Had a lovely second visit to this restaurant. The service had definitely improved and the food was great and didn't come out cold like last time I was here. I tried the steel-cut oatmeal and it was a filling and healthy brunch. I loved all the fresh fruit they added and the side of brown sugar so I could sweeten it only as much as I wanted. I also tried the "Morning Meditation" from the fresh juice bar which has orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beet. Last day in Montgomery and we wanted to load up before getting back on the road out of town. This used to be The Egg & I and I found good reviews about them. It wasn't too far out of our way so we decided to give it a shot. It was very popular and there was a bit of a wait on a Sunday morning. Lots of options on the menu. I opted for an omelet and pancake. Let me tell you...the food is GREAT. The issue was service. We waited to so long to be met by our server. And a table that came in after us got attended to before us. I was mighty upset. Food took a long time. Pretty good. We moved here right before it changed from the Egg & I, and we never got to try the old restaurant. Ate breakfast here before the church rush on a Sunday morning, as I can imagine the place is probably packed after about 9:30 (we are in the Bible Belt after all). Fantastic food! We came here twice during one business trip. The only improvement needed would be their staffing during the Sunday rush. They are definitely overwhelmed and they couldn't bus tables fast enough to get people seated. We also realized since we were waiting outside (not enough room inside) we were passed over for our seat. Just a heads up, stay inside if possible during busy times. To start with, there were a lot of people waiting in line but the wait is not awful. The girl who supposed to seat us didn't get my husband's name right but we still got our seat in a good timely manner anyway. After we were seated, my husband asked something he read on their website about free coffee(the screenshot as I attached). Turns out it wasn't complimentary but slightly misleading in how they worded it. We still ordered the coffee, eggs Benedict, hash skillet, and Belgian waffle. Even with the busy hour, our food still came pretty fast fortunately. The eggs Benedict has an unexpected tangy taste, and isn't as creamy as other places; bread somewhat dry/hard; really nothing special. The hash skillet, comes with two eggs that you can choose how you like it cooked. I personally like it, mine is with sausage, mushrooms, onions and tomato. The tomato gave a hit of tangy and helped the overall taste as some people aka my husband think it's greasy. It's a filling plate with a small cup of fruits and one slice of multigrain bread. Lastly, Belgian waffle, is good crispy on the outside and soft inside, but not as the thick Belgian waffle we thought it would be. We like it anyway, especially with the strawberry jam. The end of the visit, we got a check and was waiting in a lengthy line to pay. Seemed they were understaffed as the register was empty for some time. Once the person came back, it actually cleared fast. I found out we got a $2 off coupon, I don't know for sure if it came from the long wait or the coffee thing my husband asked about. Awesome experience!! I visited this restaurant with as a party of 15. They do not do reservations or call ahead seating, but they were able to accommodate us with no problem. The manager, Jason, was very friendly and engaged. Our server was apparently new but did a great job. She was both attentive and efficient. Even other servers helped out where they could. Seven of us went to First Watch in Montgomery today. We arrived at 10;50 am, and it was not busy. We were seated after a 15 minute wait. It then took 33 minutes for a server to come over. She took our drink and food order. No silverware Or napkins on the table. Ice Water was ordered with lemon. We were brought 10 oz glasses with no ice no lemon and lukewarm water. We were told the regular size water glasses were being washed, out of ice and lemon. Our food came a few plates at a time. Took 20 minutes longer. We requested forks and knives; we were told they were being washed and it would be a bit. So those of us with food had no way to eat it: it was getting cold, so I asked for mgr. None came. More plates showed up, but still no eating utensils. All food was cold when I went to mgr and complained. One of our group went to her car and got plastic forks. Mgr came over and said, oh we could have got you some. One person never got her food, despite asking 4 times. No napkins were brought and no water refills. I asked for another mgr and the person who I was led to said, you should have told me. I pointed out the mgr I had spoken to. He then told me that this didn't happen there usually. He offered no apology or any assistance. I told him that he'd just lost 8 customers. He shrugged. We won't be back. I emailed corporate office and received NO response. read more
