get a severe leg cramp... been walking it out... my digestion is gurgling and crampy... not a peep from the staff about... Finally decided to come here. They usually have a wait. We got on the waitlist through yelp about 40 minutes before it closed. It told us what time to check in by in ordered to still be served. By the time we ordered and left, it was a little under 30 minutes after close. I liked the farm to table decor and the beverage serving styles. We got seated at a bench booth and had a high chair on the end. Items ordered: morning meditation drink (turmeric, ginger, orange, lemon), Chile chorizo omelette, plain multigrain pancakes, 1/2 and 1/2 combo of turkey Monterrey sandwich and avocado chicken chop salad. I thought the turkey sandwich was one of the best turkey sandwiches I have ever had. It had a good amount of lettuce and it had pieces of bacon, avocado, and tomato. There was a lot of flavor. The pancakes were a very generous portion and our friend said it was one of the best pancakes he has had. The chorizo omelette was also good- not runny or overdone. The flavors were good as well. Husband has celiac so he was happy to be able to get the udi gluten free bread with it. He got to eat toast with his omelette and loved the jelly that they served with it. So excited to learn about this California-based brunch restaurant! A great concept, flawlessly executed. The menu is extensive and offers something for everyone, from kale beverages to tempting omelets. I chose the everything omelet and it was delicious . . . full of sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, and onions. The side of multigrain toast with organic jelly was a great complement to my omelet. My husband ordered the Trifecta . . . two eggs any style, pancakes with warm syrup, and sausage (your choice of chicken, beef, or turkey!) . His eggs were perfectly prepared (he's super picky!) and the pancake was fluffy and tasty. First Watch is growing rapidly and is opening restaurants throughout the U.S. I checked as soon as I returned home and found that there are three locations near me! Reason for the minus one star is that this place needs a larger space and more staff. I've been here 3 times and each time the service was exceptional and the food was always worth the wait. All the negatives of this place has more to do with the great number of people who come here for breakfast and the time they spend in here even after they finish their food (because the environment is comfortable and inviting). Every First Watch I've been to has had excellent food and service but... This past Saturday it took over 40 minutes to get our food because of all the "carry out" orders backing up the kitchen. Hey First Watch management - don't let Door Dash/take-out, etc be prioritized over in-person diners! One of the staff said they are looking at addressing this with a separate location just for carry out. Hopefully something is done because I've never encountered this before. When I enjoy the slice of bread most in a dish which has egg and hollandaise sauce as key ingredients, something is terribly wrong. Special bacon looked beautiful- 5 stars for the decor and the flavors. I think it was the highlight but the bacon strip was extremely undercooked and chewy.
